  • Interpol Announces World Tour

    One of New York’s most important indie rock bands, Interpol, is returning to the stage in support of its upcoming album Marauder, which is set to drop on Aug. 24.

    Interpol, well known for songs such as “PDA,” “Obstacle 1,” and “Evil,” performed their latest single “The Rover” on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last week.

    This will be the sixth studio album from the band since receiving critical success for its debut album Turn on the Bright Lights back in 2002.

    The band has announced a world tour with US dates beginning on Sept. 11 in Boston and will finish at home in New York City on Feb. 16 at Madison Square Garden. They will be joined by fellow Matador recording artists Car Seat Headrest and Snail Mail.

    Interpol will be having another show in New York on Aug. 24 at Brooklyn’s House of Vans. That will be a free show for fans who will be able RSVP in time.

    Tickets for Interpol’s tour will be on sale Thursday, June 14 at 10 a.m.

  • ponder Starting Eight City Tour in June

    Ponder, known for spelling their name with a lower-case “p” and as one of Buffalo’s up-and-coming alt-rock/jam groups, is hitting the road on June 23 in Rochester for their eight city tour across New York and for the first time ever, Vermont.

    Ponder was formed in 2015 as a solo project of songwriter Gabriel Birkby, but quickly morphed into a band and has become a Buffalo fan favorite. This is their first time hitting the road since 2017 when they visited spots stretching from Buffalo, clear through New York City. They’ve undergone some major line-up changes within the last six months and the group is now somewhat of an amorphous funk/rock powerhouse and are known for constantly having their friends in music hop-up on stage.

    The band’s lineup setting out for the summer tour consists of Gabe Birkby on vocals/lead guitar, Andy Hogan on bass, Paul Sottnik on keys, and Rochester’s Marcus Peters on drums.

  • NYC Brazilian/American Alt-Rock Band, Added Color Release New EP ‘Mr. Industry’

    Brooklyn-based Brazilian/American rock band Added Color have released a their second EP Mr. Industry, featuring a unique blend of funk-infused alternative rock. The five-track release pulls on their Brazilian roots with pulsating energy and blend together a myriad of sounds, genres and inspiration into the album.

    Based in Brooklyn, Dan (drums/vocals) and Kiko Freiberg (guitar/vocals), are brothers hailing from São Paulo, Brazil, and joined forces with Tim Haggerty and Danny Dahan, for a fusion of backgrounds to form the band’s unique chemistry. Embracing and celebrating their widespread connections, the band has toured across the U.S. and toured internationally in Canada, Morocco and Brazil.

    Mr. Industry comes as a reflection and personification of the current state of the music and arts industry. “The character (Mr. Industry) represents the corporate mentality that has taken over the industry in a time where it is going through a crisis,” said Added Color. “Mr. Industry cares only about putting artists in a creative box and marketing them. Basically, if you sound like everyone else, it’s easier to associate you to other acts and sell you. The idea behind the EP connects with our overall message, which is about being yourself at all times no matter what. Mr. Industry is the force that we are fighting against as we live for honest and original music.”  Mr. Industry was recorded at state of the art Silver Cord Studios in Brooklyn, NY by Jamie Uertz (Blind Melon) and Grammy nominated Johann Meyer (Gojira/Roadrunner Records).

    The video for “‘Same Place’ documents their 2017 Spring Tour of Morocco, during which they played seven shows in seven different cities. The video’s trippy feel matches the theme of the song, which is about a dream in a dystopia where people conform to social norms and obligations as they get older.

    Added Color will return to Morocco later this month, for a week-long string of dates, followed by a series of U.S. tour dates kicking off in late May. Stay tuned for the animated music video for “Panic Attack” coming soon.

  • The Black Dahlia Murder Kicks Off Tour

    Detroit’s melodic death metal band, The Black Dahlia Murder, have hit the road recently, and are set to visit over 40 cities across North America on their tour.

    The tour will take place in two parts, first seeing support from Homewrecker for the first twelve dates, starting in Minnesota and ending June 1 at Ground Zero in Traverse, MI. After a small break, the band will then head out with Whitechapel, Fleshgod, Apocalypse, Aversions Crown, and Shadow of Intent starting on June 8 in Chicago.

    The second portion of the tour will make two stops in New York, first on June 13, at Funk N’ Waffles in Rochester, and June 15, at Stage 48 in NYC.

    Formed in 2001, The Black Dahlia Murder has released eight studio albums, including 2017’s Nighbringers. The band’s last seven releases have charted on the Billboard 200, with the last five reaching inside the top 50 on the Billboard 200 chart.

  • Gov’t Mule Announces Summer Dates

    Gov’t Mule has announced their 2018 summer tour, hitting Wantagh and Lewiston, New York. The Warren Haynes led rock band finished up their spring tour at the New Orleans Jazz Festival.

    The band is coming off their 10th studio album and highest selling debut, 2017’s Revolution Come… Revolution Go. The album is one of the band’s most politically driven pieces to date.

    Mule will also make it’s way over to Europe where they will be headlining the “Gov’t Mule Dark Side of the Mule & Avett Brothers shows.” The bands will play a string of three shows throughout Europe where Gov’t Mule will perform Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon along with the Avett Brothers.

  • Phish Fall Tour to kick off in Albany at Times Union Center

    The last time Phish came to Albany, they dropped a legendary “Seven Below” -> “Ghost,” one of the defining jams of the 3.0 era. Today, Phish has announced a 14-date Fall Tour kicking off October 16 with two nights in Albany, NY at the Times Union Center, and concluding with a four-night Halloween Run, beginning on October 31, at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The tour also includes three-night stands in Chicago, IL, Hampton, VA and two nights in Nashville, TN.

  • Deep Purple and Judas Priest Announce Summer North American Tour

    With one hundred years of rock and roll experience combined, Deep Purple, and Judas Priest have announced that they will team up for a co-headlining, 25-city tour across North America.

    Three of those twenty five cities on the tour will include stops in New York starting on Aug. 9, at the Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, Aug. 2, at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel, and Aug. 5, at the Darien Lake Amphitheater in Darien Center.

    Since its formation in 1968, Deep Purple has released 20 studio albums throughout its 50 year career including 2017’s Infinite. The band has sold over 100 million albums world-wide and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on 2016.

    Formed in 1969, Judas Priest has recorded eighteen studio albums, selling over 50 million world-wide. The band won a Grammy award in 2010 for Best Metal Performance for the song “Dissident Aggressor.”  The band’s latest studio effort, Firepower, released in March is its most successful album, selling 49,000 copies the first week and debuting at number five on the Billboard 200 chart.

  • Old Crow Medicine Show Announce 2018 Summer Tour

    Old Crow Medicine Show has announced their 2018 summer tour with a stop at Ommegang Brewery. The country-bluegrass group most well-known for their song “Wagon Wheel,” announced Friday, an expansive tour throughout the U.S. in support of their upcoming album Volunteer.

    This will be the band’s 20th anniversary, as they plan to kick-off their tour with a two-night stint in Nashville, TN on April 20 when the band also plans to drop their latest album. Old Crow will hit Cooperstown on July 14 as part of the Ommegang Summer Concert Series. They will also be making stops in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Vermont as well.

  • Willie Nelson Announces Dates and a Star-Studded Lineup for Second Leg of Outlaw Music Festival

    Willie Nelson is heading back out on tour. And he’s taking some famous friends with him. Van Morrison and Neil Young are just a few of the stars that have been announced to join the second leg of the 2018 Outlaw Music Festival, joining a host of other well known and established musical acts.  The tour, which features a rotating cast of bands each night, stops in Saratoga Springs on Sunday, September 23 and will feature the legendary Neil Young as the prominent guest that night.  He’ll play a special show with Promise of the Real, who will also be there backing up Lukas Nelson, Willie’s son. The other 7 dates of the increasingly popular roving tour of rock and alt-country music will see lineups with rising stars like Sturgill Simpson, Greensky Bluegrass and Tedeschi Trucks Band on them to supplement Hall of Famers like Morrison and Nelson.

    What started out as a one-time concert in Scranton, PA two years ago has turned into a successful tour for Nelson and Blackbird Presents, a company specializing in the production of large scale concert events. Last year’s tour saw over 100,000 in ticket sales for concerts spread out all over the country.  2018 looks to follow up on that momentum with an opening portion of shows in early summer and the recently announced second leg with dates covering the month of September.  Tickets go on sale Friday, April 6 at 12 pm.   • Toronto’s Common Deer premiere “Mistakes” Video, Announce Northeast shows

    Fresh off their first ever SXSW performances, Toronto indie group Common Deer have debuted the video for “Mistakes,” and have announced additional April dates in the Northeast of the U.S., including April 17 at Rockwood Music Hall in NYC.

    Common Deer formed while in college, centered around the harmonies of Graham McLaughlin (guitar, violin) and Sheila Hart-Owens (keyboards), with Sheila’s brother Adam Hart-Owens (guitar, cello, synths) and brothers Liam Farrell (drums) Connor Farrell (bass).  The group developed their sound and eventually worked with producer Laurence Currie (Wintersleep, Hey Rosetta!) to release EP I, released in January, followed by II released in September and produced by Gus Van Go (Arkells, The Stills).

    Guitarist/violinist Graham McLaughlin shared his thoughts on “Mistakes,” stating “Performing “Mistakes” live is always cathartic. It’s a very personal track about mental illness, specifically depression and anxiety in our current climate, and we hope that others can find the same release listening as we do playing it.”
