  • Blake Shelton’s “Friends & Heroes” 2025 Tour Coming to Albany March 8

    Country superstar Blake Shelton is bringing his 2025 “Friends & Heroes” Tour to the MVP Arena in Albany March 8, with appearances by Craig Morgan, Deana Carter, and Trace Adkins in addition to special guest Emily Ann Roberts.

    American singer-songwriter, television personality, and country music star, Blake Shelton is a household name for fans of today’s country scene. Whether it’s from his 12 albums, his countless singles- 28 of which charted number one, his appearances as a coach on NBC’s The Voice, or his marriage to Gwen Stefani, most are familiar with Blake Shelton’s name. 

    Born and raised in Oklahoma, Shelton has been pursuing music from the very beginning. Immediately after graduating high school, he moved to Nashville and worked his way up to a production contract with Sony Music. After a short period of work for the company and eventually signing as a singer-songwriter with Giant Records, Blake Shelton released his debut single “Austin”, landing him his first number-one hit on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks. Three months later, he released his debut studio album under Warner Bros. Records, and the rest is history.

    Eleven albums, countless awards, and a long list of other accomplishments later, Blake Shelton is returning to the touring lifestyle just off the heels of his Las Vegas residency for his Friends & Heroes 2025 tour, which showcases just that- the musical works of his heroes and friends in the industry. 

    Reviving the concept after the initial Friends & Heroes tour in 2019, the 2025 lineup will feature Grand Ole Opry member and Army veteran Craig Morgan, singer-songwriter and active voice for Artist & Creators with Advocacy in Washington D.C. Deana Carter, singer-songwriter, actor, and two-decade Grand Ole Opry member Trace Adkins, and previous member of Blake Shelton’s team on The Voice, rising country star Emily Ann Roberts.

    Once more, Shelton is partnering with the social platform Propellor to support the work of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Through this partnership, concertgoers can enter to win exclusive experiences and prizes through the Friends & Heroes tour, all while supporting one of the leading research centers for childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

  • Pentatonix Announce 2024 Holiday Tour Making Three Stops in NY

    Pentatonix have announced the dates for their 2024 holiday tour: Hallelujah! It’s A Christmas Tour. Pentatonix’s holiday tradition returns for the third year with their biggest Christmas tour yet. They will play at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 26, in Albany on Nov. 16, and in Buffalo on Nov. 23.

    Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola, and Matt Sallee make up the three-time Grammy-winning and Emmy-nominated quintet, Pentatonix. They have announced a 2024 winter tour going from Nov 14 to Dec 22. The group will hit three venues in New York; Madison Square Garden, MVP Arena in Albany, and KeyBank Center in Buffalo.

    Since emerging in 2011, the vocal quintet has reached unprecedented rights for an a cappella group. They have sold 10 million albums worldwide and have performed everywhere from The White House and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade to The Hollywood Bowl. They have had two albums hit #1 on the Billboard 200—Pentatonix [2015] and A Pentatonix Christmas [2016]. They made history as the first a cappella act to win ‘Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella’ at the Grammys in 2015 and 2016. and again they won a Grammy in the category “Best Country Duo/Group Performance” for their duet with Dolly Parton on her song “Jolene.”

    The group has played at many world-renowned venues and for world-renowned people such as The Kennedy Center Honors for Tom Hanks, covering “That Thing You Do” as President Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama watched from the crowd. They have also collaborated with Kelly Clarkson, Dolly Parton, Miley Cyrus, and Lindsey Stirling, to name a few.

    They played a role in the film Pitch Perfect 2, and in 2023, received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. Pentatonix will also star in the upcoming Netflix holiday romcom, Meet Me Next Christmas.

  • Hackensaw Boys brings Love What You Do 20th Anniversary Tour to New York

    Americana bluegrass band Hackensaw Boys brings their celebratory tour for the 20th Anniversary of their 2005 album, Love What You Do. All in all, the group will bringing performances of the acclaimed project to Woodstock, Syracuse, and New York City this September and October.

    Hackensaw Boys have been touring since 1999, known throughout the country and beyond for their exciting performances and unique use of the “charismo”, a DIY percussion instrument constructed of cans and other household objects. Carving out a distinctive sound of their own, current members David Sickmen (guitar), Caleb Powers (fiddle), Thomas Olivier (mandolin), Taylor Shuck (banjo), Aaron Smith (bass), and Bee Roberts (percussion) have been delivering high energy, down to earth shows as a collective for years now, with yet another sensational tour ahead of them beginning in just a few weeks.

    About “Love What You Do”

    Moreover, the album in question for the upcoming tour is one of their most beloved works, Love What You Do. Released in 2005, the album combines influences from American traditional music and modern indie rock, resulting in fan favorites that are still requested at almost every show just under 20 years later. This tour is a love letter to longtime listeners and fans of some of their oldest works, offering fresh interpretations of the classics while keeping the spirit of the original recordings alive.

    In addition to the live celebration, Hackensaw Boys will be pressing the album to vinyl for the very first time – a physical token to commemorate how far the group has come.

    As a result, Hackensaw Boys will begin their tour on September 26 in Woodstock. In addition to the opening show, the group will be performing in Syracuse on September 27 accompanied by opener Kidbless, and they will return to the state to perform at the Mercury Lounge in New York City on October 6.   • Five For Fighting Announce String Quartet Tour with 7 shows in NYS

    Five For Fighting’s String Quartet Tour kicks off Sept. 26. They will perform over two decades of hits and fan favorites with a four-piece string section. New York shows include stops in Homer, Saratoga Springs, Corning, Bethel, Oneonta, Bethlehem, and Port Washington.

    Five For Fighting, otherwise known as John Ondrasik, is a platinum-selling, and Grammy-nominated songwriter and performer with a career spanning two decades since his first major single, “Superman (It’s Not Easy).” Five For Fighting has released six studio albums, including the certified platinum America Town, and The Battle for Everything.

    Ondrasik says, “The string quartet allows a more intimate experience and the ability to pull songs from my catalog with fantastic string arrangements from world-renowned composers that I do not play with the rock band. The string quartet also performs a multitude of classical and rock songs that change every night that is always a special treat for audiences.” The String Quartet will include the Tony Award-winning concertmaster and co-orchestrator of Moulin Rouge! The Musical Katie Kresek with Melissa Tong, Chris Cardona, and Peter Sachon.

  • Dave Matthews Band Announces Fall Tour, Hit MSG for Two Nights

    Ahead of Dave Matthews Band induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in October, the band has announced a Fall Tour. They will hit many big cities on the eastern half of the country including Madison Square Garden on Nov. 22 and 23.

    Since 1993 when Dave Matthews Band’s first studio album was released, they have been a power house in the rock world selling 38 million CDs and DVDs. They have also sold over 25 million tickets since their birth making them the second largest ticket-seller in history. After the group’s 2018 album Come Tomorow, they became the first ever band to have 7 consecutive studio albums hit number one on the Billboard 200.

    Dave Matthews Band released a new album, the first in five years, Walk Around The Moon in 2023. The album has been praised by many publications and the band has supported it with many concerts and tours since its release. Most recently, they played their traditional Labor Day weekend concerts at The Gorge in Washington state. They will arrive in New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Nov 22 and 23 closing out the six planned dates to take place in November.

    Dave Matthews Band will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 19 in Cleveland, OH. The induction ceremony will stream on Disney+, and will be released on Hulu the next day.

  • Porter Robinson Tears Up Forest Hills Stadium

    On Saturday, August 31, Porter Robinson took the stage at Forest Hills Stadium for the New York stop on his worldwide SMILE! 😀 tour.

    Hot off the release of his latest album, SMILE! :D, Robinson was joined by an incredible four-piece band consisting of keys, drums, guitar, and a dual bassist and backup vocalist. Regardless of whether the band was propped up on the mini stage behind him, or if they joined him on top of the enormous LED screen center stage, they were a stellar support system for Robinson’s infectious energy.

    The seats of Forest Hills Stadium were filled with an endearing and incredibly excited crowd, with many dressed in the pink and black motifs of the album. The rest were adorned in bright, colorful gear resembling his other two albums. Others held signs, fans, or sparklers, occasionally bringing the party out of the pit and into the stands. No matter what album Robinson was playing from, the crowd sang along as they danced and jumped around together in disjointed harmony.

    Robinson opened the tour with a full rendition of his latest album, which, unlike his previous work, resembled that of a rock band. The rest of his show went along in his own Eras-Tour-style fashion, dedicating sections of the evening to his albums with special announcements before each one.

    When Robinson was wrapped up with SMILE! 😀, the enormous LED screen adorned with colorful graphics and lyrics in bright, sparkly fonts would transform into a billboard, with each album’s title and years stretching across the screen.

    After the announcements, Porter Robinson played each of his albums in their entirety. It was endearing to see him look back on all of his work with such passion and admiration but also to see his evolution as an artist. His mixing of music styles from alternative and electronic genres had definitely changed over the years, and it was clear that he intends to continue this steady growth in the future. It was refreshing to see, not only because artists with his acclaim and style tend to be stagnant, but because the passion and thought put into his work is clear.

    The show’s energy seemed neverending, with a crowd that wanted to keep the party going long after the concert’s end. During his set, he brought out special guest Frost Children, who collaborated with him on his song “Mona Lisa,” and even invited his bassist to perform vocals on his older tracks, particularly from Nurture and Worlds.

    Porter Robinson ended the show with an encore of “Shelter” and “Cheerleader,” two of his biggest hits and the most explosive performances of the night. The crowd welcomed him back on stage with resounding cheers and applause, chanting, “One more time!” as he walked off stage. With the end of “Cheerleader” came flashing pink lights and an explosion of paper confetti, blowing away in the wind and getting in the crowd’s hair as they made their exit.

    The rest of Porter Robinson’s tour continues through the end of 2024 and into 2025, spanning across five continents and over 20 countries. Robinson’s next show will take him to Atlanta, Georgia, on September 5. More dates in South America are yet to be announced.

  • A Day To Remember Brings ‘Couple More Shows’ Tour to Syracuse

    A Day To Remember is bringing their Fall 2024 Couple More Shows headline tour to the Upstate Medical Arena at The Oncenter War Memorial in Syracuse on November 4. Special guests August Burns Red and Stand Atlantic will accompany the act.

    Composed of vocalist Jeremy McKinnon, rhythm guitarist Neil Westfall, percussionist and drummer Alex Shelnutt, and lead guitarist Kevin Skaff, A Day To Remember has been delivering punk hits since their conception in 2003 and first official release with And Their Name Was Treason in 2005. 

    Over the past 19 years, the band has released a total of seven studio albums, embarked on several tours in the United States and beyond, and sold over three million units. Now, just after their biggest North American headline run to date, The Least Anticipated Album Tour, A Day To Remember returns to New York for another powerful performance.

    With gritty instrumentals and electrifying choruses that meld the edge of rock and punk with the catchiness of pop, A Day To Remember has always bent the conventions of sound and genre to their will. Audience members at the Upstate Medical Arena will be able to experience a once-in-a-lifetime performance filled with sounds that are uniquely ‘A Day To Remember’.

    Supporting bands August Burns Red and Stand Atlantic will also be performing the evening of November 4. 

    August Burns Red shares history with A Day To Remember, also debuting their metal sound in 2003. Two-time Grammy nominees, their most recent release Death Below marks their tenth studio album.

    Pop punk band Stand Atlantic originates in Sydney, Australia. With four studio albums, three EPs, and a myriad of singles, Stand Atlantic will be adding this tour to their impressive repertoire of tours they have opened in addition to their own shows, presenting audiences with their contemporary twist to the traditional pop punk sound.

    Couple More Shows in Syracuse will begin at 7:00PM, November 4 at the Upstate Medical University Arena at the Oncenter War Memorial.

  • KRS-One to Headline 4th Annual Tour For Life Concert At The Brooklyn Monarch

    This Sunday at The Brooklyn Monarch, MC’s better act like they know, as KRS-One headlines the annual Tour For Life concert this Sunday, August 18. Uniquely, Tour For Life is essentially a rap concert that also advocates for mental health awareness within the hip-hop community. At each stop, on-site therapists offer free sessions, live art, giveaways, community mending art projects, and performances. Presented by Full Blast Booking, a Connecticut-based booking company that specializes in booking tours, Tour For Life has raised over $60,000 for mental health non-profits over the past three years. Hence, this year’s tour will be raising money for organizations such as Mental Health Connecticut.

    KRS will headline Tour for Life this Sunday August, 18.

    Tour For Life’s Final Weekend

    Yet, Brooklyn will be the final stop for Tour for Life. This weekend’s performances, from August 15 – 17,  will see Tour For Life make stops in various neighboring east coast states including Rhode Island, Connecticut and New Hampshire. Meanwhile, performances will feature hip-hop headliners Sage Francis, Billy Danze of M.O.P., and Rome Streetz. Supporting this stop on the tour will be artists such as, Duece Bug, Konflik, Sosoon + Tony Dimes, DTaylz, Neema MC, Mickey Bourbon, Mic Hoffa, and more.

    With this intention, Tour for Life also works to provide a platform for legendary headliners, as well a the many talented and independent artists from all over the nation. Thus, with the tour’s final stop will see hip hop pioneer/legend KRS-One replace initial headliner Redman. However, with one of the most comprehensive discographies in hip hop as well as a bevy of thought-provoking lyrics, KR-One is no stranger to nuance nor the healing properties of rap music.

  • State Champs Prepare for Nationwide Tour, One Stop in New York

    Albany-born and bred punk band State Champs gear up for a nationwide tour this fall, starting on November 8 in Austin, Texas. Joining them are supporting acts Knuckle Puck, Meet Me at The Altar, and Daisy Grenade.

    State Champs will end their tour in their home state, closing the tour at Manhattan’s Webster Hall on December 7.

    For the last decade, State Champs have become a household name in the world of pop-punk. The band is comprised of singer Derek DiScanio, guitarist Tyler Szalkowski, bassist Ryan Scott Graham, and drummer Evan Ambrosio. Starting with the release of their debut album, The Finer Things, State Champs have been gathering fans of all generations to enjoy

    Together, they have played at numerous festivals, including Alive at 5 and Frozen Fire. They have written alongside some of the genre’s biggest names, including Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 and Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low.

    Over the years, State Champs received massive critical acclaim. From Kerrang!, to Upset, Alternative Press, and Rock Sound, they have been met with astounding support from fans and rock critics alike. In 2018, after the release of their third album, Living Proof, Billboard dubbed them “modern-day pop-punk torchbearers.”

    Live performances with State Champs are nothing if not passionate and energetic, this tour being no exception. They always focus on keeping their energy and giving the crowd something they will never forget. Authenticity is the priority, exemplified by Evan Ambrosio’s statements in a past interview: “We focus on life as we experience it, not an event we didn’t have a part in. We write about things that stay true to what we experience, and not try to jump on a trend of ultimate sadness or TikTok videos, so we can maintain authenticity and stay true to what the band has built up.”

  • Hearing Aide: Lotus “How to Dream in Color,” Announces New York Show and Full Tour

    On July 15, Lotus released their newest studio album, How to Dream in Color, embarking on a nationwide tour starting this past week, ending on New Year’s Eve in Philadelphia. This energetic, unique, and funky album is another hit for their discography, combining easy-listening funk with hip-hop and pop that gives it a perfect retro feel.

    With a musical style as unique as Lotus, it can be hard to grab the attention of listeners and keep them interested. The opening track, “How Do I Come Down,” immediately captures the listener with a hypnotic drum beat and steady guitar riffs but quickly differentiates itself with funky, distorted vocals scattered throughout. It truly sets the tone for the rest of the album and may not be something that you’re used to, but it’s just as groovy nonetheless.

    Throughout the album, Lotus manages to keep the listener on their toes. The album acts as a tribute to longtime percussionist Chuck Morris, following his and his son’s passing in 2023. During this transitional period, Lotus embraced a new approach to recording, including the use of layered drum sounds and a collage-based style that shows how far they’ve come their first few albums like Nomad (2005) or even their 2011 self-titled album.

    With each track’s style, there is still a signature electronic spin one would expect from Lotus. How to Dream in Color puts the spotlight on the instrumentalists and gives them a chance to truly shine and show off their talents and experimentation through multiple genres. Most of the album is dedicated to the music itself, giving their musicianship a chance to shine. Songs with vocals like “Can You Hear the Sound” and the opening track “How Do I Come Down” are great introductions to the album, and elegantly juxtaposed against the full-instrumental tracks that surround it.
