  • On-The-Go! Tours to Travel Around the Capital Region

On-The-Go! Tour performances are set to travel throughout the Capital Region, beginning this fall and running through 2025.

    On-The-Go! Tour Performance

Collaborative School of the Arts On-The-Go! tours are sponsored by Citizens Bank and include “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” and “Friend of a Friend: Tales of the Underground Railroad.”

    On-The-Go! 2024 Performances

On-The-Go! will be performing “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” by Washington Irving, from October through November 2. Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill adapted the play, with Justin Friello and Lecco Morris providing original music. In the play, Hollywood A-Lister Jasmine Vander Hooven finds herself alone on a gloomy night to perform a podcast of Irving’s classic. Fans do not need to worry as Mancinelli-Cahill’s adaptation gives Irving’s tale contemporary treatment that honors the original. Complete with live Foley sound effects and music, the performance is sure to inspire and delight audiences of all ages.

In addition to specialized student matinee performances, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” will have public performances at each Proctors Collaborative venue on Saturdays at 11am. The locations and dates for these performances are as follows:

    10/19 at theREP

10/26 at the GE Theatre at Proctors

11/2 in the Great Hall of Universal Preservation Hall

    2025 Performances

Starting in 2025, On-The-Go’s “Friend of a Friend: Tales of the Underground Railroad” by Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill and Jill Rafferty-Weinisch will begin on January 27 and end on February 15.

On-The-Go! Tours "Friend of a Friend"

Through the captivating narrative of Capital Region natives like Solomon Northup and his family, and Harriet and Stephen Myers, the audience is taken on a journey along the Underground Railroad.

Given Albany’s significance to the story, this original docu-play draws upon New York State archival records – vividly exhibiting the repercussions of the Fugitive Slave Act within the Capital Region’s historical landscape.

“Friend of a Friend” will also feature public performances, in addition to specialized student matinees, on Saturdays at 11am. The dates and locations for these performances are as follows:

2/1 at the Great Hall at UPH

2/8 on the MainStage at theREP

2/15 in the GE Theatre at Proctors

Tickets to the public performances are available through Proctor’s Box Office in-person, via phone at (518) 346-6204 Monday-Saturday from 10-6, or online here. To book an On-The-Go! tour stop at your school or business, visit here.

  • Monobloc, NYC’s DIY Sensation Takes The Global Stage with “Irish Goodbye”

In the fall of 2022, Timothy Waldron, lead vocalist of the emerging band Monobloc, found himself captivated by a live performance of Eric Burdon and War’s “Spill The Wine” while navigating life in a new city.

This moment of inspiration sparked the creation of their latest single, “Irish Goodbye,” which premieres a post-punk sound, explaining the pressures of being young in a new city, a topic many can relate to as it can be challenging adapting in a new place. Not to mention a situation the band has experienced, giving credibility to their point of view. Storytelling prowess and minimalist instrumentation position them as a band to watch as they carve out their own lane in NYC’s vibrant DIY landscape.

Helmed by vocalist Timothy Waldron and bassist Michael Silverglade are alongside Zach Pockrose on drums and guitarists Ben Scofield and Nina Luders, each contributing their emotionally charged sounds. The band merges pop with a gritty post-punk attitude therefore, drawing inspiration from their come up in New York’s underground scene.

Monobloc gained notable attention for creating the viral Minecraft music festival, Block by Blockwest. This innovative virtual event combined their passion for music with the popular gaming platform, allowing fans to experience live performances in a unique, immersive environment.

Their storytelling abilities shines along with their patterned instrumentals, making them stand out as an innovative force. Additionally, their distinctive talent and the success of their first two singles, “Where is My Garden,” and “I’m Just Trying To Love You,” it shows that with their irresistible catchy melodic rock sound, they are just getting into the groove of things.

Accompanied by their thoughtful narrative point of view, paired with raw, minimalist instrumentation, makes them a standout act. On the other hand, making a splash in sold-out residency at Pianos and performances at major festivals like Rock En Seine and All Points East has given them a chance to propel onto the global stage.

  • Bullet for My Valentine and Trivium Announce Co-Headlining Tour

Bullet for My Valentine and Trivium have announced their co-headlining “The Poisoned Ascendancy Tour”, including a stop at The Rooftop at Pier 17 in Manhattan on May 7.

Both heavy metal pioneers in their own rights, Bullet for My Valentine and Trivium are celebrating prolific 20th anniversaries this year – Bullet for My Valentine honors 20 years since their debut album The Poison, and Trivium celebrates their second album, Ascendancy. With long histories of releases and successes between both acts, The Poisoned Ascendancy Tour is not to be missed.

A mainstay within the metal community and British music as a whole since inception, Bullet for My Valentine has amassed more than 3.5 million album sales all while touring the globe since their inception in 1998 and signing with Sony BMG in 2002. Their debut album as well as their reason for celebration this tour, Bullet for My Valentine’s The Poison resulted in immediate success, bringing the band to number 11 on the Independent Albums chart and 128 on the Billboard 200 alongside a lengthy tour in addition to appearances opening for Metallica and Guns N’ Roses, and the 2006 Vans Warped Tour.

Since The Poison’s release, the band has released six other studio albums, earned several nominations and awards from KERRANG! and beyond, and toured countless times worldwide, but the debut album will always remain in the hearts of the fans as well as the band itself for marking such powerful beginnings.

Formed in 1999, heavy metal band Trivium has been touring their personal spin on metal for over 20 years now. With ten studio albums, a few name awards under their belt, and several nominations including a Grammy nomination in 2019, Trivium’s success is not unearned. Their now canonical and second album ever Ascendancy is a testament to this- named KERRANG!’s “Album of the Year”, one of the top fifteen albums on Metal Hammer’s list of “The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of the 21st Century”, and earning the band a gold certification in the UK, there’s little question as to why Ascendancy is topic of celebration for the upcoming tour.

A celebration of how far both headlining acts have come and where they began, The Poisoned Ascendancy Tour will be the final time both acts will perform their iconic debut albums in full. With incredible company in each other as well as the opening acts, this tour will hit close to home for both older fans who were there to see every step of the way as well as newer fans who never had the chance to catch the earlier releases live.

In addition to the two iconic acts, August Burns Red, Bleed From Within, and Sylosis will accompany the tour. The Poisoned Ascendancy Tour will be arriving in New York on May 7 at The Rooftop at Pier 17 in Manhattan, with ticket sales beginning on Friday, September 20. • Metallica to Bring ‘M72’ World Tour to Syracuse

Metallica has announced an expansion to their three year M72 World Tour with 21 North American Dates, including one night in New York at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse on April 19, 2025.

    Metallica Syracuse

Barely needing any introduction, Metallica is one of the biggest selling acts in American history and have been leaving their heavy metal mark on the world since the band’s inception in 1981. Known as one of the “big four” bands of thrash metal alongside Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer, Metallica has rather humble origins.

Formed through newspaper ads and mutual friends, the band had found themselves traveling to Rochester, New York in a stolen U-Haul to record their first album in 1983, resulting in their debut album Kill ‘Em All which quickly caught the underground metal scene by storm.

Metallica just couldn’t stop the success from there, their third album Master of Puppets being hailed by fans as both the band’s best work and one of heaviest metal albums ever, their fourth album …And Justice for All earning the band its first Grammy nomination, and their fifth achieving mainstream commercial success not seen before with more than 16 million copies.

With 11 studio albums, 10 Grammys, and 37 tours under their belt, Metallica is a metal legend to be reckoned with- but they aren’t done yet. Having begun the M72 World Tour in April of 2023 in celebration of the band’s latest studio album 72 Seasons, Metallica has announced 21 additional North American Dates that will push the tour through 2025.

Metallica at Metlife Stadium, August 2023 – photo by Rob Tellerman

The band will be paying a visit to New York on April 19, playing a show at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse. Supported by heavy metal band Pantera and thrash band Suicidal Tendencies, this tour is not to be missed.

As is tradition with Metallica, a portion of all ticket sales will go to local charities through the band’s All Within My Hands foundation that was established in 2017 so they could give back to the communities who have supported them throughout the years. Thus far, All Within My Hands has raised over $15 million, which has provided $8.2 million in grants to career and tech education programs including the ground-breaking Metallica Scholars Initiative, over $3.6 million to combat food insecurity, and more than $3.5 million to disaster relief funds.

Tickets for Metallica in Syracuse at JMA Wireless Dome go on sale on Friday, September 27 at 10:00 AM. For further information and ticket sales, please visit their website here.

    Dua Lipa Tour promotional artwork

    About Dua Lipa

To the younger pop-consuming generations, three-time GRAMMY and seven-time BRIT Award winning global pop sensation Dua Lipa needs no introduction. Since signing a record deal in 2014, she’s released hit after hit. Her fifth overall single “Blow Your Mind (Mwah)” became her first entry on the US Billboard Hot 100 at 72, followed by her self titled first album that became her first ever number one in the UK, and the first female solo artist to top that chart since Adele’s “Hello” in 2015.

With this release, her career skyrocketed. Followed by countless top ten charting tracks, appearances at major festivals, becoming Spotify’s most streamed woman of 2017 in the UK, and countless award nominations. In January of 2018, Dua Lipa broke records once again by receiving five nominations at the Brit Awards, becoming the first female artist to do so ever.

Thus, after an extensive list of other successes, singles, reissues, and remixes, Dua Lipa is touring with her most recent release, Radical Optimism. Released on May 3, 2024, the album went number 1 in 11 countries, and became the biggest album to debut from a UK artist in 2024. Moreover, hailed as a “joyous blast of pop savvy” by Variety and “an album of ear candy” by New York Times, Dua Lipa will be bringing her electrifying new release to the stage beginning this fall.

  • TV On The Radio Announce Special ‘Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes’ 20th Anniversary Edition

Brooklyn-based band TV On The Radio has announced a 20th anniversary edition of their critically acclaimed debut album, Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes, featuring five bonus tracks to be released on November 15, in addition to a return to live performance to celebrate.

Desperate Youth Bloodthirsty Babes TV on the radio

Composed of Tunde Adebimpe, Dave Sitek, Kyp Malone, and Jaleel Bunton, TV on the Radio has developed a reputation that precedes them over their past twenty-plus years as a rock band. Recognized for their eclectic sound and experimental attitude, the band has toured worldwide, collaborated with countless household names, and released a total of five studio albums among a plethora of singles. An act of rebellion by simply existing as a Black indie rock band and a force of sonic exploration, TV on the Radio is truly not to be missed.

Now, just over twenty years since their debut album, TV on the Radio is returning to the public eye for a celebratory re-release of Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes, featuring five bonus tracks, two of which are unreleased. The first, “Final Fantasy,”  is out now  and is an early demo of their song “Bomb Yourself.”

Recognized by Rolling Stone as “an immaculate album about disappointment in all its forms” and featured in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die, TV on the Radio’s first album release had made its mark on the world from the start. Saturated with concepts of life, love, and loss through the lens of post-9/11 America and heavy with the tension felt by the youngest generations at the time, Desperate Youth puts visceral emotions into words and words into never-before-heard sound.

In addition to the exciting rerelease, TV on the Radio has announced their first shows since 2019, with multiple nights in New York City at the historic Webster Hall.
