Since their formation in Massachusetts during 1998, All That Remains have built an undeniable legacy upheld by airtight song craft, knifepoint precise metallic instrumentation, and stadium-size hard rock hooks. As a result, they’ve outlasted trials, tribulations, and trends to stand tall as as one of this century’s most consistent purveyors of heavy music with a bulletproof canon of arena-worthy anthems.
In addition to packing houses as a headliner, they’ve practically burned down festival stages everywhere from Rock on the Range to Welcome to Rockville. In 2018, the quintet—Philip Labonte [lead vocals], Jason Richardson [lead guitar], Mike Martin [rhythm guitar], Jason Costa [drums], and Matt Deis [bass, backing vocals]— perfect their patented pummeling by wasting no time or energy at all on their ninth full-length album, Victim of the New Disease [Fearless Records]. Long Island hardcore band, Rule Them All, are back with their new single ‘Uneasy Faith’ off their split with Kill Your Idols. The split features four songs, with two by Rule Them All and two by Kill Your Idols.
‘Uneasy Faith’ is a blunt, but melodic track that draws listeners in with dynamic riffs and deep lyrical meaning. Centered around the idea of taking chances even when success seems unlikely, it gives listeners the added boost they might have needed to get through a tough situation.
“Sometimes, the only thing you have behind you when you take a leap of faith is belief in yourself and even then it’s not enough. It deals with the idea that expectation can hinder your progress and can even deter you from leaping all together.”
Vocalist Jon Gusman
During production of the split, both bands recorded with Kill Your Idols drummer, Anthony Corallo. KYI’s tracks were mixed and mastered by Will Killingsworth, while Rule Them All’s tracks were mixed and mastered by Brian McTernan.
PC : Matt Viel
Formed in 2017, Rule Them All aims to blend vintage and modern styles of hardcore rock while keeping the Long Island aggression that they’re known for. Solid riffs and hard hitting drums keep fans coming back for more as they continue to etch out their place in NY musical history.
‘Uneasy faith’ is available now on all streaming platforms, with the vinyl coming out on 7/22. More information about the band can be found here.
On Sunday, February 27, nearly 20,000 fans packed into the KeyBank Center in Buffalo to witness one of the most unique rock bands around, Tool. One of the most mysterious and eye catching shows you can witness, with really incredible visuals produced by the band’s guitarist, Adam Jones, Tool last played in the region in May 2017 at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, and had since released their critically acclaimed album Fear Inoculum which this tour supported.
TOOL KeyBank Center in Buffalo, NY
Fans poured into the arena in high spirits to be greeted to a stage obscured by a translucent curtain. Tool is known for two things at their concerts, one being the absolute incredible visuals, and the other is their extremely strict no cell phone/camera policy. Signs were plastered all over the venue, even in the bathrooms to warn fans that all types of photography and video were prohibited and could result in ejection. You would think people would see this and take it seriously, right?
As the lights went out in the stadium and the translucent curtain that wrapped around the stage began to light up, the band members began to make their entrance onto the stage. When Danny Carey, one of the greatest drummers of all time made his entrance with a quick wave before sitting at his impressive drum kit, the arena erupted in cheers. Next followed both Adam Jones and Justin Chancellor as they begin jamming the self-titled song off the album Fear Inoculum. Maynard James Keenan then kind of crept his way to the back platform, appearing as a silhouette with a mowhawk.
Maynard James Keenan / TOOL
The visuals kicked right up to 11 as Tool began their set. The slow start to their songs begin often soft and soothing and transform into a powerful climax over the course of 10 minutes. One thing about the no cellphone policy is it truly allows you and everyone else to really appreciate the production of the show. While most attendees followed the guidance, there were definitely some who took the risk of trying to film. These individuals would quickly be spotted by security and their led flashlights shined right at their face as a warning, before being escorted out of the venue.
Throughout the set, Maynard prowled the back of the stage like a caged animal. This is his M.O as he previously has stated that the other members playing the instruments deserve the focus. Most of Tool’s performance featured elaborate and complex grooves met with bursts of ferocity and visuals to match. Both Justin and Adam played very well off each other, and Danny Carey absolutely killed it on the drums. You could feel the power behind the extremely complex time signatures he would play, and being able to watch him perform was very enjoyable.
Highlights of Tool’s performance included the translucent curtain slowly opening to reveal the band during their performance of “Pushit” in dramatic fashion as vivid hallucinatory imagery encompassed the band. Danny Carey’s absolutely insane drum solo titled “Chocolate Chip Trip,” which had overhead cameras displaying on the backdrop allowing everyone to witness his insane skill and speed as he played to a synthesizer.
Adam Jones / TOOL
Before playing the final song of the night, Maynard spoke for the second time of the evening saying thank you and then allowing everyone to record the last song with their cellphones. The only request he had was to “turn off you’re fucking lights, if you don’t know how, ask your phone.. it’s a smart phone.” The band then went into “Invincible” which was an epic finish to their performance.
Going to a Tool concert is more like an immersive experience of watching songs come to life with mind blowing visuals and people in the shadows playing the instruments. The band doesn’t talk in-between songs like many other artists do, and the entire focus of the event is strictly on the music itself. They are truly unique in a time when many musicians sound similar to others, and Tool shows no signs of slowing down.

Between the Buried in Me (BTBAM) is a progressive metal band formed in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2000, and played the Rec Room in Buffalo on March 4, 2022. This was the first time that the band has played Buffalo since 2015 where they played Town Ballroom. Rec Room is a smaller venue holding around 300 people so this was a very intimate show.
BTBAM’s tour is titled “Human is Hell” and has their opening band as Car Bomb. The tour has 30 dates and runs through the end of March. This is also opener Car Bomb’s first tour back from the COVID-19 pandemic, finally giving the mathcore band a chance to showcase their material from 2019’s Mordial.

Car Bomb is from Long Island and have been around since 2000. Their style is marked by an experimental and extremely aggressive approach to metal. They sound absolutely ferocious. Their psychotic turbo-thrash is disgustingly disorientating, ‘Frankensteining’ Meshuggah and The Dillinger Escape Plan into one relentless onslaught of time-chopping violence. BTBAM band members consist of: Michael Dafferner (vocals), Elliot Hoffman (drums), Greg Kubacki (guitar), and Jon Modell (bass).
The show started off earlier than usual for a metal show in Buffalo with two bands on the bill. The band kicked off the show right on time and gave the crowd their monies worth. The band’s 14 song setlist featured such songs as “Finish it” and “Lights Out”. The singer for Car Bomb tried to tell a joke in between songs about an item called a “Garbage Plate”, but was soon corrected by the crowd yelling that is a Rochester food item only. By the time Car Bomb had finished their set, the venue was mostly packed awaiting BTBAM’s start.

Since the Covid pandemic started, there have not been many metal concerts like this in Buffalo. Especially at small venues like the Rec Room where you can literally reach out and touch the band. The fans were very eager to start mosh pits the second Between the Buried and Me hit the stage. You could feel the energy in the room from when the intro music was started by the drummers sample pad. The smoke machine went on and the lights went dark. You could feel the anticipation of the song starting. They opened with “The Double Helix of Extinction” off the album Colors II. BTBAM has grown and matured a-lot since their inception 22 years ago.

Between the Buried and Me made use of their vertical light towers to put on an amazing synced bright light show. The fans were loving every minute of the show and being able to release their built up anger and stress in the mosh pit is not only fun, but should be considered exercise. BTBAM was very calm and collective during their set, focusing on playing their instruments while interacting with the fans.
BTBAM chose not to put song names on their setlist, but of Buffalo Bills players instead. This was done so fans up close to the stage would not know what song is coming up next.

Metalcore and screamo titans Underoath are currently on tour supporting their ninth LP Voyeurist. Since hitting the road in early February, the Voyeruist North American Tour has been making stops along the west coast but on March 17th the band will make their way to Bushwick’s Brooklyn Steel. The gig will mark Underoath’s first New York show since playing The Saratoga PAC back in August of 2019. Support on these shows comes from the newly formed Canadian metalcore band Spiritbox, and recently Stray from the Path and Bad Omens have been added to the bill. Find the full tour details HERE.
Underoath took a new approach to the album process on Voyeurist, their second album from Fearless Records. The band self-recorded the entire record with collaborator and engineer JJ Revel. Referring to the album as “high-def violence” Underoath utilize modern technology and recording techniques while still harnessing the energy from the band’s raw, chaotic metalcore style. Every track on Voyeurist pays homage to the band’s distinct sound while coming through the speakers as sharp as ever. Check out the official video for lead single “Damn Excuses” below.

The bill is rounded out by fellow screamo veterans Stray from the Path and relative new comers Bad Omens and Spiritbox. Bad Omens have just released their third LP (all on Sumerian Records) The Death of Peace of Mind last Friday, February 25th and Spiritbox is also supporting their last album Eternal Blue, released last September on Rise Records. Spiritbox is led by the incredible vocalist Courtney LaPlante of Iwrestledabearonce fame. The Voyeurist tour has put together a terrific lineup showcasing the legacy and future of metalcore in one night.

Tickets are still available for the Brooklyn Steel gig, but they are running low. The show is certain to sell out in advance so secure a ticket now to catch this incredible lineup and stay tuned for our photo gallery from the concert.
Canadian death metal group Necronomicon will arrive in North America for a tour this Spring. They will co-headline with a fellow metal group, The Convalescence between April and June.
This musical journey will embark on April 29 in Kalamazoo, MI at Papa Pete’s and will move throughout the states, making a stop in Rochester Montage Music Hall on June 1. Necronomicon will perform their latest album “UNUS”, which can be streamed or downloaded here.
I think I don’t need to mention how hard these last years have been for everyone, and it’s about time that we get back to a healthy music scene. We are more than happy to be back in the U.S. We really hope you guys will come and support us as we bring you ‘Vivus Verum’ on this run. Hail to all of you.
Rob The Witch
The music group was founded in 1988 by guitarist and singer Rob “The Witch”. Since their first full length album “Pharoah of Gods” dropped in 2002, Necronomicon has evolved over time. In 2019, they became the second band ever since VOIVOD to receive a certificate of honor for over 30 years of being in the music industry.
“UNUS” is a dark and black metal album that brings about darkness, brutality and elegance all in one. Along with machine like drums there is a special feature by Geirlioz (Dimmu Borgir) on Piano in ”From Ashes Into Flesh”. Necronomicon cannot wait to put on the performance of a lifetime for their American fans.

Metallica might still be the biggest name in the metal scene. After releasing Ride The Lightning in 1984 and Master of Puppets in 1986, the band has achieved unprecedented longevity. Since their nascency, the band has released ten critically acclaimed studio albums, sold-out world tours, and cemented themselves as a household name.
This year, the band will be performing only two stadium shows in the United States. On Thursday, August 11 the band will play at Highmark Stadium in Buffalo, the home of the Buffalo Bills. They’ll then play PNC Park in PIttsburgh a few days later on Tuesday, August 14.
The band previously played the stadium in 1992 alongside Guns N’ Roses, and after 20 years, Metallica is expected to put host a legendary night. Playing at Highmark Stadium is a big feat in and of itself. The venue has only hosted only a number of artists, and among them include legendary acts like Fleetwood Mac, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Billy Joel, and more. Three days later, the band will play at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, PA, the home venue of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Greta Van Fleet and Ice Nine Kills will open for Metallica. Greta Van Fleet is known for imitating a 70s rock sound with lower fidelity and impressive vocals. Ice Nine Kills’ sound is much more abrasive and edgy. Both bands have gained universal respect in the rock scene, and are perfect openers for the iconic band.
Presale tickets will be available to Legacy Fan Club members at 9 a.m. ET and General Fan Club members at 11 a.m. ET on Monday, February 28th. General public tickets will be available on March 4th on Ticketmaster. For more information visit https://www.metallica.com/
This summer The St, STADIUM TOUR with Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Poison, and Joan Jett, will be heading to two NY dates, at Citi Field and Highmark Stadium.
With over one million tickets sold, STADIUM TOUR is finally happening after two summers of COVID postponing it. It is a tour so massive, it is being held in North America’s biggest stadiums.
THE STADIUM TOUR SUMMER 2022: DEF LEPPARD, MÖTLEY CRÜE, With POISON And JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS
Following the huge success of their Netflix biopic, THE DIRT, Mötley Crüe has seen a huge surge in new fans, and a new younger demographic is listening to them. The band has sold over 100 million albums worldwide and has close to five billion streams across different platforms.
Def Leppard is one of the most important forces in rock music and has amassed a younger demographic of listeners as well. They have almost six billion streams with 110 million records sold.
Joan Jett changed the way rock and roll operate, being a female rocker in a time when there were few girls in the scene. Having nine top 40 hits and a career spanning film, TV, and Broadway, she is a force to be reckoned with.
Finally, the emerging band Classless Act will be opening. They were scouted by Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee after he heard their single “Give It To Me.” Speaking of opening bands, Lee had this to say.
I remember when we went out with Ozzy in 1984 and how it was an insane game changer!! We literally blew up after having that opportunity to play live in front of 20,000 people every f***ing night! Since then, we’ve always felt it was important to help new bands; whether it was Guns N Roses, Skid Row or so many others. This summer we’re gonna help out Classless Act.

Ithaca is a town in New York State, and was originally a place in Greece. However, the Ithaca that we’re here to discuss is a music group from London, whose new album, They Fear Us, will be out July 29th.
So now that we all know why we have gathered here today, let’s talk about the first single from that album, which is also the title track for They Fear Us.
The genre tags for this album are a mix of metal and hardcore, with the sub-genres listed as melodic hardcore and emotional hardcore. If you fine readers are aware of hardcore, you’ll know that it is usually based off of slamming riffs, screamed vocals, attitude, and a no holds barred use of power.
As the track begins you’ll hear some intense vocal work, and they have a lot of the hardcore sound. The guitar riff is rooted in that genre as well, and has a cool, bouncy feel going on.
As things progress there is a heavy Killswitch Engage influence, and that holds through the chorus section too, while the vocals remind me more of the cleans from Miss May I; both of those bands are amazing, so hearing their influence here is a reminder of that, and of how much they really inspired other bands.
While the full They Fear Us album won’t be released for another 5 months, we feel that you should go check out the single on Bandcamp today. They may not be breaking much new ground in terms of the genre, but what Ithaca put together is quite good, and we eagerly anticipate their next release.
