  • Curveball Cancelled Due to Aftermath of Heavy Rain

    After several counties in NY calling a state of emergency due to recent heavy rains, Curveball coordinators were forced to make the unfortunate decision to cancel the Phish music festival in Watkins Glen as a matter of public health and safety. After exploring every avenue to try to keep the festival afloat, the required permits that deem the festival site safe for thousands of people to inhabit it for the duration of the weekend could not be granted, and the festival was cancelled.

    Most notably, there was no reasonable way to deliver the necessary amount of clean drinking water needed to run the festival. The local sewage treatment plant could not keep up with the onslaught of rain and local supplies became contaminated.

    According to security, those already en route are permitted to arrive until 7:30 pm Thursday, but must be out by 12:00 pm Friday.

  • Brooklyn’s Bushicks release two new songs

    Bushicks (pronounced bush-hicks), a power trio based out of the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn with  members all originating from Upstate New York, have announced the release of two singles; “When Life Gives You Lemonade” and “Truffle Shuffle” as a Digital 45rpm to all major platforms.

    Working with talented Engineer, Phil Duke at Continental Recording Studios in Long Island City, Jonny “Bushick” Patrizio (Guitar/Lead Vocals), Jess Bogwicz (Bass Guitar), and John Adamski (Drums/Backing Vocals) add their own style to the classic sounds of rock ‘n roll. Patrizio’s songwriting and vocal approach adds a fresh take on the genre while making use of the large selection of vintage equipment available at the studio. A 1960’s Montgomery Ward amp was used on both tracks.

    Bushicks are a REAL Rock and Roll band. There are many imitators out there, but these guys don’t need to fake it. Drawing upon inspiration from our heroes of yesterday, I had the pleasure of recording a band that is building for the future and continuing the spirit of great Rock and Roll music. For a young band, I am excited to hear them grow and I hope you do too.

    Bushicks will be headlining Brooklyn Bowl on Sunday, Sept. 16 with Johnny Butler and The Epic Fail and Brooklyn natives, Ltrain.   • Disturbed Finishes Recording New Album

    Heavy metal legends, Disturbed, have announced that the band has completed their seventh yet-to-be-named studio album.

    On the bands upcoming album, Disturbed ventured off into several different styles of music. The band is leaning on their fanbase, the “Disturbed1’s,” to vote in an online poll, what kind of single the band should release first, heavy, or ballad.

    Disturbed stated: “The new record is done! The new album includes many styles of music. Since our last album and the recent footage from the studio, we’ve seen a lot of discussion about the evolution of our new music. Disturbed Ones, we have decided to embrace the debate. For our next single — what kind of sound do you want it to be?”

    Blabbermouth reports that in a recent behind-the-scenes video of the band, frontman David Draiman stated about the upcoming album: “You fight for the strength of your creation, you fight to make the greatest thing you possibly can, and it’s worth every minute, it’s worth every bit of sweat, it’s worth every tear. So that’s what we live for. Every time we put out a piece of art, it continues to define who we are. What could possibly be more important than that and require more of your focus and your time and your energy.”

    In a past interview with The Pulse of Radio, guitarist Dan Donegan talked about the band being totally prepared and on the same page before entering the studio: “I mean, we definitely go in there very prepared. We never enter the studio unless we feel like, right now, if these are the songs we record, that we would have an album that we’re proud of and we’re excited about. And we put everything under the microscope and examine it the best we can to make sure that we’re prepared. We don’t like going in there wasting time. We go in there to work, and to try to make the best album we can.”

  • Stop Making Sense Re-Creation at The Capitol Theatre

    The Talking Heads concert film, Stop Making Sense, will be re-created for one time only at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester on Friday, Dec. 28 by the tribute band Start Making Sense.

    Stop Making Sense came out in 1984, featuring a live performance by the Talking Heads. It was directed by Jonathan Demme and was shot over three nights at Hollywood’s Pantages Theater in December, 1983 while the group was touring to promote their newest album.

    Start Making Sense is a seven piece Talking Heads tribute band which takes pride in faithfully recreating the music of Talking Heads’ entire career. Their front man, Jon Braun, does a “spot-on David Byrne” according to their website.

    The band is made up of, Jon Braun on lead vocals & guitar, Jon Fadem on lead guitar & backing vocals, Ryan Berg on percussion & backing vocals, Brad Murray on keyboards, Michael Davidson on bass, Jesse Braun on drums, Jenny Founds on backing Vocals, Kathleen Weber on backing vocals.

    The show is 18 & over unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and is $29.75/$55 in advance or $35/$60 on the day of the show. Doors open at 7:00 pm and the show starts at 8:00 pm.

  • SiriusXM announces limited run Phish channel

    SiriusXM recently announced the latest channel addition to their satellite radio lineup, Phish, which will be taking over Jam On’s Channel 29 for a limited time.

    It’s not uncommon for notable acts to receive channels on SiriusXM. Some of the acts who have them include, the Grateful Dead, Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, Tom Petty and U2 but Phish has been a highly anticipated by Phans to have their own dedicated station.

    Phish’s time on Jam On’s Channel 29 starts on Friday, Aug. 3 and runs through Wednesday, Aug. 15. On Thursday, Aug. 16 – Sunday, Aug. 19 Channel 29 will air a simulcast of festival radio, The Bunny from Phish’s Curveball festival in Watkins Glen before Jam On returns to the airwaves on Monday, Aug. 20.

    The Phish Radio channel will include music from the entirety of the band’s career including live cuts, studio tracks, unreleased demos, songs from the group’s influences and exclusive commentary from members of the quartet.

    Phish Radio is set to launch at 12 p.m. ET this Friday with an“Ask Trey” section featuring Trey Anastasio’s responses to questions asked by listeners from a call SiriusXM put out earlier in the year. On Friday night, Phish Radio will air a live broadcast of the quartet’s performance at the Verizon Amphitheater in Alpharetta, GA.

  • Color Me Badd singer arrested after allegedly pushing bandmate at show in Waterloo

    Color Me Badd lead singer Bryan Abrams allegedly pushed longtime bandmate Mark Calderon during a performance at Del Lago Casino on July 22. According to Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, the call came in at 9:15 and responding officers arrested Abrams for attempted assault in the third degree. Footage caught by fans show Calderon on stage with two dancers, singing the ’90s hit “I Wanna Sex You Up.” In the video, Calderon was thanking the crowd when Abrams entered from offstage and made contact with Calderon, who then fell to the floor of the stage. The Sheriff’s Office said that Calderon was transported to the local hospital for neck and back pain, where he was treated and released. Abrams is due to reappear in court on August 28 on this charge.

  • M. Shadows Suffers Vocal Injury, A7X Summer Tour Canceled

    Avenged Sevenfold frontman, M Shadows, posted on the band’s social media pages that he has come down with a serious vocal cord injury, forcing him and his band to cancel their upcoming “End of the World” tour featuring Prophets of Rage, Three Days Grace, and HO99O9.

    It seems after the band returned from their run in Europe, Shadows suffered from a viral infection that left him voiceless. Swelling in his throat made it difficult for the doctors to see what exactly was wrong with Shadows. After some voice rest and steroids, the swelling went down and doctors discovered a blood blister on Shadows vocal cords making them unable to vibrate properly.

    Feeling horrible about having to cancel the tour, M Shadows apologized to fans in the statement he posted on social media:

    There is no good way to start out a note containing bad news but here it is.

    After Europe I came down with a terrible viral infection that rendered me voiceless.

    I tried my best to take care of the situation with voice rest, medication and doctor visits but my voice was only getting worse.

    After a week of steroids the swelling went down enough to see the cause of the problem. A blood blister has formed on my vocal folds and is preventing them from vibrating properly. In short, I can’t sing anything at the moment and the more I attempt to the more damage is being done. Luckily, as of now the doctors feel that 3 months of no singing and voice rest should get my chords back on track.

    Unfortunately, this means we will have to cancel all tour dates at the moment.

    Decisions like this weigh on me very heavily. It’s a tour I was looking forward to very much. I want to apologize to the fans who have spent their time and money booking travel arrangements and accommodations. I also want to apologize to our crew and the other bands who were depending on this tour.
    None of these things are lost on me.

    Just know that I have exhausted every possible solution in trying to get out there and perform for you. It just simply can’t happen at the moment.

    We have a few things coming down the pipe soon that should be fun so we hope you look out for those.
    Again, I am deeply sorry and hope to see you all soon.

  • ‘Metalocalypse” Director John Schnepp Dies at 51

    Metalocalypse cartoon series director, John Schnepp, passed away at the age of 51 on July 19 after suffering  a massive stroke on July 12. Schnepp’s sister Deborah and his longtime partner Holly Payne, made the difficult decision to cease life support after learning that Schnepp’s brain had stopped functioning and he would never be the same.

    During Schnepp’s career, the director also produced, wrote, and acted in several TV, web, and music videos. His career also included being an extra in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, a writer on Aqua Team Hunger Force, an extra in Metallica’s music video “The Memory Remains,” and writing, directing and producing The Death of “Superman Lives: What Happened?.”

    Schnepp’s partner Holly Payne released the following statement on Twitter:

    It is with a broken heart that the Schnepp family and I must announce the passing of our beloved Jon Schnepp, who died peacefully on July 19, 2018.

    Jon ultimately succumbed to the effects of a massive stroke. He had a blood clot removed from his left carotid artery, but the bleeding could not be stopped. Irreparable and catastrophic damage was caused to both hemispheres and all brain activity ceased. His sister Deborah and I had to make the difficult decision to take him off of life support. There was no possible way for him to recover. Please understand.

    I spent the last hour of his life with him holding him, laying my head across his massive chest, kissing him, stroking his hair, playing his favorite songs, and telling him over and over again how much I love him. My life has been forever changed by Jon. I feel endlessly grateful to have shared 16 years of laughter, love and incredible adventures together, including the making a feature film, as well as a television series that I hope to complete and release later this year in his honor.

    Jon’s mother Miriam, his father David, his sister Deborah and I are devastated beyond measure. We appreciate your love and support, and most importantly your understanding of our privacy at this time as we grieve.

  • Phish Announces 2018 Summer Tour Webcasts

    Phish just began their 2018 Summer Tour with a pair of shows at Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys in Stateline, Nevada. Unlike most tours, if you can’t get tickets it doesn’t mean you can’t see Phish perform because they are live webcasting parts of their tour.

    Phish is a jam band quartet from Vermont whose tours are widely anticipated by its large fan base. Not all of their performances will be live streamed but the ones that are can be viewed via LivePhish.com. The live webcast tour begins with the band’s upcoming run at The Gorge in George, Washington, July 20 – 22. The rest of the live cast performance dates can be found below.

  • Avenged Sevenfold Cancel Dates Due to Illness

    Longtime Central New York festival, K-Rockathon is back to a one-day affair after Avenged Sevenfold decided to cancel their upcoming Saturday date due to an ongoing illness within the band.

    Back in March, Central New York radio station K-Rock announced that the 22nd edition of the annual festival would expand to two days at the St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheater at Lakeview (formerly Lakeview Amphitheater) in Syracuse. The July 22 date of the festival was to feature Avenged Sevenfold as the headliner with support from Rise Against, Three Days Grace and Ho99o9. The Sunday, July 23 show is still happening and features Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie.

    A statement issued by Avenged Sevenfold said:

    Due to a continued illness, we unfortunately have to cancel our performances this week in Rimouski at Les Grandes Fetes TELUS and at Syracuse’s KROCKATHON. To our fans, we’re just as let down about this as you are and we look forward to seeing you next time.

    The band did not provide any information on the illness. In addition to the Syracuse show, shows in Quebec City, Saint John, New Brunswick and Rimouski, Quebec were also scrapped.

    Tickets for the festival were available as single-day or two-day passes. Those who purchased two-day passes will be receive a 50% refund while those who purchased Saturday only will receive a full refund. Live Nation stated that online purchases will be automatically refunded. Physical tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase.

    K-Rock issued the following via Facebook, “Listen, it SUPER bums us out & we completely understand that everyone will be upset (and have their own opinion to voice), but we can’t control sickness so, we’re here for questions & hope you still come party with us on Sunday for Rob Zombie & Marilyn Manson”
