  • The Original Stuck Mojo Lineup Reunites, New Album on the Way

Atlanta, Georgia rap metal pioneers Stuck Mojo, who recently played in their hometown back in December, announced last week they are working on new material. This marks the first time since 1998’s Rising that the original lineup of Rich Ward (guitar), Frank Fontsere (drums), Bonz (vocals), and Corey Lowery (bass) have worked together.

Ward, who has kept busy with Fozzy with Fontsere has stated:

“[Bonz is] doing great, he looks great, we’re getting along great, and so far, knock on wood, he seems like he’s dealt with all his demons and he’s sorted that part of his life out that [he needed to take care of in order] for me to move forward with him. So I’m feeling good about it. And I also have four other partners in FOZZY that, obviously, are wanting to tour and stuff, so I need to be mindful and respectful to everything — not only the guys in STUCK MOJO, but also to my FOZZY family — and make sure that if I’m working on STUCK MOJO, it’s because Chris (Jericho) is back in the WWE doing a little, short run, which he does from time to time. And that works out good for me. That way he’s working on something else, and I can do the same.”

On Saturday, Stuck Mojo announced their second reunion show at the Amos’ Southend in Charlotte, NC on Friday April 17.  No further shows announced as of yet.

  • Fans Petition for Creation of Late GWAR Frontman in Video Game ‘Mortal Kombat X’

10964876_854069874651996_1946906636_oLast year the metal community lost the great and charismatic musician Dave Brockie, better known as Oderus Urungus, the frontman of GWAR, to an accidental overdose in his home in Virginia. GWAR has battled on without their founding member, leaving blood and gore wherever they march. With that being said, who could be a better fit for a character for the next Mortal Kombat game?

Over the weekend, according to recent Bingo Tour reviews, fans created a petition for Netherrealm Studios, a branch of Warner Brothers Games, to create a downloadable character of Oderus Urungus as a playable character in the upcoming video game Mortal Kombat X.

It is most appropriate to have Oderus Urungus immortalized in the Mortal Kombat universe because of the gruesome and hilarious nature of GWAR. The band has always portrayed themselves as an “elite group of chaos warriors” who were banished to Earth for their “cosmic crimes.” After being reawakened by our planet’s pollution, they now dedicate themselves to the “destruction of the human race and the eradication of existence itself.” Netherrealm Studios should have no problem somehow tying in Oderus Urungus into the Mortal Kombat X storyline, along with his own special moves and (in)famous fatalities.

If you want to sign the petition, click this link.

You can view the latest gameplay trailer for Mortal Kombat X below. Mortal Kombat X is being released by Warner Brothers Games and developed by Netherrealm Studios and will be released April 14, 2015 on Playstation 4, Xbox One, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

  • The Chris Robinson Brotherhood Coming to Woodstock

The Chris Robinson Brotherhood will be taking the stage at Woodstock’s Bearsville Theater February 10. The band, Chris Robinson, Neal Casal, Adam Macdougall, Mark Dutton, and newest member Tony Leone, will be bringing their brand of psychedelic rock to hollowed stomping grounds. None of the members in The Chris Robinson Brotherhood are strangers to Woodstock as they have played at either Bearsville or at Levon’s Barn, which is right down the road, in other bands through the years.

    [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bcmo8CxpC3A]

They are touring in support of their latest release Phosphorescent Harvest, which came out last April. It is the band’s third studio album in under 4 years of being together. The constant output of music by CRB have kept them tight as a band and lets them feel at home on stage playing to crowds all over the country. Chris has a strong love for this band saying that this is his future in music and sees no signs of it winding down.

Tickets for the show are on sale now and cost $30 for standing room, $49 for balcony, and $59 for the first two rows of balcony. Tickets can be purchased here. The show is an evening with, which means it is going to be a long two set show with a great rock and roll band that will move in and out of psychedelia at will. This is their only Upstate appearance for the band before they play the rest of the East coast, go to Australia, and go back to the West coast so don’t miss this one.

  • SAMMY’S Announce Nominees, Inductees, and Lifetime Achievement Recipient, Jon Fishman for 2015

This morning at The Palace Theater in Syracuse, NY, the much anticipated Syracuse Area Music Award Nominees, Hall of Fame Inductees, Music Educator of the Year, and Lifetime Achievement Recipient were announced for 2015. With several new names, a few new categories, and many well deserving recipients being added to the list, the upcoming Hall of Fame Ceremony and Award Ceremonies and bound to sell out.

Jon Fishman – DRUM Magazine Cover September 2014

The most prestigious award, The Lifetime Achievement Award, will this year be given to Syracuse’s own, Jon Fishman. Jon is the drummer/vocalist and one of the founding members of the highly popular band Phish. Often credited as the namesake, after all he is often referred to as “Fish”, Jon has traveled the world for the past thirty plus years with band mates acquiring a cult like following of fans that are often compared to the Grateful Dead’s fans, and lovingly referred to as Phisheads or Phans.  This exceptional drummer began honing his skills here locally as a student at Jamesville-Dewitt High School, and Jon was recently featured on the cover of DRUM Magazine this past September.

Sammy's 2015His musical abilities reach past the drum kit however to a myriad of musical instruments, including the vacuum, yes, the vacuum, but what he’s most passionate about is his tireless efforts and dedicated humanitarian role he has with several organizations, but most specifically he plays a key role in helping to raise money and awareness for the Mimi Fishman Foundation, an organization founded by Jon’s late mother, Mimi Fishman. Mimi believed that through partnerships with bands such as Phish, money could be raised to help bring awareness and assistance to many needed charitable organizations, focusing on the needs of families and children, and specifically those that suffered from visual impairments.
