Schroon Lake Arts Council will present its 50th summer of Live music in the Boathouse Theater from July 3 to Aug 10.
This year’s theme is “Roots of Adirondack Music” featuring the bands and artists that make up the Adirondack style of folk. All of the concerts are free and volunteer run. The concerts also overlook Schroon Lake located in the eastern part of Adirondack State Park.
Boathouse Theater has been operating since 1874 and is just one of the attractions in the town of Schroon. People come to the area for fishing, hiking and to soak in views of Schroon lake.
The lineup of bands is full of folk, blues and genre bending performances. On July 3, Get Up Jack, an Irish folk band, will start off the series. They have performed at Boathouse theater for multiple years and are a fan favorite. Music isn’t the only thing that brings people to the theater. On July 13, The Puppet People will present their “Puppet Potpourri.” Additionally, on July 15, the arts council will show the PBS documentary, “Songs To Keep: Treasures Of An Adirondack Folk Collector,” about the Adirondack folk artist Marjorie Lansing Porter.

Saranac Lake-based band nubble is set to tour around the North Country this summer, bringing their Adirondack-themed folk music with them. Their imagery and subject matter are all distinct to the Adirondacks, featuring local references and atmospheric sound.
nubble was formed about a year ago by Gene Baritot (vocals, guitar, keyboard), Edek Falkowski (fiddle, banjo, vocals), Christian Eggleston (bass, vocals), and Chris Radey (drums, vocals). nubble’s tour will offer an excellent opportunity to support local musicians while enjoying their unique sound.
Their experiences living in the Adirondacks come through in their songwriting. nubble expressed the excitement about sharing their love if the region with others, saying “we have the chance to share our songs which have been entirely inspired by the beauty of the area that we live.”
One of the band’s tracks, “Ghosts,” is about the haunted cure cottage one band member lived in. The tuberculosis cottage in Saranac Lake was featured on Animal Planet’s “The Haunted,” while another track, “Buzz Away, Black Fly”, is about the bug of certain local renown.
nubble expressed their gratitude for the ability to “express [themselves] in [their] small mountain communities”. nubble’s goal is to “share what feels good”, and they hope the ADK feels the same way. Their album, Live at Riverside Park, is available on Bandcamp, and tour dates are available below.

This fall, guitar icon Yngwie Malmsteen will kick off his 40th Anniversary Tour, taking him nationwide, with four shows in New York.
His first trip brings him to Plattsburgh at the Strand Centre on October 4th, followed by Colony Woodstock in Woodstock on the 10th. Two days later, Malmsteen will visit Buffalo’s Electric City Music Hall, with the tour concluding on November 18 at New York Cityâs Gramercy Theater.
Originally from Sweden, Yngwie Malmsteen was born into a musical family full of opera singers and classical musicians. By the age of 10, he had formed his first rock band with his childhood friend. Eventually, he began experimenting with different genres, musical styles, and techniques. Growing up, he was inspired by the unique playing styles of classical composers like Niccolo Paganini and Antonio Vivaldi, as well as the bluesy ones of Deep Purple founder and guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. Throughout his teen years, he combined the two genres and founded what is known as Neo-Classical Hard Rock.
In 1982, Yngwie Malmsteen came to the United States to kickstart his career. He appeared on multiple albums and performed in the hard rock band Alcatrazz. In 1984, he earned a solo deal and released his debut solo album. Rising Force. Since then, he has recorded over 22 studio albums and earned himself a reputation as one of the greatest electric guitarists of all time.

The Carol Theater in Chestertown, NY is kicking off their summer season with a double feature show from, The Lazy Suns and The Bluebillies on June 22.
The Carol Theatre has been entertaining the small Adirondack town of Chestertown since 1931. It has been used as a movie theater in addition to live performances while supporting local businesses in the area.
New York State bands will perform the first show of the summer on The Carol’s historic stage. Americana band, The Lazy Suns formed in 2010 and have received two Capital District Eddie Award nominations for best Americana Country Rock group.The Lazy Sun’s 2016 original album, Bar Hotel Music, has a western, cowpoke feel, but also uses elements of easy listening 70’s rock.
Another country band, The Bluebillies, are genre blenders with their country-gospel album, Train To Paradise. The Bluebillies started in 1984 with husband and wife, Mark and Melody Guarino. Frank Orsini on fiddle and guitarist Greg Bucking complete the band, now performing all over New York State.
This summer, The Carol will also welcome a Beatles Tribute band, Across The Pond, on July 6 followed by High Peaks Bluegrass on July 20. Another tribute band, The Wheel: The Grateful Dead Experience, will perform on July 27.

Located right along the scenic Champlain Valley, sandwiched between New York and Vermont, lies the town of Crown Point, NY. The town is home to the recently renovated War Cannon Spirits, a bar and live music venue with a rich history and a unique, authentic architectural heritage.
The Tasting Room
Originally used as a lumber mill, the building has been standing for over 200 years and has had several owners. The building was erected in 1820 and conveniently located near Putnam Creek, where the previous dam, along with the ponds behind the building, served as the perfect location for the town’s mill. Several decades later, the mill would see multiple different owners, usually continuing its lumber production. The Crown Point Cooperative G.L.F. Service bought the building in 1933, producing lumber and wooden products.
In 1957, the service sold the building, and for the first time, it was not used as a mill. For the next 50 years, the mill became the Crown Point Agway, locally known as “The Old Agway Building.” In 2000, it operated as Porterâs Mill Hardware & Feed. Unfortunately, the location was abandoned after only 8 years.
After years of abandonment, War Cannon Spirits purchased the mill in 2016. Since then, they have renovated the building to capture its full potential as a bar, distillery, and restaurant, while restoring its former glory. Through constant use, harsh weather conditions, and neglect, two centuries of costly damage amounted to the building. The mill was in dire condition, but War Cannon Spirits was determined to maintain its integrity.
History, authenticity and creativity matter to us. Demolishing the mill would have been an injustice to the community.

This year, War Cannon Spirits have officially finished renovations on the abandoned mill. The last seven years were a slow, painstaking process for the company. Fixing damages from the last 200 years of neglect is no easy task. However, after all this time, a fully renovated mill and upper floor known as “The Loft” is ready to make its debut.
Since 2016, War Cannon Spirits has repurposed the 200-year-old mill into an elevated industrial rustic building oozing with character. Integrity was especially important to the company, which swore to preserve the history of the mill. The company and regional architect Nils Luderowski gave the mill a much-needed makeover. The recent renovations make the mill something the community can be proud of. There is no doubt that War Cannon Spirits will make the mill an iconic destination for Crown Point.
We sought an iconic venue to boldly represent War Cannon Spirits. We wanted something authentic, not a generic prefabricated building or pole barn.
War Cannon Spirits, “About Us”
As a distillery, War Cannon Spirits is a firm believer in promoting the spirits produced in the Lake Champlain region. Since the company began, they partnered with regarded chief distiller Joel Elder, due to his specific focus and experience on locally sourced agribusinesses. The distillery offers whiskey, beer, mead, liquor, and other alcoholic beverages resourced in the area. They are also distributors of other New York-based brands, spanning as far away as Long Island.
War Cannon Spirits is divided into two floors. The first floor, which managed to stay intact during most of the renovations, is the Tasting Room. The Tasting Room offers selections of these products, including a bar with its own signature cocktails and a coffeehouse. Next to the bar is a restaurant and dining area with an elevated pub fare-type menu and one-off high-end dining experiences.

The most recent and notable addition to War Cannon Spirits is The Loft. Located on the second floor, The Loft offers a large stage perfect for concerts and live performances. This year marks the beginning of War Cannon Spirits hosting concerts, starting with a live performance from “A Man Named Cash” featuring Eric Hofmanis, a tribute to Johnny Cash and June Carter on June 15.
After seven long years, War Cannon Spirits is ready to showcase the best of what Crown Point has to offer. The highly anticipated opening of the distillery’s Loft is expected to officially put War Cannon spirits on the map. But from what they have been able to accomplish so far, it’s clear that this is only the beginning for the brand.

The Village of Saranac Lake has announced the artist lineup for the 2024 Music on the Green Summer concert series. The concert series will showcase a vast array of genres, including funk, folk, indie, and bluegrass. This year’s run will begin on July 3rd, and continue weekly until August 14th, with weekly concerts Wednesday 7-9pm.
Music on the Green is an annual tradition for Saranac Lake, bringing the community together to enjoy artists. The village’s mission is to provide its residents with live music that is accessible, both in location and price. Due to this, admission to all Music on the Green concerts is free.
Music on the Green began in 2013, and has since attracted over 68 performing artists to Saranac Lake. In the past, concert-goers have enjoyed performances ranging from alternative rock to swing to folk. The variety in this year’s lineup continues in this tradition of diversity.
The 2024 season kicks off on July 3rd with a concert from local folk band Nubble. The band’s style mixes alternative with folk. As the band says about their music “Sometimes we get a little sad, but mostly we stay pretty happy.” With this emotional range, it is sure to be a captivating show to start the season.
Frankie and the Moonlighters will perform on July 10th. The Saranac Lake-based band specializes in covers of well-known 1950s and 60s hits. Their smooth covers feature vocal harmonies, and rhythms that are sure to get audiences dancing.
Double Axel has captivated audiences for 50 years. This classic North Country band will perform at the July 17th concert. The group will take audiences back in time with decades worth of classic rock.
July 24th will feature a concert by Massachusetts’ Dis-N-Dat Band. The band’s sound is a fusion of Caribbean sounds, incorporating reggae, dancehall, and R&B. The band has toured the US for over 20 years, with its singer Sista Dee also being resident singer of Holland America cruises.
Waiting on Mongo will perform on July 31st with their signature funk stylings. Starting from their home of Asbury Park, NJ, the band has lit up concert venues across the country with their powerful psychedelic funk. With danceable guitar riffs, funky horns, and driving organs, each performance by the band is a groovy journey.
5 Pound Horse
5 Pound Horse will kick off the August portion of the season with a concert on August 7th. The Berkshires-based ensemble has traveled the world absorbing influences into their sound. The band began by playing roots rock, with steel guitar, fiddle, and driving rhythms. Since their travels, the group has incorporated aspects of African music, pop, and jazz, making each one of their performances extremely captivating.
An August 14th set by the Beat Authority will close out Summer Season. The Beat Authority has been a staple of North Country Public Radio since its inception. Led by DJ David Sommerstein, the program broadcasts dance music from around the world, ranging from Cumbia to Afrobeat. This set is sure to get audiences dancing to beats from around the globe.

Tupper Lake, the nature-filled crossroads of the Adirondacks, has announced the lineup for its annual Summer Performance Series. The free and open-to-the-public series will begin on July 5 and feature shows for a variety of ages on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The gorgeous small town of Tupper Lake is situated right alongside the scenic Raquette Pond, with an intimate population of roughly 3,000. Despite this, Tupper Lake has always had a thriving community of artists and artisans.
This summer, Tupper Lake’s annual Summer Performance Series is returning with an all-new lineup of local and visiting performers. Bands and artists of all genres will be playing, so there’s bound to be a show suited to anyone. Some of the performing artists include Ursa and the Major Key, an indie psychedelic rock band, Martin & Kelly, a contemporary country duo and Blessid Dirt, a heavy-folk duo.
After a grand opening that will take place on July 4, all shows will be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Shows on Mondays and Wednesdays will be live music in a variety of genres, with shows on Fridays focusing more on children’s entertainment, hence the 11:00 a.m. times. All performances will take place on the Tupper Lake Sunset Stage at Flanders Park, right next to the water, so bring some chairs and a blanket!
And while you’re in Tupper Lake, take some time to explore the biking and hiking trails, stroll through the scenic town, and enjoy some of the delicious local eateries.

On3 is a three-piece band comprised of Tupper Lakers, Jim Boucher (vocals and mandolin) Josh Pratt (percussion), and Eric Pasternak (vocals and guitar) of Bloomingdale. On3 mixes strong vocal harmonies with traditional songs, originals, classic rock, and instrumentals to create a unique live experience. At times quiet, and at other times rockin’.
The dynamics that they present span generations of music and draw from a wide variety of influences, including artists such as Tom Petty, Cheap Trick, and John Mayer, as well as 100-year-old traditional music. And sometimes, nothing is off-limits!

Alright class, settle down…Night School is a five-piece dance-rock band from Tupper Lake, NY consisting of brothers Andrew and Ben McClelland, alongside Jay Martin, Micah Tyo, and Ryan Gillis and back-up vocalists Lauren Mather and Corrine Mather. Performing some of the most popular dance hits from yesteryear and today, everything from The Beatles to Talking Heads, from Rick James to The B-52’s. Night School is guaranteed to get you moving and grooving. Class is in session.

For over 20 years, the Dave Matthews Tribute Band has been performing sold out shows around the world; playing over 2,000 concerts in 46 states and 9 countries. Throughout the years, the band has evolved from a bar hopping cover band into a dedicated and true tribute band with one goal; to recreate the classic Dave Matthews Band sound so many of us know and love.
July 29 – Shakespeare in the Park – 7:00 PM
One of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedies, Hamlet explores themes of revenge, madness, mortality, and the moral complexities of action and inaction. As the Prince of Denmark, Hamlet’s life is thrown into chaos following the sudden death of his father. When the ghost of his father appears to reveal a shocking truth, Hamlet is set on a path of revenge! This timless story resonates with audiences for its exploration of ambition and the human condition.
There will be two Tupper Lake performers in this production: Annachristi Cordes in the title role of Hamlet and George Cordes as the Ghost of Hamlet’s father.

Frankie & The Moonlighters are a nostalgia band, formed in 2022. They perform hits from the 50s and early 60s with period correct wardrobe and stage set. The band is made up of members from all walks of life who work regular jobs, in addition to performing. Hence, The Moonlighters. The band is comprised of Frankie Wayne as lead vocalist, The Moonlighters, Donna Fortune – lead and backing vocals, Jessica Kemp – Lead and backing vocals, Melissa Nugent – Lead and backing vocals, with Mike “Mad Dog” Harrigan on guitar, Kevin KMAN McLaughlin on drums, Sue “Suzie-Q” Grimm on Keyboards, and Barb “Boom-boom” Curtis on upright bass.

Gratefully Yours has emerged as one of the premier Grateful Dead cover bands in the Northeast. Based out of the Hudson Valley in NY, the band is comprised of an all-star lineup of long time jam band musicians from the area. Their willingness and ability to improvise, and their openness to spontaneity and the energy of the moment lie at the core of their performances and truly sets them apart. It is about creating that Grateful Dead “magic” that Gratefully Yours truly aims to “cover” and pay tribute to. Wednesday Summer Series Lineup
July 10 – Blessid Dirt – 7:00 PM
Tereson Dupuy and Eric Pasternak make up this beautiful, Adirondack grown acoustic duo called Blessid Dirt. Both singer-songwriters, their original music is ripe with life experiences most can relate to.
Classified as heavy-folk, they have been influenced by greats such as John Prine, Mary Gauthier, Townes Van Zandt and Led Zeppelin alike. Eric, a native New Yorker, dazzles listeners with some wicked good pickin’ with a brilliant lyrical balance. He brings a dry humor and real life edge to this duo’s setlist. While Tereson, a transplant from New Orleans, adds a bit of soulful Southern charm, making this duo something to be experienced.
Blessid Dirt just released their debut album, appropriately titled “Blessid Dirt.” It is a good sampling of their range of songwriting that is still being explored as they grow as artists.
July 17 – Gadget – 7:00 PM
“Gadget” band plays soul, funk and jazz to bring you to your feet! They came together to celebrate the original funk, soul and jazz of the late 60s and early 70s along with more modern interpretations of the genre. It features original music by Crispin Catricala and select covers from John Scofield, Medeski, Martin and Wood along with New Orleans funk based band “The Meters” among others. The band features veteran performers Crispin on guitar, Michael Hurt on bass, Butch Gage on drums and Dave Casner on keys.
July 24 – Darkside Skinny Dippers – 7:00 PM
Since the beginning of time ‘twas written in the stones, that one day a band would come. Well, that band did come and they’re ready to come again. Formed in the late 60’s as an art collective, Darkside Skinny Dippers, often known more affectionately as the world’s greatest hashtag #DSKINNYD, evolved into a ferocious rock band that defined the course of music history in the late 70’s into the mid 80’s. Since reuniting over Zoom in 2020 this group of youngish men have been working tirelessly 1-2 times a year, perfecting their craft and completing the Richard Simmons 5-minute ab workout in its entirety. They feel confident they can bring you a show that at least half of 20% of you can tolerate. Recommended by 0 out of 10 doctors, the band all but guarantees a baby boom that would rival the mid 40’s-mid 60’s. In short, #DSKINNYD is best described as diverse rock and roll with attitude! There’s a little something for everyone. But don’t take their word for it…
July 31 – Spring Street – 7:00 PM
For 15 years, Spring Street has been rocking the tri-lakes with a unique mix of old and new rock. One of the hottest bands in the Adirondacks, Spring Street serves up Val’s incredible vocals over an instrumental section that gets you moving at every show. Whether they’re cranking out an old rock classic or a new hit song, Spring Street delivers night after night.
August 7 – DiTrani Brothers – 7:00 PM
The DiTrani Brothers, by way of bent melodies and driving rhythms, play perilous tunes for the hopeful influenced by elements of Balkan music and early American jazz/swing. The band delivers both wistful and raucous performances that allude to past traditions with a contemporary sentiment.
August 14 – Adirondack Jazz Ensemble – 7:00 PM
The AJE is a small jazz ensemble made from select members of the Adirondack Jazz Orchestra. Each performance, a different group of AJO members is featured to fit a customized selection of jazz standards, funk, blues, R&B, or whatever type of music we choose to play! The AJRE is promoting music education in upstate New York.
August 21 – Martin & Kelly – 7:00 PM
The incredibly talented duo of Jilly Martin and Ryan Brooks Kelly have become the next must-see act from New England to Nashville. With compelling song-writing, dynamic vocal harmonies, and good ole’ country pickin’ Jilly & Ryan bridge the boundary between traditional and new country. Most recently they warmed up audiences for artists such as Willie Nelson, The Oak Ridge Boys, Little Big Town, Alabama, Dwight Yoakam, Rodney Atkins, Phil Vassar, Lonestar, Chris Janson, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Sara Evans, the Bacon Brothers, and many more.

July 12 – Two of a Kind – 11:00 AM
We are an award-winning husband & wife musical duo, specializing in interactive performances for children and families. We get audiences of all ages involved in the performance, through singing, movement, sing language, lyrics-on-the-spot, puppets and more. We feature a wide variety of musical styles, with vocal harmonies, intricate guitar work and multi-ethnic drumming and percussion. Many thematic programs are available, including songs about reading & books, environmental science & animals, and interpersonal topics such as diversity, conflict resolution, character education and making a difference. We also do lots of songs that are just plain fun and silly.
July 19 – Kit’s Interactive Theater – 11:00 AM
This interactive show depicts the arduous life of early America as well as the revelry. Though days of rest and merriment are few, today is the day of the Colonial Faire. Help indentured servant Katie Cotswold finish her chores so all may skip off to the faire. Partake in the games and frolics where merriment abounds just before the rollicking Maypole dance!
Performance combines history, dance, music, imagination, and improvisation with a great mixture of humor. Kids and adults are cast right into the show.
Developing her original style of interactive theatre since 1987, Kitty writes, choreographs, produces, and performs all of her material for Kit’s Interactive Theatre. Her passion for history and love of theatre have inspired her to create 16 different, high-energy programs ranging from Ancient Egypt to Women’s Rights. With so much creativity, spontaneity and wit packed into each show, adults have as much fun as the kids! Great for ages 5 through adult.
July 26 – The Puppet People – 11:00 AM
Are all princesses helpless? Are all knights brave and strong? Are all dragons evil? Find out in this whimsical retelling of the fairy tale by E. Nesbitt. Explore the issues of stereotypes, discrimination, self-esteem, greed, and friendship with this vivid puppet production. This show features classical music, large rod puppets, mouth puppets, a 7 ft dragon and a life-size knight on horseback for a jousting scene your audience will never forget!
August 2 – Meadow Perry – 11:00 AM
Meadow Perry is a Magician, Bubble Artist and Actress who creates breathtakingly beautiful magic out of thin air. Discover true wonder as this sorceress of soap bubbles takes the rules of bubbles outside the box and takes you on an elegant journey exploring the soapy secrets that bubbles hold. Her internationally acclaimed show, “Bubble Magic” combines skillful bubble artistry, magic, music and theatre to create a unique experience for her audience. Meadow Perry has appeared on The CW’s Masters of Illusion as well as at The World Famous Hollywood Magic Castle in the prestigious Palace of Mystery.
August 9 – Jessica Black – 11:00 AM
Jessica is a multi talented artist based in the Catskills area of NY, bringing elegance and passion whether she’s on the ground or in the air. She has performed around the world as a professional dancer showcasing her classical ballet, jazz, contemporary, and showgirl techniques in dance. She has worked on 3 cruise ships, one contract specializing in musical theater in the Broadway show CATS.
Jessica is currently freelancing with 20+ entertainment companies performing for circus’s, private events, festivals, weddings, birthdays, fairs, parades, etc.
In the circus realm, Jessica specializes in aerial hoop, silks, sling, aerial bartending, and stilt walking.

Schroon Lake’s Seagle Festival has announced its performance lineup for its 109th annual season. Beginning June 16th, the concert season features a host of opera and theater performances. With performances ranging from classic Italian opera to Broadway classics to a special Juneteenth concert, there is a performance for everyone.
The Oscar Seagle Memorial Theater
Seagle Festival has been the Adirondacks’ premiere organization for opera and musical theater for over a century. Singer/teacher Oscar Seagle founded the festival in 1915 as a family run operation. In 1920, Seagle purchased the property that now houses the festival, with it quickly becoming a hub for enterprising young musicians. Throughout the past century, it evolved into a non-profit run by leading vocal trainers and theater performers. Today, the organization focuses on cultivating the talent of aspiring performers, and producing high quality theater performances.
The Summer season begins June 16th at 2:00pm with a special Juneteenth Concert. This performance includes a curated collection of works by eight African American composers, sung by emerging vocalists. Old Friends & New follows this performance, officially kicking off the season. This performance will introduce all 31 emerging performers in both solo and ensemble pieces. Additionally, there will be a post-concert reception where audience members can meet and greet performers.
Mainstage performances will begin on July 3rd, with a performance of the Broadway hit Brigadoon. This hit show features classic songs like “The Heather on the Hill,” “Waitin’ for my Dearie,” and “Almost Like Being in Love.” There will be performances on July 3rd, 5th, and 6th at 7:30pm, with a special matinee July 5th at 2:00pm.
The Seagle Festival’s 2023 production of Romeo and Juliet
July 17th, 18th, and 20th will feature a performance of the classic Mozart opera Don Giovanni. The opera that follows the Casanova-like Don Giovanni in a story that mixes comedy, drama, and beautiful vocals. The performance will be in its original Italian, with English supertitles. On top of the three evening performances, there will also be a matinee performance July 19th at 2:00pm.
The third mainstage performance is Dragon’s Breath based on the novel by Charles Frazier. The play’s story tells the tale of a Confederate deserter returning home, in a narrative that mirrors Homer’s Odyssey. This performance is part of the organization’s goal to promote contemporary American opera, and marks the first female-composed opera produced by the festival.
The final mainstage production of the season is the Sondheim classic Sweeney Todd. With a story that has captivated audiences since 1979, this musical provides a great forum for the festival’s performers to demonstrate their talent. With complex characters, and challenging vocal performances, Sweeney Todd is sure to be an eventful send-off for the mainstage season.
The Seagle Festival’s 2023 children’s opera The Ugly Duckling
In addition to mainstage performances, there will be two additional children-focused events during the season. On July 6th, the festival will present a children’s opera titled Dragon’s Breath. This opera focuses on a boy named Alan who learns to deal with his anger, personified as a dragon. Following this performance, the Seagle Festival will tour the show throughout the North Country’s elementary schools. The Musical World of Disney will close out the concert season with a September 7th performance. The show will celebrate Disney’s centennial with a revue of classics dating back to the 1920s.

On June 21, fans can join Dopapod and Raisinhead at the Waterhole Music Lounge in Saranac Lake, NY, as they kick off their Summer 2024 tour.
Formed in 2008 at the Berklee College of Music, Dopapod contains four members: Eli Winderman (keys, vocals), Rob Compa (guitar, vocals), Chuck Jones (bass), and Neal âFroâ Evans (drums). Originally, the band was only made up of two members: Winderman and fellow Berklee student Michaelangelo Carubba, who played drums. The duo performed in several venues around Boston for a year, before adding Rob Compa on guitar. For the next two years, Dopapod performed as a trio. In 2010, Neal Evans became the official drummer after Carubba’s departure.
Since then, Dopapod has provided an otherworldly live experience to each of their shows. The group draws inspiration from multiple genres, including funk, rock, bluegrass, jazz, and electronica. This combination of these genres has provided Dopapod with the ability to fully engross their audience in their storytelling. Their last self-titled album, released in 2022, is no exception. Stories about traversing time travel, palindromic labyrinths, and a greater cohesive mystery bind the band’s discography into one psychedelic and entertaining experience.
In regards to the buzz for their latest tour, Winderman is on the record saying, âWeâre a live band. The songs are the vehicle for us to just express ourselves with the improv. Thatâs the main focus: to be in the present moment with each other, listening to each other, and creating on the spot. We love being on the tightrope and taking risks.”
Joining Dopapod on their tour is special guest Raisinhead. Since 2001, Raisinhead has committed to sticking to the roots of music through improvisation. The band consists of lead singer and guitarist Rob Beaulieu, Ted Grey (Guitar, Vocals), Brian Mangini (Keyboards), Tom Pirozzi (Bass, Vocals), and Jeff Prescott, Chadd Ploss, Scott Apicelli (drums). As a three-singer band, Raisinhead provides fans with an interactive evening of sound, energy, and pure fun.

Albany
May 31, 5:00 PM: Start Pride on the right foot with the Waterworks Pub’s Pride Kick-Off block party and BBQ. Admission is free!
June 1, 9:00 PM: Pay homage to queer art with ICONS: A Pride Variety Show and Party at Lark Hall. The celebration begins with a pre-show party from 9-11, where there will be giveaways and teaser performances. The main show, ICONS- The Variety Show, will feature drag queens Brita Filter, Lagoona Bloo, Amanda Blair, and many more. The fun does not stop after the show. An after party with DJ Synes will begin at midnight and continue until 2 AM. Tickets are available here.
June 9, 11:30 AM: Capital Pride Parade & Festival will take place in Washington Park. Registration can be found at the following link, and proceeds go to the Pride Center of the Capital Region’s programming advocating for the LGBTQ+ community.
Troy
June 15, 2:00-6:00 PM: Join Collar City Pride for their picnic in Troy’s Prospect Park. The barbecue will feature vegan and non-vegan options, snacks, and beverages. There is a suggested donation on a sliding scale, and everyone is invited to bring lawn games, speakers, and frisbees.
July 14: The pride celebration continues into July, with performances by Typhoid Mary and DJ Lovely Candela. More queer artists and drag performers are to be announced. Good Karma Studios will also be performing an acrobatic act. There will be a family section with balloon animals and a drag story hour. There will also be over 40 vendors, most of whom are from Rensselaer County and LGBTQ+ owned and operated. Schenectady
June 1, 10:00 AM: The Dynasty will introduce their first ever wrestling event for this year’s pride celebration. “Sounds Gay, I’m In” will be held at Gateway Park. The festival will begin at 10:00 AM, and the wrestling will begin at 6:00 PM. All ages are welcome, and more information is available at the following link.
Saratoga Springs
May 30, 2:45: Join the Ballston Spa High School in the raising of the pride flag.
June 27, 6:00 PM: LGBTQ parents and children are invited to Saratoga Arts’ “POP” Gathering (parents of pride). The event will feature arts, crafts, and community building activities for the whole family. More information can be found here. Saratoga Arts hosts the event monthly, so dates will be available all year!
July 11, 6:30 PM: Join Saratoga Pride members for their Cornhole League. The informal, weekly drop-in league costs $15 a ticket, which offers guests a 20% discount on all food and drinks. Tournaments will be held at Saratoga Winery, and guests are encouraged to support the local restaurant. There will be more sessions every Thursday throughout the summer, with the tournament finals on August 29.
June 23, 2:00 PM: Saratoga’s Pride festival will return to High Rock Park this year, with an after party to follow. The family friendly event will feature live music, family activities, and community groups. Food and ice cream will also be available for purchase on site.
Lake George
Lake George Pride Festival, ages 16+ (under 16 admitted with parent/guardian only), featuring DJs from the community representing, vendor village, disc golf, frisbee golf, lawn games, walking trails, photo areas, cash bar and more! $20 to enter, brought to you in partnership by Warren County and The Lake George Area and powered by Rocavaka and Goldstein Auto Group.
Binghamton
June 20, 6:00 PM: Binghamton Pride Coalition will host a clothing swap from June 3-10. Participants are asked to donate gently used, clean clothes and accessories at Butterfields. On June 20, the clothes will be organized and displayed for people to choose. There is a suggested donation of $10, which will be donated to Identity LGBTQ+ Youth Center in Binghamton. June 8, 12:00 PM: Pride Palooza will return this year to Otsiningo Park. Guests are invited to bring their own picnic blankets and lunches to enjoy live music and entertainment. June 21, 5:00 PM: Join Southern Tier Aids Program (STAP) in celebrating their 40 year anniversary. STAP will hold a gala at the Binghamton DoubleTree, and admission costs $50. Tickets are available at the following link. STAP will honor the dedication of Drew and Gertrude Noden, whose support of their AIDS Ride for Life fundraiser has been instrumental. STAP also thanks JPMorgan & Chase for their generosity and allyship. A cash bar will be available, and there are menu options for vegetarian and vegan guests.
Otsego County
June 1, 2:00 PM: Otsego Pride Alliance will host their annual Pridefest. The festival will be held on Main Street in Oneonta. Parade line up begins at 1:00 PM, and the route will begin at 27 Market St to Elm St. Guests are asked to bring a chair, water, cash to tip performers and flags. June 13, 7:00 PM: Otsego Pride Alliance will host a Baseball Pride Night at Damaschke Field. Admission is $5, with discounts available to seniors and students.

May 30, 6:00-10:00 PM: Dutchess County Pride Center is throwing Poughkeepsie’s Kick off Party for pride month. The Factory at Sloop Brewing will host the party, with appetizers and drinks available. There will be special programing to commemorate the 100 year mark of the modern pride movement, and guests will be offered a sneak peek of the Annual Pride Auction items before they’re released to the public. June 7, 4:00 PM: Join Southern Finger Lakes Pride for their “Twas the Night Before Pride” event. Manhattan
June 28, 7:30 PM: City Winery at Pier 57 will host a documentary concert exploring the history of the Stonewall Uprising. Proceeds from ticket sales go to The Stonewall Community Foundation, which works towards liberation for all LGBTQ+ people. June 29, 12:00 PM: The South Street Seaport will host a Youth Pride event, celebrating LGBTQ+ teens and youth. July 1-July 7: Commemorate the Fire Island Invasion of 1976 by recreating the event with the New York LGBT community. A longtime landmark in LGBTQ+ history, Fire Island has served as a safe haven for members of the community to express themselves freely. In 1976, after a restaurant in Fire Island Pines denied entry to a visitor in drag, the visitor and their friends stormed into the Pines dressed in drag.
