The town of Black Brook, NY is in the midst of its weekly summer concert series, Music at the River Park, spanning from July 17 to Aug 21. The concerts take place in Au Sable Forks‘ River Park every Wednesday evening.
The Northern NY concert series, Music at the River Park, is the musical collaboration of the towns of Black Brook and Au Sable Forks. Every Wednesday night from July 17 to Aug. 21 from 6-8 PM, locals can head down to River Park for free live entertainment. Concertgoers can also treat themselves to the town’s renowned food truck, The Dogfather, onsite.
The weekly acts, presented by Black Brook are full of local musicians ranging from country artists to acoustic singer-songwriters. Thus far, July’s acts have included exciting homegrown acts such as Larry Ebere, Tally & Pop, and Bluebird. The music, queued to the picturesque views of the Au Sable River makes an electric combination proved to be loved by the community weekly.
In the upcoming weeks, music lovers can enjoy sets from Midnight Stargazers, Larry Ebere once again, and finally, Sarah Mitchell. Filled with western tunes and harmonic melodies, August at River Park is sure to be plentiful of amazing music and talented artists.
The North Country Hardship Fund’s 17th Wayne Stock Festival will take place in North Creek, NY on Friday, Aug. 2, and Saturday, Aug. 3. The NCHF is a non-profit organization that fundraises through the festival to provide resources for those who have suffered recent tragedies.
Kicking off on Aug. 2, Wayne Stock XVII will be full of live music, food, auctions, and raffles, among many other festivities until 11 PM. The next day, Aug. 3 will provide an additional eleven hours of fun, starting at 12 PM. The free event will take place in North Creek‘s Ski Bowl Park, allowing attendees to enjoy a relaxing, yet fun and social outdoor environment, rain or shine.
Local bands will serve as entertainment throughout the two festival days, presenting various types of music and backgrounds to add to an exciting and unique experience. Guests are encouraged to bring their own drinks and food will also be available at the festival. Though the event is free, NCHF will offer plenty of ways to donate money through raffles, as well as auctions for the chance to win amazing prizes. Specifically, prizes at this year’s Wayne Stock Festival include a UTV, a dual-fuel generator, and $250 cash.
NCHF asks that attendees leave pets at home and don’t bring glass products to ensure general safety. Wayne Stock’s purpose is to bring the community together for a good time while contributing to very important causes. With the help of many local sponsors, NCHF, as well as the North Country community are able to raise funds to supply sources to families in need.
Wayne “Wayno” Bukovinsky created Wayne Stock in 2008 to raise money for a recent accident he had been in. Using proceeds from the festival he and his wife Tammy, started the North Country Hardship Fund. The non-profit continues raising money for those without the resources to recover financially from personal tragedies. Since Wayno’s death in 2023, Tammy and the NCHF community have continued his mission of helping others through his festival.
North Creek’s Tannery Pond Center (TPC) is hosting the Indigenous Gifts Festival. The festival began on July 16th, and will continue until September 14th. Each week, TPC will highlight works from indigenous artists of the Adirondacks, including music, dance, film, and more.
For centuries, the Adirondacks have been home to the Haudenosaunee, or “People of the Longhouse.” This confederation includes the Mohawk, Cayuga, Seneca, Oneida, Onondaga, and Tuscarora peoples of New York. Prior to European arrival, the Haudenosaunee were one of the premier political and cultural forces of the region, with their form of representative government going on to influence America’s founding fathers.
Haudenosaunee culture – then and now – has a deep connection to the natural environment of the Adirondacks, with their art reflecting this. Tannery Pond Center’s Indigenous Gifts: Tradition, Today and Tomorrow Festival celebrates these artistic works, and the culture of the 81,000 members of the Haudenosaunee nation in the US.
Since its start, the Tannery Pond Center has been dedicated to bringing diverse arts programming to the North Country. Operating out of the Johnsburg Community Center, TPC has presented countless art exhibitions, musical performances, and arts workshops for local children. At the center of TCP’s mission is a deep respect for the community, with the center striving to provide the highest quality programming, all while fostering the creativity of those who visit.
As part of its dedication to community involvement, TPC is hosting the Indigenous Gifts Festival until September 14th. For this festival, TPC has closely collaborated with local Haudenosaunee artists to highlight their vibrant arts and culture, as well as further educate the public on their history. This two month-long festival will feature 14 special events highlighting different aspects of Haudenosaunee arts and history. Included among the events are art exhibitions, musical performance, and crafts workshops.
For the entirety of the Festival, TPC’s Widlund Gallery will feature an exhibition of local indigenous art. Local artist David Fadden curated the exhibition, using art to break down stereotypes and foster accurate understandings of Haudenosaunee culture. Fadden grew up in Onchiota, NY with close ties to Haudenosaunee and Mohawk culture.
Of special note are the festival’s many musical performances. On July 25, the Akwesasne Women Singers will perform from 7:30-9:30pm. The group will perform Onhwentsiakehkha music, traditionally sung at longhouse social dances. Each year, new lyrics to these songs are penned, ensuring that the language will thrive. The Akwesasne Women Singers have performed together since 1996, mixing song and dance into their performances. Before each dance, the singers explain its cultural significance and invite audience members to join in.
August 11th will feature a performance from the Allegany River Indian Dancers. Since their start in 1979, the group has become one of the premier indigenous dance groups in the US and Canada. Their performances include a number of “pow wow” dances, including the hoop dance. This performance involves 30 hoops used to form nature-inspired designs. Since their start, the troupe has taught countless people about Seneca culture through audience participation and lectures. This performance will take place from 3-5pm.
The final musical event is a Social Dance with the Travel Troupe from the Native North American Traveling College. The event will begin at 3:00pm with a youth-only dance at the Outdoor Stage Riverside Park. This event will educate children of all ages on the importance of indigenous dance. A 7:30pm event at Tannery Pond Center will follow. This is an all-ages event, inviting families to learn about the significance of indigenous social dance. During the 90 minute program, audience members will be able to participate in dances, while learning how these events involve all members of the community. These social dance events will both take place on August 22nd.
In addition to these music and dance events there are a slew of other cultural activities to be enjoyed. Among these are workshops on traditional wampum bead bracelets and moccasins, film screenings, and academic lectures.

Alexandria Bay’s Riverboat Bar is one of the premier spots for live music in Jefferson County. Throughout the Summer, the bar hosts a number of concerts each week, bringing audiences performances of indie, Americana, and more.
Summer 2024 sees 13 artists from New York State and beyond performing at the Riverboat Bar, bringing audiences plenty of variety.
Friday, July 19th will feature two sets by Utica’s The Old Main. Led by songwriter Seth Becker, the indie-folk quartet has toured across New York for over a decade. The band combines influences of John Prine and Wilco with stripped down instrumentation to create intimate Americana. Their set will begin at 10pm, with attendance being free.
Continuing with folk music, July 20th will feature a free show by CNY group The Rollin’ Rust. Singer-songwriter James VanDeuson leads the group, bringing an edge to traditional Americana. Their evocative songwriting and polished instrumentation has taken them around the country, performing across 45 cities in 2023 alone. Their debut Road Rats was nominated for Best Americana Album at the 2023 SAMMY Awards. They will play two sets beginning at 10pm.
On July 26th, the Riverboat Bar will host Syracuse’s Vaporeyes. Vaporeyes plays progressive rock heavily influenced by classic psychedelia. With lush keyboard textures, guitar, and rhythms, the band crafts dreamy musical soundscapes. Vaporeyes will play two free sets, beginning at 10pm.
August 2nd will feature a “Local Legendz Showcase,” featuring performances by a host of local musical artists. Holdown Upstate organized this event as part of their mission to increase community involvement in music throughout Upstate New York. This event represents a live version of Holdown Upstate’s “Local Legendz ” radio program highlighting up-and-coming artists from across New York. This free show will begin at 10pm.
On August 3rd, Joey Collins and the Creatives will perform at the Riverboat Bar. The trio originates from Watertown, but has played at shows and festivals across the state. Their sound incorporates influences of soul and folk into Indie rock. As part of their return to the Riverboat Bar, Joey Collins and the Creatives will play two free sets, beginning at 10pm.
August 9th will feature two sets by Syracuse’s Mike Powell and the Echosound. The band began during the Covid-19 lockdown, as Powell decided to go back to his roots while listening to his record collection. As soon as touring was possible, Powell enlisted musicians from Suracuse’s blues and folk scenes to start the Echosound. All five members collaborate to write lyrics and music for their Americana and rock influenced songs. This show comes after the release of their debut Plastic Spoon Honeymoon in 2023. The show will begin at 10pm, with a $5 cover at the door.
On August 10th, Albany’s Hilltop will perform two sets at the Riverboat Bar. The four-piece band began jamming at Mercy College in 2018. The quartet has 100 shows under their belt, blasting out funk-influenced rock numbers for their audiences. Their show will take place during Alexandria Bay’s Pirate Days festival, featuring events and exhibitions across town. Hilltop’s two sets will begin at 10pm, with a $5 cover charge at the door.
Connecticut-based funk band One Time Weekend will perform two nights of shows on August 16-17th. Across their two studio albums, One Time Weekend have made a name for themselves as a premier modern funk band. Their sound combines groovy pop melodies with progressive instrumentation. Their live shows bring an unmatched energy, with face-melting riffs and smooth vocals. One Time Weekend will play two sets each night, beginning at 10pm. Guests can buy tickets for $10 at the door each night, or a weekend pass for $15.
August 23rd will feature a free concert by Felix Free & the Rxcketeers. Born in Southern California, Felix Free moved to rural Upstate New York, where he honed his craft as a rapper. Free’s intimate lyricism and stage presence can conquer crowds both large and small. With the live band the Rxcketeers behind him, Free will bring his trademark Golden era hip hop stylings to the Riverboat Bar. This free show will begin at 10pm.
On August 24th, Connecticut’s Legalized will play two sets with DJ Nick Balkun. Legalized’s music defies genre, combining everything from funk and jazz to punk and psychedelic. With rock instrumentals and saxophone, their music is noisy and experimental yet infectiously groovy. Connecticut’s DJ Nick Balkun will join Legalized, playing a DJ/drum set. This free show will feature two sets starting at 10pm.
Double Barrel Blues Band will return to the Riverboat Bar for a weekend residency from August 30-September 1st. The Syracuse quartet plays all types of blues, including more traditional acoustic, and modern amplified styles. With the guitar chops of Mark Cloutier and John Hart, the group are regular nominees at the SAMMY awards blues category. Their residency will feature special guests making for a weekend-long blues-stravaganza. Each residency show is free, beginning at 8pm each night.
Organ Fairchild will kick off September at the Riverboat Bar with two free sets on September 6th. Beginning as a Buffalo-based Grateful Dead cover band in 1983, Organ Fairchild’s members honed their live music abilities in extended jams. In 2020, they rebranded themselves as an instrumental trio, featuring guitar, drums, and organs. The trio’s brand of instrumental funk has brought national renown, playing shows across the East Coast with legends of the jam band genre. Their sets will begin at 10pm.
September 7th will feature two free sets by Buffalo-based rock group Johnny Hart & the Mess. The band’s sound can loosely be defined as “alternative,” but combines influences of pop, blues, country, and more. With releases like Moonlite Motel and Neon Eyes the band has established itself as an up-and-comer in New York’s rock scene. Their sets will begin at 10pm.
Shapes will close out the Riverboat Bar’s summer season with a September 13th performance. Hailing from Toronto, the band’s music combines rock with influences of funk and afrobeat. The band never takes itself too seriously, including witty lyrics and humorous stage banter into their shows. With their groovy instrumentation and funny stage presence, Shapes is sure to keep audiences dancing and laughing all night long. Their two free sets will begin at 10pm.

The High Peaks town of Wilmington, NY, has announced the lineup for their Wilmington Beach Summer Concert Series. The series will run between July 11 and August 29, with all shows taking place at the beautiful Wilmington Town Beach between 6 and 9 p.m.
Wilmington, a small town nestled in the valley of the West Branch of the AuSable River, is a classic Adirondack destination filled to the brim with nature. The town is also the setting of the 3-time annual Wilmington Mountain Music Festival.
One of the town’s best recreational spots, Lake Everest, is home to the annual Wilmington Beach Summer Concert Series.
This summer, the series is back with a fresh lineup of talented musicians. Some of the billed artists include Grey Wolf, The Harbingers and On3.
Besides the series, Lake Everest has many family-friendly activities that are a perfect pairing for any evening show. Rentals are available for aqua bikes, kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards in the lake, and there is easy access to swimming, boating, volleyball and a playground. There is also a nature trail loop that begins to the right of the lake.
Grills are available in the park for anyone looking to cook a meal to watch the show with.
So if you’re in the area and looking to fill up an evening, come down to Wilmington Town Beach and kick back in a lawn chair, or get to your feet and dance to one of the many talented artists with Lake Everest as your backdrop.

Plattsburgh’s Retro Live nightclub has announced two summer blues shows. On Wednesday, July 17, New Orleans’ The Rumble will perform. This concert will be followed by a performance from blues legend Kenny Neal on Saturday, August 10th.
Retro Live is one of Plattsburgh’s premier nightlife destinations. This Summer, the venue hosts a number of special events offering drinks and live music. Throughout June and early July, Retro Live has already presented shows by Canadian Bluesmen the Blackburn Brothers, and multiple local DJs. The venue will continue its blues streak with two more shows announced for July and August.
Bourdreux 7 Come Retro Live
First is a July 17th performance from the Rumble. The seven-piece from New Orleans features seven Grammy winning artists, including bandleader Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr. Boudreaux is the son of Monk Boudreaux, leader of the Golden Eagles tribe of Mardi Gras Indians. Together, the Rumble brings traditional New Orleans music into the modern age. They combine classic meters-esque funk, mardi gras horns, and modern roots music to make a unique blend of sounds.
With Boudreaux leading call and response chants, the Rumble puts audiences at the heart of their shows. This audience involvement combined with the funky, bluesy tones of the Rumble are sure to make a show as lively as a Mardi Gras celebration. In 2024, the group won a Grammy nomination for Best Regional Roots Record. Their performance will take place from 7:00-9:30pm.
Kenny Neal at Retro Live
A show from legendary bluesman Kenny Neal will follow in August. Also hailing from Louisiana, Neal has played the blues since he was only 13 years old. Making a name for himself in Buddy Guy’s backing band, Neal soon went solo. He released his debut Big News From Baton Rouge!! In 1988. With his guitar chops and smooth vocals, Neal quickly became a staple of the swamp blues genre.
In 1991, Neal took to the stage acting in a Broadway production of Mule Bone. In this role, Neal performed poetry from Langston Hughes and Zora Neale Hurston set to music by blues legend Taj Mahal. Following his stint on Broadway, Neal continued to release music. His most recent album Bloodline (2016) has received much critical acclaim. In 2017, Bloodline was nominated for Best Blues Album at the Grammys, and won 2 Blues Music Awards. Neal’s performance will take place on Saturday, August 10th from 8:00-11:00pm.

Just south of Canada, the quaint town of Waddington, NY, is bringing back its annual Waddington Summer Concert Series between July 5 and August 23. Acts in this series have entertained over 15,000 people in just the last five years, with 2024 marking the fifteenth overall year of the series in the beautiful pavilion at Island View Park.
Waddington, NY, is a small and close-knit community with a population of about 2,200 people. Known for some of the best sunsets in the North Country, Waddington is an idyllic destination for anybody in the area looking for a day-long getaway.
However, aside from the town’s walking trails, river-front beach, and annual carp fishing tournaments, the Waddington Summer Concert Series is one of the town’s biggest recreational outlets.
Going by the theme of “Music on the Shore – 2024” for this year’s series, the Waddington summer series is back for its 15th straight year. Moreover, like every year, Waddington summer series is free to the public. Similarly, all shows will run between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m., aside from three that have extended hours. Shows with unique hours are noted in the full-listed lineup.
Additionally performances will take place at the Island View Park pavilion, just next to the St. Lawrence River. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch one of the town’s famous sunsets while watching a show.

Mark Rust will kick off the annual Alice Carr Memorial Dedication concert. Mark, a multitalented musician from Woodstock, NY will perform favorite songs to memorialize friends and family lost to our community in the past year.

New to the pavilion stage is a phenomenal group coming to us from Ontario, Canada. These talented kids will grace our stage for 3 hours! The “Kids” will entertain with a mix of classic rock covers and original tunes, and they will rock it!

Back by popular demand, we present everyoneâs favorite group: Alex, Rob and Frank have been making music together since 1971. Also, they love what they do and it shows.
July 26th – Phil Hurley
Phil Hurley is returning to the Waddington stage this year. Phil is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, vocalist and bassist. This talented musician does it all. In fact he has played with many bands you would recognize and has written songs for films and TV shows. Phil is a true professional and will certainly entertain.

August 16th – Chris Taylor and the Custom Taylor Band
Hailing from central New York, Chris and his band are New York’s premiere Top 40 Country Music band. The band has opened for many country music recording artists. Come on down for an up-close concert with these very talented musicians.
August 23rd – Northbound
We are very proud and honored to present Northbound. These talented men have been playing a mix of pop, folk and rock together for years. They are tight and in-tune, with a relaxed interaction on stage that is sure to charm and entertain.
Saranac Lake’s Waterhole Music Lounge has an exciting slate of Thursday “Parties on the Patio” and other events spanning from July 4 to 25. The lineup of free, outside events also includes 2 Saturday Nights on the Patios on July 13 and 20 and the Howl Story Slam on July 9.
Kicking off July’s events at the Waterhole on July 4 is Party on the Patio with Joslyn & The Sweet Compression. The R&B band is making their return to Saranac Lake after an electrifying performance at the venue’s Winter Carnival. Led by Joslyn Hampton, the six-piece ensemble’s funky, yet soulful and psychedelic musical productions never fail to generate a fun environment.
On Tuesday, July 9, the Waterhole presents a different form of entertainment with a storytelling slam. The Adirondack Center for Writing and North Country Public Radio (NCPR) will co-host the event. Anyone interested in signing up for the Howl Story Slam with a story to tell may do so. The night’s story theme is “Risky Business,” ensuring that audience members and storytellers simultaneously have an amusing time.
The third type of event presented by the Waterhole this month is a thrilling Saturday night edition of Party on the Patio. Saturday Night on the Patio will take place twice throughout the month. Firstly, The Seapods, a band from North Country labeled “Psychedelic Americana” will play on the patio on July 13 from 6-10 PM. On the following Saturday, July 20, genre-bending group Annie in the Water from Saratoga Springs, will play an incredible free show on the patio.

The Songs at Mirror Lake summer series is returning to Lake Placid once again this year. All shows will be free to the public and take place Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. at the scenic Mid’s Park in downtown Lake Placid.
Initially beginning in 2006, Songs at Mirror Lake has consistently strived to host free, communal and family-friendly musical concerts during the summer months. This year’s shows are no different.
Located in Mid’s Park, directly next to the gorgeous Mirror Lake in Lake Placid, all Songs at Mirror Lake performances have a picturesque backdrop to add to the already vibrant atmosphere.
In each year’s series, every night is themed around a different genre of music. Some of this year’s themes include Philly funk, reggae and roots rock.
All shows will run between 7-9 p.m., but the grassy field overlooking the stage fills up quickly, so guests are advised to arrive early for good spots. Seating is not offered, so make sure to bring some blankets and lawn chairs. If you have a boat with no motor, you are more than welcome to paddle up to the shore and watch any of the shows from there.
Meter parking is available on Main Street and is free after 6:00 p.m. A public bathroom is also available in the Main Street Parking Lot.
Guests are welcome to bring food and drink from home as long as it is properly disposed of. T-shirts, hats, reusable cups and stadium seats are all available for purchase at the venue.
Songs at Mirror Lake (SAML) is an all-volunteer, nonprofit community organization whose mission is to introduce residents and visitors to a diverse range of musical offerings and to provide regional artists with a platform for exposure and experience.

The town of Long Lake has announced the 2024 lineup for its Summer Music by the Lake concerts. Concerts will take place at the Long Lake Town Beach 6-8pm each Friday until August 23rd. This year’s concerts will highlight yacht rock, alternative, and tributes to classic acts.
Long Lake is situated in the heart of the Adirondacks, two hours north of Albany. With pristine forests and waters, visitors have hailed the town as one of the most scenic in all of New York. At the center of Long Lake’s recreation is the town beach. In addition to swimming and boating, visitors can enjoy a host of music performances at the beach throughout the Summer Season.
Before the start of the Music by the Lake series, Long Lake Town Beach will host a special July 4th concert. The concert features NYC-based yacht rock outfit The Yacht Lobsters. Founded in 2022, the septet mixes the sounds of classic acts like Hall and Oates, with a jazz horn section, and funky rhythms to make endearingly retro songs. This concert comes as part of a day-long celebration, including barbeques, bake sales, and fireworks. The Yacht Lobsters will begin at 6:30pm on the beach stage.
The Friday Music by the Lake concerts will begin July 5th with a special open mic night. At the concert, local artists can sign up to perform sets. The open mic night will showcase a range of local artists and sounds sure to captivate beach-goers.
On July 12th, New Paltz’s Gratefully Yours will perform a set at the town beach. Keyboardist Alex Mazour founded the band in 2012 to recreate the Grateful Dead’s timeless classics. The group plays off the energy of their crowds, capturing the improvisational talent of the original band. Gratefully Yours puts their audiences at the center of performances, allowing them to submit dream setlists to play. With members from the Dark Star Orchestra and Trey Anastasio Band, Gratefully Yours is one of the premier Grateful Dead tributes around today.
July 19th will feature a set by the Jess Novak Band. Multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Jess Novak formed the group with a host of Syracuse’s premier musicians to perform blues and soul-influenced rock. Novak performs over 150 shows each year, which have taken her everywhere from Burlington to Key West. On top of releasing 12 albums, Novak also started the F.I.R.E festival to highlight female musicians.
The Green River Tribute Band will perform on July 26th. NYC-native Rick Horvath has led Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute bands since he was 13 years old. CCR was a staple of 1960s and 70s rock, selling over 30 million records in their heyday. Green River pays tribute to this classic group with 90-minute sets, encompassing faithful covers of classic CCR tunes. Audiences can expect to hear CCR favorites like “Proud Mary” and “Bad Moon Rising.”
Night School will kick off August, with an evening concert on the 2nd. The five-piece dance rock group hails from Tupper Lake in the heart of the Adirondacks. The band defies genre, playing danceable hits of all types from the past. Playing everything from the Beatles and Talking Heads, to Rick James, Night School is bound to keep audiences grooving throughout their whole set.
August 9th will feature a performance by the Altered Tones. The four-piece band consists of local artists from Long Lake and Tupper Lake united by a love of 90s music. Together, the Altered Tones pump out acoustic covers of classic rock and alternative for audiences to enjoy. Concert-goers are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs and coolers to boost their enjoyment.
Booyah will perform an August 16th concert of their unique brand of funk. For over eight years, Booyah’s seven members have played unique funk-imbued takes on classic tracks. With funk versions of David Bowie, Talking Heads, and Rage Against the Machine songs, Booyah will keep their audiences dancing all night.
Big Martha will close out the Music by the Lake concert series with an August 23rd show. Hailing from Buffalo, Big Martha offers one of the most faithful Allman Brothers experiences. Together, the six-piece band crafts an energetic set from one of the greatest Southern rock catalogs in music history.
