The city of Rensselaer, NY, has two separate concert series on tap this summer.
The first, the Rensselaer City Concert Series, began on June 17 and will last until July 29 at Riverfront Park. The second, the Summer Jam Concert Series, began on June 26 and will last until August 7 at the North End Firehouse on Washington Avenue. Each concert for both series is weekly from 6 pm to 8 pm. While the city hosts two separate series at the same time, each serves a different purpose and centers on different artists and organizations. The Rensselaer City Concert Series is a government-affiliated program hosted by the City of Rensselaer. All events for the Rennselaer City Concert Series are free and available for all ages.
A wide variety of performers make the lineup of the City Concert Series, encompassing all genres for all listeners. Performances range from rock outfits like Gone Grey and Pete & Friends to Donny Elvis, a nationally known Elvis impersonator making an appearance at both series, to intimate smooth jazz from Standard Edition.
However, the Summer Jam Concert series is hosted by Kiwanis, a charity that provides after-school programs to children and schools across the country. Summer Jam Concert Series promotes rock artists of all subgenres: classic rock, hard rock, pop rock, contemporary, and even a night of Celtic folk music. Each week, the artists performing at Summer Jam bring the audience back to the roots of rock and roll. Celebrate the summer with a throwback to the classic rock songs everyone knows and loves. The series is a free event enjoyed by the whole family.

The Songs at Mirror Lake summer series is returning to Lake Placid once again this year. All shows will be free to the public and take place Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. at the scenic Mid’s Park in downtown Lake Placid.
Initially beginning in 2006, Songs at Mirror Lake has consistently strived to host free, communal and family-friendly musical concerts during the summer months. This year’s shows are no different.
Located in Mid’s Park, directly next to the gorgeous Mirror Lake in Lake Placid, all Songs at Mirror Lake performances have a picturesque backdrop to add to the already vibrant atmosphere.
In each year’s series, every night is themed around a different genre of music. Some of this year’s themes include Philly funk, reggae and roots rock.
All shows will run between 7-9 p.m., but the grassy field overlooking the stage fills up quickly, so guests are advised to arrive early for good spots. Seating is not offered, so make sure to bring some blankets and lawn chairs. If you have a boat with no motor, you are more than welcome to paddle up to the shore and watch any of the shows from there.
Meter parking is available on Main Street and is free after 6:00 p.m. A public bathroom is also available in the Main Street Parking Lot.
Guests are welcome to bring food and drink from home as long as it is properly disposed of. T-shirts, hats, reusable cups and stadium seats are all available for purchase at the venue.
Songs at Mirror Lake (SAML) is an all-volunteer, nonprofit community organization whose mission is to introduce residents and visitors to a diverse range of musical offerings and to provide regional artists with a platform for exposure and experience.

Clifton Park in Saratoga County, NY is once again hosting its Performing Arts at The Commons concert series starting on June 30.
The free concerts take place on Wednesday, Sunday and Thursday evenings from June 30 to Aug 29. Wednesday night performances are family centered events that are always kid friendly. The first Wednesday will feature Mr. Mike The Magician and his comedy magic show.
The series also features two cover bands performing classic rock music to the Clifton Park community. Fleetwood Macked, who will perform on Aug 4 not only sound like the famous band but also resemble them in looks and character. They are “Hailed as the most authentic Fleetwood Mac tribute band in the U.S.” according to their website.
Bon Journey, a tribute band to both Bon Jovi and Journey, will take to the Clifton Common Stage on Aug 18. The band includes Bobby Pizzoferrato, a former member of the band Wild Cherry. The band has three other lead singers making it a vocal heavy act.
Clifton Park and its surrounding areas have events all summer long. The same opening weekend of the performing arts concert series is the 47th annual Saratoga Jazz Festival. The Opera Saratoga Summer festival happens between June 2 and July 7.

Schroon Lake Arts Council will present its 50th summer of Live music in the Boathouse Theater from July 3 to Aug 10.
This year’s theme is “Roots of Adirondack Music” featuring the bands and artists that make up the Adirondack style of folk. All of the concerts are free and volunteer run. The concerts also overlook Schroon Lake located in the eastern part of Adirondack State Park.
Boathouse Theater has been operating since 1874 and is just one of the attractions in the town of Schroon. People come to the area for fishing, hiking and to soak in views of Schroon lake.
The lineup of bands is full of folk, blues and genre bending performances. On July 3, Get Up Jack, an Irish folk band, will start off the series. They have performed at Boathouse theater for multiple years and are a fan favorite. Music isn’t the only thing that brings people to the theater. On July 13, The Puppet People will present their “Puppet Potpourri.” Additionally, on July 15, the arts council will show the PBS documentary, “Songs To Keep: Treasures Of An Adirondack Folk Collector,” about the Adirondack folk artist Marjorie Lansing Porter.

The Ballston Spa Business and Professional Association, located in Ballston Spa, NY, has announced its summer concert series, “Concerts in the Park.” Events and performances will take place weekly on Thursdays from 6-8 pm in Lions Music Park at the historic Iron Spring Park on Front Street. Attendees can enjoy performances from a wide variety of performers, including community symphonic bands and local rock groups.
Formed in 1983, the BSBPA is committed to making Ballston Spa a thriving, prosperous community that is great for both business and everyday life. Since its inception, they have promoted local vendors, merchants, and businesses alongside artists and musicians in and surrounding the area. The Concerts in the Park series is one of their many events promoting the extensive talent in the thriving neighborhood.

The Ballston Spa Community Band makes their return to the concert series just in time for the opening performance. Since 2005, the volunteer musicians that make up the band have bonded over their love of music. About a dozen times each year, the Ballston Spa Community Band performs in schools, parks, and theaters in the area. Join them for a sensational opening performance on June 27.
For the last 15 years, HEARD has brought captivating fusions of jazz, improvisational, and world music to festivals and concerts all over the country. Their vibrant sound incorporates influences from West Africa, Brazil, the Caribbean, and beyond.
Based in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Fenimore Blues performs an eclectic mix of blues, R&B, and rock. The blend of genres comes from multiple inspirations, including Bonnie Raitt, Aretha Franklin, the Neville Brothers, the Allman Brothers, Linda Ronstadt, Etta James, Santana, and even Tedeschi Trucks. Their unique stage presence stems from its instrumentation – Sherian Nolan’s powerful vocals are backed by guitar, keyboards, saxophone, bass, and drums, and one band member doubling on accordion.
Concerts in the Park once again welcomes the Union Fire Company Band with an ice cream social, accompanied by a performance from the Union Fire Company Band. Support the Ballston Spa local fire department on August 1st.
Hailing from Upstate NY, Sirsy is a sassy pop-rock duo with an amazing musical ability. Drummer Melanie Krahmer, who also plays keyboards, is joined by her husband John (guitar), these multi-instrumentalists manage to sound like a full band. Sirsy is known for their passionate, honest, heartfelt live performances. The Boston Globe calls SIRSY the “little band with the big sound.”
For the last 30 years, Lustre Kings have cemented themselves as focused, driven, and passionate musicians returning to their roots. Their reverb-driven sounds of early rock lean on touchstones of country, blues, and R&B.
The Protones are a group of well-seasoned musicians bringing back the classic sounds of 70s rock to venues and festivals all over the state. Join them as they close out the Concerts in the Park series on August 22!
The Bethlehem Parks and Recreation Department, Bethlehem Public Library, and Friends of Bethlehem Public Library are teaming up to bring back their popular Thursdays in the Park event series.
All shows will begin at 6:00 p.m. on the special events lawn (adjacent to the pool entrance) at Elm Avenue Park unless an alternate park location is noted.
Bethlehem, NY just south of Albany, has all the benefits of being a smaller town while still being so close to a big city.
A staple in the community for years, Thursdays in the Park shows are the perfect summer evening activity for anyone in Bethlehem or the surrounding area looking to sprawl out on some lush grass and take in live music or performances. Almost every Thursday between June 27 and August 22 will bring a new act, with all being family-friendly performances that are great for all ages.
Unless otherwise stated, all of the shows this year will take place in Bethlehem’s largest park, the gorgeous Elm Avenue Park. Elm Avenue Park has a wide variety of facilities, including a pool complex, tennis and basketball courts, pavilions, a fitness trail, playing fields, volleyball courts, shuffleboard, a dog park, and a playground. On top of all that, the park has an elevated stage overlooking a vast grass field.
Some of this year’s diverse acts include Jester Jim the Juggler, British Vinyl, a British Invasion tribute band and a production of “Finding Nemo Jr.” thrown by the Playhouse Stage Company.

Queens College and NYC Parks have announced the launch of their borough-wide free cultural events initiative, running now through October. The collaborative effort will be kicked off with a launch event on June 27 at Archie Spigner Park, which will also be a part of Queens Rising, a month-long, multi-disciplinary arts celebration created to highlight the boroughâs culture and creative diversity.
Queens College School of Arts offers the most comprehensive, multidisciplinary arts education within the City University of New York (CUNY) system. Founded in 2022, it houses renowned programs in theatre, dance, fashion, studio art, and design as well as the Aaron Copland School of Music, Media Studies, and the MFA in Creative Writing and Literary Translation.
Their initiative, partnered with NYC Parks, will provide access to the Inaugural Kupferberg Center for the arts-sponsored Queens Jazz Trail Concert Series and feature emerging and professional artists from the Queens College School of Arts
Among the initiative highlights are the Beach Opening Ceremony at Rockaway Beach and Saturday music concerts at Dinkinsâ Circle in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. Art and nature walks will be offered in collaboration with the collegeâs Godwin-Ternbach Museum, the only museum in the borough with a collection that spans antiquity to the present day. Events will also take place in Alley Pond Park, Crocheron Park, Forest Park, Highland Park, and parks in southeast Queens and the Rockaways.
To kick off the initiative, a free and open-to-the-public launch event will be held on June 27 at Archie Spigner Park, Jamaica, Queens.
The Queens College Aaron Copland School of Music Jazz Trio and the Antonio Hart Quartet will perform. Emmy-nominated saxophonist Hart is a professor of jazz studies in the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. Invited speakers include Jacqueline Langsam, Queens Borough commissioner, NYC Parks; Frank H. Wu, president, Queens College; Ellen Kodadek, executive director, Flushing Town Hall; Simone Yearwood, interim dean of Arts and Humanities, Queens College; and local elected officials.
The launch event will also be a collaboration with Queens Rising, an annual month-long beacon of cultural celebration, dedicated to illuminating the vibrant tapestry of Queens, New York.
Since its inception in 2022, Queens Rising has served as a catalyst for unity, bringing together artists, performers, and organizations to showcase the borough’s rich artistic heritage. It acts as a catalyst for collaboration, connecting artists, venues, and businesses to maximize opportunities for arts and culture to flourish in Queens. At Queens Rising, the belief in the transformative power of art and culture to inspire, connect, and uplift communities is steadfast. Individuals are invited to join in celebrating the diverse cultural landscape of Queens and shaping a brighter future through creativity and collaboration.

Lake George’s summer concert series “Fridays at the Lake” returns this year with an exciting lineup. From July 5 to August 30, Shepard Park Amphitheater will host a concert every Friday. Concerts are free, and will feature a beer and wine garden.

On July 5, The Ultimates will open for the New York Players, who will be returning to Fridays at the Lake this year. The New York Players are known for being dance party experts, with over 1,000 events under their belt. On July 12, Yellow Dog will open for Soul Session.
Dirt Cheap will open for E.B Jeb with classic blues and rock on July 19. E.B Jeb has been bringing authentic Southern Rock to upstate New York since 1980.
July 26, Saratoga-based pop group The Schmooze will open for Vivid. The Hartford based band is known for playing upbeat and danceable pop rock covers.

On August 30, Troy rock trio Super 400 will open for Ten Most Wanted. The Ten Most Wanted is a ten piece band known for their powerful vocals and sizzling horn section.
All events are family & dog friendly, and bouncy houses will be available. Openers will take the stage at 6:00, and headliners will start performing at 7:30. Saugerties’ exciting multi-arts and cultural center, The Local, is following up its highly acclaimed first year with another remarkable series of live events starting in September. With 16 shows previewed, and more to come, The Local is continuing its mission of bringing a diverse lineup of world-class artists from around the globe and around the corner to perform in an intimate setting.
The Local is a new venue for arts, culture, and community in Saugerties, NY, founded by Isabel Soffer and Danny Melnick, co-founders of Hudson Valley Live. The two Saugerties-based music producers and performing-arts professionals have each devoted more than 30 years to producing festivals, concerts, and curated arts experiences.
Besides its own world-class series of music and dance events, the ADA-accessible space is available to rent for parties, concerts, pop-ups, gallery exhibits, and more. The Local is located in the heart of the Village of Saugerties at 16 John St., behind the Saugerties Reformed Church on Main Street.
In The Local’s first year, more than 50 acclaimed acts performed, dozens of shows sold out and a fundraiser to help purchase a new stage and make necessary upgrades raised more than $35,000.
This upcoming season will see an eclectic range of performances—and many Hudson Valley NY debuts—including Brazilian singer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Bia Ferreira (Sept. 25); Habibi Festival Hudson Valley with Arabic Trance Jazz (Oct. 3); and the ambient country sounds of SUSS (Nov. 1), described as “Brian Eno meets Ennio Morricone.” Psychedelic Furs guitarist Knox Chandler will be a special guest of Doom Jazz duo Bobby Previte and Jamie Saft (Nov. 2), and the riveting 20-piece NYC Ska Orchestra brings their uplifting big-band sound (Nov. 9).
Plus, this season will bring additional collaborations with renowned Brooklyn venue Barbès Brooklyn, more dance parties with Turntables on the Hudson (their April 2024 dance party at The Local with DJ Nickodemus was a wild success), and a continuation of the popular Consider This speaker series featuring experts discussing topics relevant to our communities.
The entire season kicks off Friday, Sept. 20, with a thrilling performance by acclaimed eight-piece band Sidy Samb’s Afroflamenco, direct from Spain.

Fri., Nov. 1, 8pm – Ambient Country: SUSS Cowpunk pioneer Bob Holmes, w/ Jonathan Gregg and Pat Irwin, combine roots music with elements of electronic and shoegaze for a sound described as an imagined collaboration between Brian Eno and Ennio Morricone.
Sat., Nov. 2, 8pm – Doom Jazz: Bobby Previte & Jamie Saft with Knox Chandler A vast landscape of cascading sound diving deeply into the abyss, marrying the intricate web of jazz and the visceral heft of rock. W/S/G guitarist Knox Chandler (Psychedelic Furs, Lou Reed, REM).
Sat., Nov. 9, 8pm – NYC Ska Orchestra This 20-piece big band performs originals and arrangements of Jamaican ska, mento, rock steady, and reggae from the 1950s-60s. They’ve recorded and/or performed with Peter Tosh, Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer, Skatalites, Toots & The Maytals, and more.
Sun., Nov. 10, 5pm – Gospel: Mount Olive Men’s Chorus / Innervisions One of the area’s preeminent gospel ensembles, performing in gospel quartet style—the same tradition that gave rise to Mavis Staples, Sam Cooke, Wilson Pickett, and Lou Rawls. Innervisions is led by Rev. Thomas V. House, a prominent member of the legendary Willie Neal Johnson and the Gospel Keynotes from TX.

Sat., Dec. 7, 8pm – The Harpweaver: Maeve Gilchrist Scottish-born harper, composer and producer Gilchrist’s innovative approach to her instrument stretches its harmonic limits and improvisational possibilities. She’s performed with Yo-Yo Ma, Esperanza Spalding, Arooj Aftaab, and many others.
Sat., Dec. 14, 8pm – Matt Wilson Christmas Tree-O Matt Wilson is one of the most in-demand musicians in jazz, and Christmas Tree-O is a joyous project celebrating the holiday season.
This Summer, Playland Amusement Park in Port Chester presents the Playland Summer Sounds Concert Series from July 6 to Aug 31.
This is Playlandâs first partnership with The Capitol Theatre, a historical venue that has showcased legends like Bob Dylan, The Strokes and David Bowie. Playland is also collaborating with The Rock and Roll Playhouse from July 7 to Sept 1 for a family concert series.
The Rock and Roll Playhouse was founded in 2014 as a way for children to interact with music of all different genres. The group is based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, it has hosted over 1000 shows all over the U.S. Playhouse will present sing-along performances and family friendly covers of Queen, Taylor Swift and more.
Playland Summer Sounds will kick off with 1 Wild Night, a Bon Jovi Tribute band. The next day, on July 7, The Rock and Roll Playhouse: The Music of Queen the next day.
Playland is conveniently located near the Metro North Station in Rye, Ny. Beyond musical performances park guests can enjoy the 50 rides and attractions the area has to offer. Every Friday night, the park will have fireworks shows starting June 28. Playland has been entertaining the Long Island area since 1928. Anyone can attend the concerts with a day pass or an all-access season pass.
