Owego’s Strawberry Festival will run from June 13 to 15 with a 5K, a block party, a parade, various musical acts, and a lot of strawberries.
Over the past 42 years and in many forms, the community of Owego has worked together to bring the Strawberry Festival to fruition and make it the spectacle it is now. In its current form, the celebration takes place over 3 days, two venues, and 27 performances.
Thursday, June 13
At 5 PM the festival will begin with a Rock and Run. The event consists of a one-mile kidsâ fun run starting at 5:15 as well as a 5K Run and Walk starting at 6 PM. The event held at Hickories Park in Owego, is presented by Tioga State Bank and the Historic Owego Marketplace. Hi-Way Fruit Market and The Dean Goble Band will play during throughout the day.

Friday, June 14
At 5 PM, the festival will move to downtown Owego for the Block Party. There will be musical acts throughout the day on three different stages. Namely, the Nate Gross Band, fronted by Nate Gross, a Syracuse Area Music Award recipient, will play the Courthouse Stage at 6:30 PM. Following the Nate Gross Band is Stone Senate. The band, who are returning to the Strawberry Festival will hit the stage at 8:15.
Other performances will include bands, Foggy Maloon, Making The Band, Crossing the Line, and others. Additionally, there will be other forms of entertainment including jugglers, busking, and the Kidz zONe, hosted by the Owego Nazarene Church. The Courthouse Square will have the Wine & Beer Tasting Tent open from 5:30-8:30 PM
Afterwards, A firework show sponsored this year by the Pumpelly Estate will take place in Draper Park at 9:30 PM.
Stone Senate
Saturday, June 15
At 9:30 AM the annual parade will begin. Coordinated by John Loftus, and led by Grand Marshals Jim Raftis Sr. and Dick Franz, the parade will travel through Downtown Owego. The celebrations will include Hose Teams, Inc., Owego Little League, and veteran organizations.
After the parade, music will begin at 11 AM with 17 acts playing throughout the day across four stages, with additional shows at the M&T Bank Lawn, Pumpelly Estate, and Belva Lockwood Inn Lawn. The bands include Randy McStine with a 3-hour performance, the Waverly High School Band, Junkyard Heights, and many others.

Country band Eastbound Jesus are excited to announce the lineup for the 2024 rendition of their Eastbound Throwdown festival. The event features two days of nonstop concerts and camping behind the scenic views of Irwin Family Farm in Salem, NY.
Formed in 2011 in Greenwich, NY, Eastbound Jesus has been bringing country music to upstate New York for over a decade. In 2015, the band started toying around with the idea of throwing their own music festival, not only to showcase their music but other bands and friends, as well. The first rendition of Eastbound Throwdown was performed in a softball field just behind a local Elk’s lodge. However, the next year, the band reached out to the Irwin Family Farm, who unanimously agreed to host. The festival has been there ever since.
Since the event’s inception in 2016, thousands of fans have camped out in Salem to take part in the Eastbound Throwdown fun. Visitors are encouraged to camp out, as well as tailgate alongside food and drink vendors. Eastbound Throwdown is a family-friendly event and even includes a family camping area for children.
Eastbound Throwdown 2024 will be hosting a series of performers, most of whom are collaborators and friends of Eastbound Jesus. Join them on September 6th and 7th for two fun-filled nights of camping and country music!

1. Excision
This comes as no surprise as the crowned dubstep DJ has without a doubt paved the way for EDM. Excision is a producer that knows the secret to making his set better is through listening to his fans. His expertise in the art meshed with his devotion to the fan experience is what makes his sets a must see. He utilizes immersive visuals that have even Kanye West amazed and seeking this kind of talent on his team. All headbangers will pile in for his performance and you should too!

2. Pretty Lights
It’s been a decade since Pretty Lights has been to Rothbury and that’s what has people absolutely going wild for his name on this lineup. This musical project fuses electronic beats, poetic samples, modular synthesizers, and live musicians. This set is about to transport listeners to cosmic planes with his light show. Pretty Lights’ 5 year hiatus has allowed to him to construct his new inter-dimensional sound-ship system that will utilize numerous mediums.
3. INZO
If you are a fan of introspective music compiled with euphoric feelings then INZO has the show for you. This young artist is known for blending Alan Watts spokesmen speeches into his tunes that brings nothing but beautiful energy into the atmosphere. He encapsulates what Electric Forest is all about and his set is about to enhance all the magic that this festival has.
4. The Disco Biscuits
This band is no surprise to everyone that has seen them live at least once in their lifetime. The Disco Biscuits are pioneers of “trance-fusion,” bridging the gap between EDM and jam rock. So for all jam lovers wanting to delve deeper into EDM and all bass fiends looking to branch out, this band is the answer for you. Philadelphia’s own brings people together because you just can’t help but dance.

5. Everything Always
All house music lovers are undeniably not missing this iconic performance and you shouldn’t either. This project is brought together by two booming producers in the industry who have taken over the mainstream scene as well from their catchy songs. Dom Dolla and John Summit are huge names in the festival space. Each track they release has toppled the charts so seeing them together is going to bring a set that is one to remember.
6. Subtronics
Bassheads and riddem connoisseurs will always catch a Subtronics set. Heavy bass might deter some people from seeing certain artists. However, Subtronics has to be one of the most talented producers in the game right now and if you miss seeing him then you’re missing out. Each summer festival set he plays is so different from the last. He constantly is bringing in new mixes, insane visuals, and crazy drops that always get jaws floored. Subtronics is an artist who if you miss out on him now you will regret it later.

7. Boogie T
Boogie T has always brought the funk into EDM. He gets weird with his sound in the best way possible. His Louisiana roots give his tunes a twang that dubstep hasn’t seen. The myriad of instruments he utilizes enhances his artistry and obviously there is no choice at that point but to boogie.

8. Lettuce
Bring your greens to this performance because the vibes will be effortlessly high. This GRAMMY Award nominated six-piece feeds the souls of many with their music. With over three decades together, Lettuce has cemented their status as boundary pushing innovators. Their sound compiles jazz chords, psychedelic passages, big horns and hip-hop elements.
9. LSZEE
This project has fans going absolutely insane. LSDREAM and CloZee join together for a duo performance that is about to be a moment in EDM history. Both producers have left their mark on the scene with their soul transformative music. Now that they’re coming together this is only going to transcend that but ten-fold over. They spent the past year writing an album together and meshing their artistry. All of which will debut right at Electric Forest. Both artists dedicate their music to the human experience and allowing their audience to reconnect with the Earth around them. Forest attendees will be the first to get a glimpse of this meditative and enriching experience.

10. The String Cheese Incident
Last but most definitely not least is the Electric Forest founders themselves; The String Cheese Incident. This jam band from Colorado has had 30 years under their belt to build their unique sound. They utilize bluegrass sounds and rock to bring a groovy show to their fans. They are the backbone of Electric Forest and always have a big iconic moment to celebrate the festivities. The group always plays two sets so make it your mission to catch at least one!

This is just a short list of the astounding talent that Electric Forest has to offer in 2024. Their is countless other artists to put on here that will have excellent performances to catch. But that’s the magic of Forest, have your list of people to see but see where the trees end up taking you. This is how you find your new favorite artist. Hot 97’s annual Summer Jam concert event came and went this past weekend. The annual hip hop showcase held at Elmont’s UBS arena where artists like Cash Cobain, Lola Brooke, 41, French Montana, Davido, Doja Cat, Sexyy Red and legacy acts such as Method Man & Redman all performed. While the concert celebrated hip hop old and new, Method Man made it clear that this might be his last time performing at the annual hip hop festival.
As Hot 97 took to Instagram to share highlights from the event, Method Man shared in the comments that the audience’s reaction was not to his liking. With the legendary rhymer stating that the audience was “not our crowd at all.” However, the “Tical” rapper held no qualms towards Hot 97 pillars and hosts Ebro and Peter Rosenbengerg, but simply stated that “at this point the generation gap is just too wide for me.”
With the historic radio station celebrating their 30th annual Summer Jam event, Method Man, Redman and the likes of Rakim and Big Daddy Kane were brought out to commemorate three decades of hip hop at the radio station. Moreover, Big Daddy Kane shared a heartfelt moment with the crowd, bringing out the late Mister Cee’s brother and sister to commemorate the legendary, late DJ’s tribute with a moment of silence, instructing the crowd to throw up C’s.
However, despite this, Summer Jam has routinely curated its setlist to cater to hip hop’s newer acts. With focuses on Cash Cobain — who has taken airwaves by storm with his hit-record “Fisherrr”– drill rappers 41 and Sexxy Red, with A Boogie serving as a celebrity host. From afar the lack of crowd reaction seems to be the result of hip hop being quick to discard its legends, rather than learn and study their work, which is a stark contrast to country much and rock & roll acts. As Meth and Red performed their hits includng their 1999 collaborative single “Da Rockwilder,” hip hop showed why it may not always be the best idea to cling to the youth for relevance, as it may result in legends not getting their just due.
After several weeks of great performances, the Geneva Music Festival is wrapping up for the 2024 season. The final week of performances begins on June 4, with a free lakefront concert. This concert is followed by a photography exhibition and chamber performance on June 7 while June 9 marks the end of the season, with an outdoors blues concert closing out the festival.
Violinist Geoffrey Herd founded the Geneva Music Festival in 2011, as a weekend to spread appreciation of classical music. The festival soon evolved into a four-week long celebration, attracting artists from across the globe. While originally based in classical music, the festival also now highlights jazz, and bluegrass artists. The festival’s mission is to spread music appreciation to everyone, being an all-ages event. The event now attracts thousands of concert-goers from across the Finger Lakes.
2024 has already been a busy season for the Geneva Music Festival, hosting a number of spectacular performances. The festival kicked off with a sold-out Musicology Mixer night at Geneva’s Linden Social Club. Week two of the festival saw the acclaimed Brentano Quartet play Hobart and William Smith Colleges’ Gearan Center. The Juilliard-formed quartet played a selection from Haydn, Shostakovich, and Mendelssohn.

The festival’s final week will kick off with a free lakefront concert on June 4th, at 8:15pm. This concert will be a preview for the festival’s final artist-in-residence concert. The theme of this year’s final concert is “Night and Day,” with pieces meant to illustrate the progression from dawn to dusk. World-renowned cellist Clive Greensmith, pianist Anna Petrova, and other talented musicians will perform. The concert will begin with “String Quartet Op. 76, No.4” by Haydn, meant to represent the sunrise. It will also feature modern composer Mark Olivieri’s “Artifacts of a Valiant Past”, a Scriabin solo by pianist Anna Petrova, a piano trio by Kaija Saariaho, and a Schoenberg tone-poem for a string sextet.

[Scriabin] was inspired to write this piece when he first saw the sea, and so you can hear the peacefulness and the beauty of that; and the second movement is very turbulent and represents the stormy sea”

Hobart and William Smith Colleges’ Gearan Center will host the concert on June 7th, at 7:30pm. Prior to the concert, a photography exhibition highlighting local artists will be held at the center’s Melly Lobby.
The final concert of the season will be The Brothers Blue, a local cross-genre bluegrass band. Back by popular demand, the concert will be held outdoors at Geneva on the Lake. The Brothers Blue will close out the season with their invigorating fiddle, mandolin, and banjo playing. This concert will take place June 9th, at 2:00pm.

Hosted by CNY Jazz foundation, the 20th Jazz In The City, a free public health concert series, will commence on June 13 in Syracuse.
Aside from music, the festival includes vendors, food and most importantly its “healthcare village” sponsored by Syracuse Community Health. Urban Neighborhoods in Syracuse continue to face disparities when it comes to healthcare. With COVID-19, the community was unable to receive the care they needed. SCH staff will conduct free screenings and consultations to anyone who requests them.
Syracuse Community Health COO Jessica Yoxall explained in a press release, “we highlight the importance of preventative care and screenings to promote positive health outcomes. By increasing awareness and expanding health education, we together, can achieve health equity and enhance the quality of care in Onondaga County.”
These free concerts and healthcare services will be offered every Thursday from June 13 to August 15 at various parks and community centers in the city. Performances include Syracuse’s own The BlackLites and Albany’s Alex Torres.
CNY Jazz foundation has been bringing Jazz to upstate New York since its establishment in 1998. Along with Jazz In The City, CNY hosts numerous other programs such as Northeast Jazz & Wine, SummerJazz Workshop and the Central New York Jazz Orchestra.

The esteemed Polish music festival, Jazztopad will return to New York and Canada for the eighth time in its history on June 13 through June 27.
Jazztopad, as it implies in the title, is one of Poland’s biggest festivals in Jazz and Improvised music. As the eight North American Jazztopad, the festival does have a New York Focus but performances will travel to Philadelphia and Canada. The last two shows, Hand to Earth with Amalia Umeda on June 26 and an ensemble on June 27, are in collaboration with the Coastal Jazz and Blues Society in Vancouver. The New York dates include some jazz specific venues like Dizzy’s Club and barbès.
The Festival is possible due to the work of Witold Lutosławski National Forum of Music and The Polish Cultural Institute New York. The NFM was founded as an institution in 2014 and has created festivals like The International Festival Wratislavia Cantans and Musica Electronica Nova along with various ensembles and orchestras. The Polish Cultural Institute New York has shared Polish art and history all across the country since its establishment in 2000. The Institute works with Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the Julliard School of Music and more.
Artists from around the world will perform at Jazztopad including the Australian contemporary ensemble, Hand and Heart, and Polish violinist, Amalia Umeda. One of the artists featured in Jazzopad is Kris Davis, a Canadian pianist and composer. She is a Grammy award winning artist and has released 24 records as a leader or co-leader. At Jazzopad, she will perform with The Lutosławski Quartet, an NFM ensemble founded in 2007.
On June 13, Kris Davis and The Lutosławski Quartet will perform at Dizzys Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center, an intimate venue in New York that features artists from around the world since it officially became a department of Lincoln Center in 1991. Jazztopad will move to barbès on June 14 and 15. Barbès is a Brooklyn Jazz club that was named in the top ten best Jazz clubs in the country by Playboy Magazine.

The Americade Motorcycle Rally will be hosting a two-day block party at Blais Park on the âBring It! Bike Showâ stage in Lake George, from Friday, May 31 until Saturday, June 1. This event is free to the public and features live concerts from six different performers, three on each day, starting at 4:00 pm.
Since May 1983, Americade has served as one of the largest social events in the United States for all who engage in motorcycling. The rally features trade shows, races, both guided and unguided tours, and the most factory demos of any motorcycle exposition in the country.
Created by motorcyclist Bill Dutcher, Americade was originally affiliated with Aspencade, a motorcycle rally located in New Mexico, extending it to the East Coast and aptly naming the convention “Aspencade East.” By 1986, Aspencade East adopted the name “Americade” to signify its newly nationalized audience. That year, Americade became the largest touring motorcycle rally in the United States, with a crowd of 10,000. In 2024, Americade expects to host up to 50,000 people. Despite its massive size, Americade has provided an inclusive and family-friendly space to showcase the best of motorcycling.
In addition to the Block Party, Americade entertains its guests with rodeos, barbecues, and comedy and stunt shows featuring hundreds of local artists and performers. Americade also serves as an active fundraiser, donating to local and regional charities, raising up to $600,000 in previous years. Fundraisers for organizations like Ride For Kids, which is led by cyclists to raise money for pediatric cancer research and treatment, the Wounded Warrior Project, which raises money for veterans, and several more based in the Lake George area will be happening throughout the duration of the rally.

Matt Mirabile and his band have been wowing audiences throughout the Northeast for nearly 20 years. Inspired by the early roots of Rock and Blues, Mirable and his band provide a fresh spin on classic âAmericanâ music. Mirable rolls into Americade featuring Steve Candlen on drums, Bobbie Vandetta on bass, and Tim Fiato on keys.
There’s a new music festival that’s been announced for the summer season. Wonderland Forest in Lafayette, NY will play host to Grateful Getaway, a series of Grateful Dead tribute acts playing over the course of eleven consecutive days in August.
The initial artist lineup has now been announced with more to follow and there’s various ticketing options for either individual shows or all eleven packaged together.
Grateful Getaway promises to feature a harmonious fusion of sound, nature, and community and begins on August 2 and 3 with two performances by the Sam Grisman Project. The August 3 show will also feature a supporting act from Grateful for Biggie – a band that blends the iconic worlds of the Grateful Dead and Notorious B.I.G.
Pink Talking Fish then takes over Wonderland Forest for a show on Sunday, August 4 and the artist for the Monday, August 5 show has yet to be announced.
Grateful Getaway then powers right along to Tuesday, August 6 with a performance from Steely Dead, another “mash-up” tribute act that lives up to the name. This then sets the stage for two of the more renowned and long lasting Dead cover bands that are playing today.
Melvin Seals & JGB will headline on August 7 and 8 and then pass the baton to Dark Star Orchestra for two shows on Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10. Grateful Getaway will then come to an end on Sunday, August 11 with that night’s headliner also yet to be announced.

The acclaimed Brentano Quartet is scheduled to perform at the Geneva Music Festival on May 30. The string quartet will play a number of classical pieces in the festival’s intimate performance space.
Violinist Geoffrey Herd founded the Geneva Music Festival in 2011, to spread appreciation of classical music in his hometown. Originally intended to be a weekend of chamber performances, it soon evolved into a four-week long event, drawing artists from around the world. The festival has expanded to include jazz, bluegrass, and other contemporary musicians on top of classical performances. The festival is an all-ages event, spreading music engagement everywhere from Geneva’s schools to senior living facilities
2024 has been a busy season for the Geneva Music Festival, already hosting spectacular performances, with more scheduled for the near future. The season kicked off with a sold-out musical mixology night at the Linden Social Club. This night was followed by two “Love and Loathing” concerts, which illustrated the intimacy and passion the festival is known for.
The Brentano Quartet will kick off week two of the festival. The quartet began at the Juilliard School in 1992, and have been legends of modern classical performance since. They have traveled across 5 continents on tours, most recently holding a residency at the Yale School of Music. Despite these travels, this performance marks the quartet’s first visit to Geneva. Violinist Serena Canin was especially excited, stating “Being in nature centers us, connects us to the Earth, and opens our spirits. The way we connect to our music and to each other changes. I can’t wait to be near the lakes, the breeze, the trees and the open sky and see what happens.”
The Brentano Quartet will play three classical pieces at the festival. The quartet will begin with Haydn’s “String Quartet in G Major, Op. 33, No. 5.” They will follow this performance with Shostakovich’s “String Quartet No. 8 in C Minor, Op. 110,” which is a new addition to the quartet’s repertoire. Following an intermission, the quartet will close their set with Mendelssohn’s “String Quartet in D Major, Op. 44, No. 1.”

The Brentano Quartet is only one of many performance during the festival’s second week. On May 31st and June 1st, there will be a performance of “War and Peace,” featuring works by Beethoven, Shostakovich, and Antoine. This is followed by a June 2nd performance by the Kate McGarry and Keith Ganz Ensemble. This show by Grammy-nominated jazz virtuosos is sure to enchant audiences.
The Brentano Quartet will perform Thursday, May 30th, at 7:30pm. The concert will take place at the Gearan Center on the Hobart and William Smith campus.
