  • Boy George and Culture Club ‘Letting It Go Show’ Summer Tour includes Bethel Woods, Jones Beach and Darien Lake Stops

English pop band Boy George and Culture Club will headline a summer 2023 tour, the Letting It Go Show, which will stop at three New York Music venues.

Culture Club will appear at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts on July 22, followed by a performance at Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theatre the next day, and lastly the Darien Lake Amphitheatre on July 29, before finishing the rest of their tour across the country throughout August. Culture Club will be joined by Howard Jones and Berlin for all dates of their tour.

Culture Club was initially formed in London during the New Romantic movement and consists of Boy George, Roy Hay, Mikey Craig, and formerly Jon Moss (drums and percussion.) They released their debut album, Kissing to Be Clever, in 1982 and, with the help of lead singer Boy George, achieved mainstream success in both the U.K. and the U.S. George dressed in flamboyant dresses and wore heavy makeup, creating a disarmingly androgynous appearance that created a sensation on early MTV, earning the band considerable media attention.

During the 1980s, Culture Club released several hit songs, including “Karma Chameleon” which reached number one on both sides of the Atlantic, and “It’s a Miracle” and “Miss Me Blind” which reached the Top 10. The band initially broke up in 1986, before reuniting from 1998-2002 and again in 2011. Their sixth and most recent studio album, Life, was released in 2018, credited as “Boy George and Culture Club.”

Howard Jones, born in Southhampton, Hampshire, England, began his career with his hit single, “New Song,” from his debut album, Human’s Lib, and has had a nearly 40-year career since. His most recent album, Dialogue (2022) is part of a trilogy of albums with Engage (2015) and Transform (2019.) Jones’ hits have been featured in high-profile series and films such as “Stranger Things,” “Breaking Bad,” “Watchmen,” “The Carrie Diaries”, “Superstore” and “Bumblebee.”

New wave band Berlin formed in Los Angeles in 1978, founded by vocalist Terri Nunn, bassist John Crawford, and keyboard player David Diamond. The band’s career began with Information (1980), and they have since won twelve gold and platinum album awards. Berlin’s 1986 hit “Take My Breath Away” significantly appeared in Tom Cruise’s hit film Top Gun (1986) solidifying their ever-lasting place in American pop culture, and winning the award for “Best Original Song” at both the Golden Globe and Academy Awards.

Nunn’s ongoing influence earned her the #11 spot on VH1.com’s “100 Greatest Women in Rock. As an actress, she played leading roles in films including Katie: Portrait of a Centerfold with Kim Basinger, and Thank God It’s Friday with Jeff Goldblum and Debra Winger. Along with comedienne Wendy Liebman, Nunn previously hosted the critically acclaimed radio show Unbound with Terri Nunn.

  • Big Time Rush “Can’t Get Enough Tour” stopping at SPAC, Bethel Woods and Jones Beach this Summer

Big Time Rush have announced their upcoming “Can’t Get Enough Tour” with the band set to take the stage at Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) in Saratoga Springs, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel and Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh during July.

CAN’T GET ENOUGH TOUR big time rush

Big Time Rush became an overnight boy band sensation in November 2009 during the launching of a scripted TV show of the same name on Nickelodeon. The show highlighted the Hollywood escapades of four hockey players from Minnesota after they were chosen to form a pop band. Throughout the show’s success Carlos, Kendall, James, and Logan came to life as a band off the screen releasing three full length albums and performing worldwide. Big Time Rush concluded in July 2013 and after four years of touring as a band, the guys went their separate ways but remained close friends through the years.

The band is also being honored with a celebratory day known as Big Time Rush Day on April 4. Emily Larson, the Mayor of Duluth, Minnesota will make an official pronouncement from the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center making BTR day a national holiday. Duluth holds special significance for Big Time Rush since it is the hometown of the four band members. Duluth will also have a ceremonial street renamed as tribute to Big Time Rush.

In addition to the celebratory day and international tour, BTR announced a highly anticipated new album that will be released on June 9. The album will be Big Time Rush’s first new studio album in a decade. The guys have begun working on the album in 2022 and are thrilled to share it with their Rushers worldwide.

In attempts to bring joy to their fans during quarantine, the members of Big Time Rush gathered to send a message of love and togetherness. Following the announcement was a socially distant performance of an acoustic version of their smash hit, “Worldwide.” The band received 10+ million streams because of hysteria amongst their fans and in the media. Furthermore, four seasons of the television series were added to Netflix in March 2021. BTR ended 2021 with a release of their first single in 8 years, “Call It Like I See It.” They also performed at iHeartRadio Jingle Ball in Philadelphia and had two sold out shows in Chicago and NYC.

The sensational band kicked off 2022 with the launch of their wildly successful Forever Tour. with over 300,000 tickets across North America. They also released new music, with hit singles “Honey,” “Fall,” and “Not Giving You Up.” BTR also performed live at the Latin Kids Choice Awards, iHeart Music Festival, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and the premiere of their first pay-per-view event, “The City Is Ours.” It was a concert film that captured the band’s sold-out show at Madison Square Garden.

BTR fans can purchase tickets to “Can’t Get Enough Tour” here. Additionally, Big Time Rush will offer special sharable content and GIFs that fans can share.

  • Bethel Woods CEO Eric Frances Announces Catbird Music Festival Featuring Lumineers, Trey Anastasio Band, and Tyler Childers

Eric Frances, CEO of Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, has announced that a new summer event, a multi-day festival in August, called Catbird Music Festival, will take place on the original Woodstock ’69 field on August 19 and 20.

    Catbird Music Festival

Frances said that 2022 was the best year in the history of Bethel Woods in terms of attendance and the number of concerts. The planned festival will take place on the original Woodstock ’69 field on the former farm of Max Yasgur in Bethel, located in Sullivan County. The Catbird Music Festival will feature favorite Americana and folk indie music performers including headliners The Lumineers, Tyler Childers, The War on Drugs, and Trey Anastasio Band, alongside Band of Horses, Dispatch, Trampled By Turtles, Charley Crockett, Margo Price, Amos Lee, and many more.

The original festival, labeled “An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace & Music,” attracted an audience of more than 400,000 attendees, and is considered a pivotal moment in popular music history. The festival had 32 acts over the three days, including the Grateful Dead, The Who, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Jimi Hendrix, and more.

Woodstock 94 took place from August 12-14 and can be credited for the growth of many young millennial bands, including Green Day. 500,000 young adults flocked to Winston Farm in Saugerties to take place in this historic remake. Although not comparable to the first one, it was still a rocking time for all those in attendance. A worse rendition of the festival, Woodstock 99, took place at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome. The festival ended in fires and mild rioting as people were sick and tired of the festival’s prices and poor infrastructure.

The last attempt at recreating the iconic festival was Woodstock 50, a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the original festival. There was supposed to be a huge three-day event at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, but due to a series of permit and production issues, venue relocations, and artist cancellations, it was canceled less than a month before the scheduled date. The event’s lineup included artists such as Jay-Z, Miley Cyrus, The Killers, Imagine Dragons, and more. Woodstock took one of the festival’s investors, Dentsu, to court and demanded that they be refunded for the company’s fraudulent actions, quietly settling it after a few years.

The Catbird Music Festival will be held on the original Woodstock ’69 field from August 19-20. Presales begin Wednesday, March 8 at 10 a.m. In addition, for a $10 fee, festivalgoers can explore The Museum at Bethel Woods, a collection of authentic artifacts, interactive media, and even a psychedelic bus dedicated to the 1969 Woodstock Music & Art Fair. Ticket options include 1-Day and 2-Day General Admission, GA+, VIP, and Platinum, as well as Weekend Camping, Weekend Premier Camping, Weekend Glamping, Weekend RV (with/without hook-up) passes, and 1-Day and 2-Day Premium Parking. • The Lumineers Tour Stops include Performances at Catbird Festival, Jones Beach and Darien Lake this Summer

The Lumineers, an alternative folk band, announced their summer 2023 tour dates, including performances at three New York venues. Their first New York performance will take place in Wantagh at Jones Beach Theater on Aug. 18, followed by a performance at the Catbird Festival in Bethel on Aug. 19. The Lumineers’ last New York performance will be at the Darien Lake Amphitheater on Aug. 22.

The two-time Grammy-winning band’s tour is in support of their 2022 fourth album, Brightside. The album reached the top 10 in both the U.S. and Canada, with its title track reaching the number one spot on Billboard’s Alternative National Airplay and Adult Alternative Airplay charts. This feat marked the sixth time the band topped the latter chart in less than 10 years.

The first edition of The Lumineers Brightside tour last year sold more than 750,000 tickets across five continents. The album was recorded throughout the winter and spring of 2021 at Baron’s Sun Mountain Studios in Boiceville, NY. Produced by longtime collaborator Simone Felice and engineered and mixed by David Baron, who also provided input on producing, the nine-song collection sees The Lumineers’ co-founders/co-songwriters Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites performing virtually all of the instrumentation.

Schultz and Fraites are from New Jersey and played at various venues throughout New York in the 2000s. In 2010, they relocated to Denver and met former band members Neyla Pekarek, Maxwell Hughes, and Ben Wahamaki. Their self-titled debut album was released in the spring of 2012. Shortly after, their debut single, “Ho Hey” was released. Before the release of their debut album and single, “Ho Hey” was featured in a December 2011 episode of The CW’s Hart of Dixie.

The Lumineers are continuing their partnership with environmental nonprofit REVERB to reduce the environmental footprint of this year’s tour. The band will help fund a REVERB-vetted climate project that aims to reduce greenhouse gas pollution. Fans are encouraged to join the band’s efforts at every show in the REVERB Action Village.

Artist presale for The Lumineers’ summer tour begins Monday, March 6 at 12 p.m. General on-sale begins Friday, March 10, at 10 a.m. More information is available here.
