Alanis Morissette Announces The Triple Moon Tour, Stops in Wantagh and Bethel

Seven-time GRAMMY Award-winning singer/songwriter Alanis Morissette has announced 31 North America shows for The Triple Moon Tour, with stops in Wantagh and Bethel. This new tour will feature special guest Rock and Roll Hall of Fame icon Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, along with support from Morgan Wade.

Since 1995, Alanis Morissette has been one of the most influential singer-songwriter-musicians in contemporary music. Her deeply expressive music and performances have earned vast critical praise and seven Grammy awards. Morissette’s 1995 debut, “Jagged Little Pill,” was followed by nine more eclectic and acclaimed albums. She has contributed musically to theatrical releases and has acted on the big and small screen.

Outside of entertainment, she is an avid supporter of female empowerment, as well as spiritual, psychological, and physical wellness. In 2001, Alanis was awarded the Global Tolerance Award by the Friends of the United Nations for her contributions to promoting tolerance through the arts. In 2016, Alanis launched Conversation with Alanis Morissette, a monthly podcast that features conversations with a variety of revered authors, doctors, educators, and therapists, covering a wide range of psychosocial topics extending from spirituality to developmentalism to art.

On December 5, 2019, “Jagged Little Pill” the musical made its Broadway debut at the Broadhurst Theatre in New York City. The show was nominated for fifteen Tony Awards and won 2 Tony Awards at the 2021 ceremony. In July of 2020, Alanis released her ninth studio album, Such Pretty Forks In The Road, to rave reviews. In August of 2021, Alanis kicked off her sold out world tour celebrating 25 years of Jagged Little Pill. The tour became the #1 female-fronted tour from 2021 and also one of the Top Worldwide Tours of 2021 selling over 500,000 tickets. Alanis also stars in Fox’s sitcom, “The Great North,” which is set to return for season 4 in 2024.

To celebrate the upcoming holiday season, Morissette released a new Christmas single on November 3. The track “Last Christmas” is a part of an EP featuring previously released Alanis holiday covers of John Lennon & Yoko Ono’s “Happy Xmas (War is Over)”, William Chatterton Dix’s “What child is this?”, and Katherine Kennicott Davis’ “Little Drummer Boy”. All four covers are available on a limited edition red and green 10’ vinyl as well as all streaming platforms.

Joan Jett grew up during a time when rock ‘n’ roll was off limits to girls and women, but as a teenager, she promptly blew the door to the boys’ club right off its hinges. After forming her band the Blackhearts in 1979, with whom Jett has become a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, she has had eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles, including the classics “Bad Reputation,” “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll,” “I Hate Myself For Loving You,” and “Crimson and Clover.”

With a career that has spanned music, film, television, Broadway, and humanitarianism, Joan Jett remains a potent force and inspiration to generations of fans worldwide. As a producer, she has overseen seminal albums by Bikini Kill, and the Germs’ LA punk masterpiece ‘GI.’

Jett and Kenny Laguna (her longtime producer and music partner) co-founded Blackheart Records from the trunk of Kenny’s Cadillac after rejections from no less than 23 labels. 40 years later, Blackheart is a thriving entertainment company producing music, film and television, and continues to champion emerging bands. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts continue to tour the world with headlining shows alongside fellow rock legends like The Who, Green Day, Heart, and Foo Fighters. ‘Bad Reputation,’ a documentary about Jett’s life, premiered to critical acclaim at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. Following up on the bands 2022 release Changeup, their first-ever acoustic album, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts EP Mindsets will be a RSD First vinyl release on 11/24. Lynyrd Skynyrd & ZZ TOP Add Shows in Syracuse, Bethel, Wantagh, and Darien Center

The titans of American classic rock ZZ TOP and Lynyrd Skynyrd have announced 36 additional appearances of their joint co-headlining tour – The Sharp Dressed Simple Man Tour. The tour is set to stop four times in New York, including Syracuse, Bethel, Wantagh, and Darien Center.

ZZ TOP, known for their beards, hotrod cars, spinning guitars, and that magic keychain, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, known for their critically acclaimed album Pronounced Lĕh-‘nérd ‘Skin-‘nérd, have put their musical talents together for an unforgettable show performing across the United States, now with even more dates, so you have no excuse to miss it.

It was in 1969 Houston when ZZ TOP coalesced from the core of two rival bands, Billy Gibbons’ Moving Sidewalks and Frank Beard and Dusty Hill’s American Blues. ZZ Top‘s 1973 album release, Tres Hombres, catapulted them to national attention with the hit “La Grange,” which is still one of the band’s signature pieces today. Eliminator, their 1983 album was something of a paradigm shift for ZZ TOP.

Their blues roots skew was intact but their high-tech-age trappings were added to the mix that soon found a visual outlet with such tracks as “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Legs” on the nascent MTV. It was one of the record industry’s first albums to have been certified Diamond, far beyond Gold and Platinum, a reflection of sales exceeding ten million units.

As a touring outfit, they have performed before millions of fans over four continents and have been the subject of their own Grammy-nominated documentary titled That Little Ol’ Band From Texas. The band’s line-up of the bearded Gibbons and Hill and Beard, who ironically is clean-shaven, remained intact for more than 50 years. When Dusty temporarily departed the tour in the summer of 2021, Elwood Francis entered the picture accepting the directive from Dusty to be the perfect choice to stand in on the bass guitar and now handles the low-end duties for the band for the present as well as into the future.

The elements that keep ZZ TOP fresh can be summed up in the three words of the band’s internal mantra: “Tone, Taste, and Tenacity.” As genuine roots performers, they have few peers. Their influences are both the originators of the form – Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Jimmy Reed, et al – as well as the British blues rocker Jimi Hendrix who emerged generations before ZZ’s ascendance.

They have sold hundreds of millions of records over the course of their career, have been officially designated as Heroes of The State of Texas, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (by Keith Richards, no less), and have been referenced in countless cartoons and sitcoms. They are true rock icons and, against all odds, they’re really just doing what they’ve always done.

As Lynyrd Skynyrd celebrates the 50 anniversary of the band’s critically acclaimed debut album Pronounced ‘Lĕh-‘nérd ‘Skin-‘nérd’, they resonate as deeply with their multi-generational fan base today as when they first emerged out of Jacksonville, Florida in 1973.

Few ensembles have had a deep impact in creating a lifestyle as Skynyrd has. The band travels forward with a primary mission of celebrating a legacy that honors all who have had a resonating contribution to the lives of hundreds of millions of fans globally. Catbird Takes Flight at Bethel Woods

54 years ago, Max Yasger leased out a farm field he owned for what would turn out to be one of, if not, the most noted music festivals in history. The Catbird Music Festival took to these hollowed grounds over August 19-20, in search of the spirit that is Woodstock.

The name of the festival was inspired by the Catbird used in the original 1969 festival artwork. This being 2023 tie die, long hair, and bare footing could be seen co-joined with cell phones, microchipped wrist bands, and VIP and Platinum packages. No matter your status, the vibe from those attending made it impossible to distinguish 2023 from 1969.

Glamping

Camping was allowed at Bethel Woods, the first time since M ountain Jam 2019. You had your options of car camping, RV camping, or glamping in canvas tents offering either a twin or a queen bed. Throughout the grounds young and old, couples, groups and families intermingled as one.

Over the course of two the days (August 19 – 20, 2023) at the Bethel Woods Center for the Art s, 23 musical acts performed on two stages. The scheduling of sets enabled people to stroll from stage to stage and not have to choose which performers to listen to.

Day 1 had was something for everyone: Trampled by Turtles, J ames Bay, 49 Winchester and Margo Price to name a few. Throw in Band of Horses along with headliners T he Lumineers and you could not go wrong.

Women took a prominent role in the festival with Adia Vicoria and Allison Russell closing out the Gala Music stage on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Day 2 of Catbird included rising jam band Eggy and a veteran jam band Trey Anastasio band. The day also featured T yler Childs as the headliner as well as Dispatch, Amos Lee, Charley Crocket t and more.

Eggy played a funky and fun set to start off this full day of music. The Soul Rebels brought their authentic New Orleans, horns rich sound to Bethel. Dispatch played a reggae filled, groovy set which included a nod to the good ol Grateful Dead with a “Friend of the Devil” cover.

Trey Anastasio Band played a set filled with TAB and Phish classics including Moma Dance, About to Run, Wolfman’s Brother, and a guitar raising, feedback chasing First Tube to close out their set.

Previous attempts to emulate the original Woodstock Music and Arts Festival have not measured up. The Catbird Music Festival seems to have found the sweet spot. Let’s hope this bird will migrate back to the Hudson Valley in 2024 and build another nest of peace, love and music.

Big Time Rush Takes the Stage at Bethel Woods 11 Years Later

This past Friday, July 7, the iconic Big Time Rush band from the early 2010s played an incredible show at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. Playing almost eleven years earlier at the same venue, many superfans flocked back to see them—this time all grown up. Concertgoers sported sparkly attire, OG Big Time Rush t-shirts, and posters stating their love for their favorite band member as they waited eagerly in anticipation for their Can’t Get Enough tour.

Big Time Rush, consisting of members Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Logan Henderson, and Carlos PenaVega, originally began as a TV show for the Nickelodeon channel. They formed in 2009 and garnered a cult audience of superfans, continuing their show with four seasons until their final episode in 2013. The band took a break afterward to allow each member to work on his solo career but recently regrouped in 2021. Big Time Rush has been touring since, and is now at the beginning of their Can’t Get Enough tour, with twenty-five shows left. They previously played at Saratoga Performing Arts Center and are scheduled to play at Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater.

With the concert being delayed for almost two hours due to thunder, there was an almost-certain chance that the show was going to be canceled. Although openers MAX and JAX could not take the stage, the boy band made sure that the show went on. Fans were ecstatic. The boys came out on a large platform with bright lights shining behind them to create a silhouette of their bodies. The screams that followed were absolutely deafening and continued that way for the rest of their set. During their song “All Over Again,” the members pointed to different parts of the crowd whilst singing the lyrics “To the left, left, left/On the right, right, right/To the back, back, back/On the side, side, side.” Confetti shot out of cannons during the performance of “Confetti Falling,” and a video montage of the boy band played on the large screen during their intermission song, “I Just Want To (Party All the Time).” At one point in the show, each member chose a female fan from the audience to personally serenade on stage.

During the encore, the band left for a good two to three minutes before re-entering to perform “Windows Down,” their most popular song “Boyfriend,” and “Til I Forget About You.” At the beginning of the encore, the members ran off the stage and into the seated sections to greet some of the fans that were farther away from the stage. Big Time Rush promised that they would definitely be back at Bethel Woods to play more shows in the future.

In Focus: Tears for Fears Rock Out at Bethel Woods

This past Wednesday, July 5, the iconic 80s band Tears for Fears took the stage at Bethel Woods for a night of new-wave nostalgia. The English band, consisting of Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith, with Lauren Evans supporting the two on vocals, put on a fantastic show for their The Tipping Point Part II tour.

Tears for Fears originated in Bath, UK in 1981 and disbanded for a nine-year-long period in 1991. After reuniting in 2000, the two released albums Everybody Loves a Happy Ending, The Hurting, and their most recent release, The Tipping Point. Tears for Fears recently played a show at Madison Square Garden and Saratoga Performing Arts Center. With nineteen dates left in the North American / European leg of their tour, the duo will be busy playing shows until late November.

Orzabel and Smith have been playing shows virtually their whole lives. The two know exactly how to work for a crowd, as thousands of fans in middle age and older stood up in their seats to get a good view of the stage. Concertgoers danced, jumped, swayed, and clapped along to iconic songs like “Shout,” “Head Over Heels,” and their most popular track, “Everybody Wants to Rule the World.” After playing “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” Orzabel paused for a moment and said, “This song gets a million streams every day, which would be remarkable if they weren’t all from us.” A sustained laugh from the crowd. During their performance of “Mad World,” fans screamed in excitement as the two scaled the stage, singing and dancing as colorful lights flashed about.

The end of the show was exciting yet bittersweet, as the two closed the night with a powerful performance of “Change” and “Shout.” Although they do not have any more scheduled tour dates in New York State, the two are sure to come back again as they have in the past.

Johnny Depp Injures Ankle, Hollywood Vampires Postpone Bethel Woods Date

Johnny Depp has suffered a “painful ankle injury,” the Hollywood Vampires have announced, just a day before they were set to begin their summer tour. Dates set for this week are rescheduled for July, including the Bethel Woods date now moved to July 30.

The Hollywood Vampires is comprised of Johnny Depp, Alice Cooper, and Aerosmith member Joe Perry, as well as Tommy Henriksen. The band originally formed in 2012 and announced in 2022, just days after Depp won his defamation lawsuit against ew-wide Amber Heard, that they would be reuniting for a 2023 tour.

In June 2022, a jury found that Heard had defamed Depp on all three counts and awarded him $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. Since then, Depp has remained largely sidelined from Hollywood productions due to the abuse allegations against him. He was forced to exit his role in the Harry Potter spinoff series Fantastic Beasts in 2020 but continues to do well, playing shows with Jeff Beck and signing a $20 million-plus deal with fashion brand Dior.

In a statement shared by the band, they said: “Johnny has sustained a painful injury to his ankle following his recent appearances and has been advised by his doctor not to travel.” They went on to say that “he is devastated by this turn of events but looks forward to resting up so all four Vampires can bring their absolute best to the tour in Europe.”

All tickets will be honored for the new dates, which include July 28 at the Wang Theatre Boch Center in Boston, July 29 at the SNHU Arena in Manchester, NH, and July 30 at the Bethel Woods Center For The Arts in Bethel. Bethel Woods Center for the Arts 2023 Summer Lineup

The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts will be showcasing a wide array of musical talent this summer starting on June 1, 2023, with a lineup that covers all genres of music. The large amphitheater houses 15,000 people and will welcome guests from all over to enjoy concerts and shows into September.

Hollywood Vampires ft. Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, & Joe Perry – June 1, 8:00 PM

American rock supergroup, the Hollywood Vampires will kick off the summer on June 1st with Hollywood star Johnny Depp, American rock singer Alice Cooper, and Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry.

James Taylor & His All Star Band – Summer 2023 Tour – June 29, 7:30 PM

Six-time Grammy award winner, James Taylor will make an appearance at Bethel with his All Star Band. This will be his first of two NY stops on his summer 2023 tour.

Robert Plant & Alison Krauss with special guest JD McPherson – Raising The Roof Tour – July 1, 8:00 PM

Best known as the lead singer and lyricist of Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant will take the stage with bluegrass-country singer Alison Krauss once again for their second Raising The Roof Tour. The team up will feature special guest JD McPherson, singer-songwriter from Broken Arrow.

Steve Miller Band with special guest Joe Satriani – July 2, 7:30 PM

American rock band, Steve Miller Band are staples of classic rock with various 70s hits including “Joker” and “Fly Like an Eagle.” They will be accompanied by rock guitarist, composer, and songwriter, Joe Satriani.

Shania Twain with special guest Pricilla Block – Queen of Me Tour – July 3, 7:30 PM

Canadian singer-songwriter, Shania Twain is one of the best-selling female artists of all time with over 100 million records sold. She will be joined on stage by American country singer Pricilla Block.

Tears for Fears with special guest Cold War Kids – The Turning Point Part II Tour – July 5, 7:30 PM

Infamous 80s pop/rock band, Tears for Fears, will take the stage with the American indie rock band Cold War Kids for their ‘The Tipping Point Part II’ tour. The tour is in support of their newest album The Turning Point released last year- their first full-length record in 17 years.

Chris Stapleton with special guests Marty Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives & Allen Stone – All American Road Show – July 6, 7:00 PM

Grammy award winning country artist, Chris Stapleton will be visiting Bethel in July for his All American Road Show Tour. The show will open with American country and bluegrass artist Marty Stuart and R&B/soul artist Allen Stone.

Big Time Rush with special guests MAX & Jax – Can’t Get Enough Tour – July 7, 7:00 PM

The four member boy band, Big Time Rush, originally got their start on Nickelodeon but resumed live performances back in 2021. They are now setting out on their Can’t Get Enough Tour for the summer of 2023 with fellow ex-Nickelodeon star MAX and American Idol veteran, Jax.

Counting Crows with special guest Dashboard Confessional – Banshee Season Tour – July 9, 7:30 PM

Counting Crows, the American rock band from San Fransisco was formed in 1991 and will be setting out on tour with Dashboard Confessional. Their performance at Bethel will be their 15th stop on their 56 date tour with five locations in NY.

Jason Aldean with special guests Mitchell Tenpenny, Corey Kent, & DeeJay Silver – Highway Desperado Tour – July 14, 7:30 PM

The American country singer, Jason Aldean, will be kicking off his Highway Desperados Tour at Bethel on the 14th of July. The award-winning artist along with his three opening acts will be playing 41 cities in total spanning all across the United States.

Catbird Music Festival featuring The Lumineers, Tyler Childers, & more – August 19/20, 12:00 PM

Making its debut run, the Catbird Music Festival will span two days in August at the Bethel stage. The festival will bring together seasoned as well as fresh talent of American and folk indie music including The Lumineers, Tyler Childers, and James Bay.

Live Nation Launches Festival Weekend: $99 One-Day Tickets, Includes Gov Ball, Catbird, And More

For the first time ever, Live Nation is expanding its annual Concert Week promotion to include festivals. Festival Weekend brings fans an unbeatable deal: $99 all-in 1-day tickets to a variety of 2023 festivals, including Gov. Ball, Catbird, and more.

Festival Weekend features over a dozen festivals across North America, with a variety of genres, for example, country rock, hip hop, afrobeat, and more. There is a limited amount of $99 all-in 1-day tickets available for purchase as part of Concert Week’s Festival Weekend, including Gov Ball in New York City (June 9-11) and Catbird Music Festival in Bethel (Aug. 19-20).

Tickets will be available starting Friday, May 19 at 10 a.m. ET through Monday, May 22 at 11:59 p.m. local time, or while inventory lasts. Second Annual Sullivan County Music Festival to Showcase Local Talent

The second annual Sullivan County Music Festival, presented by the Hurleyville Performing Arts Centre (HPAC) will be held on Sunday, June 4, from 12 pm to 8 pm. The event will be held on the lawn of Tango Café and Fireman’s Park, Main Street, Hurleyville.

Sullivan County Music Festival is a free community event, with a suggested donation of $10 to support local musicians and vendors. A donation of $10 will get you three complimentary raffle tickets for a chance to win exciting door prizes. Raffle announcements will occur just before the final performance at 7:10 pm.

This year’s lineup includes 15 performances, all showcasing the incredible diversity of local talent in the the Southern Catskills. Sullivan County Music Festival will also highlight 15 non-profit organizations doing remarkable work within Sullivan County. Attendees can enjoy original music all day, along with an array of vendors, raffles, and door prizes generously provided by local businesses.

This festival provides a vital platform for the incredible diversity of talent we have right here in our region. It’s an honor to celebrate and support our local musicians, vendors, and non-profit organizations that contribute so much to our community.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair to relax on the grass in front of Tango Café. Several local businesses, including The Hurleyville General Store, Tango Café, Pickled Owl, La Salumina, and Casa Mia, will offer a variety of delicious food options. Additionally, door prizes and a 50/50 raffle will give guests the opportunity to win cash and prizes from local restaurants, vendors, and businesses.

The Sullivan County Music Festival is a family-friendly event, and will include a bouncy house and face painter. Ample parking is available in two large municipal lots on Main Street and Railroad Avenue in Hurleyville. The venue is wheelchair accessible, with restrooms available in HPAC and Tango Café.

WJFF Radio Catskill is the official local media sponsor, while NYS Music serves as the official NY state media sponsor. The Sullivan County Music Festival is made possible in part by the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. Artist fees for the festival are supported in part by STEAM Fund’s Mission One Gig At A Time (MOGAAT). Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats Announce World Tour with Three Stops at New York Music Venues

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats begin their world tour at the end of April, which includes three performances at New York music venues.

The band will have two consecutive New York shows, first on July 29 at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts followed by the Darien Lake Amphitheater on July 30, and their third performance in the empire state will be on Sept. 20 at the MegaCorp Pavilion in Newport. The performances follow the release of the band’s latest EP, What If I, due for release June 2.

The band is also slated to appear at Brandi Carlile’s Mothership Weekend, Willie Nelson’s 90th Birthday Celebration, and Outlaw Music Festival with Willie Nelson & Family. See below for full tour routing.

Rateliff grew up in Missouri and his career spans more than two decades. His music career began with his first band, Born in the Flood, followed by Nathaniel Rateliff & the Wheel, which only released one album in 2007, after which he released three solo albums: In Memory of Loss (2010), Falling Faster Than You Can Run (2013) and And It’s Still Alright (2020.) The Night Sweats released their self-titled debut album in 2015, and have released a total of three albums, most recently 2021’s The Future.

The title track of What If I will have audiences anxious and ready to hear more music by The Night Sweats. The track’s lyrics speak to audiences at a crossroads in their lives, wondering “what if.” What if I’m taking too long? What if I just quit tomorrow? Listen to the track here.

What If I will feature four previously unreleased songs recorded during The Future sessions as well as a newly written and recorded track called “Buy My Round.” All songs on What If I were produced by Bradley Cook (Bon Iver, Kevin Morby, The War on Drugs) and R.M.B.—the production trio of Rateliff, Meese, and James Barone (Beach House). In addition, the track “Slow Pace of Time” features The Preservation Hall Jazz Band’s leader and clarinetist, Charlie Gabriel.
