  • The Linda’s ‘Big Music Fall’ Kicks off 4 months of Great Music and Unique Artists

    The Linda’s Performing Arts Studio in Albany will host a “Big Music Fall,” with an outstanding trio of shows starting things off on September 8.

    The first of three shows kicks off with Scott Tournet, of Electric Voodoo and Grace & the Nocturnal’s fame, on September 8. Known for his deep blues and vintage rock n’ roll, Scott has been frontman and founder of both Electric Voodoo and Grace & the Nocturnals, and written and recorded with Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys), Willie Nelson, T Bone Burnett, Kenny Chesney, Alison Krauss, Mark Batson (Dr. Dre, Alicia Keys, Eminem) and others. He has performed with The Allman Brothers, members of The Grateful Dead and Phish, Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) and many others.

    Another weekend highlight includes bluegrass dynamos ‘The Barefoot Movement’ performing on Sunday, September 10. The progressive acoustic band originated in 2011, having since released three studio albums, two EP’s, a live album, holiday album and a covers collection. The Barefoot Movement began as an ensemble of four and naturally, perform barefoot. They musically are characterized around folk and country and are one of the most promising bands in the bluegrass scene.

    Last but definitely not least is The Misty Blues performing on September 11 an Odessa Tribute, which has been a passion project brewing since the mid 1990’s for lead singer Gina Coleman. The Misty Blues bring a mix of African American folk music with a taste of blues, gospel, soul and funk the band based out of Berkshire County, Massachusetts.

  • The Illusion to be Inducted Into Long Island Music Hall of Fame

    The Illusion, one of the original bands that helped create the famed “Long Island sound,” has announced it will be inducted into the Long Island Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF).

    Set to take place on Oct. 7 starting at 7 p.m., Illusion band members John Vinci, Mike Maniscalco, Rich Cerniglia, Chuck Alder, and Mike Ricciardella will be inducted into the history and family of Long Island’s musicians & entertainers. The group will also perform together publicly for the first time in 51 years! Founded in 2004, the Long Island Music Hall of Fame is dedicated to the idea that Long Island’s musical and entertainment heritage is an important resource to be celebrated and preserved for future generations.

    During a time when it was considered inconceivable for record executives (and concert promoters alike) to give a band from Long Island the time of day, The Illusion came onto the scene. They were a force to be reckoned with, wowing crowds with crazy stage shows, custom-made clothes, five-part harmonies, and untouchable musicianship.

    In time, The Illusion would get the attention of hit writing producer Jeff Barry, who signed them to his label Steed Records and penned their first hit “Did You See Her Eyes?” which shot up the charts reaching number one in 15 cities. The Illusion would go on to release a total of three albums for Barry’s label, with the first selling over 200,000 copies.

    The Illusion would go on to share the stage with such acts as Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Allman Brothers Band, Chicago, The Temptations, Richie Havens, Alice Cooper, and countless others. Acts and artists like Kiss, Aerosmith, The New York Dolls, and Billy Joel, not only followed the Illusion but would go on to cite the band as one of their major influences.

    The Illusion induction is set to take place Saturday, Oct. 7 starting at 7 p.m. at LIMEHOF’s Stony Brook Museum. This event is open to the public with limited tickets available for purchase.

  • The Park Theater Foundation Announces September Events

    The Park Theater Foundation has announced its lineup of events for September, which includes Sydney Worthley, Big Eyed Phish, a local showcase of more Capital Region artists, and even a comedy night.

    The Park Theater was the first movie theater in Glens Falls upon its opening in 1911. In 1937 the theater was converted into a printing plant for the Glens Falls Post, and it was changed back to a performing arts center in 1984. After renovations in 2014, it reopened as a theater in 2018. The venue’s mission statement is that it would like to enhance the community and quality of life in Glens Falls by providing a venue for affordable entertainment and educational opportunities.

    Sept. 2-“Rewind At The Park”

    The Park Theater Foundation presents “Rewind At The Park” featuring Big Eyed Phish (The Dave Matthews Tribute Band). Based out of Rochester, they are the only touring full eight-piece Dave Matthews Band Tribute in the country. Sing along to all your favorites and experience an unforgettable evening of music! Tickets are $20, and the day of the show is $25, with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. 

    Sept. 14-“Live & Local: Songwriter’s Showcase”

    The Park Theater Foundation presents “Live & Local: Songwriters’ Showcase” – an intimate evening featuring some of the Capital Region’s favorite songwriters. Hosted by performer, producer, and engineer, Josh Morris, these artist-in-the-round performances allow audiences to hear local musicians’ songs and the stories behind them. This month’s artists include Josh Morris, Luke Pascarella, J. Lee White & Caitlin Barker. Tickets are $10, with day of the show tickets at $15. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

    Sept. 21-“Third Thursday Jazz”

    Experience some of the best jazz music in the Capital Region with “Third Thursday Jazz” with The Matt Niedbalski Trio featuring Adam Siegel (saxophonist) and Jason Emmond (bass). Tickets are $10, with doors opening at 7 p.m.

    Sept. 27-Listening Party

    The Park Theater Foundation hosts the Rochmon Record Club for a series of listening parties. Hosted by Chuck Vosganian, this listening party will focus on David Bowie’s The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (1972). Tickets are $12, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

    Sept. 29- “Comedy After Dark”

    The Park Theater Foundation presents ‘Comedy After Dark’ featuring highly-acclaimed New York-based comedian, Gabe Mollica. He is bringing his hit Off-Broadway comedy show to the Arts & Entertainment Gateway of the Adirondacks for the first time. Directed by Greg Walloch (Hasan Minhaj’s Homecoming King), Gabe Mollica’s Solo explores male friendship in his 30s. Tickets are $22, with day of the show being $25. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

    Sept. 30-“The Park Presents”

    The Park Theater Foundation presents “The Park Presents” featuring alt-Americana artist, Caleb Caudle, with special guest, Sydney Worthley, live on Sept. 30, 2023. Heavily driven by songwriting, Caleb Caudle blurs the lines of folk, roots, country, and bluegrass. He has made appearances at Merlefest, Cayamo Cruise, Luck Reunion, and Mountain Stage. Sydney Worthley is an indie pop artist from Albany. Tickets are $15, with the day of the show being $20. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

  • Pink Talking Fish Announce December 2023 Tour with Giant Country Horns on Select Dates 

    Pink Talking Fish has mapped out the rest of 2023 with an extensive December tour, that brings the band from the east coast, with shows in Port Chester and Buffalo, before heading west with a New Years run in Denver. A pair of shows in December will also feature the legendary Giant Country Horns for a pair of shows with Pink Talking Fish.

    After a run of shows in September and October, Pink Talking Fish will kick off December by bringing Phish’s horn section “The Giant Country Horns” out for 2 shows in Burlington VT and Keene NH. The Keene show is at The Colonial Theatre which is home to one of the more famous performances during the 1991 Phish Tour with The Giant Country Horns and became a Live Phish release.

    A Midwest run starts in Buffalo at Buffalo Iron Works on December 13, and will then move through Ohio and end in Chicago IL, and following a holiday break, Pink Talking Fish will close out the year with a two-show run in Denver, CO on 12/30 and 12/31.

  • Montclair Jazz Festival Announces 2023 Downtown Jamboree Lineup

    The 14th annual Montclair Jazz Festival, produced by the acclaimed Jazz House Kids, has announced the lineup for this year’s Downtown Jamboree, held on September 9th. This year, headliners include Regina Carter, Antibalas, Steve Turre, Melanie Charles, Person to Person with Eric Person and Houston Person, Christian McBride, the festival’s music director and curator, as well as many others.

    The Montclair Jazz Festival is one of the most popular jazz events in the greater NYC area that is free to the public. In addition, it is one of the largest jazz festivals in the country. With music directed and curated by Grammy-winner Christian McBride, it comes on the heels of McBride’s famed Newport Jazz Festival, where he serves as artistic director.

    What is so unique about the Montclair Jazz Fesival’s downtown takeover is that it represents the coming together of Jazz House Kids’ full mission to provide access, learning, career development and community building through the American artform of jazz. Its treasured practitioners provide inspired mentorship for our emerging talent throughout the year and will create a joyous afternoon with incredible performances for thousands of fans.

    This year’s Montclair Jazz Festival returned to downtown Montclair, NJ this summer with two Soundcheck Series concerts and jam sessions, community events, and two marquee Saturdays with live music on multiple stages. One of the hallmarks of the festival will be the Jazz House alumni and peer performance on the Jazz Cruise Alumni Stage @ Midtown. The performance will feature some of the nation’s top talent who trained at the Jazz House, the country’s foremost jazz education organization.

    It’s going to be yet another fabulous year at the Montclair Jazz Festival with such great artists, both up and coming and legendary, joining us. Regina Carter, Antibalas, Steve Turre, Endea Owens, our Jazz House Collective and so many more, promise to make this year another hit.

  • Borderland Festival Returns for 5th Year, Lineup Announced

    Borderland Festival announces it will be returning for its 5th year to Knox Farm State Park, just 15 minutes from downtown Buffalo, featuring many well-known and legendary acts from Sept. 15-17.

    Borderland Festival is one of the region’s most popular music and art festivals, taking place at Knox State Farm. The three-day experience will host more than 20 bands on two stages from Sept. 15-17. Festival goers can expect a diverse mix of music spanning the genres of rock, country, and Americana, along with performances from local musicians. Aside from the music, there will be a range of artisans, axe throwing, Kidsland, local chefs and food trucks, and alcohol from local breweries.

    The 2023 lineup features Trey Anastasio with Classic TAB from the legendary jam band Phish on Saturday night. Anastasio is known as the co-founder of the band and the lead guitarist, receiving several Grammy nominations for his work and a Tony nomination for “Best Original Score” in 2013 for writing the music to Hands on a Hardbody. For the first time, the festival will host a Friday night headliner with jam band Goose, a four-piece indie groove band from Norwalk, Connecticut. The band is made up of members Peter Anspach, Jeff Arevalo, Ben Atkind, Rick Mitarotonda, and Trevor Weekz, recently closing out five nights at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester.

    One of Buffalo’s own favorite bands, moe. will also be closing out the weekend for a sunset performance on Sunday, Sept. 17. The band has had a lot of success and longevity since its creation due to its engaged fanbase, aka the fa.moe.ly which has led them to do headline tours, international festival sets, music-themed cruises, and sold-out shows alongside countless household-name artists. The artist lineup also includes Dawes, The Infamous Stringdusters, Sammy Rae & Friends, Neal Francis, Mighty Poplar, The 502s, Krasno/Moore Project, and a full weekend of local bands.

    Tickets are on sale now, featuring three-day weekend passes, single-day “anyday” tickets, three-day VIP passes are sold out, camping passes, and more. Kids ten and under are free if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

  • Travis Scott Announces Barclays and MSG Shows on Upcoming Circus MaximusTour

    Travis Scott has announced his upcoming tour ‘Circus Maximus’ for recent release UTOPIA, featuring three shows in New York, two at New York’s Barclays Center on December 18 and 19, and at Madison Square Garden on December 21.

    UTOPIA has been recorded as one of the biggest hip-hop releases in 2023, as Travis Scott proved himself once again as a songwriter, producer and performer and continues to create a seamless production throughout his music. The album has become number one on Billboard Top 200, with over 1.5 billion streams globally.

    Travis has had a huge influence on the hip-hop and rap community, creating huge commercial success for himself and often characterized as “ambient”. He redefines the modern music boundaries, while indulging an immersive experience for his listeners. UTOPIA is recognized to be a game changer for Scott’s career while seamlessly creating a narrative throughout his songs that bring the fans wanting more.

    In addition to the tour, Travis plans to donate $2 per ticket sold towards the Cactus Jack Foundation, which supports scholarship programs and fulfills college education expenses.     What is the Best Show Ever? The answer to that is complicated, and varies from person to person. But comedian Cam Herdt brings that question to the forefront in his new podcast, ‘Best Show Ever.’

    ‘Best Show Ever’ invites guests to talk about concert-going careers, their first concerts, worst concerts, honorable mentions and the best show the guest ever saw, hitting on the things that made that show the best. This is more than a setlist breakdown, and instead a look into an epic evening through the stories these guests bring with them.

    Comedian Cam Herdt loves talking about shows, specifically, the best shows ever. Listen as he invites special guests, musicians and music journalists to reminisce about their concert-going careers and share untold stories from the history of seeing live music.

  • Twiddle Announces Live Album “The A-List”, a Live Compilation from April 2022-March 2023

    Vermont-based jam quartet Twiddle have announced The A-List: A Live Compilation of Music from April 2022-March 2023, releasing September 8th, their first live record since 2019’s Unplugged in Burlington.

    Produced by Adrian Tramontano, mastered by Dave DeCristo, and recorded and mixed by Sam Johnson, the 24 live cuts were hand-picked by the band from some of their favorite shows over the past year, adding up to more than 4.5 hours of music from 14 different shows.

    The first single from the record is now available on all streaming services – a beautifully extended “Jamflowman” from their 10/26/22 show at The Underground in Charlotte, NC.

    The “Jamflowman” from Charlotte in October of last year was one of those moments of musical synchronicity that we aim for in our improv. We hope you dig this as the first cut from the A-List, and can’t wait for you all to hear the full thing in a few weeks!

    Buffalo native Chelsea O’Donnell takes the stage at Funk ’n Waffles under her touring moniker Stress Dolls on Saturday, September 2.  The alt/pop/rock artist has drawn comparisons to artists such as Lzzy Hale, Courtney Love, Fiona Apple, with one reviewer describing her sound as “Joni Mitchell meets Nirvana..     September 7, Thursday at Song & Dance

    New Jersey hardcore rockers Thursday make their long awaited return to Central New York with a performance at Song & Dance on September 7.  The band have close ties to Central New York, having performed at the area’s famous Hellfest music festival in 2001 and 2003.  The band are touring in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their album War All the Time. Gel, Pinkshift, and Vinnie Caruana open the show.

    September 10, Kat Wright at 443 Social Club

    Rochester born singer-songwriter Kat Wright returns to Syracuse with a set at the intimate 443 Social Club on September 10.   Wright, with her dynamic vocal range powerful stage presence, which she blends between styles of soul and rock ’n roll, has drawn comparisons to performers such as Amy Winehouse and Bonnie Raitt.  She boasts an impressive touring resume, proving previous support to acts such as Grace Potter, Kacey Musgrave, and the Wood Brothers, and has also preformed at the Syracuse Jazz Festival, and the Peach Music Festival (Scranton, PA).  

    Music starts at 6pm with tickets starting at $23.

    September 22 – September 23, Tumble Down at Wonderland Forest

    Take a short drive down Interstate 81 to Lafayette and you will find the enchanted concert grounds of Wonderland Forest.  These picturesque grounds will be the home of jam-rock band Twiddle and their two day music festival, Tumble Down.  The line up boasts an impressive undercard, with Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Andy Frisco + the U.N., Dopapod, Mihali, The Breakfast, Baked Shrimp, and Mike Powell also performing.  Twiddle will perform four sets over the two nights.

    Weekend tickets start at $150 with camping and VIP packages available

    September 30, Dropkick Murphys at Oncenter War Memorial

    Celtic punk rockers Dropkick Murphys return to Syracuse for a set at the Oncenter War Memorial on September 30.   Known for their high energy live performances, the band have amassed a large and passionate following.   They have an impressive 12 studio albums,  and are currently touring in support of their 2023 release Okemah Rising.   The Interrupters and Jesse Ahern open the show.

    Tickets start at $45 with music starting at 7pm.
