In 1990, Al Schnier, Chuck Garvey, and Rob Derhak came together at the University of Buffalo, and now over three decades later, moe. continues to deliver its hefty, genre-fusing discography along with Jim Loughlin, Vinnie Amico, and Nate Wilson.

Performing at some of the biggest festivals of all time, Woodstock 1999, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and many others, the band is no stranger to large crowds and bringing immense energy to venues across the world, and will now continue to do so in 16 cities this Fall.
“The reality is, you spent thirty years with people doing what you do, you get better. There’s no ifs, ands or buts about it. Your ears get more trained, your playing gets better and better, your ability to communicate with each other better.”
They’ve also utilized their creativity to promote and headline multiple festivals of their own, including snoe.down and moe.down.
Kicking off at Rams Head Live in Baltimore, MD on Thursday, September 14th, moe. will only make one stop in New York on Sunday, September 17th at the Borderlands Music Fest in East Aurora.

The cover for Benny Benack III’s June 30 album “Third Time’s The Charm.”
Benack’s rendition of “Gary, Indiana” from The Music Man holds a special place in his heart, with it being the first song he would ever perform as a professional. The performance truly comes full circle with the release of his new music video corresponding to the cover.
The significance of the classic song can also be tied back to his younger years and the musical bond with his mother when learning how to sing/perform.
“My mom played piano with me, and I would be like 8 years old, walking out onstage in the middle of my dad’s concert. My mom would hold my hand, and we’d go out and I’d sing ‘Gary, Indiana.’”
– Benny Benack III
An Emmy-nominated jazz musician, Benack comes from a long line of notable jazz and bandleader talents that started in Pittsburgh, PA.
Between His grandfather Benny Benack Sr., a trumpeter/bandleader, father Benny Benack Jr., a saxophonist/clarinetist, and mother Claudia Benack, a voice professor at Carnegie Mellon University, the family piles on the talent.

After “Favorite Song” caught fire globally, becoming the Syracuse rapper’s highest charting single to date, Toosii builds off this excitement from his recent success, dropping his first studio album NAUJOUR on June 2.
Gaining traction in the industry in 2020 with his debut project Poetic Pain, Toosii’s melodic, raspy voice matched with rap and R&B instrumentals has made him a unique music industry member. Tracks “Sapiosexual,” “Love Cycle,” and others launched Poetic Pain to peak at number 14 on the Billboard 100, a glimpse into his skill set moving forward.
Late 2020 and early 2021 saw him generate more widespread buzz in Thank You For Believing where Toosii collaborated with DaBaby, Latto, and Key Glock, displaying his versatility by bouncing between genres. The overall hype around this project and past performances earned him a spot on the 2021 XXL Freshman List, and from there his career continued to explode.
Fast forward to 2023, Toosii’s first full-length studio album as a member of Capitol Records, NAUJOUR, hypnotizes his audience by evolving his R&B skills since his 2022 EP Boy’s Don’t Cry: Men Do.
In addition to his advanced R&B knowledge, he provides unique sample loops similar to earlier projects but acts as the foundation for more personal storytelling lyricism concerning his past.
Album Rollout and Overview
Coming in at 19 tracks, NAUJOUR‘s announcement came on May 5, 2023, via the rapper’s Instagram, while also continuously hinting at the album’s release in early 2023 through his lead singles and remixes of “Favorite Song.” Khalid and Future both appear in their own versions of the track, with Future’s being known as the “Toxic Version.”
Originally appearing on the aforementioned Boy’s Don’t Cry: Men Do before NAUJOUR, “Love Is…” utilizes a sample from Julia Michaels’ “Love Is Weird” for the project’s lead single. A vulnerable, heartbreaking song, it sticks out in Toosii’s discography as one of his more personal performances.
From track to track, we trek across his rise to stardom and come up in the highly competitive music industry, not skipping on any of the tough feats he had to endure from his childhood to the present day.
Featuring only 21 Savage, Wallo 267, Future, and Khalid, the project is a prime look into Toosii’s solo abilities and one-of-a-kind vocals that have driven him to the top of the R&B pyramid.
Standout Tracks
“Rule Number 1” kickstarts the project on a family-oriented note, opening with a voice message from his mother sending love to the rapper and disclosing core memories from his younger years.
He lists three rules for listeners to follow, going in on his past lack of trust with women, patience in waiting for his moment, and advice for future generations.
Across much of Toosii’s discography, we dive deeper and deeper into his past love life and current relationship with Samaria Davis, as the third track “Another Love Song” showcases. His struggle to find that perfect balance of love between both parties is heard through the strong vocal delivery over a catchy, melodic sample loop.
Despite the differences between Toosii and Davis, “Another Love Song” still ensures that he is there for her in the end no matter the situation.
This another love song, this another anthem, somethin’ to bawl your eyes out to, when you’re feelin’ damaged, call me, tell me you need me there, when you wasn’t carin.’
– Toosii on “Another Love Song”
Track six “Villains & Heroes” pins this past relationship as a devil, angel situation, while also describing some of his wrongdoings that cause him pain.
Another melodic sample loop lays out Toosii’s toxic lyricism towards his own actions and his partner’s as well, again a common theme when dissecting the pain of his past relationships.
Pouring pain in his voice, each R&B song touches on the longing for love and the presentation of his life experiences learned through hardship.
The stretch of “Go Go Go” and “Pull Up,” featuring 21 Savage, are fast-paced, upbeat rap performances, flaunting his capability in more than one genre.
Behind the flawless production from the well-known producer team The LoopHoles, 21 Savage and Toosii create one of the project’s most entertaining and energetic tracks. The menacing tone set by the two artists makes for a moshpit anthem for any concert crowd and is not the first one of these to sneak into Toosii’s discography.
Final Thoughts
Mixing heart and soul into his R&B tunes and intense energy into rap, Toosii’s NAUJOUR encapsulates the multi-genre talent he has been mastering for years.
On May 10, Toosii would announce his NAUJOUR Tour, a 22-city journey this Summer to showcase the rapper’s work to his fans.
Expect music videos to come along with multiple singles off the project, with Toosii already dropping a video for track four “FWLM” on the same day as the album’s release.
New York Giants Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor and Led Zeppelin tribute band Get The Led Out highlighted the Music Beats Cancer event on June 8, a night of music, reaching out to the community, and recognizing the importance of cancer research innovations.
Get The Led Out performing at the first annual Music Beats Cancer event on June 8, 2023.
Held at Terminal 5 in New York City, Music Beats Cancer’s first annual event successfully raised awareness and money for cancer research. The non-profit organization focuses on the significance of connecting music to boost cancer-fighting treatment techniques, all while promoting new artists and their music.
Live and silent auctions, a two-part performance from Get The Led Out, and a passionate speech from Lawrence Taylor were all factors in providing a night to remember for the foundation.
Before the event, Taylor took the time to emphasize the importance of cancer research innovations, a big reason why he supports Music Beats Cancer’s organizational goals. Through personal experience in knowing people who have battled the illness and expressing the significance of helping those in need, he believes this event is a step towards an answer.
“I have friends who have cancer, had cancer, I feel that it’s a worthy cause…at the end of the day we got to take a hold of it [cancer] and somewhere there is an answer and somewhere there is a cure.”
– Lawrence Taylor
Taylor’s involvement in the group effort to promote cancer cure innovations stems from how important he believes the organization is, which assists in fighting against the disease in a unique way.

“This is a good program, I mean that it’s a bigger program than we can put out at my organization in Florida, this is well on a bigger stage,” Taylor said. “I am impressed [with the event], and hopefully more people get involved.”
Raising thousands of dollars through donations while providing a tie to the music industry, the event’s success will leave an imprint on the future of start-ups and supporting up-and-coming artists for years to come.

The Geneva Music Festival was back in full swing on Sunday, May 21, with a performance from the Iris Trio at Hobart & William Smith Colleges. In addition, three more concerts took place in the month of May, as ATLYS will take the stage on the 25th at Ravine’s Wine Cellars and Legends and Fairy Tales on the 26th and 27th at Hobart & William Smith.
For the past several weeks, The Geneva Music Festival has been delighting audiences with concerts performed by world-class talent from the chamber music scene and beyond. The season concludes this coming Sunday, June 11 following daily concerts starting June 8.
June 8 at 7:30pm, come hear the Jason Clayborn Band perform at the Cracker Factory for an ebullient night of R&B and Soul. The Grammy-nominated singer will be joined by soprano Kimberly Salter, alto Tiera Dunn, and tenor Walter Malone III, and band members Gabriel Hatcher II, main keyboard and musical director; Willie Robinson, bass; and Lacy Comer, drums. The band will perform selections from their repertoire of hits, and audience members will be welcomed to sing along.
On June 9 and 10, GMF artists-in-residence will perform “In Concordia”, the final chamber music concert of the season. Clive Greensmith, cello; Anna Petrova, piano; Geoffrey Herd, violin; Hannah Collins, cello; Clara Lyon, violin; and Tanner Menees, viola will perform works by Bach, Haydn, Elgar, and Kodaly. In keeping with this year’s festival theme, the concert will be focused on musical and spiritual harmony, featuring works that showcase transpositions of hymns and chorales. Greensmith shared his interpretation of how the festival theme of “Gods, Myths, and the Divine” connects to the concert experience: “A concert for me is an offering, a communion between composer, performer and the audience. There should be a sense of ritual, a reverence for the music, and a sense of heightened sensitivity as we listen and respond to the voice of the composer. Each performance will be different, but in every case, one is hoping to get as close as possible to the deeper meaning behind each work. In the same way that a religious experience can speak to us, to inspire, provoke or enlighten us, a concert can do something similar. Music can also heal us, it can console us and the act of listening together, focused solely on one idea, this can bring a community together in a very meaningful way.”
And finally, the Festival will conclude with a matinee concert at Geneva on the Lake by Finger Lakes-based trio The Brothers Blue. At 2pm on Sunday June 11, Matthew Sperber, guitar, bass; Benny Haravitch, banjo, bass, guitar; and Charlie Coughlin, fiddle, mandolin will perform original compositions that draw influence and inspiration from country, bluegrass, Cajun, and Irish music. Come join us in celebrating the end of an action-packed season!
The Geneva Music Festival was founded in 2011 by Geneva, New York violinist Geoffrey Herd and fellow local musicians violinist Eliot Heaton and cellist Hannah Collins as a weekend of chamber music in their hometown. Now in its 13th season, the festival has grown to a nearly month-long event that draws thousands of attendees from across the Finger Lakes region. Each year, the Festival continues its mission of inspiring people with world-class chamber music and engaging diverse audiences in its outreach programs. The theme this year is “Gods, Myths and the Divine”. To learn more, and to purchase tickets for the festival concerts, visit: https://genevamusicfestival.com/
Heading into its 13th campaign, the four-week event looks to bring together some of the region’s top musicians and connect the community through musical expression, and from May 21 to June 11, many different groups and artists will come through Upstate New York to do just that.
Every year, the concert series announces its own theme to circulate around it, with this year being titled “God, Myths, and the Divine.” This unique 2023 theme centers around human connection and interaction with the divine, maintaining a diverse set of musical styles and cultures.
With that being said, “God, Myths, and the Divine” hones in on traditions of older classical music. A majority of Felix Mendelssohn and Robert Schuman’s works are incorporated into ATLYS and other bands performing throughout the festival.
The Performers On The Theme
Exploring the present and past of music is something, violinist Max Geissler, a member of the program, prepares to welcome those who will be in attendance and praises the program’s thematic choices.
“This season really gives us the opportunity to not only learn of these cultural backgrounds, but to experiment with the unique ways in which music can convey narrative and spirituality. These programs contain so many different approaches to expressing a story, and it’s interesting to consider how music as a medium has the ability to make these legends and philosophies much more vivid.”
– Max Geissler
Opening headliner the Iris Trio also looks forward to being a part of the Geneva Music Festival. Their performance for the concert titled “Project Earth” focuses on raising awareness about the environment, an important focal point in today’s society.
“Project Earth” is the Iris Trio’s response to the enormous crisis currently facing our planet,” the Trio said. Through chamber music and poetry, the project strives to illuminate the impact of human behavior on the environment, addressing issues of climate change, pollution, habitat degradation, and biodiversity loss.”
