On June 5, ASO will host American Masters, a symphonic concert at Jazz at Lincoln Center featuring the world premiere of Roberto Sierra’s newly commissioned Concerto for Electric Violin, performed by acclaimed electric violinist Tracy Silverman. The program will also offer works by three Pulitzer Prize-winning composers: Melinda Wagner, Richard Wernick, and Shulamit Ran.
The ASO is offering free admission to this performance as a gift to New York music lovers. Tickets are free but required, available at americansymphony.org beginning on May 5. Processing fees will apply. Ticket holders will need to comply with the venue’s health and safety requirements, which can be found here.
From May 16 to June 9, the ASO offers free chamber music performances at Manhattan’s Bryant Park and at Brooklyn Bridge Park. These five performances will include music ranging from French impressionist composers and Italian works to Afro-Cuban Batá drumming. Featured artists include ASO percussionist and composer Javier Diaz, award-winning multi-instrumentalist Alexa Tarantino, trombonist Dion Tucker, and Grammy-nominated oboist Toyin Spellman-Diaz.
The remarkable and country superstar, Luke Combs, is ready for his Middle of Somewhere tour, which will kick off in September and make a stop in Albany at MVP Arena.
This upcoming tour is not the only thing in store for Combs this year. In fact, he will soon release his third studio album, Growin’ Up, while his latest song “Tomorrow Me,” recently dropped and has already received great recognition from Billboard. His top 5 single at country radio “Doin’ This,” along with 11 other songs will be featured on his long awaited album. Although, Combs has faced challenges throughout the process of this album, it is almost here.
I’ve been working on this album on and off for two and a half years now. It was sort of a crazy process through what COVID brought, and what that meant for our touring life last year. It made me have to put a pause on this album for a second, but I’m just really stoked that it’s finally coming out. Working with Chip Matthews and Jonathan Singleton as a producer has been really great and I think that the fans are going to love these songs. I’m just excited to get them out and see what they think.

I know that the price of everything has been going up these last couple years and there’s nothing I can do about that, but the one thing I could do is set the price of my tickets. Phish’s Baker’s Dozen is the focus of the new season of Undermine, from Osiris Media. The legendary 13-night run featured the Vermont jamband performing over 250 songs with no repeats over 13 nights at The Garden.
In exploring this remarkable feat, Undermine Season 3 features interviews with Scott Bernstein (Jambase), Jesse Jarnow (WFMU, After Midnight), musicologist Dr. Jake Cohen, and more, plus conversations with a bevy of fans who were lucky enough to catch all 13 shows.
For those unfamiliar, in July and August of 2017, Phish called Madison Square Garden home for a three-week stretch of shows that has come to define the peak of the current era, while pushing them forward musically and creatively in the five years since. By incorporating thematic gags, rare songs, a focus on improvisation, and a commitment to not repeating a single song, the Baker’s Dozen exemplified risk-taking and boundary-pushing music that cemented Phish’s place in rock history.
The Baker’s Dozen was a major milestone in Phish history, which solidified their place in rock history—no repeats in 13 shows, moments of improvisation that will be remembered forever, and a banner that still hangs in the building to this day. We’re so excited to give Phish fans, and music fans, a picture of how this historic run of 13 concerts came together, and how they were experienced and now remembered by many members of our community.

Legendary Jazz club, Arthur’s Tavern, has announced their plans to renovate and reopen their doors. First opened in 1937, the historic location operated until 2020.
Arthur’s Tavern will make its long awaited return following their unfortunate closing due to Covid-19. After a well deserved remodel, patrons will be welcomed into an updated bar that still keeps its classic charm. Acts you know and love will return as well, along with some new additions. There will also be a new menu for patrons to try.
We strive to not become a victim of the changing times like many others have and allow our patrons to enjoy a piece of Old New York.

The speakeasy bar was originally created in 1937 as an escape from harsh prohibition laws. It evolved into a center for singers and instrumentalists to showcase their talent while patrons take in the laid back atmosphere and friendly faces.
Located at 57 Grove Street (between South 7th Avenue and Bleecker Street) in Manhattan, the designated historic building has hosted a number of residencies including Mabel Godwin, Al Bundy, Johnny Parker and more. It has been nicknamed “The Home of the Bird” due to the fact that it was the last place in NYC that consistently hosted live jazz performances by Charlie Parker.
Legendary band of 45 years, The B-52s, have announced their farewell tour, beginning this August. Within their 11 city tour, the group will stop in New York at the Beacon Theatre, on October 13 and 14.
Considering the group has over 20 million albums, there is no doubt their tour will be a success. The B-52s have been one of the most monumental pop groups since the 70s and continue to make such a heavy influence on the music industry. This tour will conclude in Atlanta at the Fox Theatre.
However, a tour is not the only thing in store for The B-52s. In fact, their long awaited documentary, directed by Craig Johnson, and executively produced by Fred Armisen, will air in 2023. This film will discuss their musical journey as a group and share never before seen footage, as well as highlight the impact they still have on music.
No one likes to throw a party more than we do, but after almost a half-century on the road, it’s time for one last blow-out with our friends and family…our fans. And with KC & The Sunshine Band and The Tubes on board, it’s going to be one hell of a farewell party at these concerts.
Ashe played two sold out nights at Webster Hall this past week on April 25th and April 26th with support from the band Brooks & the Bluff. After the year wait since their last single released, Hawkns dropped their debut new single ‘Head and Heart’ released on April 29 and is streaming now.
Hawkns consists of the three Frank brothers, Ricky, Josh, and Joe, who were born into a family of immigrants. The Frank brothers have come together through a lot of hardship such as almost losing their home and Ricky Frank being diagnosed at fifteen for a rare muscle disease.
The brothers soon later in New Haven, CT found their lead singer Hawkins French who walked into a local music studio and became the missing piece of the Indie Pop Rock outfit “Hawkns”.
Across the East Coast, the band has performed at major stages including Mohegan Sun Casino, The Bitter End, Foxwoods Casino, and the Pleasantville New York Music Festival where they shared the stage with Blues Traveler, Suzanne Vega, and Living Colour.
“The process of creating “Head and Heart” was tough for us as a band, it took a few months to get the vision we had in our head out into our headphones. We wanted to create something that was true to our story, all of the song’s lyrics also are based on real moments from our lives and our journey as a band chasing this crazy dream together, even when we felt like giving up at times. The last lyric in the song “keep on running” is meant to leave listeners with a sense of hope. We plan to follow up with a music video which is going to drop on May 6th.”
A national historic treasure nestled in the woods near Woodstock, Maverick Concerts returns this summer with a full schedule. Beginning in July and playing throughout September, the Maverick Concert Hall features world class music such as Classical, Jazz, and Contemporary concerts.
The Maverick 2022 season begins on Saturday evening July 2nd, with a special 50th Birthday bash in celebration of the acclaimed NEXUS Ensemble. The celebration will be led by Woodstock legend Garry Kvistad and features special guests Paul Winter and Brazilian pianist Henrique Eisenmann.
Opening festivities will continue on Sunday July 3rd with an 85th birthday nod to American music living legend Philip Glass. This concert features classics of Beethoven and Bach – by two of the most exciting stars in classical music today, pianist Simone Dinnerstein and violinist Tim Fain.
Jazz, contemporary, and world music hold a special place on Saturday nights at Maverick Concerts. Sunday afternoons of Classical music have been the foundation of the Maverick Concerts since the very first Festival in 1915, and that tradition continues. Likewise, Woodstock legends will continue to share the stage with talents from all over the musical world.
The Maverick Concert Hall is located at 120 Maverick Road, Woodstock. Reserved seating and general admission tickets for all concerts are available online here. Maverick Family Concerts (Saturday afternoons on August 6th, 13th and September 3rd) are free for ages 16 and under and $5 for adults.
The 2022 Party On The Patio lineup has been announced, hosted by the Waterhole Music Lounge in Saranac Lake. The 14 annual concert series will take place outdoors, every Thursday night 6-10 P.M. beginning April 28 through October 6.
The Waterhole Music Lounge is the premiere live music venue of the Adirondacks located on Main Street in downtown Saranac Lake. It is stocked with two bars and extensive outdoor patio space, and it occupies three stories. It is a spot where locals and tourists alike go to enjoy good company and great music.
This year’s lineup has 24 bands spanning multiple states including Georgia, Kentucky, and Missouri. The genres span from ragtime to indie folk-rock, and even some roots and blues.
The lineup kicks off with the James Daniel Band on April 28, then goes to Organ Fairchild on May 5, and NYS March Madness 2022 winners Hanzolo will also perform on September 22.
Another Michael returned to the Capital District for the first time in a long time to perform live with Bread Boy at No Fun! in Troy. The now Philly-based indie rock band was formed in Albany by lead singer and guitarist Michael Doherty, guitarist and vocalist Alenni Davis, and bassist Nick Sebastiano.
Another Michael has also featured Noah Dardaris on drums for close to two years. The group has also worked with Jacob Crofoot and Red Cumpston of Bread Boy. This connection and shared influences were evident on Monday night when the two bands took the stage. Bread Boy started the show with a 45 minute set that was well received by the No Fun! crowd, and which for many, was their introduction to Jacob’s music.
The band took the stage and started their set with a brand new single titled ‘Water Pressure‘ that was officially released just a few hours before the start of the show at No Fun! Another Michael performed another new song later in the night, ‘Seafood,’ and both new songs fit well into the group’s discography. As of late, and the band seems to have found a real groove in their songwriting, and are making consistently fun and upbeat indie rock tracks. For those unfamiliar, Another Michael’s music has a sound that is truly their own, and is best experienced by listening.

Another Michael played a number of tracks from their first full-length album, which you can stream and purchase on Another Michael’s Bandcamp. Their set included ‘Row,’ ‘New Music,’ ‘I Know You’re Wrong,’ ‘What The Hell is Going On?’ and ‘Big Pop.’ These tracks all build upon Michael Doherty’s melodic and friendly falsetto at their core. Seemingly every Another Michael song has a fun and optimistic sound that fans gravitate toward. The full band behind Michael only added to these qualities, and the group bounced around and shared their enjoyment of the music with the Troy crowd.
Monday’s No Fun! show built up to a reunion on stage when Another Michael brought Jacob and Red of Bread Boy back on stage to play guitar. Both musicians have spent time playing with Another Michael in the past, and the Bread Boy duo looked right at home on stage with them. The energy from the packed stage spread throughout the room, and fans began to move around as the band rocked their way into the final songs. The night eventually came to an end with Another Michael playing two of their biggest crowd favorites: ‘Big Pop’ and ‘About.’
