Necronomicon Will Stop at Montage Music Hall During North American Tour

Canadian death metal group Necronomicon will arrive in North America for a tour this Spring. They will co-headline with a fellow metal group, The Convalescence between April and June.

This musical journey will embark on April 29 in Kalamazoo, MI at Papa Pete’s and will move throughout the states, making a stop in Rochester Montage Music Hall on June 1. Necronomicon will perform their latest album “UNUS”, which can be streamed or downloaded here.

I think I don’t need to mention how hard these last years have been for everyone, and it’s about time that we get back to a healthy music scene. We are more than happy to be back in the U.S. We really hope you guys will come and support us as we bring you ‘Vivus Verum’ on this run. Hail to all of you.

The music group was founded in 1988 by guitarist and singer Rob “The Witch”. Since their first full length album “Pharoah of Gods” dropped in 2002, Necronomicon has evolved over time. In 2019, they became the second band ever since VOIVOD to receive a certificate of honor for over 30 years of being in the music industry.

“UNUS” is a dark and black metal album that brings about darkness, brutality and elegance all in one. Along with machine like drums there is a special feature by Geirlioz (Dimmu Borgir) on Piano in ”From Ashes Into Flesh”. Zappa Tribute The Furious Bongos To Play In Buffalo and Albany

Live music is back and so are The Furious Bongos. In celebration, The Furious Bongos playing the music of Frank Zappa, is making its way through six different cities in April, two of those cities being Buffalo and Albany. The band will perform at The Linda in Albany on the 9th and Buffalo Iron Works on the 10th.

After working alongside great acts such as Oasis, Alice In Chains, REM, and a plethora of other bands, the band has built versatility and shown immaculate prestige in their career.

In honor of live music’s return, the band will be playing songs from Frank Zappa’s discography, regarded by the band as the mother of all musicians, a pun based on Zappa’s involvement with The Mothers of Invention. When it came to his music, Zappa was a pioneer of change and innovation. He allowed his band members to improvise and just have fun on stage. To honor Zappa’s legacy, The Furious Bongos will be doing the same. It will be a night to remember.

Metallica To Play At Highmark Stadium in August

Metallica might still be the biggest name in the metal scene. After releasing Ride The Lightning in 1984 and Master of Puppets in 1986, the band has achieved unprecedented longevity. Since their nascency, the band has released ten critically acclaimed studio albums, sold-out world tours, and cemented themselves as a household name.

This year, the band will be performing only two stadium shows in the United States. On Thursday, August 11 the band will play at Highmark Stadium in Buffalo, the home of the Buffalo Bills. They’ll then play PNC Park in PIttsburgh a few days later on Tuesday, August 14.

The band previously played the stadium in 1992 alongside Guns N’ Roses, and after 20 years, Metallica is expected to put host a legendary night. Playing at Highmark Stadium is a big feat in and of itself. The venue has only hosted only a number of artists, and among them include legendary acts like Fleetwood Mac, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Billy Joel, and more. Three days later, the band will play at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, PA, the home venue of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Greta Van Fleet and Ice Nine Kills will open for Metallica. Greta Van Fleet is known for imitating a 70s rock sound with lower fidelity and impressive vocals. Ice Nine Kills’ sound is much more abrasive and edgy. Both bands have gained universal respect in the rock scene, and are perfect openers for the iconic band.

Listen to the latest single from Dopapod, “Grow”

After initially teasing their upcoming, self-titled seventh album with the single “Think,” Dopapod rides on an intergalactic groove on “Grow,” released on palindromic date of 2/20/22. With an intergalactic groove punctuated by a head-nodding bassline, “Grow” features all the staples of the Dopapod sound – slick guitar, simmering cymbals, and smooth vocals.

2019 found Dopapod performing select shows in Syracuse where the band assembled what would become Dopapod. But with music shut down in 2020 and into 2021, the band spent their time perfecting the music en route to a Spring 2022 release.

“Grow” captures Dopapod’s signature blending of styles and sonics. A deep groove and tight rhythm section grounds the song in a frantic funk territory, until the clouds part to usher in the epic heights of Dopapod’s frenzied psych/prog-rock wizardry. Soaring keys and synth lines crescendo as the song accelerates before returning to where it started, true to Dopapod’s palindromic existence. The group’s knack for dense, multi-layered suites across their material is a testament to their range of influences and styles, and their live show amplifies the momentum you hear on record. Each song is a journey of cosmic proportions.

The lyric ‘big things have small beginnings’ is from the movie Prometheus. Microscopic particles are the start of life. This is how we evolve. The song could be about a character time traveling back to the Big Bang.

Dopapod is Eli Winderman [keys, vocals], Rob Compa [guitar, vocals], Chuck Jones [bass], and Neal “Fro” Evans [drums], a quartet who present albums as experiences meant to be shared out of your speakers and on stage. Traversing time travel, palindromic labyrinths, and binary pairs in a greater cohesive mystery, Dopapod’s forthcoming self-titled album ties the conceptual ends of the group’s discography, while charting a path forward.

“Grow” is about tackling binaries, and not letting failure distract you from sticking to the plan, and prioritizing your own growth. Organisms multiply and build. A seed overcomes the odds in its journey to becoming a billowing behemoth. The line borrowed from Ridley Scott’s Prometheus echoes throughout “Grow,” and shows that the band is as honed in as ever almost fifteen years into their journey.

Honest Folk Returns with Joe Pug at Arbor Loft

On February 17, 2020, Honest Folk hosted Joe Pug at Restaurant Good Luck. We know now, it was just month out from a worldwide pandemic that would shut down live music and continue to disrupt it going on two years. Pug’s show would be the second to last for Honest Folk. Until he returned, exactly two years to the day, February 17, 2022.

The world had changed. Everyone in attendance had been affected in one way or another. Pug insisted that he never took anything surrounding his live performances and audiences for granted. But now, it was especially true.

He was thankful to be able to play completely acoustic, without amplification, or any technology, which he did in a midset “Deep Dark Wells.” It was something he couldn’t do in his many streaming performances.

He was thankful, though chiding his tour manager who “couldn’t read a map,” to be able to perform for the attentive Rochester audience again, even if it meant driving in from his show the previous night in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Just a bit out of the way.

He was thankful to have known some of the great artists we lost since the last time he had played here. The great John Prine, one of the early losses to COVID, who he never met but respected from afar. And Justin Townes Earle, who he knew well and had toured with. Pug took advantage of his opportunity to continue to perform to pay his respects to each of their bountiful contributions to the great American songbook, beautifully covering Prine’s “Sam Stone” and Earle’s “Mama’s Eyes.”

Joined on the stage by Charlie Muench on upright bass, Pug worked his way through his own songbook, presenting his poetic masterpieces on both guitar and piano, always with his harmonica at the ready to provide some extra oomph when called for.

The crowd was quiet and attentive in the calming loft space overlooking Rochester’s East End. Each song elicited gasps of excitement would emerge from different corners of the room. It seemed everyone had their favorites, and he was working his way to get them all in. But just in case, he stayed on for an all-request encore. So someone got the “Bright Beginnings” they were hoping for, another got to hear “The Great Despiser.” The night ended on “Not So Sure,” which Joe Pug thought was a bit of a bummer song to finish with, “but it’s my fault for writing a bunch of songs that are bummers,” he quipped. Nonetheless, Rochester couldn’t have been happier to have him back, hopefully it won’t be another two years before they get to have him again.

It certainly won’t be another two years before another Honest Folk show. The next one is mere weeks away when Canadian duo Ocie Eliot comes to town to make their own bit of magic up in the Arbor Loft on March 10. Tickets are on sale now. Don’t miss it!

This summer The St, STADIUM TOUR with Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Poison, and Joan Jett, will be heading to two NY dates, at Citi Field and Highmark Stadium.

Def Leppard is one of the most important forces in rock music and has amassed a younger demographic of listeners as well. They have almost six billion streams with 110 million records sold.

Joan Jett changed the way rock and roll operate, being a female rocker in a time when there were few girls in the scene. Having nine top 40 hits and a career spanning film, TV, and Broadway, she is a force to be reckoned with.

Finally, the emerging band Classless Act will be opening. They were scouted by Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee after he heard their single “Give It To Me.” Speaking of opening bands, Lee had this to say.

I remember when we went out with Ozzy in 1984 and how it was an insane game changer!! We literally blew up after having that opportunity to play live in front of 20,000 people every f***ing night! Since then, we’ve always felt it was important to help new bands; whether it was Guns N Roses, Skid Row or so many others. This summer we’re gonna help out Classless Act.

Chris Stapleton to Tour Through Three New York Venues

The formidable singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton is set to tour through three New York venues this year. On the list is Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, Saratoga Performing Arts Center and CMAC in Canandaigua.

The accomplished artist announces this tour in concurrence with his three Grammy nominations. Moreover, with already five wins already under his belt, Stapleton has the accolades to show his strength and talents.

Expected to join the Chris Stapleton at CMAC are Elle King, famous for her hit viral song “Ex’s & Oh’s” and Madeline Edwards. At the Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater and Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Elle King and Morgan Wade will perform. All three women are talented in their respective rights, and their performances will be spectacles to watch.

Kitchen Dwellers Announce ‘Wise River’ Release Date and Supporting Tour With NY Shows

The Bozeman, Montana-based band Kitchen Dwellers have a lot in store for 2022. In addition to dropping their latest single “Wise River” this month, their tour has begun and will make stops at New York CIty’s Mercury Lounge and Buffalo Iron Works. The neo-bluegrass band have also announced their third full-length album, also titled Wise River, which will drop on April 29.

Kitchen Dwellers create their own spin of bluegrass, folk, and rock through a perspective of the American West. The quartet, including mandolin player Shawn Swain, Torrin Daniels on the banjo, Joe Funk on the upright bass, and acoustic guitarist Max Davies, combine forces to turn homegrown stories, rich mythology, and psychedelic hues into music. With producer Cory Wong, the Kitchen Dwellers are ready to release their new album.

Considering all band members are from Montana, their album correlates to how life has been through their eyes lately. Wise River is known to be one of Montana’s natural wonders, considering its 30-mile stream that flows down the southwestern region of the state, from the mountains into the Big Hole River.

The town of Wise River is basically a forgotten spot on the map. It used to be a thriving place with many prosperous mines, but now it’s practically dried up. There’s a hell of a lot of melancholy. In our mind, it symbolizes the overall feeling of being in slowed-down Montana life.

Kitchen Dwellers are known for selling out shows, receiving credibility from well-known publications like the Huffington Post, and surpassing five million plus streams. Therefore, there is no doubt that their current tour will be a success and boost their status within the music industry.

Earlier this month, the quartet released the official music video of their newest single Wise River, along with their behind-the-scenes trailer, which can be viewed here.

In addition to going on tour in New York, Kitchen Dwellers will travel across the country, making stops along the Pacific Northwest to the Southeast. Furthermore, there will be numerous festival appearances including the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, WinterWonderGrass, Sweetwater 420 Fest, Tuck Fest, Bear Shadow, Domefest, Summer Camp Music Festival, Peach Fest, Electric Forest, Northwest String Summit, FloydFest, RiverWonderGrass, and many more to be announced.
