  • Wiz Khalifa and Logic Vinyl Verse Tour Lands at Saratoga Performing Arts Center

Logic and Wiz Khalifa co-headlined at Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, August 23. The Vinyl Verse Tour features 24kGoldn, Fedd the God, DJ Drama, and C Dot Castro. Within the nearly full amphitheater, the group of artists performed ongoing acts without missing a single beat.

DJ Bonics warmed up the audience to upbeat popular hip hop songs before C Dot Castro hit the stage. Settling in on stage, Castro rapped effortlessly to a fast beat entertaining the large crowd. For some in the audience, it was their first time hearing his music, and this didn’t stop them from dancing and chanting the lyrics right back.

DJ Drama kept the beats rolling for Pittsburg native, Fedd the God. Fedd instantly gave his full energy while performing original songs. Near the end of Fedd’s set, he jumped into the crowd and continued rapping without hesitation.

24kGoldn performed his hit songs “Valentino,” and “Mood,” while many in the crowd sang along, and danced without any encouragement needed.

The lights dimmed and Multi-platinum GRAMMY® Award-nominated Logic, nurtured the crowds excitement as he jumped on stage and performed songs including “Everyday,” “1-800-273-8255,” and more. Logic’s sound projects the same as it does on recordings and he comfortably delivered his lyrics at a rapid pace while walking from side-to-side on the stage.

Following Logic, the lights dimmed one more time for Grammy and Golden Globe nominee, Wiz Khalifa. Khalifa stood on a tall platform and opened with classic hip-hop record “Black and Yellow.” The standing audience waved their arms up and down to the beat of each song; there were a select few that jumped.

  • State Champs Announce New Tour With Two NY Stops

State Champs have announced their Kings Of The New Age tour which will begin in November and end in the band’s hometown of Albany in December. The tour is in promotion of the group’s new album and special guests Hunny, Between You & Me, Young Culture, Games We Play, and Save Face will join for select dates.

State Champs Tour poster with cartoon of person spray painting.

State Champs released their 4th studio album, Kings Of The New Age, earlier this year. Comprised of Derek DiScanio, Tyler Szalkowski, Ryan Scott Graham, and Evan Ambrosio, the group has been on the pop-punk scene for years. Guest vocalists on the newest album include Chrissy Costanza, Mitchell Tenpenny, and Four Year Strong. At 35 minutes long, the 11-track work doubles down on the vibrant sound State Champs has produced for over a decade.

Kings of The New Age is our fourth album, the one that we spent the most time on, and the one that makes the biggest statement. After writing over 30 songs, we narrowed it down to 11 that best represent our mission as a band, and sonically, match the energy level we wanted to captivate heading into this new chapter.

    – State Champs

State Champs began in bedrooms and basements in 2010 and grew into a band with a faithful legion of fans. The upcoming tour brings the Albany band to various states and cities across North America for great nights of pop-punk sound. On Nov. 13, the group will play at the Brooklyn Steel before returning to New York for the final show at Empire Live on Dec. 10.

I’m particularly excited for the KOTNA Tour because of how much we as a band are focusing on the aesthetic and flow of the show … this will be the first tour where it feels more like an experience rather than just a band on stage playing songs. The stage production is by far the most unique and badass it’s ever been, and you bet the mixture of songs in our catalog (new songs, old songs, and some surprises) will create a wild setlist. Best night ever.

    -Vocalist Derek DiScanio

Tickets are available now at the band’s website and for the full list of tour dates and special guests see below.

One of their newest singles “Me and My Friends” will be played on EQXposure on Sunday night.

    Elephant Back-“Kiss the Sky”

  • Meet You At The Catskill Mountain Jubilee

The second ever Catskill Mountain Jubilee took place this past weekend. Nestled within the Catskill Mountains at the Blackthorne Resort, the festival provided a great mix of nature and comfort. There was a pool with DJs playing throughout the weekend, several stages, including a late night rave hangar, lakes, cabins, even a haunted house!

Aqueous & Friends ft Craig Broadhead at The Hangar Stage

The music was phenomenal throughout the whole weekend. Sit ins included Aqueous & Friends featuring Craig Broadhead, DJ Logic & Friends as well as Star Kitchen featuring James Casey and Natalie Cressman, and DrFameus featuring Glyfiks were the musical sets that stood out to me. Put a saxophone in my face and I’m hooked!

    Craig Broadhead

Dark Star Orchestra played four sets over the course of both nights with the first night being a recreation of 6/3/76. Highlights included a “Might As Well” opener, “Lazy Lightning,” “Dancing in the Streets,” and a thumping two-song encore featuring “The Wheel” and “The Golden Road (To Unlimited Devotion).” The second night proved to be much slower and the “Drums” jam was going nowhere. An incredible “White Rabbit” encore brought life back into the crowd, but not without the sound dropping out for a bit.

    Dark Star Orchestra

After the main shebang there was much to do, late night shows were aplenty. DJ Logic with Craig Broadhead, James Casey, & Natalie Cressman was my favorite late night shindig but I also enjoyed Baked Shrimp at 3 a.m.

Marc Brownstein with Natalie Cressman during Star Kitchen

Laura Lee’s gospel set was soul touching and right during that Sunday morning church time. Marc Brownstein made a funny crack about how shorts aren’t showbiz appropriate as he mustered through the hot sun in jeans at the Star Kitchen set.

James Casey sitting in with Star Kitchen

Catskill Mountain Jubilee has something going for it; the grounds are really enjoyable. With every event there’s issues and problems that need to be solved but seeing how well it’s done for it’s second year, I think this festival has a bright future ahead. It has a good mix of live and electronic music, activities, chill spots, amenities, and a good crew.

Ghost Light is a five-piece American jam band formed in 2017 which consists of Scotty Zwang (drums) Raina Mullen (guitar, vocals), Tom Hamilton (guitar, vocals), and Holly Bowling (piano).

“The story is less the fallout as it is the recovery. Sticking with it. Staying the course in the face of adversity, uncomfortable conversations or situations. The path to health and healing is often not the path of least resistance but the path of perseverance and doing the work.”

    Tom Hamilton

Their new song “Take Some Time” is a syncopated synth-heavy indie-rock song following the release of “Don’t Say Goodnight Just Yet.” It contains an earworm of a chorus with a nasty bass line and sparkling guitar solos perfect for a top-down end of summer road trip. The music video is also available on their official website.

Ghost Light will kick off The Healing Tour on October 6 and will play through the Midwest and East Coast and will back out west before their last stop in Los Angeles on December 16.

  • Albany Latin Festival to Return For 25th Year

The Albany Latin Festival will return to Washington Park in Albany on August 27 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with live music, dance, art, raffles, Latino craft and food vendors, and more.

Albany Latin Festival Association logo with decorative writing and a sun.

Ritmo Caliente will headline the Latin Festival music showcase with other performers in the lineup including Hip Hop Jibaro, Grupo Los Costeños, Bronte Roman with a Celia Cruz tribute, and R&B artist Mirage. The lineup includes a diverse set of Hispanic music genres for all to experience and enjoy.

The Latino culture, specifically music, art and dance are beautiful. Some friends and I came up with the Albany LatinFest years ago to develop an event to share the culture, but more importantly an event that Latino families would be proud to experience. We knew from the beginning that this would not only be a celebration of art and culture, but also a statement of inclusion because the Latin Fest is for everyone.

-Pedro Diaz, founder and President of the Albany Latin Festival Association

The Albany Latin Festival Association aims to promote and develop Hispanic cultural events in the capital region. The Latin Festival is one way for the organization to honor the contributions of Hispanic performing artists and promote an appreciation for multi-cultural diversity.

Previous talents at the festival have included Bachata Heightz, Don Sonero, Tony Vega, Ray de la Paz, Jorge Blanco, Raulin Rosendo, Hector Tricoche, Alex Torres & his Latin Orchestra, Tito Rojas, Tony Swing, Anissa Gathers, Michael Stuart, Ismael Miranda, among many others.

In the case of rain, the festival will be held near the Corning Preserve Boat Launch. For more information, and upcoming events, visit the Albany Latin Festival Association website.

  • Wiz Khalifa and Logic Vinyl Verse Tour to Make Stop at Saratoga Performing Arts Center

Wiz Khalifa and Logic are bringing their Vinyl Verse Tour 2022 to Saratoga’s Performing Arts Center on August, 23. Featuring special guests 24kGoldn, DJ Drama, C Dot Castro, and Fedd the God, the 28-city tour kicked-off on July 27 in Irvine, CA, before making stops across the United States. The August 23 date follows a performance at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on August 16 and preludes their last New York stop of the tour on August 25, at the Darien Lake Amphitheatre.

Since bursting his way onto the scene with his 2011 full-length debut, Rolling Papers, and the classic hip hop record, “Black and Yellow,” Wiz Khalifa has continued to elevate his status among the mainstream elite. Records like “23,” “Or Nah,” “Payphone” and “Young, Wild and Free” have not only maintained replay value, but has solidified Wiz Khalifa as one of the most popular hip hop acts across the world. His 2015 record “See You Again” — which served as a tribute to Paul Walker in the movie Fast 7 — earned him Grammy and Golden Globe nominations while amassing over 5 billion views on Youtube.

Since his emergence in 2010, multi-platinum GRAMMY® Award-nominated Logic has separated himself from the pack as one of the most prolific and prevalent artists of the past decade, a New York Times Bestselling author, and a positive force for change. His record “1-800-273-8255” is the previous phone number for the American National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL) and earned the Maryland native two Grammy-award nominations. With a sizable discography to his name, Logic has progressed from a now-legendary run of cult-like mixtapes to three number one albums, sold out arena tours on multiple continents, and 6 billion streams and counting.

Produced by LiveNation, tickets for the 6:30 p.m. performance can be found on their official website.
