“The Afterparty” was announced as a weekly streaming concert series to follow Trey Anastasio’s “The Beacon Jams” concert series. It will take place on James Casey’s live-stream platform, Aux Chord, and will run every Friday between October 9 and November 27 after Trey’s show.
James Casey is the founder of Aux Chord, and a longtime member of the Trey Anastasio Band. Aux Chord is a live virtual music venue created by artists in support of bringing together the music community at large. 100% of the profits directly benefit the artists performing on each show. Because of this, 100% of the proceeds from “The Afterparty” concert series will benefit the performers from that night’s concert. Trey Anastasio Band Member & Aux Chord Founder James Casey are hosting the concert series and plan for it to take place across multiple stages. “The Afterparty” series will feature 2 hours of staggered live performances with a host DJ and multiple virtual stages that viewers can pop into throughout the night.
The first episode of “The Afterparty” will kick off on Friday, October 9 shortly after 10PM EST after the weekly “The Beacon Jams” airs at 8PM EST via Twitch. The first night will host DJ Raydar Starts Spinning at 10:15, James Casey at 10:30, and Louis Cato at 10:45. Tickets are on sale now here and tickets are only $10 for the first show.
There will also be an added feature on Aux Chord that will give the audience weekly interactive experience featuring “Fancam,” which allows viewers to watch alongside one another, dance together and truly interact with the performance.

Joe Russo’s Almost Dead announced new dates for live streams which will benefit Headcount to encourage voter registration among music fans. The live stream multi-day event will take place from October 1-3 on multiple platforms.
The live stream was originally supposed to take place from October 2-4 on the pay-per-view system. Now, the event is being presented by LOCKN’, Relix, Twitch, and FANS and will be free for viewers on the Twitch channel at 8:00PM EST, October 1 – 2. It will also premiere for LOCKN’ 2021 admission ticket purchasers exclusively on October 3. .
Ticket holders will receive an access code to watch an exclusive set of Joe Russo’s Almost Dead which will be hosted on FANS at 8:00PM EST. All purchasers of the previously announced pay-per-view live streams will receive a full refund according to the press release.
The live streams will accept donations to help support voter registration and turnout in the upcoming election. They are doing this in teaming up with HeadCount, the non-partisan organization that uses the power of music to register voters and promote participation in democracy. People viewing the live streams on each day will have the opportunity to make in-stream donations to HeadCount and be able to verify their voter registration status.
Joe Russo’s Almost Dead will be performing at an indoor location for the streams and then the broadcast will feature visual integration of LOCKN’ landscapes, giving fans at home a unique and immersive experience. The show is being presented by LOCKN’ as well as Dayglo Presents and Dogfish Head Brewery.
Joe Russo’s Almost Dead is made up of Marco Benevento, Dave Dreiwitz, Tom Hamilton, Scott Metzger and Joe Russo. They are a well known and loved Grateful Dead cover band that formed back in 2013.

As Phish moves their Dinner and a Movie series from weekly to monthly, the newest installment has been announced, featuring the band’s performance on July 23, 1999 from Polaris Amphitheater in Columbus, OH. The never before seen full show archival video will air on Wednesday, September 30 at 8:30PM ET at LivePhish.com, which also happens to be Trey Anastasio‘s birthday (more on that below).
For the Dinner part of the evening, Phish HQ’s Betty Frost has put together a spread that includes enchiladas, a jicama/orange/cucumber/mint salad and apple fritters. You can find recipes for all these here.
Released on Live Phish in November 2019, the show in the Columbus suburbs was the 17th show on a 20-date summer tour. A humid evening, the show started with a 12-minute “Ya Mar,” and features Anastasio on keys briefly on the “Punch You in the Eye” intro.
On July 23, 1999 Phish returned to Polaris Amphitheatre for their second show at this 20,000-seat outdoor shed in the Columbus suburbs. It was the 17th show on a 20-date U.S. summer tour.It was still light out on a sticky Ohio evening when the band took the stage with a rollicking Ya Mar opener, followed by NICU, followed by Back At The Chicken Shack > Punch You In The Eye with an extended synthesizer-infused intro.
Set 2 turned up the heat with a first even pairing of “Ghost” > “Free,” with a lightening storm growing as intense as the jams between these two. A 25-minute “Birds of a Feather,” then still a new song in their catalog, allowed the band to play on and off with the storm as it raged overhead. During the late-set “Meatstick,” Anastasio announced that the band’s New Years Eve performance would be held at Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation in southern Florida.

Dinner and a Movie is presented free to all, with a charity selected each week where donations are asked to be directed. This installment’s beneficiary is the ACLU. Founded in 1920, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, multi-issue, public interest organization devoted to protecting the civil liberties of all people in the United States. Recognized as the nation’s premier public interest law firm, the ACLU works daily in courts, legislatures, and communities to defend and preserve the freedoms guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution.
Over $850,000 has been raised by Phish fans since late March for the Waterwheel Foundation and other charities highlighted in the Dinner and a Movie series.

The pandemic brought a powerhouse of talented artists, sharing their music and performances through live streaming and virtual concerts. Last week, confusing new guidelines regarding Facebook live streaming performances, effective Oct. 1, have the potential to limit streaming of concerts.

You may not use videos on our Products to create a music listening experience. We want you to be able to enjoy videos posted by family and friends. However, if you use videos on our Products to create a music listening experience for yourself or for others, your videos will be blocked and your page, profile or group may be deleted. This includes Live.

They have since clarified their rules by saying that they want to continue letting artists express their talent, but still protect them through agreements by rights holders.
We want to encourage musical expression on our platforms while also ensuring that we uphold our agreements with rights holders. These agreements help protect the artists, songwriters, and partners who are the cornerstone of the music community — and we’re grateful for how they’ve enabled the amazing creativity we’ve seen in this time.
Our partnerships with rights holders have brought people together around music on our platforms. As part of our licensing agreements, there are limitations around the amount of recorded music that can be included in Live broadcasts or videos. While the specifics of our licensing agreements are confidential, today we’re sharing some general guidelines to help you plan your videos better:
Music in stories and traditional live music performances (e.g., filming an artist or band performing live) are permitted.
The greater the number of full-length recorded tracks in a video, the more likely it may be limited (more below on what we mean by “limited”).
Shorter clips of music are recommended.
There should always be a visual component to your video; recorded audio should not be the primary purpose of the video.
These guidelines are consistent across live and recorded video on both Facebook and Instagram, and for all types of accounts — i.e. pages, profiles, verified and unverified accounts. And although music is launched on our platforms in more than 90 countries, there are places where it is not yet available. So if your video includes recorded music, it may not be available for use in those locations.

Over the course of this year, live streaming concerts have been popular to say the least, it has and still is a necessity for most parts of the world. Popular musicians like Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry have used this platform, but most importantly, new upcoming artists used this method to promote their music.
What’s interesting is that although they claim they want to “encourage musical performances on [their] platform,” they still shut down live streaming accounts.
Facebook owns Instagram, as well, but no new rules have been added to their live streaming.
For right now, don’t fret about Facebook not sharing your favorite live performances. LAUNCH is a website independent from social networks that is here to provide support for the live music community. The team offers anyone to join in on Sept. 17 for an introduction meeting to the new platform. Together, they hope to promote and encourage the struggling scene of live music.
PearlPalooza Music Festival will go virtual for their 2020 celebration on September 19. It will feature exclusive performances, interviews, and more. PearlPalooza will be free and available to everyone via live-stream.
PearlPalooza generally takes place on Pearl Street in downtown Albany. The festival hosts musical performances, food, and more and organizers calculated that in 2019 over 10,000 people attended the festivities. This year’s Virtual PearlPalooza is presented by 102.7 WEQX – The REAL Alternative, Sugar Productions, Downtown Albany, New York BID, The Hollow Bar + Kitchen, High Peaks Event Production, and media sponsor Albany.com.
This year’s Virtual PearlPalooza will feature performances from some of Albany’s favorite musicians. The performances will start with a performance from MIRK at 1:00 PM. Then Victory Soul Orchestra will take the virtual stage at 2:15PM. The Wild Adriatic will then perform at 3:30PM. Then wrapping up the live performances Eastbound Jesus will take the stage 4:45PM.
PearlPalooza is teaming up with MVP Health Care to present YogaPalooza 2020 on September 19, 2020 at 11AM. People can join for a free, socially-distanced outdoor yoga class celebrating wellness and community at two Downtown locations. On the lawn at the SUNY System Administration Building at 353 Broadway and at Tricentennial Park at Broadway & Columbia Street.

On Thursday, September 10, Glens Falls’ Park Theater is hosting a virtual fundraiser with the streaming of silent film The Marriage Circle. Silent film accompanist Ben Model will supplement the film with an original live score. The show begins at 7:00 p.m. with a presentation from the Chapman Museum about Glens Falls’ 1920s theater scene following the 1928 Spanish Flu pandemic.
Ben Model plays piano and organ, and his scores have been used by adult orchestras and high school ensembles alike. In addition to The Marriage Circle, he’s produced scores for the films of Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton. Over the past 30 years, Model has composed scores for hundreds of silent films both long and short.
The Marriage Circle, a 1924 comedy, was directed and produced by German-born director Ernst Lubitsch. The film’s writer, Paul Bern, was inspired by Lothar Schmidt’s 1909 play “Nur ein Traum (Only a Dream).” One of The Marriage Circle’s actresses, Esther Ralston, lived in the Glens Falls area in the 1970s. Ralston has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

High Holidays live-stream was announced by the Because Jewish organization. The High Holidays celebration series for 2020 will stream for two weekends starting on Rosh Hashanah on September 18 at 7PM and the 19 at 10AM and on Yom Kippur on September 27 at 8PM and the 28 at 10AM. The celebration will include performances from people like Jeremiah Lockwood, Armo, Eric Slick (Dr. Dog), and Reid Genauer (Strangefolk). All four events will be broadcast for free live from New York’s Brooklyn Bowl.
The event will be led by Rabbi Daniel Brenner with Antibalas Jordan McLean acting as it’s musical director. The festivities won’t have a live audience at the Brooklyn Bowl unfortunately due to COVID-19 but people can attend the via Fans.com where it will be live- streaming. This will be the ninth annual High Holidays, Because Jewish is hosting. The aim is to host a suite of musically and spiritually driven High Holiday services.
Eric Krasno, Disco Biscuits’ Aron Magner, Guster’s Brian Rosenworcel, Dap-Kings saxophonist Cheme and guitarist Bryan Grone are the latest additions to the lineup, part of the array of musical guests appearing throughout the services. Some will be live while others will be pre-recorded performances.
Some of the anticipated artists include Jeremiah Lockwood, Armo, Eric Slick (Dr. Dog), Reid Genauer (Strangefolk), Alex Bleeker (Real Estate), Stuart Bogie (Antibalas/Arcade Fire), Dan Lebowitz (ALO), Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith Group), Dave Harrington (Darkside), Adam Roberts, Aaron Diskin (Golem) Anthony Russell, Brian Chase (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and a number of others. Each service will also include traditional prayers, a guided meditation, and instrumental offerings from a number of notable New York jazz musicians.

Hamilton Leithauser announced his record release party will be held on a virtual platform for his upcoming record, Live! at Café Carlyle LP. The record release party is taking place on September 12, at 8PM EST.
Hamilton Leithauser is an american singer-songwriter best known for being the lead vocalist of the American indie rock band The Walkmen. He is also widely known for his solo work like “A 1000 Times” and “Here They Come” His newest record, Live! at Café Carlyle LP, was recorded at New York City’s landmark Café Carlyle in January 2020. The Café Carlyle is known for being a luxurious, mural-lined cabaret venue at the Carlyle Hotel. It’s a high end establishment with a dress code and is known for having many celebrity appearances and originally opened in 1955.
The record release party will be broadcasted from Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, NY where Hamilton Leithauser will be performing the album. Levon Helm Studios was established in 1975 and is famously known as an american studio and venue founded by Levon Helm who is widely known as the drummer and one of the vocalists in The Band who played Woodstock back in 1969. Flushing Town Hall is joining Global Music Month with a virtual concert series. A collective of world music festivals and events across the U.S. and Canada, GMM 2020 consists of 19 presenting organizations. Throughout September, the historic arts landmark in Queens will showcase archived “Global Mashup” concerts as well as live Latin and Korean music.
No two Global Music Month events are the same, and each concert offers a unique blend of sounds and cultures. The Town Hall is kicking off the festivities with replays of their 2018 Global Mashups, where two types of international music come together. Each band performs a solo set, then they combine their talents and jam out together.
The first such concert, “Latin Boogaloo Meets Afrobeat,” technically isn’t part of Global Music Month because of its pre-September date, but it airs at 7:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, August 25. After that, the series will continue weekly at the same time through September 22. Subsequent mashups include “Egypt Meets Haiti,” “Mexico Meets Guinea,” “Balkans Meet El Barrio,” and “Texas Meets Peru.”
Besides the archived 2018 mashup series, Flushing Town Hall has assembled two nights of live music.
Latin American Rhythms Night starts at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, exploring New York City’s colorful Brazilian, Mexican, and Argentinian artists. The night features live and pre-recorded performances from David Vieira, Sinuhe Padilla, and Pedro Giraudo. The show is hosted and curated by Martin Vejarano of the Cumbia River Band, and also features “Spanglish” stories and interviews.
Finally, psychedelic Korean folk band Coreyah is closing out Global Music Month at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29. Since 2010, the band has melded a contemporary pop sound with traditional Korean music.
“As a cultural institution whose mission is to bring people together by presenting global arts for a global community, we couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of this unique and diverse consortium and to participate in the Global Music Month 2020 online festival,” says Ellen Kodakek, Flushing Town Hall’s Executive & Artistic Director. “The fact of it being virtual means audiences throughout the country and around the world can enjoy our content and not just those in New York, where our venue is located. We are especially proud to present this programming free of charge.”
