  • Annie in the Water and Hayley Jane Teaming Up for ‘Rumors’ Tour

    Fleetwood Mac’s Rumors is one of rock’s iconic albums. Annie in the Water and Hayley Jane will be joining forces this winter to pay tribute to this classic album.

    The Hayley in the Water Spread Rumors Tour begins Feb. 5 at the Waterhole in Saranac Lake and wraps in Burlington at Higher Ground. The tour will visit cities throughout the Northeast from Buffalo to Hartford, CT. Stops include Flour City Station in Rochester, the Buffalo Iron Works, Stone Church in Brattleboro, VT and the Disruption Network‘s third-anniversary party in Utica.

    The full-set tribute to Rumors will be sandwiched between sets of original music from both acts, beginning with an acoustic solo set from Burlington’s Hayley Jane. Annie in the Water closes each show with Hayley Jane sitting in.

    Hayley Jane has recently collaborated with Ryan Montbleau in the duo Yes Darling, a project that presents a whimsical take on relationships with a Vaudevillian vibe. Her solo set draws from folk, blues, musical theater, and ’60s and ’70s pop and rock. Her performance of “The Chain” with Montbleau and moe. at the 2017 moe.down was one of the highlights of that weekend.

    Annie in the Water released its latest album Time to Play in June of this year. This is the band’s second album overall and first since the 2011 debut Destination. They’re riding a wave of tremendous success in 2019 which saw them performing at several festivals, including headlining Woods Fest in Westernville, NY this past August and the Shakori Hills Festival of Music and Dance in Pittsboro, NC in October.

    Prior to the February Hayley in the Water tour, Annie in the Water will finish the year with a two-date New Year’s run that has them performing at the official moe. post-party, the Hometown Throwdown Dec. 30 at The Sanctuary in Utica with special guests. They’ll ring in the new year with Raisinhead at the High Peaks Resort Ballroom in Lake Placid. Tickets for both shows are available now.

  • Dark Star Orchestra perform at The Palace this weekend, announce lineup for Dark Star Jubilee

    Dark Star Jubilee will feature host and headliner Dark Star Orchestra for six sets over May 22-24, 2020. Held in Thornville, OH, Dark Star Jubilee has evolved into a celebration of the music of the Grateful Dead, as well as a reunion of performers in the broader Grateful Dead scene.

    Announced acts for the festival include Oteil & Friends, Galactic (featuring Anjelika Jelly Joseph), Zero (featuring Steve Kimock, Gregg Anton, Pete Sears and Melvin Seals), The Infamous Stringdusters, Jorma Kaukonen, Keller Williams, Marco Benevento, Jeff Mattson & Friends and Holly Bowling. Also performing are Rumpke Mountain Boys, Mystic Bowie’s Talking Dreads, Dino English & The Progfusionals and Katie Henry Band.

    Dark Star Orchestra will close out 2019 with two nights at The Palace Theatre in Albany over December 28-29 and head to The Wellmont in Montclair, NJ for two final nights. More info and tickets can be found here.

  • In Focus: Goosemas at Wall Street Theater

    If one band is on the lips of live music fans around the Northeast, it’s Goose. And for good reason – the group has had a break out year, with an instantly memorable Peach Festival set, a Fall Tour that saw them sell out and upgrade venues left and right, and now have sold out the Wall Street Theater in Norwalk, CT for their sixth annual Goosemas year-end, hometown show.

    In addition to bringing in over 300 pounds of food for Open Doors shelter in Norwalk, Goose performed two sets – The Ghost of Goosemas Past, and The Ghost of Goosemas Future. The ‘Past’ set featured The Band’s “Christmas Must Be” to open the night, original Goose guitarist Peter Castaldi joining for “Gringo,” Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s “Carol of the Bells” and a set closing “Linus and Lucy” seen below.

    The ‘Future’ set was bookended by fan favorite “Wysteria Lane,” followed by a debut of Robert Johnson’s “Sweet Home Chicago,” made famous by The Blues Brothers. Debuts of “Arrow” and “Honey Bee” were surrounded by songs released earlier this year, “White Lights” and “Creatures.” An improv heavy jam on The Beatles “Tomorrow Never Knows” was dark and went deep, prompting a few nearby to ask “Is this still ‘Creatures’?” The venue had loyal fans packing every inch of the venue until past 1 AM, and energy flowing from eveyone touched by the magic of Goosemas.

    Opening the night was TalkPeck Soundsystem, featuring a combination of covers of Talking Heads, Vulfpeck and LCD Soundsystem, all of which were knocked out of the park to warm up the crowd, and then some.

  • Summer Camp 2020 Lineup Announced

    Crowd favorites Umphrey’s McGee and moe. will return to headline the 2020 edition of Summer Camp, each band playing all three days of the weekend-long festival. Ween, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Billy Strings, Rezz, STS9 and Tipper are among the bands announced to play. Joining them will be The Wood Brothers, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Lettuce, Twiddle, The New Deal, Spafford, Andy Frasco & The U.N, SunSquabi, Keller Williams, Kyle Hollingsworth Band and Dirty Heads.

    Three-day Passes, VIP Upgrades, Thursday Pre-Party Passes, and RV campsites sales are on now. Summer Camp will be May 22-24, 2020 (Memorial Day Weekend) at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, IL.

  • Brooklyn Bowl Nashville, Coming Soon

    Brooklyn Bowl opens the doors to its new location in Nashville, Tennessee this spring. The grand opening on March, 14 features a performance by Bowlive with Soulive and George Porter Jr. More than 30 shows were announced for this spring, including acts like Twiddle, Toots and The Maytals, and Carseat Headrest. Tickets are on sale now.

    The 1,200 capacity live music venue will also be home to four bars and nineteen bowling alleys over it’s two stories. The owners maintain that it will retain the same aesthetic as the original Brooklyn Bowl.

  • Grammy-Nominated Guitarist Julian Lage Announces Vanguard Stint; Winter Dates

    Acclaimed jazz guitarist – Julian Lage, has revealed a new set of performances to end the year and bring in the new decade, in celebration of his latest Grammy nomination. A five-time nominee of the prestigious award, Lage has been a universally renowned composer for almost two decades – having first performed at the 2000 Grammy awards, at only 12 years old.

    The tour, which has included performances alongside fellow guitar icon Bill Frisell, will see him and his bandmates – The Julian Lage Trio, featured in his 2019 album Love Hurts – perform throughout the East Coast. Beginning with a stop at Philadelphia’s Jonny Brenda’s, Lage will also make stops in Washington, DC and Old Saybrook, CT, before finishing off with a six-night set at the Village Vanguard in New York City.

  • Greensky Bluegrass Announces Winter Tour

    American bluegrass/rock band Greensky Bluegrass has announced a new winter tour that will span the first two months of 2020. The band – known for bringing a rock-and-roll feel to bluegrass music – will be touring in support of their 2019 album All For Money.

    Comprised of dobro player Anders Beck, Michael Arlen Bont on the banjo, guitarist, Dave Bruzza, Mike Devol on the upright bass, and Paul Hoffman on the mandolin, Greensky Bluegrass has been touring for the last 18 years, taking pride in their unique sound.

    “We’re a rock-and-roll band that plays bluegrass instruments. Bluegrass is such a finite thing. Because you have a banjo and a mandolin, you’re supposed to do it a certain way. But we’ve always been ourselves,” said Beck.

    This latest expedition will begin on January 15 and will see them tour throughout the Midwest and the East and West Coasts before finishing off in the South, with a performance in Atlanta, GA, on February 7 and 8. The East Coast swing contains several stops in New York in January at venues like the State Theater in Ithaca, NYC’s Beacon Theatre, and Albany’s own The Egg.

  • In Focus: Nothing Finer Than Phish In Carolina

    Phish fired on all cylinders at North Charleston Coliseum, making their seventh visit to the South Carolina venue deliciously-memorable for the sold-out crowd. Bust-out covers, banter, and barely played original tunes elevated the already enticing jam tapestry that this band is known for.

    The band began the three night run with an acapella “Carolina,” which was last played on 12/30/2016 at Madison Square Garden. “Carolina” was followed by the crowd hyping Phish original, “Party Time.” The bust-outs continued with “Strawberry Letter 23” by Shuggie Otis, marking the fourth time that the band has played this beloved cover. During the second set, the audience was treated to Led Zeppelin’s “No Quarter,” last played 12/29/2018 at Madison Square Garden.

    “I Been Around,” last played at MGM Grand on 11/1/2018, made an appearance, complete with humorous lead in pun. Trey said: “Hey Page, I’ve been wondering. Where have you been anyways?” Page cleverly replied “I’ve been around,” which lead into the song.

    Two barely played original tunes graced the set list, including “Destiny Unbound,” last played on 2/23/2019. The encore included an even more rare “Bittersweet Motel,” last played on 7/6/2016.

    Phish certainly gave their dedicated fans a reason to travel to the Palmetto State. They are back in action the next two nights at North Charleston Coliseum. Both nights are understandably sold out, however Phish is offering a live webcast of the event. Visit Live Phish to prevent further FOMO on this already legendary run.

  • Turkuaz Kicks Kuadrochrome Tour into high gear with Sold Out Debut at FTC Warehouse

    Brooklyn-based Turkuaz got their latest Kuadrochrome tour rolling Thursday with a stop in Fairfield, CT. They sold out Fairfield Theatre Company’s Warehouse, and as they are known to do, turned the venue into a funkadelic dance party.

    Turkuaz brought a Philadelphia trio by the name of GREAT TIME from to open the evening. GREAT TIME was able to form the crowd early and definitely got them warming up their dance moves for what was to come.

    By the time Turkuaz hit the stage, the room was packed full and buzzing with energy. Everyone eagerly anticipated what was in store with the new tour. From opener to encore, the band delivered. They brought a 2-hour nonstop mix of new and old tunes with a sprinkling of cover material to which the crowd loved every minute. As far as tour openers go, you couldn’t have asked for much better of a night.

  • Caravan of Thieves and P.J. Pacifico Return to FTC Stage One

    Caravan of Thieves recently returned to Fairfield, CT, with singer/songwriter P.J. Pacifico opening the night. The fans, or as the Thieves dub them “the freaks,” were treated to some great displays of musical talent and passion at the intimate FTC Stage One venue.

    P.J. Pacifico kicked things off with his acoustic performance and the Stage One room was the perfect setting. The audience was so attentive to his songs and musicianship, at times you could hear a pin drop. P.J. thoroughly appreciated this and thanked the attendees a few times.

    Caravan of Thieves, fronted by Fuzz and Carrie Sangiovanni, changed up the pace of the evening with their high-energy gypsy rock. They were a unique performance and a pleasure to watch. The band came out swinging and didn’t stop until the closer, in which they came out into the crowd and everyone gathered around. It was a special moment and a fitting send off.
