StrangeCreek Campout 2015 Lineup Announced

Wormtown Trading has announced the lineup for the 3-day StrangeCreek Campout Music Festival May 22-25 2015 at Camp Kee-Wanee in Greenfield, Ma.

Get Strange with Max Creek, Zach Deputy, Consider The Source, and Central NY’s own Donna The Buffalo among many others across three stages this coming Memorial Day weekend.

Leading up to the festival, 36 bands will go head-to-head in three weeks of battle at four venues before heading to a week of semifinals and a final showdown on March 28. The winner of the 2015 StrangeCreek Battle of the Bands secures a spot in the festival’s lineup.

Tickets are going for $120 through May 10 (kids 12 and under are free).

Jon Fishman to Play Nectar’s 40th Celebration

Jam mecca Nectar’s in Burlington VT will be celebrating their 40th anniversary starting this Saturday and running through the end of March with Phish drummer Jon Fishman appropriately be part of the celebration

There will be a bluegrass show Mar. 26 with his previous Jazz Mandolin Project collaborator Jame Masefield along with guitarist Doug Perkins and bassist Tyler Bolles. As this show is sure to sell out you should grab tickets now. (h/t jambands.com)

The 40th extravaganza kicks off Feb 21 with a show featuring local musician Josh Panda and friends playing influential tunes from the year of Nectar’s birth – 1975.

UPDATED: Umphrey’s McGee Announce Surprise New Studio Album – ‘The London Session’

In a move no one was expecting – mid west jam champions Umphrey’s McGee announced a brand new studio album today titled The London Session.

Recorded at the famous Abbey Road studios in London – the album features 10 tracks that were recorded in one day. Release date is April 7 – but fans may pre-order now. Anyone who pre-orders will get an instant download of lead track “Bad Friday”.

The unexpected release features a selection of tracks from throughout the bands career and (appropriately) a Beatles cover. Check out the entire track list below:

Aqueous Spring Tour Includes Upstate Dates and Colorado Debut

Upstate favorites Aqueous have announced an extensive spring tour taking them all through the north east and mid west including a debut string of dates in Colorado.

The tour will kick off at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn Feb. 25. Other New York dates include Mar. 26 at Ithaca’s The Haunt, Syracuses’s Funk n Waffles Apr. 16, Saratoga Springs Apr 17, and a hometown show Apr. 18 in Buffalo at the Iron Works.

March will feature a five date string in Colorado including two trips to Denver. May and June launch festival season with stops at two Ohio festivals – May Daze in Franklin and Color Dance in Athens – concluding with a Memorial Day weekend for the third straight year at Summer Camp Music Festival.

Barenaked Ladies, Violent Femmes and Colin Hay to stop in Salamanca

The Barenaked Ladies will be joined by the Violent Femmes and Colin Hay on a summer tour that will stop in Salamanca, in Western New York. The Salamanca show will be held at at the Seneca Allegany Casino and Hotel on June 21. The tour will also hit New York City on July 1.

The extensive Last Summer on Earth Tour runs from June 5 to July 26, and makes stops from Maine to Florida, and Texas to Seattle.

Barenaked Ladies – Canada’s pre-eminent alternative band – will be promoting a new album they have coming out this summer that has yet to be given a title. Fans who buy a ticket for the tour get a free track from the new album and a digital download of the full album when it is released.

A pre-sale is going on now, and tickets for the general public go on sale Friday through Ticketmaster.

AC/DC Announce North American Tour Dates

Rock legends AC/DC have announced a slew of North American dates for their first tour in five years.

The tour will support their new album Rock or Bust – released in November 2014. The North American dates in August and September add to a European run from May through July.

Upstate fans who want to see the band will have a little driving to do. The band won’t touch down in New York, but they kick off the North American leg with a show at Foxborough Stadium in Massachusetts Aug 22. Then they head to East Rutherford, N.J.

Several Canadian dates will come close to Upstate, including Quebec City on Aug. 28, Montreal on Aug. 31, Ottawa on Sep. 3 and Toronto on Sep. 10.

Guitarist Malcolm Young, a founding member of the band, has retired due to dementia, and his nephew, Stevie Young, replaced him for Rock or Bust and will continue to do so on the tour. Drummer Phil Rudd is in the midst of legal troubles and will be replaced — at least on this tour — by Chris Slade, a previous drummer who has rejoined the band.

Tickets for most shows go on sale Monday, Feb. 16 – except for the San Francisco date – which goes on sale Sunday, Feb. 15. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.

Def Leppard To Pour Some Sugar on Upstate w/ Styx and Tesla

Get out your spandex and Aqua-Net – 80’s hair metal pioneers Def Leppard are making several Upstate visits on their just announced 2015 summer tour, and sailing along for the ride are Styx and Tesla. Tour kicks off June 23 in Tampa, Florida. New York will be able to go Def July 11 in Bethel, July 12 at Darien Lake, July 23 in Wantagh and July 24 at Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

Fans that join the Rock Brigade Concert Club can get an early VIP shot at tickets Feb. 17 – general public can purchase Feb. 20 at 10am EST. Check the whole tour out below.

The Original Stuck Mojo Lineup Reunites, New Album on the Way

Atlanta, Georgia rap metal pioneers Stuck Mojo, who recently played in their hometown back in December, announced last week they are working on new material. This marks the first time since 1998’s Rising that the original lineup of Rich Ward (guitar), Frank Fontsere (drums), Bonz (vocals), and Corey Lowery (bass) have worked together.

Ward, who has kept busy with Fozzy with Fontsere has stated:

“[Bonz is] doing great, he looks great, we’re getting along great, and so far, knock on wood, he seems like he’s dealt with all his demons and he’s sorted that part of his life out that [he needed to take care of in order] for me to move forward with him. So I’m feeling good about it. And I also have four other partners in FOZZY that, obviously, are wanting to tour and stuff, so I need to be mindful and respectful to everything — not only the guys in STUCK MOJO, but also to my FOZZY family — and make sure that if I’m working on STUCK MOJO, it’s because Chris (Jericho) is back in the WWE doing a little, short run, which he does from time to time. And that works out good for me. That way he’s working on something else, and I can do the same.”

On Saturday, Stuck Mojo announced their second reunion show at the Amos’ Southend in Charlotte, NC on Friday April 17. No further shows announced as of yet.

Tool and Mastodon Members Unite to Form The Legend of the Seagullmen

For those fans waiting for the upcoming Tool album who haven’t disintegrated into dust yet – here’s some good news to tide you over: “Best drummer ever” candidate Danny Carey and Mastodon lead axe man Brent Hinds (Whom also recently awesomely got himself booted out of the Grammy’s) are joining forces with OFF!’s Dimitri Coats and producer Jimmy Hayward for the nautically themed super group The Legend of the Seagullmen.

While no touring, album release, or additional information has yet to be provided, the band did drop two new tunes on their website: “The Deep Sea Driver” and “Ships Wreck”. Check em out below.

Faith No More Announce Release Date For New Album: Sol Invictus

Finally! After years and years – fans waiting for the San Francisco CA hard rock band to put out some new material can finally rest happy knowing Sol Invictus is coming May 19.

This will be the 7th release for Faith No More since their inception way back in 1981. The band has released a few singles in advance on YouTube – check them out below. While Upstate will miss out on any local dates – those that “care a lot” can make a road trip to Toronto May 9 or hit NYC May 13-14 for a weekend FNM experience.
