  • Trapt’s Brown And Shinedown’s Myers Beef Heats Up On Social Media

    Chris Taylor Brown, frontman for Trapt, started a social media beef/war of the words Wednesday night in trying to clear his name about comments Zach Myers from Shinedown posted on Facebook, as reported by NYSMusic. This prompted Trapt’s Official Facebook page to post a reply to Myers statement before it was removed from the page hours later.

    Brown posted a statement through the bands Facebook page that included the screen shot from the article. The two began posting back and forth for a couple of hours taking jabs at each other. Both even responded to fans standing up for their respective bands. A small transcript was taken from the post before it was removed hours later starting off with them making fun of their user names.

    Zach: This is your “official” page (Crying Emoticon)

    Trapt: Ok Zach Myers SHINEDOWN……

    Trapt: I started this band, I can use this forum for whatever name clearing activities I see fit.

    Trapt: He fucking lied! He was the one who was silent when I walked up to him…. Shinedown gives most of the money they make on albums and a large portion of everything else to a major label (automatic #1’s) and a manager. We do not and never will again.

    Trapt: I did not even get into the shit he has been sayin about me. He is being two faced and a lot of you are falling for it ….

  • Ice Cube announces new Dr Dre album

    After 16 years the wait may finally be over for Dr Dre fans as it has been announced that Dre will be releasing a new album.

    dr dre ice cubeFormer NWA member, Ice Cube, announced on Wednesday that Dre was working on the soundtrack to the upcoming NWA biopic, Straight Outta Compton. Although Dr. Dre had told Rolling Stone in March that he was working on something new, he is not expected to announce the album until Saturday on his Beats 1 radio show, The Pharmacy.

    Without releasing an album in over a decade Dre has remained significant in the music community through producing and his collaborations. The new album is rumored to have musical guests such as Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and a possible NWA reunion. The album will contain all new music entirely produced by Dre. It has been speculated that some of the tracks could be from his famously postponed album Detox. Collaborators have said the rapper is distancing himself from the 2001 follow up because of songs leaked in 2009.

    Straight Outta Compton will be released August 14. However the release date of the album is still unclear.

  • Trapt’s Chris Taylor Brown Gets in Argument With Local Band in New Jersey

    Singer Chris Taylor Brown of Trapt reportedly got into an argument the day after their performance at K-Rockathon 20 in Syracuse. On Sunday, July 26, Brown can be seen arguing with local bad Too Far Lost at the Stanhope House in New Jersey before his band mate ushered him away. A 30-second cell phone video clip popped up on Youtube showing the altercation.

    Too Far Lost was one of the opening acts for Trapt that night. According to Andy Bane, frontman for another opening band on the bill called Dangerkids, Trapt told Too Far Lost band members that they could not sell their merch at the show. Bane also stated that Brown proceeded to call the band fat, worthless and told Too Far Lost members, “You’re in a local band so you don’t matter.”

    Zach Myers, guitarist for Shinedown, posted a response on a fan’s Facebook page that posted about the Brown incident. Myers said Brown talked $#!t about Brent Smith of Shinedown, and Brent confronted Brown at K-Rockathon, though Brown ignored Brent and the band. Brown later posted on social media that his band Trapt was better than Shinedown. On Monday, Brown released a video on the band’s

    Alternative Press reported that Trapt and Bane were bantering back and forth on Facebook. The post has since been taken down. Bane posted,

    “You make a post about bullying and then an hour later tell one of your openings bands (who were required to sell tickets to your shitty show) that they can’t sell their merch? Call them fat and worthless and ‘you’re in a local band you don’t matter?’ Sorry ‘Headstrong’ hasn’t been relevant in over 10 years. Maybe you should hang it up.”

    This prompted Trapt to reply by posting:

    “Worry about your own band and your own career and maybe writing a song that people like. Our one Top 40 hit, that was the biggest alternative song of last decade, is one of our 12 songs that crossed at least the top 20 in rock, so I guess you can only have a hit if [it’s] on pop stations in your opinion. Douchebag.”

    Trapt also posted:

    “‘Headstrong’ makes more money yearly than you’ve made in your whole life. You’re so dangerous… No one said they can’t sell merch. That band wanted 3 fucking tables and we wanted our main support to have at least 1 table. That girl in the video bitched and said then we will take our stuff and leave and we said go ahead and then that local band said if they didn’t go out and sell tickets than no one would be at the show, all 20 tickets they sold. The second local was [way] better and did a much better job promoting the show and selling the [tickets]… We rely on hard-working local bands to promote Trapt when we come to town. Fuck you! See you out there sometime!

  • STS9 Making Two New York Stops on 2015 Fall Tour

    STS9 has announced its 2015 Fall Tour, and highlighting the 22-show trek are two stops in New York. On October 25, the jamtronica act will headline the Town Ballroom in Buffalo before weaving its way through the Ohio, Pennsylvania and Maryland before landing back in the Empire State for a November 5 show at the Best Buy Theater.

  • Eminem / Dr. Dre Rep Says No Plans for N.W.A Tour

    Rolling Stone reported that a rep for Dr. Dre and Eminem stated that the duo have no plans to tour together either solo or with N.W.A.

    N.W.AWith all the buzz about the biopic movie Straight Outta Compton coming out in theater’s on Aug. 14, and with Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella performing together for the first time in 26 years at The BET Experience in California, rumors were flying.  It also doesn’t help Eminem’s strong ties to Dr. Dre and that he appears on the soundtrack for the N.W.A movie.

    The rumored reunion tour had Eminem playing the role of Easy-E. Eric “Easy E” Wright died on March 26, 1995 from the AIDS virus. The planned tour was speculated to take place in Europe on the same day as the movie release date.

    N.W.A debuted in 1986 and has sold over 10 million records in the U.S. The group was known for being one of the first gangster rap groups in history with their lyrical hatred towards the police and women and the glorification of drug use and guns.

    After the band split, Dr. Dre and Ice Cube went on to have successful solo music careers. Dre has also become a very successful entrepreneur. He has produced many music artist to go along with his former brand of headphones called “Beats,” which he sold for 3 billion dollars to Apple. Ice Cube has gone on to also become a successful movie actor and filmmaker.

  • Just Announced: PearlPalooza 2015 To Bring Matisyahu and Local Talent To Free Street Fest

    Before the summer is over there, is a time and place for an awesome mix of live music on the street and that time and place is Sept. 12 in Albany. The sixth annual 2015 PearlPalooza just announced the lineup for the street festival with national and local acts:

    Matisyahu, the hasidic reggae rapper from Brooklyn who rose to fame with his 2005 hit single “King Without a Crown.”
    The Moth & The Flame, an alternative rock band originally from Utah but now based in Los Angeles.
    Until the Ribbon Breaks, a three-piece British group that blends “electronic, pop, rock, hip-hop, alternative, avant-garde, R&B.”
    Turbo Fruits, a garage rock band from Nashville, Tennessee.
    Wild Adriatic, an Albany-based band that plays a bluesy, soul-infused kind of rock.
    Better By Morning, an alternative group from Saratoga Springs.

    PearlPalooza 2015 Speaking of local acts, Wild Adriatic got a bit of attention this year as they performed a set at Bonnaroo after winning a bracket-style battle of the bands.

    PearlPalooza 2015 is free and takes place on Pearl Street in Albany from 1 to 8 p.m. Tickets for special viewing areas and meet-and-greets with the bands are available for a reasonable price online.

  • The Motet Announces Fall Tour Dates and a Midwest Halloween Run

    With August just days away, touring bands are beginning to release their fall tour dates, including some exceptionally special Halloween shows. The Motet has done just that, letting fans know that this Halloween will be an ode to one of the funkiest decades in history. Designating it “Mixtape 1977,” the Colorado funk band is taking their annual Halloween tradition on the road with stops in Des Moines, IA, Minneapolis, MN, Milwaukee, WI and Chicago.

    The Motet has kept with tradition in the past holding Halloween shows held in their home state. With a new twist on things, they are spreading the love this fall, giving fans in the Midwest an opportunity to get in on the experience. Colorado fans can look forward to a new tradition with The Motet’s “Hometown Hustle” at The Ogden Theatre on November 13 and 14. Friday’s show will feature Chicago electro-funk band The Main Squeeze. For Saturday, The Motet will be rolling out the “Spirit of ’77.” This will feature a special second set of music from their Halloween shows “Mixtape 1977.”

    In addition to the “Mixtape 1977” mini tour and “Hometown Hustle,” The Motet is hitting a number of festivals including Catskill Chill, Summer Meltdown, Phases of the Moon and Magnolia Festival.  With stops in Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Arkansas, Arizona, Massachusetts and New York, The Motet will be covering a handful of states other than the above mentioned theme nights.

  • Avenged Sevenfold Says Goodbye To Drummer Arin Ilejay

    Future metal drummers of the world: Get your audition tapes ready. How would you like to be the next man banging the sticks for Avenged Sevenfold? Well there’s an opening behind cymbals as band members announced that they have parted ways with current drummer Arin Ilejay due to “creative differences.”

    Arin Ilejay was the band’s second drummer after he replaced fan favorite James “The Rev” Sullivan. Sullivan passed away on Dec. 28, 2009 at the age of 28. Sullivan’s cause of death was from acute polydrug intoxication from mixing the drugs oxymorphone, oxycodone, diazepam and ethanol.

    The band posted a statement on its website and social media about the parting.

    We are writing this to inform you all that we will be moving forward without Arin IIejay as our drummer. Arin has been nothing but a positive energy and monster drummer for us over the past 4 years. We love the guy and always will. We are and will always be grateful to him for helping us to move forward through some very dark times. Creatively though, we felt we needed to move in a different direction. While we can’t say more at this time, we are excited for the future and looking forward to sharing our plans soon with the greatest fans in the world.     The band had plans to record its seventh studio album this summer to be released in 2016. This could add a speed bump in those plans.

  • David Gilmour Adds Radio City Music Hall Date in April

    In support of Rattle That Lock, David Gilmour at first had only announced four U.S. dates. Ticket demands quickly prompted second dates at each of those four cities. Some exciting news has come that Gilmour has added a third NYC date. He will take to the much smaller than MSG space of Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, April 10 making it the first of his now three nights in NYC. Tickets go on sale Thursday Dec. 3 at 10 am on Ticketmaster. Special presale times are listed on Ticketmaster.

    David Gilmour Radio CityThe renowned guitarist behind Pink Floyd announced a new solo album last week, Rattle That Lock, and a four North America tour dates which went on sale the next day. The extraordinary response to that ticket sale brought about second chances for people to partake in the limited opportunity.

    Rattle That Lock is Gilmour’s first solo album since his 2006 release On An Island. Along with the announcement came a preview of the album with the title track hitting the internet.

    The song deviates slightly from elements used on his previous solo album and the final two Pink Floyd releases, The Division Bell and The Endless River, where he was the driving creative force. It calls back a bit to his older solo works, which brings speculation about what we might — or might not — hear when the album debuts on Sept. 18.

    David Gilmour Rattle That Lock

    Gilmour’s first four tour dates garnered a lot of hype, with tickets for the Madison Square Garden show becoming slim pickings soon after they went on sale. High hopes became grounded as Gilmour announced four more dates to make each of his stops a two-night affair.

    He will now play Madison Square Garden on April 11 and 12, 2016. Tickets for the just-announced April 12 show go on sale in less than a week, starting at 10 a.m. on July 27. As with last week’s ticket sales, every ticket buyer for the newly announced shows will receive a copy of Rattle That Lock.

    Tickets are available through Ticketmaster and Gilmour’s website.

  • German House Announces Fall 2015 Schedule

    The German House in Rochester, N.Y. has recently released their fall concert schedule kicking off on September 12. The historic western New York concert venue, promoted by Up All Night Concerts, has six performances scheduled from a variety of genres this fall.

    Opening the concert series on September 12 is Ani Difranco, Buffalo native and a prominent folk-rock singer-songwriter. Difranco has been nominated for 9 Grammy awards, winning for Best Recording Package in 2004 for her album Evolve. Difranco is a world-wide icon in the feminist and LGBT communities, known for her outspoken participation in social movements and her lyrics about progressive social issues.

    Taking the stage on October 10 is David Bromberg, a bluegrass and folk performer known for his proficiency on a multitude of instruments. The 69-year old from Philadelphia has played with Jerry Garcia, Bob Dylan and George Harrison in his career.

    On October 31, Halloween night, Driftwood will perform at the German House. The 4-piece Binghamton folk band has recorded three studio albums and has a well-known presence in the Upstate New York music scene.

    Donna the Buffalo will play on November 13, with Peter Rowan performing as a special guest. Donna the Buffalo is a Finger Lakes group that embraces the southern Zydeco variant of Louisiana bluegrass. Rowan is a Boston bluegrass guitarist and yodeler who has been active in music since 1963.

    On December 4, Max Creek will perform. The Boston-oriented rock band was influenced by Grateful Dead and plays many psychedelic jam tunes. Phish bassist Mike Gordon has referred to Max Creek as one of his favorite bands.

    Concluding the fall concert series is Delbert McClinton, the rugged blues player from Lubbock, Texas. McClinton has had four blues albums reach number 1 on the charts, and also has had some success on the country scene as well.
