  • Forecastle Festival Announces 2014 Lineup

    Coming out of Louisville, KY today was the announcement of this year’s diverse lineup for the 2014 Forecastle Festival. This years headliners are Outkast, Jack White, and Beck. The under card for the festival is one of the strongest of the season so far. The recently reunited Replacements, Spoon, Band of Horses, Dwight Yoakam and Gary Clark Jr. are on the bill.  A couple of female fronted New York bands –  Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings and Lucius, are going to be at the festival in mid-July as well.

    Other bands playing Forecastle Festival 2014 include JJ Grey and Mofro, Nickle Creek, Slint, The Black Lips, Local Natives, Reignwolf, and Sharon Von Etten. Last year’s festival got rave reviews from all over the country and this year’s line up looks like it will produce more of the same. Festival tickets go on sale Friday March 7th at Noon, with single day and late night shows happening closer to the festival. Stay tuned as we will update you when both of those are announced.

  • Devil Makes Three Coming to Water Street Music Hall

    The Devil Makes Three is a folk-rockabilly-bluegrassy trio originating from nearby Brattleboro, VT – they will be traveling through Rochester, NY on their upcoming Spring Tour.

    The group of friends left the East Coast and headed West to California, where they became, The Devil Makes Three in 2001 and have spent the last decade building a fan base from coast to coast. The trio has graced the stages of festivals such as – Delfest, Bonnaroo, and Austin City Limits. They are a force to be reckoned with without a doubt.

    The band will play Water Street Music Hall in Rochester, NY with Joe Fletcher & the Wrong Reasons on April 23, the doors open at 7:30PM, this show is at 8PM, Ages 16+ tickets are $15 and can be purchased HERE.

  • And the Final 2014 Mountain Jam Headliner is…

    The Allman Brothers Band is the headliner for the 10th annual Mountain Jam Festival to be held June 5-8, 2014. Making a return to the mountain, the Allman Brothers Band will perform a special set in which they will play their first two legendary albums in their entirety, The Allman Brothers Band and Idlewild South.

    This is a big year for the Allman Brothers Band, including an earlier announcement that guitarists Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks will be departing the band at the conclusion of 2014. Founding member, Gregg Allman also noted that this might be the final year of touring while the Allman Brothers Band is celebrating their 45th anniversary.

    Coincidently, Gov’t Mule is celebrating its 20th year and Mountain Jam is in its 10th year, inevitably marking this years festival a big anniversary party. Mountain Jam founder Gary Chetkof stated, “we really aimed to bring the best of the last 9 years back for this year’s milestone and having The Allman Brothers on board feels extremely fitting. The Festival takes its name from one of The Allman Brothers’ most beloved songs and I don’t think there will be a dry eye at the conclusion of their set.”

    Mountain Jam also welcomes back Robert Randolph and the Family Band. Robert Randolph and his band performed at the first three Mountain Jams and are currently touring in support of their latest release, Lickety Split.

  • New Record Holder For Spotify’s Streaming Service

    Music streaming giant, Spotify has recently boasted about their most popularly streamed artist – Swedish DJ and music producer Avicii. His “Wake Me Up” is the new record holder for Spotify’s music streaming service, with 200 million streams and counting, according to their twitter account.

    “Wake Me Up” was released in June 2013 and was the first single off the debut studio album, True. The song features uncredited vocals from American soul singer Aloe Blacc and Incubus’ Mike Einzinger who played acoustic guitar on the collaboration.

  • The Head and The Heart Celebrating Memorial Day at Upstate Concert Hall

    The Head and The Heart are coming to Albany’s Upstate Concert Hall on May 26th to celebrate Memorial Day. The band released their second album Let’s Be Still last fall and have been touring behind it since last fall. Their folk-rock music can soothe whatever is ailing you with wonderful harmonies and beautiful instrumentation. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 AM, be sure to grab some.

  • Cher With Special Guest Cyndi Lauper To Visit The First Niagara Center in Buffalo

    Cher will be bringing her Dressed To Kill Tour through Buffalo, NY at the First Niagara Center on Wednesday, April 23rd. The Dressed To Kill tour starts on March 22 in Phoenix, Arizona with Pat Benatar as special guest for the first 13 dates.

    Cyndi Lauper will be taking over for Pat Benatar as special guest for 36 dates on the tour which will start in Buffalo, NY. Cher’s current singles “ Take It Like A Man” and “Womans World”  have been on the top of the Billboard Dance Charts. Both singles come from her latest album, Closer To The Truth which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Pop Charts. Tickets are currently on sale through First Niagara Center.

  • Morrissey Announces Two New York Summer Appearances

    Morrissey announced today that he will be touring the United States this summer and will be stopping in New York for two shows near the end of the tour.  On June 16th, he will be bringing his great body of work to the Artpark Main Stage Theater in Lewiston, NY.  Five days later on the 21st, he will be closing the tour out at The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY with special guest Sir Cliff Richard, Kristeen Young will be opening at both shows.

    This tour is in support of an as of now yet unreleased new album that should be out by the time the tour starts.  Morrissey has had trouble recently with tours being cancelled part way through, so here is hoping that this tour goes off without any problems.  Ticketing information will be released soon.

  • Willie Nelson and Family With Co-Headliner Alison Krauss and Union Station Announce Tour

    Willie Nelson & Family and Alison Krauss and Union Station with Jerry Douglas have announced a co-headlining  tour that will pass through Upstate New York this June.  With 35 shows happening this summer on the tour, New York is very lucky to have four chances of seeing this great pairing.Willie Nelson Alison Krauss

    On June 7, the tour will hit The Artpark in Lewiston, while the next night will see the tour head down to the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel.  For those in New York City, the show will make a stop at the beautiful Radio City Music Hall on June 10.  Wrapping up the month on June 21, the CMAC Performing Arts Center in Canandaigua will host this great show.  Joining the headliners on these dates will be up-comer Kacey Musgraves.

    This tour marks the first time Willie Nelson and Alison Krauss will have toured together. Ticketing info will be released shortly.

  • The Boss Coming to The Albany Times Union Center – May 13th

    Springsteen High Hopes

    Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will be bringing their legendary show to Albany’s Times Union Center on May 13.  This is part of the first leg of United States dates for Bruce since 2012.  Bruce is known for pushing the envelope at concerts, with not only playing his own numbers, but covering great old rock numbers as well as taking requests from audience members.

    The last time he came to Albany in 2007, it was Danny Federici’s second to last show as a full member of The E Street Band before passing away in 2008.  There have been plenty of changes in the band since that stop in Albany.  Clarence Clemons has also passed away, a four-part horn section and a chorus have been added, and on some occasions Tom Morello plays in the band too.

    They will be supporting his latest record, High Hopes, which came out last month.  Tickets will be going on sale this Friday, February 14 at 10AM. Tickets are going to go quick for these as this is the only New York show of the tour at the moment.  Don’t sleep in on Friday and make sure you get tickets to what is going to be one of the hottest shows of the Spring.
