Finally, it’s that time of the year again. The official line-up for this years Rockstar Energy Drink’s Mayhem Festival has been officially announced. Time to put all the rumors to bed and see which ones were true and which ones were just actually rumors.
Founded by Kevin Lyman and John Reese in 2008, Mayhem has now become an annual event to kick off every summer.
This years festival will mark the seventh annual event for this summers tour and will hit over 20 different cities. The tour will be headlined by Avenged Sevenfold and Korn and will round out to 19 bands in all. Korn headlined the festival in 2010 and Avenged Sevenfold appeared on the same tour for only 2 dates in July.
James “Munkey” Schaeffer, guitarist from Korn enlightened us to this information in a video interview at NAMM.
The 2014 lineup will also include the likes of Asking Alexandria, Trivium, Cannibal Corpse, Suicide Silence, Miss May I, Mushroomhead, Emmure, Texas Hippie Coalition, Veil of Maya, Upon a Burning Body, Darkest Hour, Body Count, Ill Nino, Wretched, King 810, Erihma and Islander.
Rockstar’s Mayhem Festival usually consist of bands in the Hard Rock/Heavy Metal genre style of music. There are also a lot of sub-genre band styles like nu-metal, metalcore, thrash metal, groove metal and industrial metal to name a few.
The Festival was a three stage event until 2013 when a fourth stage was added. The Main stage, the Jagermeister stage and a third has been rotated by sponsors’ like Hot Topic in 2008 and 2009, Silver Star in 2010, Revolver in 2011, Sumerian Records in 2012 and 2013 and last years third stage was sponsored by the Musicians Institute.
The festival is a must for all rock fans. Not only is there kick @$$ live music, but you have the Metal Mulisha as a side attraction.
Most of the bands that participate on the tour have meet-and-greets at various locations throughout each venue and how can you beat all the free samples of new Rockstar flavors you can handle under the Rockstar Tent.
The Hudson Project has come to the festival scene with a bang with its initial lineup announcement this week. With an eye towards diversity, the festival has something for everyone that could see a great mix of people traveling to Saugerties, NY come the weekend of July 11th-13th. The headliners for the festival are Kendrick Lamar, Bassnectar, Modest Mouse, and The Flaming Lips. Some of the other big names include, Sound Tribe Sector Nine, Big Gigantic, Moby (DJ set), Matt & Kim, The New Deal, Dr. Dog, Flying Lotus, Lettuce, Infected Mushroom, ZZ Ward, Marco Benevento, Twiddle, and TAUK.
There will be more than 85 acts at the festival on four stages, as well as a fifth performance space, interactive art installations, carnival rides and a game center. All of this with the beautiful Catskill Mountains serving as the backdrop for the festival could wind up being one of the best New York has seen in a while. Taking place where Woodstock ’94 happened gives the festival a little sense of history as well.

There are also going to be shuttles and buses running all weekend from various locations in New York. Tickets are on sale now at the festival’s website. Night Lights Fall Music Festival is only venturing into their fourth year, but they packed a serious punch in terms of talent when they made their initial announcement this past week. Also known as “The Carnival of Lights,” the annual festival takes place at The Heron, located just outside of Jamestown, NY, and is set for the weekend of September 12th and 13th this year. Night Lights is unique in the sense that, besides great music, it packs a visual light show that is set up throughout the venue’s sprawling forest. It’s something that you really need to see in person as pictures only paint part of the picture.
The festival is looking to climb to the top of the region with a huge headliner. Fresh off their Grammy win and with enough hype to carry them for the rest of their careers, Snarky Puppy will be making their return to the region to try to one-up Marco Benevento’s incredible performance from last year. The lineup doesn’t drop off from there – with support from Turkuaz, The Mike Dillon Band, Consider the Source, Jimkata, Aqueous, The Manhattan Project, Smackdab, Lazlo Hollyfeld, and many more. The organizers have even stated that a “few more doozies” are soon to be announced.
Early bird tickets are on sale now for $60, but only for a limited time, so get them quick! This is easily the best lineup for Night Lights yet, making it one of the must-see festivals in the Western NY region this year. Keep your eyes peeled for future announcements, as this one is only going to get better!

Rounding out the mid summer festival season with a variety of performances, Vibes promises four days of unique musical experiences and collaborations, friendship renewals and spiritual awakenings – traditional VibeTribe happenings – founded on celebrating the life of Jerry Garcia.
Gathering of the Vibes will return to Bridgeport, CT from July 31 – August 3, 2014. Widespread Panic and John Fogerty are making their first appearances to the festival. As southern rock outfits perfectly suited for the other, on stage collaborations are likely. The biggest surprise to this year’s lineup and perhaps the most talked about is the appearance of the Disco Biscuits featuring Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann. Keeping with the Dead theme, this promises to add an element of unique musical styling and soundscape. Rounding out the Grateful tradition will be performances by Dark Star Orchestra, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead and Keller Williams Grateful Grass.

The Allman Brothers Band is the headliner for the 10th annual Mountain Jam Festival to be held June 5-8, 2014. Making a return to the mountain, the Allman Brothers Band will perform a special set in which they will play their first two legendary albums in their entirety, The Allman Brothers Band and Idlewild South.
This is a big year for the Allman Brothers Band, including an earlier announcement that guitarists Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks will be departing the band at the conclusion of 2014. Founding member, Gregg Allman also noted that this might be the final year of touring while the Allman Brothers Band is celebrating their 45th anniversary.
Coincidently, Gov’t Mule is celebrating its 20th year and Mountain Jam is in its 10th year, inevitably marking this years festival a big anniversary party. Mountain Jam founder Gary Chetkof stated, “we really aimed to bring the best of the last 9 years back for this year’s milestone and having The Allman Brothers on board feels extremely fitting. The Festival takes its name from one of The Allman Brothers’ most beloved songs and I don’t think there will be a dry eye at the conclusion of their set.”
Mountain Jam also welcomes back Robert Randolph and the Family Band. Robert Randolph and his band performed at the first three Mountain Jams and are currently touring in support of their latest release, Lickety Split.
