  • All I Want For X-Mas is More Nugs: Aqueous Releases 4th Live Album

    Buffalo’s buzztastic groove rockers Aqueous have announced a New Years Eve release date for the fourth release in their Live Nugs series. The Nugs started smoking in 2010 with Volume One and Two, then took a two year hiatus before returning with Volume Three in 2012 prior to the groups debut at moe. Down 12. The discs feature an assortment of tracks from the bands live shows for each era. Live Nugs: Volume 4 has a mere five tracks running an astounding 73 minutes. Like jams? Us too! Beyond that, it is also the first in the series to feature 100% original material. It will be available for purchase at the bands New Years Eve celebration in Erie, PA at the crooked i and online in 2014.

  • The Final Shows at Valentines Slated for December 20+21

    A monumental shift in the Albany jamband scene is upon us – Valentine’s, located at 17 New Scotland Ave in Albany, a longtime haven for bands like moe. Conehead Buddha, Ominous Seapods and many others passing through the area, will be closing its doors on New Years Eve.

    Albany area promoter Greg Bell of Guthrie Bell Productions will present his final weekend of shows at Valentines on December 20th and 21st. On Friday, two of the venue’s past favorites will reunite, FreeBeerandChicken and Wreckloose, with doors at 8pm and show at 9:30. Cover is $10. On Saturday, Albany favorites Peter Prince and Moonboot Lover, Dr. Jah and the Love Prophets, and Subduing Mara will perform. Doors at 8, show at 9 with a $15 cover. Both shows are 18+

    Come celebrate the historical relationship between Valentine’s and Guthrie Bell Productions with friends and family throughout the Capital District! This night will be one for the books and will be there to bring you all the details of this sure to be infamous night of music and farewells.

  • Mike Gordon Band Coming to the Northeast and Releasing a New Album Next Year

    In very exciting news this week, Mike Gordon band will be releasing a new album, Overstep, on February 25 and supporting it with a tour that crosses the country.  The tour will start at the fabulous Westcott Theater in Syracuse, NY on February 28th and the next night at Webster Hall in New York City.  The tour will see Mike and his band go across the United States before coming back a month later to wrap up the tour at MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA on April 5th and Higher Ground in Burlington, VT on April 6th.

    The new album will be his first since Moss in 2010.  Mike shared songwriting duties with guitarist and longtime collaborator Scott Murawski (Max Creek) and handed over the producing reins for the first time in his solo career, enlisting Paul Q. Kolderie (Radiohead, Uncle Tupelo, Pixies). He also invited a few new players into the studio, including legendary drummer Matt Chamberlain (Jon Brion, Fiona Apple).  Mike will be joined on the road by his longtime band – Scott Murawski (guitar), Craig Myers (percussion), Tom Cleary (keyboards) and Todd Isler (drums). It was also announced that the band’s new repertoire will be augmented by hints of secret synesthetic mad scientist gadgetry on and around the stage.  This can only mean very exciting things to come from these shows.

    Tickets are on sale now at Mike’s website, with public sales starting this weekend.

  • GEMINI SYNDROME Invades the East Coast with MINDSET EVOLUTION and STARSET

    This fall, Gemini Syndrome tours with Mindset Evolution and Starset in support of the release of their debut record, Lux.

    GEMINI SYNDROME:

    Hailing from Los Angeles, California, this metal quintet consists of Aaron Nordstrom (vocals), Rich Juzwick (guitars), Mike Salerno (guitars), Alessandro “AP” Paveri (bass), and Brian Steele Medina (drums). They have shared the stage with bands such as Nonpoint and Murderdolls, and have often been compared bands like Disturbed and Stone Sour. After releasing their EP in 2011, the band was eventually signed by Warner Bros. Records and their debut album was released in September 2013. By the looks of it, Gemini Syndrome is ready to show the concert junkies what they have in store for them.

    Having toured with major bands such as Hinder, Seether, Breaking Benjamin, and Avenged Sevenfold, the small five-pieced band from Peoria, Illinois features the talents of Rob Ulrich (vocals), Brad Prentice (guitars), Skyler Baer (guitars), Josh Bodeen (bass), and Joey Gibbz (drums). They have been touring in support of the summer release of their debut album, Brave, Bold, and Broken. Mindset Evolution is more than ready to knock everyone out of the ballpark with their killer performance.

  • Mike Gordon set to Bring His Band to MASS MoCA This Coming Spring

    In what is sure to end up being the beginning sign of a full-fledged tour, Mike Gordon will be bringing his band to the Hunter Center at MASS MoCA on April 5th, 2014.  It was announced on Wednesday via iberkshires that he would be playing a date during MASS MoCA’s Spring Season, marking the first announced shows with his solo band in almost two years. The most recent lineup of Mike Gordon Band included Scott Murawski on guitar, Craig Myers on percussion, Tom Cleary on keys and Todd Isler on drums. Expect an announcement from the man himself in the near future, but for tickets and more information on the show, visit MassMOCA.org.

  • Billy Joel to Play Madison Square Garden Once a Month, Every Month

    Rumors had been swirling ever since a press conference for a Billy Joel event at Madison Sqaure Garden was announced last week.  The speculation varied from playing a show once a month for just the year, to playing a different album for four announced shows.  The announcement ended up being that Billy Joel will play at the legendary venue as “the first-ever music franchise” and will play the building once a month for the foreseeable future. This is the first time a venue, anywhere in the country, has done something like this.

    The Piano Man was already scheduled to play the venue on January 27, February 3, March 21, and April 18 next year.  With this announcement, a birthday show is scheduled for May 9 when Billy turns 65, has been added.  The plan is to continue to play shows as long as their is demand for there to be more.   Billy also got his own logo for the venue to go alongside The Knicks, Rangers, and Liberty.  More shows will be announced in the future.  If you are a fan of The Entertainer, there is no reason to not go down to the Garden in the near future and catch one of these shows.

    Billy was quoted at the press conference saying, “Performing at Madison Square Garden is a thrilling experience. I’ve played different venues all over the world, but there’s no place like coming home to The Garden. Since my first show in 1978, I’ve always looked forward to the energy of the crowd. I’m honored to be joining the Madison Square Garden family and look forward to taking the stage of the newly transformed Garden to create many more memorable nights.”  More information can be found at the new website for the partnership here.

    Tickets for the May 9 show have a presale that started on December 4 at 10AM and goes until Friday and a general on sale on December 7 at 10AM.

  • Buffalo Based Blue Stream Productions Announces Nietzsche’s Partnership

    BSPIMAGEBlue Stream Productions (BSP) an Upstate New York based artist management agency, has announced a partnership with Nietzsche’s located at 248 Allen St. in Buffalo, NY.

    BSP will start promoting and presenting a few shows a month at the hallowed musical venue that has hosted thousands of top notch shows over the past 30 years. BSP president/founder Josh Holtzman will be handling the bookings and plans to bring tons of great music and up and coming talent to the Western, NY region.

    Nietzche’s is open daily from 12 Noon – 4AM with live music every night. Parking is limited to the street, but taking public transit to the venue is a breeze.

  • moe. Rocks The Palace Theatre & Rings In The New Year With Special Guests

    Albany’s Palace Theatre welcomes rock band moe. for a two night New Year’s Eve run! Eastbound Jesus, a northern rock band from Greenwich, New York, will accompany them on December 30th, and the talented horn section of 90’s jam band Conehead Buddha will join them on stage for a full set on the 31st.

    The members of Conehead Buddha are long-time friends of moe. and joined them at their festival in Turin, NY this past August. This band has been around since the 90’s, when ska became popular in the U.S. For anyone who does not know them, their album Rockets is well known among ska fans, putting them in the same realm as Sublime musically. After taking a small break from touring, this band has found their second wind, and has again been taking crowds in the North East on a ride. No set list necessary, this band “feels out the scene” and plays a show that is well-suited for almost any kind of crowd. The horn section consists of Shaun Bazylewicz on trombone, Terry Lynch on trumpet, Shannon Lynch on saxophone and flute. These musicians have an upbeat, talented style that allows them to sit in successfully with bands over a multitude of genres.

  • Ocupanther Playing a Free Show at Dub Land Underground in Rochester on December 6th

    Rochester New York’s Ocupanther has had a big year. Between their critically acclaimed spring 2013 release Progressor and multiple appearances with some major league artists, including Marco Benevento, Schleigho, The Grandmothers of Invention, Jimkata, Twiddle and more, the band is gaining some well deserved traction in the music loving community.

    They will bring this buzz and their own unique brand of progressive filthy funk psychedelia to the Dub Land Underground for a free two set hometown show. December 6th, 18+ 10PM FREE (surcharge for under 21). Mark your calenders now, this show is not to be missed!
