His extensive discography ranges from his 2004 jazz album, <em>Times in New Orleans<\/em>, to his 2023 concept album, <em>World Music Now. <\/em>Jazz legends such as John Coltrane and Miles Davis are a heavy influence on Batiste&#8217;s music, as well as the soul and funk of Stevie Wonder and James Brown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dev.nysmusic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-6-8.jpg\" alt=\"Jon Batiste Tanglewood\" class=\"wp-image-512841\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Notably, Batiste produced the music for Disney Pixar\u2019s film <em><a href=\"https:\/\/nysmusic.com\/2021\/04\/26\/soul-wins-best-animated-film-and-best-score-at-2021-oscars\/\">Soul <\/a><\/em>which won an academy award for Best Original Score and a Golden Globe for Best Original Score. The <em>We Are<\/em> album won five Grammys including Album of The Year in 2021. In 2022, Times Magazine named him top 100 most influential people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2023 Netflix film,<em> American Symphony<\/em>, explores Batiste&#8217;s career. It follows his personal life, his involvement in activism and organizing and of course, his musical successes.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He\u2019ll perform his wide discography in Koussevitzky Music Shed, a venue that will host other iconic artists all summer. <a href=\"https:\/\/nysmusic.com\/2024\/05\/24\/tanglewoods-packed-2024-lineup\/\">Tanglewood<\/a> is a concert series located in the Berkshire hills of Western Massachusetts.
