  • Trey Anastasio Performs With Boston Pops At Tanglewood on June 29

    Rock legend Trey Anastasio will perform with the Boston Pops at the Tanglewood concert series on Saturday, June 29 at 7 p.m.

    Anastasio is guitarist and singer-songwriter who co-founded Phish in 1983 at The University of Vermont. In 1998, he branched out with a solo project that would eventually become Trey Anastasio Band, starting out as a trio and having as many as 10 different musicians in 2002.

    Along with his tours with these bands, Anastasio has also performed live as a solo act. In 2009, he performed in Carnegie Hall with the New York Philharmonic and has performed with a number of orchestras across the country, owing credit to his background in orchestration and composition. In 2020, he presented ‘The Beacon Jams‘ as a way to connect and perform with fans during the COVID pandemic, spanning eight weeks. He has released 18 solo albums and is touring at various venues across the U.S, including Tanglewood. 

    The Boston Pops conductor for the performance, Edwin Outwater, is an esteemed conductor and is currently the Music Director of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He has been conducting since 2001 all across the country.

    Each summer, Tanglewood welcomes highly established artists like Anastasio and Outwater to perform at the Koussevitzky Music Shed. The venue is located in the Berkshire hills in western Massachusetts.

  • Grammy Winner Jon Batiste Performing at Tanglewood

    Esteemed singer, songwriter and multi-talented artist Jon Batiste, will perform at the Tanglewood concert series on June 28. 

    After earning both a B.A and a M.F.A from Juilliard school, Batiste got his start on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert as a bandleader and musical director. His extensive discography ranges from his 2004 jazz album, Times in New Orleans, to his 2023 concept album, World Music Now. Jazz legends such as John Coltrane and Miles Davis are a heavy influence on Batiste’s music, as well as the soul and funk of Stevie Wonder and James Brown.

    Notably, Batiste produced the music for Disney Pixar’s film Soul which won an academy award for Best Original Score and a Golden Globe for Best Original Score. The We Are album won five Grammys including Album of The Year in 2021. In 2022, Times Magazine named him top 100 most influential people.

    The 2023 Netflix film, American Symphony, explores Batiste’s career. It follows his personal life, his involvement in activism and organizing and of course, his musical successes. 

    He’ll perform his wide discography in Koussevitzky Music Shed, a venue that will host other iconic artists all summer. Tanglewood is a concert series located in the Berkshire hills of Western Massachusetts. Throughout the summer will also feature many performances from its summer resident, the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

  • Kool & The Gang and En Vogue To Perform At Tanglewood

    Kool & The Gang and En Vogue are coming to Tanglewood on June 23, performing at Koussevitzky Music Shed at 2:30 p.m.

    Kool & The Gang is an R&B, funk group known for their hits from the 70’s and 80’s. They officially formed in 1969 signing to De-Lit Records and released their first album, Kool & The Gang. “Jungle Boogie” “Get Down On It” and “Ladies Night” are just a few of their many hits from their decades of discography. 

    The band formed in Jersey City as a Jazz ensemble. This included Robert “Kool” Bell on Bass, Ronald Bell on Keyboards, Robert “Spike” Mickens on Trumpet, Dennis “Dee Tee” Thomas on saxophone, Ricky West on keyboards, George Brown on drums, and Charles Smith and Woody Sparrow on guitar. Now, Robert Bell, trumpet player, Michael Ray and Keyboardist, Curtis “Fitz” Williams make up the Grammy Award winning group.

    Soul trio, En Vogue are joining Kool & The Gang on stage performing their hits from the 90’s. They have sold 20 million records worldwide and have won seven MTV Music Video Awards along with three Soul Train Awards. In 1988 Dawn Robinson, Cindy Herron, and Maxine Jones and Terry Ellis made the final cut for the girl group and they were signed to Atlantic Records. Now the group is a trio consisting of Ellis, Rhona Bennett and Cindy Herron. They’ve released seven studio albums, most recently Electric Cafe in 2018.

    Last Year, En Vogue performed at the Fourth of July Tanglewood celebration. This summer music festival is located in the Berkshire hills in Western Massachusetts.

  • Roger Daltrey To Perform at Tanglewood’s Popular Artist Series

    English Singer, Roger Daltrey will perform as part of Tanglewood’s Popular Artists Series on June 22 at the Koussevitzky Music Shed.

    Daltrey is the leader and co-founder of The Who, having performed hit rock songs like “My Generation” and “Baba O’Riley.” Aside from being the lead singer, Daltrey also wrote for The Who, including some earlier songs like “Early Morning Cold Taxi” and the band’s second single, “Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere.” The Who has been touring since its formation and have still performed within the last decade, but Daltrey has also toured as a solo act.

    His first self-titled album was released in 1973. Since Daltrey, he’s released several more albums including an original motion picture soundtrack and a children’s album. Daltrey’s current tour comes two years after his last in 2022, in which he sang The Who songs and his solo music. 

    This year’s Tanglewood summer features classic rock artists like Daltrey, pop and orchestral performances. Tanglewood is the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra located in Lenox Massachusetts on the Western side of the state. The space has concerts all summer long up until Aug 31. 

    Special guest, KT Turnstall will perform with Daltrey. She is a Scottish rock singer-songwriter known for her hit song “Suddenly I See.”

  • John Fogerty’s Celebration Tour Makes A Pit Stop At Tanglewood

    Former Creedence Clearwater Revival leader, John Fogerty will perform at Tanglewood Music Festival on June 20, 7 p.m. on the coveted Koussevitzky Music Shed stage.

    Fogerty is a Grammy award winning musician and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee that has shaped rock music with his distinctive country, folk, pop style. He was not only the founder of CCR but also wrote their greatest hits like “Susie Q” and “Proud Mary.” He released his first self-titled solo album in 1975. Additionally, in 1985 Fogerty released his third studio album with Warner Bros. Records, Centerfield.

    In November of 2019, his “My 50 Year Trip” performance at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado was recorded for public broadcast but his tour was cut short due to Covid. Now he’s back on his “Celebration Tour,” playing at venues across the country including Tanglewood. This festival is the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and is located in the Berkshire Hills of Western Massachusetts.

    George Thorogood and The Destroyers will make an appearance at the performance as well. Thorogood is a rock and roll artist known for his song “Bad To The Bone.” Another special guest will be Hearty Har, a band from Los Angeles formed in 2012 by Shane and Tyler Fogerty, the two sons of John Fogerty himself.

  • Tanglewood’s Packed 2024 Lineup

    Tanglewood, the esteemed Western Massachusetts venue, has announced its lineup of performers for the 2024 Popular Artists Series part of the season, running from June 20 to August 31. The lineup includes big names like Trey Anastasio, Beck, Dispatch, and pop and R&B acts like Boyz II Men, Brandi Carlile and Jason Mraz. 

    Since 1936, Tanglewood has been the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and is located in Lenox Massachusetts right in the Berkshire Hills. Although Tanglewood features the BSO, the festival is not just for classic music fans. The 350,000 yearly attendees come to this venue to hear Jazz, pop, choirs and more.

    This year’s Popular Artist series has a list of timeless performers. Kool & The Gang and En Vogue are set to perform on June 23, bringing back the sounds of the 70’s and 90’s. On July 16 the Pretenders will be on the stage and Grammy award winning artists Jon Batiste and James Taylor are also bringing their talent to the festival. 

    The festival has performances for movie lovers as well. The Boston Pops will present a John William’s film night for the second year and conductor Keith Lockhart will lead the Jurassic Park score.

    With so many concert goers on the 500 acre property, there’s two buildings where performances take place.The Koussevitzky Music Shed was inaugurated in 1938 and reconstructed in 1959, making it the iconic stage that Tanglewood is most known for. This is where the BSO and Boston Pops shows are held. Seiji Ozawa Hall, a newer structure, was built in 1994. It’s received numerous architectural awards including the National American Institute of Architects Honor Award for Interior Architecture in 2000.

    Founder of Creedence Clearwater Revival, John Fogerty will join the Music shed Tanglewood stage alongside his band to bring the classic rock sound to the Berkshire hills.

  • Trey Anastasio to Perform at Tanglewood with The Boston Pops

    On June 29, Phish frontman Trey Anastasio will perform with The Boston Pops at Tanglewood in Lenox, Massachusetts. The performance will feature Anastasio performing solo work and orchestral compositions, amid the atmosphere of the Berkshire Mountains.

    Part of the Popular Artist Series, Anastasio will perform with the Boston Pops – conducted by Edwin Outwater – at the Koussevitzky Music Shed, in Lenox, MA on Saturday, June 29, at 7pm.

    Anastasio had been set to perform with the Boston Pops in 2020, but the event was one of the many live music performances canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Performing along with a string section, a Rescue Squad or a philharmonic, Anastasio has taken his orchestration talents to a wider audience, melding compositions for rock and guitar along with an orchestra. Since 2000, Anastasio has performed with string groups, and the Tanglewood show is his second of this summer, having announced a July date with the National Symphony Orchestra in Vienna, VA.
