  • Jelly Roll Beautifully Broken Tour Rolled Into Buffalo

Jelly Roll on the Beautifully Broken tour, with openers Alexandra Kay and Warren Zeiders, rolled into Buffalo KeyBank Center on Sunday, October 6th, bringing a night of healing and good old country vibes on a Fall night.

The night started with independent artist Alexandra Kay. Alexandra Kay is from Waterloo, Missouri, about 40 minutes from St.Louis. She has taken the country scene by storm, having collaborated with some of the most iconic names in the music industry, like Randy Travis, Tim McGraw, and Scott Stapp of Creed, just to name a few. When Alexandra Kay came out, KeyBank Center was electric for her. She had tremendous energy and worked the stage to ensure everyone felt connected.

Warren Zeiders followed up Alexandra Kay. Warren is one of country music’s newest up-and-coming stars. He recently was nominated and won his first CMT Award for “Breakthrough Male Video of the Year.” His fans are eating him up, giving him 7.9 million monthly Spotify listens and 1 billion TikTok views. He continued to bring on that high energy that Alexandra brought to his set. Both Alexandra and Warren were such perfect opening acts to get everyone ready for Jelly Roll.

Before Jelly Roll took the stage in Buffalo, he started a countdown just after Warren Zeiders finished his set. When the countdown reached zero, a video started to play. The video welcomed everyone to the tour and let everyone know to come as they are and, most importantly, that “it’s okay not to be okay” and that this show would be healing and a good time. When the video finished, Jelly Roll started his walk to the B stage on the floor of the sold-out KeyBank Center.

Along the way, he shook hands and said hi to the fans. When he got to the stage, he started singing ‘I Am Not Okay.’ During the song, a metal house silhouette came down, hovering above the stage on fire. After the song, Jelly Roll returned to the main stage and performed ‘Halfway to Hell’ and ‘Get By.’

  • In Focus: CMA Fest Takes Over Nashville

Country music’s biggest party invaded downtown Nashville June 6-9, as CMA Fest returned for its 51st edition.  The four day long event featured hundreds of musical acts performing on one of nine official stages, with many other performances and events lined up across town.

Music ran daily from 10am until almost midnight with most of these performances free to those in attendance.  Only the night time performances at Nissan Stadium and Ascend Amphitheater charged admission. Stadium performers included Jelly Roll, Luke Bryan, Lainey Wilson, Old Dominion and many others.

    Ascend Amphitheater during CMA Fest

CMA Fest kicked off under Thursday June 6 under beautiful blue skies and typical warm southern temperatures.  Early arrivers were treated to a special Q&A session at the CMA Close Up Stage with country legend Dolly Parton, while the Riverfront Stage opened the music portion with a set by Dylan Scott (who would perform at the Ascend Amphitheater later that evening).   Warren Zeiders packed the Riverfront Stage Thursday afternoon, showcasing his gritty country rock.  Early on it became clear that the CMA talet valued the fans in attendance, as it was common to see acts hop off stage and meet fans following their performance.

As the sun set on day one, fans made their way across the Cumberland River to Nissan Stadium for sets by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Thomas Rhett, Shaboozey and Chapel Hart (among many others).  The night also featured surprise performances by Post Malone and Blake Shelton.

    Brett Young

A not so quick walk down the famed Broadway on Friday morning and one would realize the packed Thursday crowd had grown enormously for Friday’s festivities.   Shortly after noon, the Reverb Stage reached audience capacity, as fans flocked to see rising sensation Shaboozey perform his blend of hip hop and country sounds, in high energy style.  The Riverfront Stage would follow suit and reach capacity soon after, in anticipation of performances by Niko Moon and Collie Caillat.  Those waiting in the hot sun were treated to sets by Alana Springsteen and BRELAND.  Moon, dressed in neon green and a sun hat, radiated messages of love and positivity, themes that would reoccur through out the weekend.

    Alana Springsteen

The party ramped up Saturday, with The War and Treaty kicking off the festivities on the Riverfront Stage, while Dasha, fresh off a stadium performance the previous night, opened the Chevy Vibes Stage.  Shaylen would draw quite the crowd early afternoon, mixing country and alternative styles in a display of angst and passion.  The afternoon would also see performances form acts such as Restless Road and Ingrid Andress.  Perhaps the star of the afternoon was Tucker Wetmore, who filled the Hard Rock Stage to capacity, and saw fans spill on to Broadway and surrounding streets to try and catch a glimpse of the set.

    The War and Treaty

CMA Fest marked a pinnacle moment in the careers for many of the performers  who took the stage over the four day festival.  The War and Treaty preached the need to be your “authentic self” as you strived to achieve whatever goals you set for yourself.  Country-rocker Shaylen became visibly choked up and moved to tears during “What If I Don’t”, a song she wrote soon after moving to Nashville to give her music career one last chance.  Jelly Roll, a Nashville native, lamented on trips to Nissan Stadium with his late father to watch the Titans play and cherished how he was now performing in that same stadium.  In all, it was a weekend dedicated to celebrating and honoring both the successes and rising stars in country music, all the while placing the fan at the forefront.

  • Jelly Roll Announces Summer “Beautifully Broken” Tour, Coming to Albany, Buffalo and NYC

Jelly Roll will bring his headline “Beautifully Broken” tour to MVP Arena in Albany on Sept. 24, at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 27, and the KeyBank Center in Buffalo on Oct. 6

Nashville native singer and songwriter Jelly Roll first debuted at number two on the top country album charts with his debut Whitsitt Chapel, released in June 2023. The album earned him the biggest country debut album in Billboard consumption chart history.

Prior to entering the country music scene, Jelly Roll began his career in hip hop, getting inspiration from rappers like UGK, 8Ball & MJG, and Three 6 Mafia. He started selling mixtapes out of his car, releasing tracks from his debut project, The Plain Shmear Tape, in 2003. In 2010, he released “Pop Another Pill” in collaboration with Memphis-based artist Lil Wyte, later leading to the album Year Round by the hip-hop group SNO, of which Jelly Roll was a member. Over the next few years, Jelly Roll continued to release many mixtapes and independent solo albums including collaborations with Lil Wyte, and Struggle Jennings.

Following his sweep at the 2023 CMT music awards where he earned three awards to become the most awarded artist of the night, the Billboard Country Power List cover star Jelly Roll was named the country’s “most authentic new artist” by the New Yorker and received the Billboard’s breakthrough award in 2023. His hit single “Save Me” features a confessional, vulnerable expression of self-doubt, set on the stage for his new season of life. It later took him to new heights including a Platinum certification from the RIAA on the heels of his 28-week reign at No. 1 on Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart.

This summer the artist will bring his “Beautifully Broken” tour to the MVP Arena in Albany on Sept. 24, Madison Square Garden on Sept. 27, and the KeyBank Center in Buffalo on Oct. 6. Tickets will be available starting with various presales beginning on Monday, February 26.  Additional pre-sales will run throughout the week ahead of the general on-sale beginning on Friday, March 1 at jellyroll615.com.
