  • Cortland Repertory Theatre Presents New Concert “Close to You: The Music of the Carpenters”

    Cortland Repertory Theatre has announced their new “Sounds of Music” Concert Series. Kicking off the series on Wednesday, September 4 is “Close to You: The Music of the Carpenters” featuring lead singer Lisa Rock and her band, a concert that is a heartfelt tribute to vocal legend Karen Carpenter.

    Karen Carpenter captured the attention of a generation with her memorable love songs that topped the Billboard charts more than a dozen times. Lisa Rock returns to CRT with her band and backup singers, bringing their nationally renowned concert to the Pavilion stage.

    Lisa showcases some of the most memorable songs of the 70s including “We’ve Only Just Begun”, “Rainy Days and Mondays”, “Superstar” and many more favorites. Not an impressionist, but an artist with an amazing 4-octive range, Lisa presents a trip down memory lane like no other.

    “Close to You” is the first of a series of four Wednesday concerts held in September at the Pavilion. On September 11, Tina Naponelli returns to CRT with her tribute of “Tapestry Unraveled: The Music of Carole King.” “Sounds of Music” takes place every Wednesday in September at 2:00PM and 7:30PM at the Little York Pavilion, Preble.

    On September 21, “Jefferson McDonald’s Great Balls of Fire” tears into the CRT stage. This high-energy performance consists of hits by Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Willie Nelson, and many more. 

    Finally, on September 28, CRT presents “How Sweet It Is: Steve Leslie Sings James Taylor”, with this Nashville-based, award-winning singer/songwriter performing such hits as “Carolina On My Mind”, “Shower The People”, and “Up On The Roof”.

    CRT Guild refreshment counters are offering beer and wine along with the regular snacks, cookies and coffee. Individual tickets for all shows, times and seats are $35.00.  A special discount is offered for one ticket to each concert for $120.00 total.

  • Buffalo Musicians and Charities Team Up For Music Matters Series

    Harbor Walk, Liberty Hound, and Jeff Miers Music are teaming up to present the Thursday Night Summer Concert Series “Music Matters.” The series takes place on the New Harbor Walk Facility at the Erie Basin Marina in Buffalo. Concerts take place on Thursdays at 7 pm, so don’t miss the last few weeks of eclectic performers.

    Now in its final weeks, the Music Matters concert series features a wide variety of regional artists and organizations for attendees to enjoy. Local businesses set up their booths all over the boardwalk, offering special creations just for the event. Private special events on the boardwalk are held after each concert for fans who wish the night would never end.

    “I’m excited to be teaming with my friend Jason Davidson and the Liberty Hound to present this summer concert series at the new Harbor Walk venue,’” says Music Matters Series co-producer Jeff Miers. “There’s a long history of live music on Thursday nights in the Canalside region, and it feels great to be able to assemble this lineup of incredible Buffalo talent to continue that tradition at one of our city’s most breathtakingly beautiful sites.”

    Music Matters brings an incredibly diverse and talented batch of musicians to Harbor Walk every year. This year, a lineup of rock, country, and funk artists take the stage. In its home stretch, bands like Critt (joined by special guest Blaised and Confused), Funktional Flow, and The Strictly Hip, along with a special announcement for the show on August 8, are ready to turn up the funk for Buffalo crowds.

  • West Falls Center For The Arts Hosts “Music Mends”

    The West Falls Center for the Arts will host a special fundraiser known as “Music Mends.” The fundraiser is held at the Admiral Room in Buffalo, on October 3, from 6-9 pm.

    West Falls Center for the Arts is a nonprofit arts and cultural destination hub, offering programs designed to bring arts and culture enjoyment to all. Music Mends is yet another of the inspiring events hosted by the center.

    Music Mends offers a wide variety of activities, including free music lessons for Veterans and their families, lessons from the accredited PBS program Kids Jam, and music mentoring for young artists. The nationally recognized Musical Memories Cafe hosts a special program for individuals with Alzheimer’s/Dementia and their caregivers. Performances from special musical guests and Buffalo natives The Kensingtons will take place all night, celebrating the classic artists of the 1960s and 70s like Roy Orbison. Music Mends will end with a Community Concert Series.

    Guests can enjoy complimentary wine, beer, and soda all night long. Throught the night, there are basket raffles, wine pulls, a gift card wall, and more fundraising activities. All proceeds go directly to the West Falls Center for the Arts, and help fund a wide variety of programs to bring music and art to the citizens of West Falls.

  • Clifton Park Announces Commons Concert Series Lineup

    Clifton Park in Saratoga County, NY is once again hosting its Performing Arts at The Commons concert series starting on June 30. 

    The free concerts take place on Wednesday, Sunday and Thursday evenings from June 30 to Aug 29. Wednesday night performances are family centered events that are always kid friendly. The first Wednesday will feature Mr. Mike The Magician and his comedy magic show.

    The series also features two cover bands performing classic rock music to the Clifton Park community. Fleetwood Macked, who will perform on Aug 4 not only sound like the famous band but also resemble them in looks and character. They are “Hailed as the most authentic Fleetwood Mac tribute band in the U.S.” according to their website. 

    Bon Journey, a tribute band to both Bon Jovi and Journey, will take to the Clifton Common Stage on Aug 18. The band includes Bobby Pizzoferrato, a former member of the band Wild Cherry. The band has three other lead singers making it a vocal heavy act.

    Clifton Park and its surrounding areas have events all summer long. The same opening weekend of the performing arts concert series is the 47th annual Saratoga Jazz Festival. The Opera Saratoga Summer festival happens between June 2 and July 7.

  • Ballston Spa Presents Concerts in the Park Series

    The Ballston Spa Business and Professional Association, located in Ballston Spa, NY, has announced its summer concert series, “Concerts in the Park.” Events and performances will take place weekly on Thursdays from 6-8 pm in Lions Music Park at the historic Iron Spring Park on Front Street. Attendees can enjoy performances from a wide variety of performers, including community symphonic bands and local rock groups.

    Formed in 1983, the BSBPA is committed to making Ballston Spa a thriving, prosperous community that is great for both business and everyday life. Since its inception, they have promoted local vendors, merchants, and businesses alongside artists and musicians in and surrounding the area. The Concerts in the Park series is one of their many events promoting the extensive talent in the thriving neighborhood.

    June 27 at 6 pm – Ballston Spa Community Band 

    The Ballston Spa Community Band makes their return to the concert series just in time for the opening performance. Since 2005, the volunteer musicians that make up the band have bonded over their love of music. About a dozen times each year, the Ballston Spa Community Band performs in schools, parks, and theaters in the area. Join them for a sensational opening performance on June 27.

    July 11 at 6 pm – HEARD

    For the last 15 years, HEARD has brought captivating fusions of jazz, improvisational, and world music to festivals and concerts all over the country. Their vibrant sound incorporates influences from West Africa, Brazil, the Caribbean, and beyond.

    July 18 at 6 pm – Fenimore Blues 

    Based in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Fenimore Blues performs an eclectic mix of blues, R&B, and rock. The blend of genres comes from multiple inspirations, including Bonnie Raitt, Aretha Franklin, the Neville Brothers, the Allman Brothers, Linda Ronstadt, Etta James, Santana, and even Tedeschi Trucks. Their unique stage presence stems from its instrumentation – Sherian Nolan’s powerful vocals are backed by guitar, keyboards, saxophone, bass, and drums, and one band member doubling on accordion.

    July 25 at 6 pm– Tom’s House 

    Tom’s House offers a special amalgamation of several unique styles, from ambient jams to driving prog-rock grooves.

      August 1 at 6 pm– Annual Ice Cream Social with The Union Fire Company Band 

      Concerts in the Park once again welcomes the Union Fire Company Band with an ice cream social, accompanied by a performance from the Union Fire Company Band. Support the Ballston Spa local fire department on August 1st.

      August 8 at 6 pm– SIRSY

      Hailing from Upstate NY, Sirsy is a sassy pop-rock duo with an amazing musical ability. Drummer Melanie Krahmer, who also plays keyboards, is joined by her husband John (guitar), these multi-instrumentalists manage to sound like a full band. Sirsy is known for their passionate, honest, heartfelt live performances. The Boston Globe calls SIRSY the “little band with the big sound.”

      August 15 at 6 pm – Lustre Kings

      For the last 30 years, Lustre Kings have cemented themselves as focused, driven, and passionate musicians returning to their roots. Their reverb-driven sounds of early rock lean on touchstones of country, blues, and R&B. 

      August 22 at 6 pm –The Protones 

      The Protones are a group of well-seasoned musicians bringing back the classic sounds of 70s rock to venues and festivals all over the state. Join them as they close out the Concerts in the Park series on August 22!

    • Playland Announces Summer Sounds Concert Series Lineup

      This Summer, Playland Amusement Park in Port Chester presents the Playland Summer Sounds Concert Series from July 6 to Aug 31.

      This is Playland’s first partnership with The Capitol Theatre, a historical venue that has showcased legends like Bob Dylan, The Strokes and David Bowie. Playland is also collaborating with The Rock and Roll Playhouse from July 7 to Sept 1 for a family concert series.

      The Rock and Roll Playhouse was founded in 2014 as a way for children to interact with music of all different genres. The group is based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, it has hosted over 1000 shows all over the U.S. Playhouse will present sing-along performances and family friendly covers of Queen, Taylor Swift and more.

      Playland Summer Sounds will kick off with 1 Wild Night, a Bon Jovi Tribute band. The next day, on July 7, The Rock and Roll Playhouse: The Music of Queen the next day. 

      Playland is conveniently located near the Metro North Station in Rye, Ny. Beyond musical performances park guests can enjoy the 50 rides and attractions the area has to offer. Every Friday night, the park will have fireworks shows starting June 28. Playland has been entertaining the Long Island area since 1928.
      Anyone can attend the concerts with a day pass or an all-access season pass.

    • Backyard At Hudson Yards Announces Concert Series Lineup

      This year’s Backyard at Hudson Yards presented by Wells Fargo, announced the weekly concert series including artists like Keke Palmer and David Archuleta. 

      Backyard at Hudson Yards is a larger backyard entertainment program in Hudson Yards, NYC. The festival also includes free yoga, pilates and fitness classes hosted by Alo as well as pickleball tournaments. You can also catch free movies and find food and beverages made by Verona, a Mexican street food inspired restaurant. 

      The eight-week summer concert series programmed by the Bowery Presents starts on June 19 with country singer, Chayce Beckham and ends on Aug 7 with actress and singer Keke Palmer. The July 24 artists are yet to be announced.

      After the concerts 21+ guests can enjoy the featured food and drinks made by local restaurants O’Toole’s Way, Mercado Little Spain, Bronx Brewery in addition to Verona.

    • Levitt AMP Utica Announces 2024 Concert Series Lineup

      The Levitt AMP Utica Concert Series in Kopernik Park has announced its summer 2024 lineup, running June 17 through Aug 19.

      Concerts will happen every Monday starting the 17th of June, welcoming artists from around the world to play in downtown Utica. These free performances are family friendly and sponsored by the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation, which encourages communities to take advantage of underused public spaces for concerts. Utica is one of 33 cities that have been awarded the Levitt AMP $30,000 grant to fund the concert series. Utica Monday Nite, founded by Lynne Mishalanie, is the fiscal sponsor for the concert series. 

      The series involves young musicians in the community as well. With the Letter internship program, kids can perform after the opener, sometimes as their first paid musical gig.

      While the majority of the artists performing are from the United States, Utica has international guests as well. Kommuna Lux from Ukraine will be playing what they call “Odesa Gangsta Folk” on June 24. They combine Eastern European Melodies combined with Gangster music from the multicultural community of Odesa.

      OKAN, a Cuban born duo from Toronto will perform on July 1. They are also genre benders, infusing their Afro-Cuban roots with jazz and folk.

    • Sounds at Sunset Concert Series At Brooklyn Bridge Park Dates and Performers

      This summer, the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy hosts the Sounds at Sunset summer concert series at Pier 3 Plaza, located on Pier 3 at Brooklyn Bridge Park.

      Standing along the banks of the East River, Pier 3 Plaza offers a wonderful view of the Manhattan skyline. The best method to travel by subway is to take the A or C train to High Street, followed by a 15-20 minute walk from the station.

      The concert series hosts a variety of artists from all over the world. Solo artists, small ensembles, and even conductors and chamber groups will play at these concert series throughout the summer. Special events, including the Americana Music Festival and Paak Appreciation Night, are scheduled for the concert series as well.

      Kicking off the series is The Royal Scam with a Steely Dan Happy Hour at Pier 3 Plaza. Featuring NYC’s elite touring and recording musicians, The Royal Scam brings a night of fun and nostalgia to Pier 3 as an iconic tribute band. Before the show, there will be an opening DJ set by Maurice Bernstein, founder of Giant Step.

       Friday, June 28 at 7:00 PM – Igmar Thomas & Musical Guests

      Maestro, Trumpeter, conductor, composer, and arranger Igmar Thomas brings special musical guests, including a chamber ensemble, to Pier 6 at Brooklyn Bridge Park. In the past, Thomas has worked with hip-hop legends Lauryn Hill, Nas, and Busta Rhymes on lyrics and music composition. Join Thomas and guests for a night of big band-style jazz and jazz fusion on Friday, June 28.

      Friday, July 12 at 7:00 PM – Yacouba Sissoko

      World-renowned kora player Yacouba Sissoko and his band SIYA share West African songs and stories at Pier 6 Plaza. These stories have passed down from generation to generation. A night of tradition, culture, and folklore arrives in Brooklyn with Sissoko and SIYA on July 12.

      July 26 at 7:00 PM – Brooklyn Americana Music

      Brooklyn Americana Music curates a taste of their award-winning festival at Pier 6 Plaza. Featuring internationally touring singer-songwriters with fiddles, banjos, and guitars, the festival celebrates its tenth anniversary. Their annual festival curates a blend of internationally recognized and up-and-coming music artists in the folk, country, and Americana music scene.

      Friday, August 2 at 7:00 PM – PAAK Appreciation

      The final Sounds at Sunset event dedicates itself to one of music’s biggest names. For fans of the R&B icon Anderson .Paak, a night of deep cuts, unreleased tracks, and collaborations, awaits at Brooklyn Bridge Park. The event will be hosted by producer and drummer George “Spanky” McCurdy, accompanied by a band and DJ set.
