Over the course of a trailblazing career, the multi-hyphenate creative has earned critical acclaim for her innovative style and entrepreneurial spirit and seen her forward-thinking approach reshape pop culture in the process.

She released her sixth studio album ‘BRAT’ in June which stands as the most critically acclaimed album of the year and landed at Number 1 on the UK Official Album Chart in October. ‘BRAT’ has well and truly made its mark on the cultural zeitgeist this year; the audacious campaign has seen Charli cause roadblocks around the world with her pop-up ‘PARTYGIRL’ DJ sets, break the internet with viral videos and surprise collaborations with the likes of Billie Eilish, Lorde, Addison Rae, Robyn, Yung Lean, Julia Fox, Chloë Sevigny, and Rachel Sennott and introduce a new tone of green to the social lexicon.

In October, Charli followed it up with ‘Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat’ – a brand-new version of the critically acclaimed album featuring reimagined takes and innovative reworks of tracks from ‘BRAT’ featuring the likes of Julian Casablancas, Bon Iver, The 1975, Shygirl, Ariana Grande, Caroline Polachek and more.

  • Iron Maiden Live in Brooklyn present Heavy Metal-Infused Dystopian Future on Stage

In the 1980s, Iron Maiden led the charge in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement, guiding heavy metal music into a resurgence in popularity. A younger generation of hard rock fans embraced Iron Maiden and other NWOBHM bands that injected the intensity of punk rock into the more polished heavy metal sound of the 1970s.

As impactful as that new genre of music became in the 1980s, few bands survived beyond that era. Decades later, Iron Maiden still rules the heavy metal world. Forming in 1975 in London, England, Iron Maiden reached its widest mainstream appeal with a series of platinum albums and arena-headlining tours in the 1980s. Perhaps indicating another possible resurgence, the band’s 17th and most recent album, Senjutsu, recorded in 2019 and released in 2021, proved to be Iron Maiden’s highest-charting album in the United States.

Senjutsu (Japanese: 戦術, “Tactics”) was the band’s first album of new songs in six years. Despite fluctuating record sales, Iron Maiden’s tours have maintained high drawing power. Part of the success of the band’s tours in the 2000s was the return of vocalist Bruce Dickinson and guitarist Adrian Smith to the fold in 1999. Since their return, Iron Maiden stabilized as a sextet, with founder and bassist Steve Harris, guitarists Dave Murray and Janick Gers, and drummer Nicko McBrain, who is touring despite suffering a stroke in January 2023.

The latter part of Iron Maiden’s The Legacy of the Beast World Tour in 2022 introduced audiences to three songs from Senjutsu, but the overall setlist was largely a retrospective repertoire. The current The Future Past World Tour, which began in Europe in 2023 and will end this December in South America, includes five songs from Senjutsu, five songs from 1986’s Somewhere in Time, and five other songs, mostly from the 1980s. Fan favorites like “Run for the Hills” were omitted on this tour.

At Barclay Center, as at other tour stops, the house music blasted at 8:50 p.m. with UFO’s “Doctor Doctor,” followed by Vangelis’ instrumental “End Titles” from the 1982 science fiction film Blade Runner. Indeed, the graphics of the stage setting soon referenced the futuristic cyberpunk style associated with that film. The center back of the stage showed two animated videos of Iron Maiden’s mascot, Eddie the Head, the cyborg version on the left and the samurai on the right. Within seconds, a center panel revealed an artistic rendition of a barren, dystopian-looking city street in Japan in the dark of night.

The musicians began the synthesized bass and guitar introduction of “Caught Somewhere in Time,” the opening track from the 1986 album, Somewhere in Time. The front line of Harris, Smith, Murray and Gers immediately made use of the entire stage, pacing everywhere as they played their instruments. Wearing dark goggles and an open calf-length coat, Dickinson ran onto the stage, spun his microphone stand high above him, and added to the high energy. The now-standing audience sang loudly to the repetitive one-line chorus.

Dickinson was remarkable on stage. The 66-year-old’s soaring, operatic-style vocals were remarkably strong and brilliantly clear, especially considering that he has survived bouts of cancer on his tongue, neck and throat. He also moved amazingly well, continuously leaping across the stage, thanks to a recent hip replacement and five and a half inches of titanium hammered into his femur. Iron Maiden’s three-guitar structure extended nearly every song to showcase the talents in the band. Flighty solos, harmonious twin and triple guitar leads, and even a few brief duels superbly filled out the songs. Several times, Dickinson took advantage of these interludes to walk offstage and change his wardrobe.

In addition to all the futuristic visuals that accompanied Iron Maiden’s music, a 10-foot-tall Eddie made three appearances. The creature’s first cameo was during the second song, “Stranger in a Strange Land.” Appearing as a cyborg, parts of his internal musculature were exposed and his eyes glowed bright under his cowboy hat. Eddie returned to the stage during “Heaven Can Wait” and engaged with Dickinson in a gun battle, illuminated by pyrotechnics. Eddie’s final cameo was during the song “Iron Maiden,” in which he appeared as a samurai, threatening Gers with a giant katana sword.

Iron Maiden concluded the main set with the song “Iron Maiden,” which was recorded when Paul Di’Anno was the lead singer. Di’Anno died this past October 21 at age 66. The cause of death has not been disclosed, but he suffered health issues in recent years that restricted him to performing in a wheelchair. The band returned on stage for a three-song encore. The musicians and their fans maintained the same high level of energy for two hours. As the musicians took their final bows, a recording of the Monty Python song, “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life,” played through the arena’s speakers, finally reducing the temperature of the event.

Iron Maiden is far from finished. Although the band has no plans for recording new music between now and then, Iron Maiden this past September announced its next tour. The Run for Your Lives world tour will begin in May 2025 in Budapest, Hungary. The tour will celebrate Iron Maiden’s 50th anniversary with an elaborate stage show and a setlist comprised of selected songs exclusively from the band’s first nine albums, from 1980’s Iron Maiden to 1992’s Fear of the Dark. American dates have not yet been announced.

Iron Maiden – Barclays Center, Brooklyn – Saturday, November 2, 2024

Setlist: Caught Somewhere in Time, Stranger in a Strange Land, The Writing on the Wall, Days of Future Past, The Time Machine, The Prisoner, Death of the Celts, Can I Play with Madness, Heaven Can Wait, Alexander the Great, Fear of the Dark, Iron Maiden, Hell on Earth, The Trooper, Wasted Years

  • Nicki Minaj Pink Friday 2 Tour Adds Queens, Buffalo Dates

Dubbed the Queen of Hip Hop, Nicki Minaj has announced her highly anticipated tour, showcasing her brand new album Pink Friday 2. She will stop at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, March 30, and Barclays Center on Thursday, April 4, 2024. Additionally, Minaj has announced shows in Buffalo on September 14 and in Queens on October 11.

For the finale of the tour, Nicki will make her return to Queens for one final show in her hometown after a total of over 80 shows across the globe.

Nicki Minaj became “the first woman to score 100 Billboard Hot 100 Hits” with an astounding 133 total entries to date (the most among female hip-hop acts). These include three #1’s, over 70 Top 40 hits (also a record among female hip-hop acts), and 23 Top 10’s (another record among female hip-hop acts). As a songwriter, she also holds the record for the “Most Billboard Hot 100 Entries Among Women in the 2010s.”

Minaj has set the tone in music, fashion, and beauty for more than a decade. Her seminal song “Super Bass” surpassed one billion YouTube views, entering history alongside the likes of “Anaconda.” As such, she has emerged as “the first female rapper to cross the one billion mark with multiple solo tracks.” With nine videos receiving more than one billion views thus far, she has earned “the most videos with over one billion views for any female artist.”

Her supremacity can be traced back to her landmark debut Pink Friday in 2010, which sold 375,000 copies in its first week according to MRC Data. It made history by achieving “the largest sales week for a female hip-hop artist since Lauryn Hill in 1998.” In 2022 she released “Super Freaky Girl,” which impressively debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Other accolades she acquired were “the female rapper with the most solo Top 10 albums in Billboard 200 history,” “the most-awarded rapper at the American Music Awards,” and “the first female rapper with over 30 billion Spotify streams across her catalog.”

In addition to music, Nicki Minaj has made numerous TV and film appearances, including as a judge on American Idol along with film roles in 2014’s The Other Woman, 2016’s Barbershop: The Next Cut, and voiceover for Ice Age: Continental Drift. She has landed high-profile deals with Fendi, Adidas, H&M, Diesel, Mercedes-Benz, Sprint, and Pepsi, released a nail polish collection with OPI, and was the face of MAC’s Viva Glam campaign. Not to mention, she is a co-owner of TIDAL, and her BEATS 1 QUEEN radio show stands out as “the highest-rated show in Apple Music history.”

  • Future and Metro Boomin Announce ‘We Trust You Tour’ W/ Stop At Barclays Center

On the heels of back-to-back chart topping albums, Future and Metro Boomin will be bringing live performances to an arena near you after announcing a “We Trust You” North American tour, with a performance at Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center set for the summer.

Notably, Future and and frequent collaborator/ producer Metro Boomin took the internet by storm with the release of We Don’t Trust You on March 22, creating plenty of social media fodder with disses to Drake littered throughout the album, including the heavily deliberated Kendrick Lamar verse aimed at Drake and J. Cole. Less than 3 weeks later the duo made more waves with the release of a second, double-album in We Still Don’t Trust You, serving as melodic counter to the heavily trap influenced predecessor. In like manner, the latter is expected to have high first-week numbers in another chart-topping effort from the prolific duo.

Future and Metro Boomin "We trust You" tour schedule.
Future and Metro Boomin’s “We Trust You” tour comes to Brooklyn this summer.

    “We Trust Your Tour” Details

Thus, the duo announce their “We Trust You Tour” that will see them perform throughout the United States along with two notable dates in Canada roughly a month apart, including an August 11 stop in Drake’s hometown of Toronto. Presented by Live Nation, the “We Trust You Tour” begins on July 30 and will see the duo perform 27 dates in roughly a month-and-a-half. Moreover, they will bring the show to the Brooklyn’s Barclays Center with an August 15 date in New York City, before closing out the tour in Canada with a September 9 performance in Vancouver. Other notable stops include performances in Atlanta, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Presale tickets for the “We Trust You Tour” are available Wednesday, April 17 for Cash App card customers, starting at 10 a.m. local time. Additionally, general sale will begin on Friday at 10 a.m. local time on livenation.com.

  • Twenty One Pilots Announce Clancy World Tour, Coming to Barclays Center

GRAMMY Award-winning duo Twenty One Pilots announced the details for their biggest global headline tour, The Clancy World Tour, coming to Barclays Center on Sept. 18, 2024.

The duo shared their new song “Next Semester,” from their highly-anticipated forthcoming album, Clancy, which will be released on May 17 via Fueled By Ramen. Having amassed over 33 billion streams worldwide and over three million tickets sold across global headline tours, the Columbus, OH-based duo of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun have established themselves as one of the most successful bands of the 21st century and redefined the sound of a generation.

They even notched dozens of multi-platinum certifications and claimed a spot in the Guinness® Book of World Records. Historically, their quadruple-platinum breakout LP, Blurryface, took flight as “the first album to notch a RIAA Gold or Platinum certification for every one of its songs,” while Vessel followed suit. They are one of only 18 artists to earn multiple RIAA Diamond certifications, going Diamond with “Stressed Out” and “Heathens.” 2018’s Platinum-certified Trench extended the concept from Blurryface with the platinum singles “Chlorine,” “My Blood” and the GRAMMY Award-nominated “Jumpsuit.” They followed Trench with their Gold-certified LP Scaled And Icy, achieving “the biggest opening week for a rock album in 2021” by capturing #1 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums and Top Alternative Albums charts and crashing the Top 3 of the Billboard 200.

Last month, Twenty One Pilots returned with news of Clancy and released the album’s lead single “Overcompensate” alongside an accompanying video. The track rocketed up the Alternative Radio chart, currently sitting at Top 5, and made a massive impact upon launch as it welcomed listeners to the band’s immersive world of Trench.

Clancy is currently available for pre-order in two limited-edition deluxe box sets, four vinyl variants with additional retailer exclusives, an exclusive CD + Journal Book and a Cassette + Photocard Wallet, and much more.

Fans can participate in an official artist presale for tickets beginning on April 2 with all remaining tickets available during the general sale at 10 AM on Friday, April 5. For tickets and complete details for Twenty One Pilots’ The Clancy World Tour visit here.

  • Madonna in Trouble, Fans Sue over Late Start at Brooklyn “Celebration Tour” Dates

Pop icon Madonna has run into some trouble as two fans who attended the December 13 date of her Brooklyn “Celebration Tour,” have decided to sue the musician for starting her show over two hours late, causing it to end at around 1 a.m.

As reported in the BBC, the case, brought by Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden, states that “many ticketholders who attended concerts on a weeknight had to get up early to go to work and/or take care of their family responsibilities the next day.” Due to the start time changing from the previously scheduled 8:30 p.m. to a near 10:30, making the pair leave the show at around 1 a.m. they were “left stranded in the middle of the night” and “confronted with limited public transportation, limited ride-sharing, and/or increased public and private transportation costs.”

The defendants only attended the December 13 concert, but the suit claims that the December 14 and 16 concerts also had a delayed start time. Fellows and Hadden are accusing Madonna, Barclays Center, and tour promoter Live Nation of “unconscionable, unfair, and/or deceptive trade practices” for the delayed start time, citing it as an exercise of false advertising. Had they known this would have occurred, they said they would have not purchased tickets.

The court papers also say Madonna “has a long history of arriving and starting her concerts late, sometimes several hours late.” In 2019, during her “Madame X” theater tour, Madonna was similarly sued for starting her show at 10:30 p.m. and was also called out at her 2016 Rebel Heart Tour for being late.

Madonna’s “Celebration Tour” was a greatest hits show including more than 40 songs from her career. The Barclays Center shows were originally supposed to happen in July 2023 but were rescheduled following her hospitalization in June for a serious bacterial infection. The tour continues until its last stop in Mexico in April.
