  • Avril Lavigne Announces “Greatest Hits” Tour Stopping in Buffalo and Wantagh

One the most influential artists from the pop-punk and alternative rock scene, singer Avril Lavigne has announced a “Greatest Hits” tour, with stops at the Darien Lake Amphitheater on August 20, and at the Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater on August 27.

Lavigne’s dominance can be traced all the way back from her debut LP Let Go in 2002, which was certified 7x Platinum by the RIAA in the United States. In 2004, the singer released “Don’t Tell Me”, which impressively debuted at #22 on the U.S Billboard Hot 100, other notable accolades she acquired were eight Grammy nominations including Best New Artist and Song of the Year twice for “Complicated”

In addition to music, Avril Lavigne has made numerous film and TV appearances throughout her career. Her debut feature film was voicing an animated character in the 2006 film Over the Hedge, directed by Tim Johnson and Karey Kirkpatrick. The Canadian born artist is considered a highlight in the pop-punk and alternative rock scene and has also pave a way for the success of other female-driven punk influences like Skye Sweetnam, and the Australian rock band Tonight Alive.

Tickets for the North American dates including Buffalo and Wantagh stop will be available starting January 24 with Artist presale, and the general on-sale will begin January 26 through Ticketmaster

  • The Thing Announces North American Tour Stopping in Ridgewood and Buffalo

The Thing will kick off their North American Tour with a stop at TV Eye, The Ballroom on February 2, and close out the tour back in New York State at Buffalo Iron Works on April 13.

The band’s upcoming tour will also be supporting Mo Lowda & The Humble and The Bright Light Social Hour.

The Thing is a four-piece band from New York City, that originated when Michael Carter, Jack Bradley, and Zane Acord bonded over a shared love for rock & roll in high school. Over the years, they honed their craft self-recording and writing songs influenced by 60s pioneers such as The Kinks, Grand Funk Railroad, and artists of the Nuggets compilation. As they progressed in skill and knowledge, the band started to envision a career inspired by the likes of Brian Jonestown Massacre, King Gizzard, and The Black Keys.

The band then started playing shows and generating a buzz around New York City in the winter of 2022. Shortly after, the band began touring up and down the East Coast. Their energetic live performances quickly earned the grassroots attention of honest music lovers.

In April 2023, the band released their debut record Here’s The Thing which was a compilation of nine songs written throughout the early years of the band. With the album out in the wild and the addition of Lucas Ebeling on the kit, The Thing is relentlessly touring, recording new music, and breaching the modern world of rock & roll as they work toward their second album The Thing Is set to be released on Feb. 2.

Also kicking off on Feb. 2, The Thing will be back on the road as their North American tour kicks off with a hometown show in Ridgewood at one of the band’s favorite venues, TV EYE, and later at  Buffalo Iron Works on April 13.

  • Benny The Butcher Drops Single & Video for ‘Bron’

Benny The Butcher continues to ramp things up for his debut Def Jam release. Following the success of the Stove God Cooks assisted “One Foot In” and “Big Dog” featuring Lil Wayne, Benny goes iso in the basketball-themed single and video aptly titled “Bron.”

Benny the Butcher cover art for single "Bron."
    Benny The Butcher

The grainy, flickering visuals finds Benny in a Hapeville, GA school gymnasium along with local basketball players working on their game. Moreover, as the track’s soulful keyboard loop wraps around the orchestral sounding beat, Benny muscles his way into the spotlight with his emphatic delivery, letting off his customary warning shot, “The Butcher coming!”

In essence, the music video conveys that the BSF head-honcho’s claim for hip hop supremacy is a result of him outworking his adversaries. After all, the Buffalo native claimed on X (formerly known as twitter) that he would have the best Def Jam release since DMX’s debut-album. While a strong take, he stands as one of the few street rappers breaking into the mainstream. Ultimately landing a gold single with the J. Cole assisted “Johnny P’s Caddy.”

On “Bron,” Benny leans into his confident, charismatic and clever cadence while maintaining his role as a street general. He affirms, “In my city, I’m King Kong,” and cleverly confides this the songs hook, “I’m Bron. After my chip I told my folks back home so long. I moved my family and my bricks somewhere it’s warm.”

Everybody Can’t Go is set for release on January 26.
