This fall, guitar icon Yngwie Malmsteen will kick off his 40th Anniversary Tour, taking him nationwide, with four shows in New York.
His first trip brings him to Plattsburgh at the Strand Centre on October 4th, followed by Colony Woodstock in Woodstock on the 10th. Two days later, Malmsteen will visit Buffalo’s Electric City Music Hall, with the tour concluding on November 18 at New York Cityâs Gramercy Theater.
Originally from Sweden, Yngwie Malmsteen was born into a musical family full of opera singers and classical musicians. By the age of 10, he had formed his first rock band with his childhood friend. Eventually, he began experimenting with different genres, musical styles, and techniques. Growing up, he was inspired by the unique playing styles of classical composers like Niccolo Paganini and Antonio Vivaldi, as well as the bluesy ones of Deep Purple founder and guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. Throughout his teen years, he combined the two genres and founded what is known as Neo-Classical Hard Rock.
In 1982, Yngwie Malmsteen came to the United States to kickstart his career. He appeared on multiple albums and performed in the hard rock band Alcatrazz. In 1984, he earned a solo deal and released his debut solo album. Rising Force. Since then, he has recorded over 22 studio albums and earned himself a reputation as one of the greatest electric guitarists of all time.
“I’m very excited to play this tour with all you guys and commemorate the launch of my solo career. It’s been an amazing journey and it still feels like it’s only beginning. I couldn’t have done it without all of you and your support throughout all these years. Looking forward to creating some magic with all of you! More is more!”

blink-182‘s Travis Barker is bringing his Run Travis Run: a run and wellness experience to New York City on Sunday, July 21, ahead of blink-182’s show at Citi Field later that evening.
Run Travis Run includes a morning run and wellness experience, offering attendees a 360-degree experience of health, wellness, and mindful exploration.
Following a tragic plane crash in 2008 that left Barker with severe burns and injuries, his future mobility was uncertain. After spending 11 weeks in the hospital and undergoing 27 surgeries, Barker was finally able to return home, though he faced many challenges ahead.
“After my accident in 2008, more than 70% of my body was burnt”, said Barker. “I was told by doctors that I may never be able to walk or drum again, so I set out to prove everybody wrong, including myself. What started with short walks turned into short runs every day. This past year, I ran my first half marathon and participated in a few 5Ks. The running community is massive and I loved how everyone from all walks of life ran together and supported one another. This is what Run Travis Run was built off of and we’re only getting started.”
Now in the best shape he’s been in years, Barker is looking to share his passion with the fans. Run Travis Run is coming to both New York City and Los Angeles, with the New York City event happening at Citi Field on the morning of blink-182’s One More Time Tour show in the same place that evening. The event will begin at 9:00 a.m., and athletes of all levels are invited.
Event Highlights:
Morning Run: Join Travis Barker and fellow enthusiasts for a timed run at Citi Field in Queens, NY, at 9 a.m. Whether a seasoned runner or just starting, this event is for everyone.
Wellness Experience: From fitness classes to mindfulness workshops, participants will have exclusive access to top brands and experiential activations throughout the morning.
Exclusive Mementos: In addition to earning a finisher time at the end of the run, participants will receive a limited-edition shirt and medal as part of the inaugural event.
Day-in-the-Life of Travis Barker: Experience a day-in-the-life of Blink 182’s legendary drummer by participating in Travis Barker’s pre-concert routine centered around running, health and wellness.
Tickets range from $53 for the standard “run experience” to $427.93 for the “VIP run plus meet and greet photo experience.” A virtual option is available as well. Tickets and more information can be found here.
Syracuse native Charley Orlando has released his newest single, “Slipstream.” Featuring an easy-listening guitar melody accompanied by a hint of a folky/country twang, the song presents itself with a laid-back, calming presence to all listeners.
Over the last 30 years, Charley Orlando has developed an impressive reputation as a musician. With an impressive 28 Grammy Ballot nominations, 18 releases, and over 30 years of touring, he has cemented his place as an influential and respected musician in the industry. Other than his career as a solo musician, Orlando is an active group performer. He has performed as part of Ruha, which releases its own, original music, and bob., a Bob Dylan tribute band. His music is a unique blend of blues, folk, and rock, with heartfelt lyrics that resonate with audiences around the world.
Orlando’s latest single, “Slipstream,” is the second of a series of singles that he plans to release over the next year. Much like his last single, “California,” Slipstream embodies the best elements of music from the late 60s and early 70s. The easy-going vibes set by the instrumental, along with masterful lyrics that display sensitivity and vulnerability, are reminiscent of artists like Bob Dylan, Seals and Crofts, Steely Dan, and more. The instrumentals offer a perfect blend of blues and rock that makes the single stand out as an easy listening tool. Despite its ongoing themes of anxiety, pain, and struggle, Charley Orlando’s “Slipstream” offers a relaxed, comforting, and secure peace of mind.
Lyrically, the single reads as a plea for help in times of struggle. The line “My sweet friend, get me out of this slipstream” repeated throughout each chorus tells us where Orlando is coming from. But despite the pleas to be saved, Orlando’s steady, delicate voice tells us that there is still hope. Whatever may have caused the metaphorical slipstream, someone will be there to help get you out of it. Even if he is unsure, he knows that there is someone who will always be by his side. It is a message of a precious relationship that one can only hope to have. For those who do, it would only make them even more appreciative of their loved ones.
Following the release of “Slipstream,” Charley Orlando announced a series of live performances happening this summer. All events are listed below. Slipstream is available on all streaming platforms. To download for free, visit this link, and use code n1aw-hv0b.

A new face in the Albany Music scene, Lake Effect, released their first six-song EP, Drifting on May 17.
The band formed in 2022 with Lenore Aldi-Snow, who writes all the original music. The other three members come from the funk band, NoLaNauts, also based in Albany. Ben Moss is on Guitar, Brian Brancato is on drums and background vocals and Matt Girtler is on bass and backing vocals. The group played for what they thought was just one performance on New Year’s Eve 2022 at Jive Hive Live, a small venue in Albany.
Lake Effect came together again at Christ’s Church in Albany in April 2023 as an official band this time. They played 23 of their original songs including the tracks from Drifting. The EP was mixed and produced by Alec Lewis at his studio, Honey Home.
The EP is full of Aldi-Snow on the keys playing classic funk rhythms. “Trouble” has an uncanny resemblance to Bill Wither’s “Use Me.” The band uses neo-soul and funk sounds but mixes them with Aldi-Snow’s crisp jazz vocals. “EDGE,” the last track on the EP features Brancato’s and Girtler’s vocals with a blues-rock end to Drifting.
Although Lake Effect is currently on a break due to other musical commitments, they plan on recording more music in the future – listen to their EP Drifting on any streaming site.

The Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Dinner, year after year, is a stunning night full of spectacular moments honoring the art of songwriting. The evening kicked off with a special performance of Irena Cara’s “Fame,” performed by 2024 Abe Olman Scholarship recipients Rodney Chrome, Molly Kate Kestner, Sierra “Spirit” Kihega, Ava Liv Mabry, and Matilda Marigolds. 4X GRAMMY award-winning recording artist Deniece Williams then took the stage to begin the induction of Oscar-winning and multi-GRAMMY and Tony-nominated songwriter Dean Pitchford. Williams performed her 1984 hit “Let’s Hear It for the Boy” of Footloose fame, which had the whole crowd clapping to the rhythm. Multi-award-winning actor Kevin Bacon and musician Michael Bacon, who together form The Bacon Brothers, then continued the party, bringing the house to their feet for an electrifying performance of “Footloose” that put Kevin Back in the dancing shoes of his former role. The brothers then inducted Dean, saying his writing has “inspired all of us to reach for our dreams.” Following his induction, Dean performed “Once Before I Go,” a piano-backed, emotional retrospective, fitting for such a momentous occasion.
Renowned manager Irving Azoff began the honors for Steely Dan, naming them “among the best bands ever” and claiming that “their records will be recognized as iconic for the rest of time.” Singer-songwriter and lead guitarist of Phish, Trey Anastasio, then took the stage to perform a medley of Steely Dan hits. The funk-infused “Kid Charlemagne” blended seamlessly into the famous riffs of the timeless, swinging groove of “Reelin’ In the Years.” Trey then inducted Donald Fagan and Walter Becker, stating that together, “they created a body of work that defied categorization – masterful, thought-provoking, elegantly melodic songs filled with beautifully flawed, deeply human and believable characters.”
Songwriters Hall of Fame Chairman, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, and 6X GRAMMY award-winning musician Nile Rodgers took the stage next to honor SZA with the Hal David Starlight Award, which is presented to young songwriters making a significant impact in the music industry with their original songs. Nile praised her abilities as a composer, which “manage the amazing feat of being ethereal and keeping it real at the same time.” The 4X GRAMMY award-winning recording artist then performed an intimate, acoustic performance of her hit “Snooze” from her breakthrough sophomore album SOS, and claimed that receiving this award “validates [her] entire career.”
