  • Phantogram Announces 2025 Headline Tour “Running Through Colors” with Stop at Brooklyn Paramount

    Electro-rock duo Phantogram have announced their 2025 headline tour of North America which begins on January 15. The tour begins in Las Vegas, NV and wraps up on February 28 in Hollywood, CA.

    Lauded as an experimental and alternative band and one that’s never been married to a particular genre, Phantogram have continued to alter soundscapes for almost a decade by consistently challenging sound with their signature blend of hard-hitting beats, guitar driven dark psychedelia and electronic pop.  The “Running Through Colors Tour” stops at Brooklyn Paramount in NYC on February 6.

    The band recently released their fifth album, Memory Of A Day via Neon Gold Records. The new album captures that disorienting sense of time travel sparked by a color or song that recalls the most joyful and tragic moments in your life. Alongside the LP, the duo – Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter – have shared their latest single, the driving, and wistful burst of color, “Attaway.”

    Live performances from Phantogram weave together the band’s signature mix of hazy synths, hypnotic guitars, beat-crushing drum machines and mesmerizing vocals. For the band, writing new music and performing it in front of audiences around the world is their most exciting experience creating together since their early days as a group.

  • The OSFL Musicians’ Choice Chamber Series in Elmira Opens November 1 with the Lyric Sounds of Flute and Piano

    The Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes (OSFL) presents its opening concert in the Musicians’ Choice Chamber Series, The Lyric Sounds of Flute and Piano, on Friday, November 1 at North Presbyterian Church in Elmira.

    An evening of elegance and musical mastery awaits as OSFL’s Principal Flute Jeanne Sperber and acclaimed pianist Michael Salmirs share the stage to perform some of the most beautiful and introspective works ever written for flute and piano. This performance will explore a wide spectrum of colors and moods, as the duo trades melodies back and forth between the flute and piano. The program includes music from C.P.E. Bach’s Hamburg Sonata, Jake Heggie’s Soliloquy, Pierre Sancan’s Sonatine, and César Franck’s Sonata.

    Sperber, a renowned flutist and educator, has been a beloved figure in the Southern Tier for over twenty years. She has performed in legendary venues such as Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and Weill Hall, and has toured South America and Cuba twice as a concerto soloist. This event promises to be a delightful experience for music lovers of all ages. The concert is sponsored in part by Dick and Judy Sphon and the OSFL Chamber Music Society.

    This event is part of OSFL’s 30th concert series. A stellar show with supreme talent like this is one not to miss. The OSFL offers four regular season full orchestra concerts, a Musicians’ Choice Chamber Music Series, concerts by the Chorus of the Southern Finger Lakes, and educational programs for children. Tickets are $40 for adults, $20 for college students with ID, and FREE for attendees under 18 with a ticketed adult.

  • Cohoes Music Hall Hosts Cast Party Fundraiser for Capital Region Festival of Theatre on October 27

    Cohoes Music Hall announced that on October 27 the venue will host a grand Cast Party to raise funds for the inaugural Capital Region Festival of Theatre. The party is presented by Playhouse Stage Company.

    The party will be the biggest gathering of Capital Region theater fans ever in the interest of building a Festival to promote their interests. There will be a substantial sampling of the area’s entertainment, light fare provided by Cohoes’ finest restaurants, a cash bar, over $13,000 in Raffle prizes, wine pull and a generous wine sampling.

    Entertainment at the Cast Party will back up CRFT’s motto that “The Capital Region is a GREAT place to love theatre your whole life long.” Performers will come from the youth company, The Cue Theater, which serves students as young as 5 years old, to stand-up comedian and actor Judi Clements who takes her act to senior centers.

    There will be someone new to discover for even the most dedicated theatre fan in the wildly eclectic line-up curated by PSC Artistic Director Owen Smith who is also deservedly showing off a number from his company’s smash hit production from earlier this year, “Spring Awakening.”

    The lineup of performers so far includes Kelly Blitz, Shayne Cameris, Judi Clements, Ellen Cribbs, The Cue Theatre, Keith Dubois, Suzie Dunn, Claire Flynn, Jake Goodman, Steve Grogan, Taylor Hoffman, Jon Maltz, Maria Mucaria, Jeff Stubits, Luca Verner & Will Kempe’s Players.

    CRFT will have many donation opportunities from a huge raffle that over 30 theatre companies have donated tickets, t-shirts commemorating the event and buttons thanking every dollar offered. Cast Party begins on October 27 from 6:00PM to 9:30PM.

  • Award-Winning Professor Louie & The Crowmatix to Perform at Caffe Lena October 26

    Caffe Lena has announced the return of blues-roots fan-favorite Professor Louie & The Crowmatix on October 26.

    Professor Louie & The Crowmatix from Woodstock have been consistently returning to Caffe Lena. They have been expanding the borders of the Americana, Roots & Blues genres since the early 2000’s with Professor Louie’s stories, keyboard playing, singing and accordion. Their repertoire continually expands with Crowmatix songs from their 17 albums of originals, blues and Americana music.

    Their connection with audiences at shows helps create a family rapport. Prof. Louie (keyboards vocals-accordion) is joined onstage by band mates Miss Marie (vocals, percussion and piano) Frank Campbell (bass, vocals) guitar-slinging skills of Todd Mihan and drummer Dan Hickey. Professor Louie & The Crowmatix create a show that is constantly evolving with songs consisting of elements of Rock n Roll, Blues, Folk & Gospel Music with a dose of Jam framed in solid songwriting.

    Professor Louie is known for his production work with the famous rock group The Band.   • BRIC Announces Afrofuturistic Halloween Event ‘Disturbia’ as Part of BRIC House Party Series

  • Third Annual Pop-Up Health and Wellness Clinic Returns to Caffè Lena in Saratoga on October 20

    Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs has announced the return of their free annual pop-up health and wellness clinic on October 20.

    Medical professionals from Saratoga Hospital and community organizations will provide testing, evaluation, health & wellness education, as well as assistance obtaining access to ongoing care during a one-day pop-up health clinic. These services are available free of charge to anyone in the creative community, including artists, musicians, designers, photographers, filmmakers, writers, and all others who work in a creative capacity and live in the Saratoga region.

    The clinic was brought to life three years ago through the vision of Saratoga Hospital Community Health Center nurse and musician Jill Burnham RN, BCEN of “Mark and Jill Sing the Blues”. This year’s event is made possible by the generous support of the Rotary Club of Saratoga, with additional support from Caffè Lena, Sight and Sound Vision Care for the Music Industry, and Saratoga Hospital.

  • Big Eddy Film Festival Comes to Narrowsburg Oct 18-20

    The Big Eddy Film Festival is coming to Narrowsburg in Sullivan County from October 18 to 20. The weekend festival contains several screenings of films along with workshops for all ages.

    Over the three-day span at Big Eddy Film Festival, there are 11+ events to behold. Several film screenings are to take place prior to panel discussions where the films are dissected and analyzed. Along with the film screenings and panel discussions, a segment of the festival is dedicated to the young filmmakers of Sullivan County.

    Nine kid-directed short films will be screened, followed by a Q&A with the cast and production teams. An animation workshop is also included in the festival on Sunday, October 20. This workshop aims to educate young filmmakers on animation, camerawork, and abstract artistry.

    Opening night on Oct 18 features a single film screening – “Happy Campers.” From 10:00AM to 11:00PM on October 19, the day is jampacked with six total events for festgoers to enjoy. Wrapping up on Oct 20, four events take place, with the final film screening of the festival being documentary feature “Dory Previn: On My Way To Where.” This is an all-encompassing screening you won’t want to miss.

    Writing and singing the unvarnished truth about one’s buried secret life experiences is more common today than when Dory Previn wrote brilliant, disturbing, and darkly funny songs in the 1970s. Previn began as an Academy Award-nominated lyricist for Hollywood musicals with songs for Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland & Dionne Warwick before a tabloid scandal and public breakdown led to her re-emergence as a cult artist in the Laurel Canyon scene. Filmmaker in attendance.

  • Olivia Reid Releases Heartwarming New Single “Love Don’t Leave”

    Indie-pop artist Olivia Reid has announced the release of her latest heartwarming single “Love Don’t Leave.”

    Based in NYC, Olivia Reid’s unique production style blends indie acoustics with exploratory pop soundscapes, creating a distinctive sonic space to express her most inward emotions. Reid’s artistic style fuses the expressive sounds of artists like Bon Iver, Norah Jones, Sylvan Esso, and Florence + The Machine, with the intensely emotional experiences she channels.

    “Love Don’t Leave” is a song about the little elements of connection that feel so simple, yet make love feel deep and pure. That purity and depth of connection is the very thing that makes the hard times in life sting less. The track begins with an otherworldly soothing aura that entices and pacifies the listener in the best ways possible.

    The track combines Olivia’s signature indie-pop sound whilst also implementing notes of folk and even country. The track is upbeat, yet lowkey. Its full of life and vibrancy yet is suited to soothe and relax the audience. The theme here is love and Olivia Reid does a beautiful job at conveying the message that love is simple but extraordinary and deep. The dynamic nature of the track truly speaks to the impressive songwriting abilities of the artist.

    “Love Don’t Leave” is the first song off of her forthcoming EP and is born out of Reid’s centering experiences in Poland’s countryside. She describes the track as a love letter to love, which is the perfect explanation of the song’s overall feel. The EP, titled soft songs for the soul, is to be released in the coming months and will be available on all streaming services.

  • Adirondack Theatre Festival and Proctors Collaborative Announce Expansive New Partnership

    Adirondack Theatre Festival (ATF) and Proctors Collaborative have entered into a three-year agreement to expand shared services and explore how the two will partner more significantly over the long term.

    Proctors Collaborative has provided the Adirondack Theatre Festival with set construction and marketing services on a fee basis for the past three seasons and cross-marketed for over five years. These efforts have led to conversations about the production of theatre in the Capital Region, the state of locally produced professional theaters around the country and the opportunities for ATF, the Collaborative and its affiliate Capital Repertory Theatre to work together. The goal is to imagine and deliver ever-better professional theater with ever-more stable means and methods for the larger community.

    Glens Falls-based ATF has operated a summer season for three decades under an agreement with the Actors’ Equity Association, casting actors, designers and directors who have worked regularly on and off-Broadway, on television and in movies. Under the leadership of Producing Artist Director Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill, Albany’s Capital Repertory Theatre has a longer but similar history. Since its founding in 1976, it has produced over 300 shows across 6,000 performances, including 46 world premieres and is the Capital Region’s only League of Resident Theatres member.

    The merging of these two entities has potential to create a collaborative project that may change the state of theater in upstate NY and throughout the nation. Since the Covid pandemic, the theater industry has been struggling to get back to the glory of its past. With this new collaborative adventure afoot, the capital region may see an explosion of creativity, success, and artisanship.

  • Foster The People Announce ‘Paradise State of Mind Tour’ with Stop at Brooklyn Paramount in February

    Famed indie-pop group Foster The People have announced their anticipated Paradise State of Mind Tour which sees a single stop at Brooklyn Paramount on February 24, 2025.

    The upcoming North American headline tour is set to hit 23 cities in all, including a stop in Brooklyn, NY at the Brooklyn Paramount on February 24, 2025. The tour begins October 11 in Austin, Texas, and finishes on March 6, 2025 in Dallas, Texas. Foster The People will host special guest Good Neighbours for the entirety of the tour. The eagerly awaited tour celebrates the recent arrival of Foster The People’s acclaimed new album, Paradise State of Mind. The album is highlighted by such acclaimed tracks as “Chasing Low Vibrations,” “Take Me Back” and the cosmically catchy first single, “Lost In Space.”

    “I think the trickiest part about this record was trying to be authentic about what had been going on with me, without writing something super dark and without glossing over it, either. Because, to me, it was really important that hope remain at the core of this whole thing. People need hope. I need hope. And when I think about what hope is – it’s having the courage to walk towards something that you think can be better, while fully acknowledging the darkness and reality around you. That was the goal, walking into this album, which was actually really tricky – to make something that rang true to what was on my mind, but that had this much groove and that would be fun to dance to.
