These programs and summits promise to have a significant impact on the industry, fostering inclusivity and empowerment.

    2023 Fall Mentorship Program: Forging the Future

    Launched on October 2, WIM’s 2023 Fall Mentorship Program pairs mentees from diverse backgrounds with seasoned female artist management professionals as mentors. This initiative is a crucial step toward achieving gender balance in the field of artist management.

    All Things Go Festival 2023: Uniting Music and Equality

    WIM left its mark at the All Things Go Music Festival on September 29. The Creator Summit kicked off with a lively Pre-Party at the Eaton Hotel, fostering connections among panelists, festival attendees, and WIM DC Members. Sponsored by The MLC, this event set the stage for thought-provoking discussions and networking.

    At the All Things Go Creator Summit, Chissy Nkemere, WIM’s Global Chair of Education and Rock & Alternative, Artist Partnerships at Spotify, participated in a panel titled “Harmonizing Equity.” The discussion celebrated the multifaceted roles of women in the music industry, highlighting the power of diversity and inclusivity.

    Mondo NYC: Amplifying Music Business and Tech

    On October 10, 2023, WIM collaborates with She is the Music to co-host the Mondo NYC Opening Night Reception, hosted by SoundExchange. At this event, WIM will present a panel in partnership with MMF-US, delving into Artist Management Entrepreneurship. Additionally, WIM President Nicole Barsalona will moderate a panel hosted by Keychange U.S., exploring gender equity in music technology. Mondo NYC, now in its 8th annual edition, promises to be a hub of innovation and ideas in the ever-evolving music business and technology landscape.

    2024 Women In Music Summit: A Virtual Extravaganza

    Save the dates for the 4th Annual Women In Music Summit, scheduled to be held virtually from January 17-19, 2024. This event provides members with opportunities for engaging in educational and career development presentations virtually, complemented by in-person networking events at various WIM Chapters. The Summit is a celebration of empowerment, learning, and camaraderie.

    Established in 1985, Women in Music is a global 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to advancing awareness, equality, and diversity in the musical arts.   • Femme It Forward Announce ‘Across The Pond’ at Coney Island Amphitheater

    Femme It Forward, a female-led music and entertainment company announced their one-day festival titled Across The Pond at Coney Island Amphitheater. On May 6, stars such as Tiwa Savage, Nao Arya Starr, Elaine and Tyl will take the stage at the single-day event.

    Across The Pond, celebrates female R&B and Afrobeat musicians that originate from Africa and the UK. Within the music industry female artists are frequently overshadowed by their male counterparts, Femme It Forward works to change the narrative by honoring these talented musicians. Across The Pond will be a festival unlike others and is sure to inspire people of all nationalities and backgrounds.

    Femme It Forward strives to commemorate, educate and empower the industry’s most creative and accomplished female visionaries.   • Symphony Space Presents “Wall To Wall” At Peter Jay Sharp Theatre in April

    Multi-disciplinary Upper West Side performing arts center, Symphony Space l, has announced their annual Wall to Wall Women of Soul performance. The production entails a night of commemorating the contributions of women to the music industry. You won’t want to miss a night of classic hits from your favorite female artists. 

    Kathy Landau, an executive director for Symphony Space revealed the details for 2023’s Wall to Wall Women of Soul. The event consists of marathon performances revisiting towering artistic legacies, which The New York Times has described as “an annual gift to New York City.”

    Curated by Monique Martin, Wall to Wall Women of Soul showcases extraordinary singers, musicians, dancers, and thinkers celebrating the contributions of women across generations and genres. The event can be enjoyed at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at Symphony Space on April 1, from 3-11pm.

    The Wall to Wall Women of Soul features stars including singer, songwriter, and producer Nona Hendryx, with an all women orchestra. Performing will also be Grammy-winning singer-songwriter J. Hoard, with other singers such as Xavier Smith, Martha Redbone, Marija Abney, Marcelle Davies Lashley, and Anthony Mills. Lastly, the pianist Dj Elew, author, producer, and creative executive Thembisa Mshaka, and the members of Ladies of Hip-Hop will also take the stage. Admission for both in-person and live-stream tickets are free.

    Tony- and Emmy-winning actress, singer, and dancer LaChanze has joined the lineup along with the recent additions of all-female salsa band Lulada Club and poet Mahogany L. Browne, on video.

    “The contributions of women to soul music are often overlooked or reduced to a few artists and hits. The truth is that women continue to expand the genre’s canon, using their voices to disrupt, heal, inspire, protest, and transmit joy, by creating music that speaks to the moment. Audiences will experience music they know and love to sing and dance to, as well as fresh interpretations and new music to discover, at Wall to Wall Women of Soul.”
