P!NK has announced a new run of tour dates, kicking off the 2024 Summer Carnival Tour this August. After the successful 2023 tour of the same name, P!NK will make a stop this year at Syracuse’s JMA Wireless Dome on October 6, 2024
The 2024 Summer Carnival Tour will kick off on August 10 in St Louis, Missouri, and include stops in Toronto, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Miami, and more. With 17 shows across the country, P!NK will perform her hit tracks such as “So What,” “Just Give Me A Reason,” and more from her new 2023 album, Trustfall.
P!NK will play at Syracuse’s JMA Wireless Dome on October 6 with support from special guests Sheryl Crow, The Script, and KidCutUp. The venue on Syracuse University’s campus is one of the largest domed venues in the country, and sports a whopping 49,000 seats.

Country star Jason Aldean has announced a 24-city extension of his cross-country Highway Desperado Tour, featuring special guests, festivals, and VIP opportunities for fan across the US. Kicking off on May 18, the tour includes three NY dates in Syracuse, Wantagh, and Darien Center this summer.
After a successful 40-date run in 2023, Jason Aldean will continue the Highway Desperado Tour in the summer of 2024. The tour begins on May 18 in Thackerville, OH, with stops at landmark venues such as Bristow, VA’s Jiffy Lube Live, NC’s Greensboro Coliseum, and more. Aldean will play in New York on three dates. He will stop in Syracuse at the Empower Federal Credit Union Amphitheater at Lakeview on July 11, in Wantagh at the Jones Beach Theater on July 12, and finally, at Darien Center’s Darien Lake Amphitheater on August 1.
Aldean recently released his 11th studio album on November 3 to huge success. The 14-track record includes hit singles such as “Try That In A Small Town” and “Let Your Boys Be Country.” The latter includes a brand new music video featuring guest appearances by Aldean’s young son and daughter, and focuses on the simplicity and nature of rural childhood life.
The Highway Desperado Tour features special guests including Hailey Whitters and Lauren Alaina, as well as Chase Matthew, Austin Snell, and Dee Jay Silver at select shows. In addition to the newly added dates, Jason Aldean will headline festivals such as the Winstock Country Music Festival, the Voices of America Country Music Festival, and Canada’s YQM Country Music Fest.

In the heart of Syracuse, a remarkable artist has been cultivating a sound that defies boundaries and resonates with raw authenticity. Tyjhier, a native of the Salt City, has not only harnessed the diverse cultural tapestry of her hometown but has also drawn inspiration from her experiences to craft a distinct musical journey. Tyjhier shares her unique story with NYS Music, reflecting on her hometown’s influence, the evolution of her music, and the exciting future she envisions as she embarks on a promising career as a singer and songwriter.
Born and raised in Syracuse, Tyjhier reminisces about how her hometown and its unique culture have deeply influenced her music journey. She acknowledges the challenges of life in Syracuse, stating, “It’s not always easy being from here; the people that live here know what I mean.” Despite the hurdles, Tyjhier finds inspiration in her hometown’s experiences.
“I surely have taken many of my experiences growing up in Syracuse and used the memories, both happy and sad, within my music. Syracuse is always going to be home no matter how far I go.”

A Lifelong Dream Realized
For Tyjhier, becoming a singer and songwriter was more of a calling than a choice. She reflects on her earliest memories of music, saying, “I used to sing songs with my dad on top of the coffee table all the time.” Tyjhier’s musical journey began as soon as she could talk, with the very first song she sang being Erykah Badu’s “Orange Moon.” She recalls her childhood filled with singing, songwriting, and even creating full concerts with her dad. She mentions, “Singing and songwriting have been ingrained in who I am for as long as I can remember.”
The Thrill of the First Live Performance
Tyjhier vividly remembers her first live performance at DROM, a renowned New York City venue, with MajorStage. She describes the lead-up to the event as a mix of emotions, admitting, “I was extremely anxious about the gig leading up to the performance and on the day of.” The experience involved a multitude of behind-the-scenes logistics, from promotion to equipment setup. She adds, “I didn’t want to mess anything up behind the scenes, but I also didn’t want to let all the stress behind the scenes bleed into my actual performance.” However, once she took the stage, the anxieties faded, and she felt like a seasoned performer.
“It was an amazing feeling to have other musicians not only singing along but coming up to me at the end and telling me what songs they loved because at that point I didn’t have anything released. It was a blast, and I honestly couldn’t wait to do it again.”

Describing her music is no easy feat for Tyjhier, as she artfully blends elements of R&B and Neo Soul into her unique sound. These genres have been pivotal in her life, resonating not only with their musical styles but also with their cultural significance. Tyjhier draws inspiration from an array of legendary artists, including Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Frank Ocean, and more. She explains, “I aspire to have a unique sound like that.”
TheIn–Betweens: A Journey of Growth
Tyjhier’s debut project, The In-Betweens, has been a profound journey that has resonated with listeners, amassing over 40,000 streams on various platforms. She reflects on the project’s inception, sharing, “At first, the idea wasn’t fully fleshed out, and some of the songs on the project weren’t completed, but it started off with the shower sessions.” These sessions served as a bridge between the album’s concepts and themes. She delves into the deeper meaning behind the project, stating, “I really wanted The In–Betweens to be a journey of not only growth over time and growth through life experience but to show that certain things can’t just be rushed through.” Tyjhier’s music provides solace and empowerment, encouraging listeners to embrace the in-between moments in life.
In the near future, fans and the music world can anticipate more music from Tyjhier. She’s already working on new material, pondering whether her next project will continue the narrative started with “The In-Betweens” or venture into uncharted territory. Additionally, Tyjhier envisions live performances, collaborations with fellow artists, and the possibility of taking her music on the road. With her distinctive sound and compelling narrative, Tyjhier is poised for a promising future in the music industry.
Two Rochester based ensembles, showcasing Sephardic music will perform back to back performances of “Sephardic Reflections,” taking place in Syracuse on October 21 and at Rochester’s Temple Beth El Synagogue on October 22.
The production ‘Old & New: Sephardic Reflections’ brings a taste of medieval flute and electric guitar, offering a contrast of contemporary music with versions of old and new songs. This medieval mix is interpreted by members of fivebyfive and Pegasus Early Music/NYS Baroque. The clash of ensembles explore the sounds of flute and electric guitar to present a new experience for the audience.

Pegasus Early Music/NYS Baroque will perform using recorders, lute, duduk, shawm, harp and percussion which stay true to the early music of Sephardic traditions in Spain, Portugal and Morocco. Members of the chamber music ensemble will us flute, clarinet, bass, piano and electric guitar which heavily influence the new tradition.
This is an exciting journey for both ensembles, to focus on music from a certain period but in our own styles. All of our musicians are world-class artists, experts in their chosen instruments, and we look forward to collaborating on this kaleidoscopic musical event.

With the summer full of concerts across the state, there are plenty to attend but one in particular was the Psychotherapy Sessions Tour at St. Joseph’s Amphitheatre in Syracuse with Mudvayne, Coal Chamber, GWAR, Nonpoint, and Butcher Babies.

It was a beautiful night for a show with just a cloud or two here and there and to start off this evening was Butcher Babies, hailing from Los Angeles. If you’ve never seen them live, they bring lots of energy to the stage with their two frontwomen, Heidi Shepherd and Carla Harvey, who are very well known for swinging their hair around as they headbang, as they did during their set. Next up was Nonpoint, an American rock band from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, who had no trouble keeping the crowd going after Butcher Babies, with their high-energy set.

Following them was GWAR and if you have never seen them live, if you plan on staying dry, it’s suggested to not be towards the front. Their set started with a character talking to the crowd and suddenly the band came on with another character with a saw, who began to use it on the first character and the fake blood began to spew out to the pit covering everyone.
To take the stage next was Coal Chamber who came back after their hiatus and reunited back in 2022. They had a colorful display on stage, with faces on the amps and lights. To end the night was Mudvayne, also back from a hiatus that started in 2010 but that didn’t stop them from putting on one hell of a performance. To kick off the set, the singer Chad Grey made his way to the barricade separating the pit from the stage and practically leaned on the ones who were lucky enough to be at the front and came back multiple times to interact with the crowd. All the members were dressed for the occlusion, all with makeup and headpiece.
To end the night as folks left, they also had one last treat with it being a beautiful evening for a concert, a full moon was out lighting up the surrounding area as the concert goers made their back to the parking lot.
New York State is home to a great deal of recording studios, and Central New York certainly has their fair share. These studios are found from Ithaca to Syracuse and Utica, with many of these studios having a long and rich history, while others have only been around for a few years.
Cooperstown, NY
Rep Studio in the heart of downtown Ithaca provides recording artists with a spacious, comfortable environment in which to create and hone a first-rate product, whether it be a music CD, a radio spot, custom music for any application, sound to picture, or anything else audio.
Pyramid Sound Studios in Ithaca is a state-of-the-art recording facility that has worked with both major label and independent artists worldwide for the past 30 years. The studio offers music production services for the entire album-making process including writing, recording, mixing, and mastering. Pyramid Sound is equipped with a live room that features three iso booths built with acoustic production in mind. Both the live room and the control room are built on sand and separated from one another to avoid excessive bleeding and vibrations, and both spaces are patchable to any other room via both instrument and speaker cables.
Subcat Studios was originally founded in 2001 in Skaneateles before moving to Syracuse. The SAG-AFTRA-approved studio offers music recording and production, professional video production, and other educational services for recording artists. Mastering Engineer and Principal Owner Ron Keck had been working with digital recording since 1989. Because of his experience and skillset, SubCat quickly gained a reputation for high-quality audio recording. Today, SubCat prides itself on high-quality studio recording, remote recording, audio mixing and mastering, videography and photography, graphic design, CD and DVD duplication, printing, and much more.

Big Blue North Recording Studio in Utica has a rich and extensive history. It was initially a wooden church erected in 1920, and on October 9, 1927, the current brick church building opened to the public with an auditorium filled. Big Blue North was purchased by its current owners, Audio Engineer Jeff Aderman and Studio Manager Pamela Jardieu in 2000 and underwent two and a half years of renovation under the supervision of audio industry icon John Storyk. The facility opened as Castle Recording Studio in 2003, and continued until the owner’s retirement 10 years later, reopening as Big Blue North Recording Studio in 2013.
Big Blue North Recording Studio comes equipped with 5,000 square foot residence, a.k.a The Fort, with a large kitchen and dining room to self-cater your meals, a living room with a big TV to veg out, a practice room to work out your parts, a library to check your email, a private outdoor courtyard to get some fresh air, four bedrooms and an attached garage to securely park the band van and free wireless internet. The New York State Fair has announced that Skid Row will close out the Fair on Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Suburban Park Stage.
Founded in 1832 by a group of local farmers for agriculture and local fairs, The Great New York State Fair did not become a musical showcase until the 1950s and 1960s, when the fair began gearing towards entertainment.
Touring in support of their newest album, The Gang’s All Here, Skid Row will play through new songs as well as the fan favorites that first put them on the map, like “18 and Life,” “Youth Gone Wild,” and “I Remember You,” as well as new singles too, including “Tear it Down,” “Time Bomb,” and “The Gang’s All Here.” The band features original members Rachel Bolan (Bass), Dave “Snake” Sabo (Guitar), and Scotti Hill (Guitar), with Rob Hammersmith (Drums), and the newest member and longtime fan of the band, Erik Grönwall (Lead Vocals), a Swedish Idol winner (2009).
All shows, including Skid Row, are included in the New York State Fair admission.

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the historic Summer Jam at Wonderland Forest, a new 500-acre campground and concert venue in Lafayette just outside Syracuse over July 28 and 29.
Summer Jam 50 offers a recreation of the original Summer Jam from 1973, with music from Dark Star Orchestra (Celebrating the Grateful Dead Experience), Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country (A Celebration of The Allman Brothers Band), and The Weight Band (Celebrating the Music of The Band.)
The inaugural Summer Jam Music Festival in 1973 took place at Watkins Glen Race Track in Schuyler County and featured these three historic bands with 600,000 fans in attendance.
Each band will play both days of Summer Jam 50 at Wonderland Forest in Lafayette, as she weekend culminates with a full two-set recreation from Dark Star Orchestra of the Grateful Dead’s original show on July 28, 1973.
Wonderland Forest’s location in the rolling hills of Central New York’s Apple Valley offers the perfect atmosphere for a variety of special events and occasions. Camp Wonderland, for long a local camping site, will soon feature vintage RVs for rent, private glamping, as well as traditional camping sites. Gatsby Landing is an elegant indoor/outdoor event area that can accommodate wedding ceremonies and receptions, team-building excursions, and much more, all surrounded by the breathtaking views of Apple Valley.
We are honored to be hosting our first event at Wonderland Forest by recreating this iconic music festival. Wonderland Forest promises to be an amazing new venue experience for music lovers, campers, and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

Big House Foundation’s primary mission is to preserve and promote the rich musical heritage and inclusive diverse culture of The Allman Brothers Band through music education programs and exhibits.

Following up on her successful Dead of Winter Residency singer-songwriter and classically trained harpist Mikaela Davis will be playing a Here Comes Sunshine Residency in May at Upstate locations like Buffalo, Albany, Syracuse, and more.

Mikaela Davis is a native of Rochester, navigating folk, rock, and chamber pop in her music. She emerged in the early 2010s showcasing her harp skills with solo covers of indie singer/songwriters, producing her debut album Delivery in 2018. At age eight she began studying classical harp at the Crane School of Music, writing her own songs after that, and touring whenever she wasn’t in school. Since her debut, she has released several singles, including August’s release of “Left Hand Path,” and has shared the stage with Bob Weir, Christian McBride, Bon Iver, and more. She also performs with her band Southern Star, recently recording at the Relix Studio in New York City, releasing an exclusive Relix Studios vinyl.
Davis recently announced she will be playing a Here Comes Sunshine Residency in May in multiple Upstate cities like Ithaca, Buffalo, Albany, and Syracuse, with additional one-off shows in Burlington, VT, and the Rochester Lilac Festival. All residency shows will feature two sets, a mixture of original & Grateful Dead songs. Along with the announcement of these shows, Davis says a brand new album is in the works, to be announced at a later date.

Grammy and Academy Award-nominated rock band Counting Crows are scheduled to tour this summer with Dashboard Confessional, performing at five amphitheaters in New York.
Formed in San Francisco, Counting Crows’ career spans seven studio albums over nearly three decades. The band’s debut studio album, August and Everything After, was released in Sept. 1993 and peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 weekly chart. They found further success when their 1996 second studio album, Recovering the Satellites, peaked at number 1 on the Billboard 200 weekly chart. Their music has been prominently featured in pop culture, including “Colorblind”, from their 1999 third album This Dessert Life, being included in the soundtrack for the 1999 film Cruel Intentions. Their seventh studio album, Somewhere Under Wonderland, was released in 2014, and their newest EP, Butter Miracle, was released in 2021.
Dashboard Confessional
Rock band Dashboard Confessional originated in Boca Raton, Florida, and is led by singer Chris Carrabba. Their debut album, The Swiss Army Romance, was released in March 2000. They released their ninth album, All The Truth That I Can Tell, in 2022, touring with fellow rock band Jimmy Eat World in support of the album on the “Surviving the Truth” tour. The band has a long history with Counting Crows, first meeting in 2003 at the 17th annual Bridge School Benefit Concert. In the nearly 20 years since they have formed both a professional and personal relationship together.
