  • Lil Wayne ‘Welcome To Tha Carter’ Tour Stops at Apollo Theater on April 16

    Grammy-winning artist, Lil Wayne, has announced the dates for his upcoming spring tour. The Welcome To Tha Carter Tour, presented by Young Money, Rolling Loud and Live Nation, will see the 40-year-old rapper perform countrywide. The 28-city expedition kicks-off on Tuesday, April 4 at The Fillmore in Minneapolis, MN, with stops in Los Angeles and Harlem’s famed Apollo Theater in New York, NY also scheduled.

    Lil Wayne will be making a stop at Harlem’s Apollo Theater as part of his ‘Welcome To Tha Carter Tour.’

    The tour announcement comes ahead of The Recording Academy’s Black Music Collective pre-GRAMMY event, where Lil Wayne will receive the prestigious Global Impact Award for his iconic personal and professional achievements in the industry. All in all, Lil Wayne was presented with the award by long-time collaborator and friend DJ Khaled. By the same token, Drake paid tribute to his mentor and friend for this prestigious award.

    One of the most prominent hip hop acts of the last two decades, Lil Wayne ran the hip hop-scene in the mid-2000’s. The Young Money founder had a dominant run on the charts and gave endless hip hop cuts to die-hard fans with his run of Dedication and No Ceillings mixtape series. Moreover, he has cemented his legacy as one of the best-selling artists of all-time with over 100 million records sold worldwide.

    Not to mention, Lil Wayne has garnered 26 BET Awards, 4 Billboard Music Awards, 7 MTV Awards, 4 Soul Train Awards and 8 BMI Awards.   • Sparks to Perform at Beacon Theatre

    In their more than 50-year history, pop-rock duo Sparks have never headlined a tour as big as the one they’re about to embark on this May. The duo will be performing in four North American venues, with the first at the Beacon Theatre in New York on Tuesday, June 27, and the last at a to-be-announced venue in their hometown of Los Angeles, CA on Sunday, July 16.

    The world tour is in support of Sparks’ 26th studio album, The Girl Crying In Her Latee, arriving Friday, May 26 via Island Records.

    Sparks is a pop duo consisting of brothers Ron and Russel Mael. They grew up in Pacific Palisades, an affluent beach neighborhood in Los Angeles, CA. The brothers have been performing for over 50 years, since their late teens/early adult years. Prior to The Girl Crying In Her Latee, they were signed with Island Records from 1974-76. Their upcoming 26th studio album is their first release with the label in nearly 50 years.

    The Beacon Theatre, located on Broadway between 74th and 75th streets, was built in 1929 and seats 2,600 guests. In 2006, the venue was acquired by Madison Square Garden Entertainment. Other than Sparks, some of the greatest names in music have played at the Beacon Theatre, such as the Rolling Stones, Steely Dan, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Coldplay, Ray LaMontagne, and Eddie Vedder. In October 2014, The Allman Brothers Band performed their final concert there.

  • Billy Joel Announces August Performance at MSG

    By popular demand, long time New York music sensation Billy Joel will continue his concert residency at Madison Square Garden. The venue announced that Joel’s August 29 performance will mark his 93rd monthly and 139th lifetime show at the arena. Named a franchise by MSG in December 2013, the upcoming 93rd performance for Billy Joel comes nearly 10 years after he started his residency.

    Billy Joel’s career spans more than 50 years, earning him a number of awards. The sixth best-selling recording artist of all time, his song “Piano Man” was chosen for preservation by the Library of Congress in 2016 for its “cultural, historic, and artistic significance.” Joel ranks as one of the most popular and respected entertainers in history.

    Significantly, in Dec. 2013, Joel received one of the top cultural awards in the country, The Kennedy Center Honors. He has won six Grammy Awards, including the Grammy Legend Award, and is a member of the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Joel has won various industry awards, awards including a Tony Award for “Movin’ Out,” a Broadway musical based on his work.

    In Nov. 2014, Joel received the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. The award honors living musical artists’ lifetime achievements in promoting the genre of song as a vehicle of cultural understanding, entertaining and informing audiences, and inspiring new generations. Moreover, that same month, he won the ASCAP Centennial Award, which is presented to American music icons for their achievements in their respective genres.

    Joel performed at MSG’s benefit concert, “12-12-12, The Concert For Sandy Relief,” to raise awareness and money for those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Similarly, he performed at “The Concert for New York City,” to provide aid and relief to the victims and heroes of 9/11. Adding another milestone to his career, Joel has also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

    Tickets for the Aug. 29 show go on sale to the general public starting Friday, Feb. 10 starting at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster. Tickets will also be available at the MSG box office on Saturday, Feb. 11.

  • NYCB Theatre at Westbury to Eight Shows to Catholic Health Concert Series

    Long Island will become a hotspot for music entertainment this year when the NYCB Theatre at Westbury opens its doors to some of the world’s biggest performers. On Jan. 30, the venue announced eight new shows as part of its ongoing Catholic Health Concert Series. The entertainment venue is located just outside Westbury in the hamlet of Jericho.

    The Westbury Music Fair became a reality on June 18, 1956, when the three entrepreneurs opened their first Westbury production. After 10 years of presenting Long Island with the best of Broadway and top-name talent, the theatre was expanded in 1966. This expansion provided the venue with the ability to provide top-tier theatre entertainment all year round. Still in operation today, the NYCB Theatre is now owned and operated by Live Nation Entertainment.

    The new acts will be rolling out from Spring to Fall. Terry Fator on April 23; classic rockers Cheap Trick on May 18, and Chicago on June 23; Pop Icon Johnny Mathis on July 22;  tributes to ABBA and Elvis Presley, on Aug. 9 and 23, respectively; singer-songwriter Peter Noone on Sept. 23; and comedian Howie Mandel on Nov. 19.

    Amongst these acts, also scheduled to perform are Tommy James and The Shondells on March 18; Nick Cannon’s Next Superstar Tour on April 6; Dionne Warwick on April 7; Theo Von on May 11; Kool and The Gang with the Spinners and Average White Band on May 12; The Temptations and the Four Tops on May 14; and Air Supplyon on Aug. 5.     Tickets will be made available beginning Friday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m. through LiveNation.com. “Fee fee” tickets to all 2023 NYCB Theatre at Westbury shows will be available from Friday, Feb. 3. until Sunday, Feb. 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the theatre box office. A chance to win tickets will take place on Saturday, February 4 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., accompanied by refreshments and music.

  • Beyonce Adds Second Show at MetLife Stadium in July

    Beyonce is returning to the stage for the first in over six years, with her Renaissance World Tour Beginning this Spring. Beyonce will be performing twice at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, as part of the North America Leg of her tour, on Saturday, July 29. Originally only scheduled for one day, high demand from her “Beyhive” prompted the performer to add a second show at the venue, on Sunday, July 30.

    The tour is in support of her seventh studio album, Renaissance, which came out last summer. Preceding Renaissance‘s release, the single “Break My Soul” has received acclaim. Following the album’s release was “Cuff It” to a similar reception.

    Ticketing begins Monday, Feb. 6, starting with an exclusive presale to BeyHive members. The North American leg of the tour utilizes Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan technology to ensure more tickets get sold. Fans can register here.

    Produced by Parkwood Entertainment and promoted by Live Nation, the 2023 world tour kicks off on May 10, 2023, at Friends Arena in Stockholm, SE. Outside MetLife Stadium, once Beyonce starts the North American leg of the tour, she will be performing in Boston, Charlotte, Dallas, Detroit, Kansas City, Miami, Nashville, San Francisco, Tampa, and more.

    Since 2013, Beyonce’s tours have partnered with BeyGOOD, an initiative she founded to support people and programs around the world. Continuing its legacy of philanthropy, BeyGOOD will support entrepreneurs in various cities along the tour. In total, 1,000 small businesses will have been supported through grant opportunities with a commitment totaling $1,000,000.

    BeyGOOD will support students through scholarship funds. A total of 10 colleges in different cities will have received $100,000 to give to one student of their choice. BeyGOOD’s total scholarship commitment during Renaissance World Tour will be $1,000,000.

    In partnership with Beyonce and the BeyGOOD foundation, Citi and Verizon will purchase 100 tickets combined across the U.S. for distribution to local community initiatives.

  • Trivium and Beartooth Co-Headline Tour at Buffalo Riverworks and The Paramount in Huntington

    Trivium and Beartooth have announced they are co-headlining a tour stopping at 29 cities, among them Buffalo Riverworks on May 9 and the following day in Huntington at The Paramount on Wednesday, May 10. Malevolence and Archetypes Collide will join the bands on all dates across the upcoming tour.

    Trivium has expressed excitement for this tour, saying “Trivitooth! We are elated to announce our co-headlining monster of a tour with the incredible Beartooth. We have been fans of what they do, and pals with them for ages — so it’s great we’re finally doing something so massive together. Trivium and Beartooth are both bands supported by each of our wonderful fan-bases — so we know these shows are going to go off.”

    On collaboring with Malevolence and Achetypes Collide, Trivium added, “Add in Malevolence, one of our favorite bands on the planet, and Archetypes Collide, one of Beartooth’s favorites, and we have a hell of a bill.” “I’m so excited to go out on this amazing tour with metal legends Trivium,” said Beartooth frontman Caleb Shomo.

    Additionally, Pollister named The Paramount in Huntington the #1 worldwide club back in December. First opening in 2014, Buffalo Riverworks has been named the city’s top waterfront entertainment destination.

    Declared by Forbes as “inching towards a tipping point of becoming the latest arena headliner,” Beartooth released their latest hit Riptide in 2022. The song sees frontman Caleb Shomo put the pain of the past in the rearview mirror as he takes the steering wheel from fate to command his own destiny, and focuses on the struggles of self-acceptance and mental health, two themes that have defined the band since their inception.

    The upcoming tour supports In the Court of the Dragon released in 2021 through Roadrunner Records. Performing for more than two decades, the band has continued to receive International acclaim from The New York Times, NPR, Forbes, Billboard, and more. Through the years, Trivium performed alongside Metallica, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and many others and graced the main stages of Download, Bloodstock, KNOTFEST, and more.

    Tickets can be purchased starting Friday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster. Ticketless VIP upgrades are being offered to fans as a joint package, allowing fans to meet both bands.

  • Bryan Adams Will Tour at Madison Square Garden and Key Bank Center

    Canadian musician Bryan Adams is returning to the road for his So Happy It Hurts tour with rock ‘n’ roll band Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, in support of his 15th studio album of the same name. The tour includes stops at Madison Square Garden and Key Bank Center in Buffalo.

    Adams and Joan Jett and the Black Hearts will perform at Madison Square Garden on Friday, June 9. The tour will stop at the Key Bank Center on Tuesday, June 13. Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 3 at 12 p.m. “So Happy It Hurts” is also nominated for Best Rock Performance at the 2023 Grammy awards, this Sunday, February 5.

    Bryan Adams is regarded as one the most exciting live musicians in the world for over 40 years. Adams’ songwriting has garnered him a number of awards and accolades, including three Academy Award nominations, five Golden Globe nominations, Grammy Award and 20 Juno Awards.

    Rock ‘n’ roll was largely a male dominated genre during Jett’s youth. She formed her band The Blackhearts in 1979, and they released their first album “I Love Rock ‘n Roll,” in 1981. Their debut single of the same name shortly followed, itself a cover of the hit single by Arrows. Jett has since become an inspiration to generations for her work in music, film, television, Broadway, and humanitarianism. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts returned to the road last summer with Def Leppard, Motley Crue and Poison for The Stadium Tour, after two delays due to Covid-19.

  • In Focus: Penelope Scott Plays One-Off Show at Baby’s All Right

    On Friday, January 27th, Penelope Scott played a one-off show at the iconic venue Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn. With support from openers Hank and Yot Club, there was a dynamic and vivacious energy as the performances spoke for themselves and the audience participated in their own way.

Scott’s debut album, Public Void, was released on Bandcamp on August 29, 2020, then on streaming services on September 25, 2020. In November 2020, her music found a larger audience on Tik Tok. Her song “Rät” went viral with tens of thousands of videos made with the song. The song expresses disappointment with Silicon Valley and technology billionaires, particularly Elon Musk “Rät” peaked at 29 on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs Chart.

    A week after playing at the first annual This is Home benefit show at Racket on Jan 11th, Penelope announced the Jan 27th one-off show on Instagram.  Her companions were Yot Club, aka Ryan Kaiser (who also played at the benefit show), and Hank, both of whom played their first ever Baby’s All Right show on the 27th.

    Hank performed first, letting the audience know that despite being an NYC local, they had never played at Baby’s All Right. Hank’s music is self-described as “music for truck drivers who wear short jorts and rip juuls” which was evident in their setlist. With a sound that can be described as pop indie tunes with a southern twang, their set kicked the show off with an animated and captivating vibe.

    After his last appearance alongside Penelope and friends at the This is Home Benefit show on Jan 11th, Yot Club (Ryan Kaiser) took the stage again right after Hank. Although it was also his first time ever playing a show at Baby’s, he has toured with Penelope before, revealing he loves opening for her fans due to their open and energetic demeanor.

    During his set, Kaiser played his signature lo-fi bedroom pop beats with songs like “YKWIM?”, “Japan”, and a Mountain Goats cover of “No Children” for what turned out to be an electric performance with the crowd screaming back lyrics.

    By the time Penelope Scott came on stage, the crowd was thoroughly warmed up and buzzing with excitement. She showcased her musical prowess by jumping from her borrowed guitar (courtesy of Kaiser) to the keyboard, to her prerecorded electronic tracks. Throughout the show, her moxie and vivacious spirit infected the crowd as she busted out some dance moves, accepted a fan-made bracelet, and did a bottle flip challenge during an instrumental break. By the time the show came to a close, Scott debuted a couple of half-baked bangers that she affectionately referred to as “campfire time”. After closing her eyes and throwing her setlist into the crowd, she left the crowd with a liveliness that defines a Penelope Scott show.

  • Kingston’s Old Dutch Church to host Al Olender “Alentines Day” Show on Feb. 4

    Singer/Songwriter Al Olender has announced a one-off Valentines themed show at Old Dutch Church in Kingston on February 4th.

    The show, dubbed “Alentines Day”, will be a “cathartic taking back of Valentines Day for everyone” says Olender. Special Guests will join her in performing new songs and old favorites off her debut album Easy Crier. The show is also dedicated to the city of Kingston itself, culminating in an intimate dream performance for Olender.

    “This show is for the broken-hearted, the new relationship energy you don’t know where to put, the crushes you’ve had and have and maybe will meet at this show.”

    On her debut full-length album Easy Crier, Olender asks: what happens if we vow to never tell a lie, ever again? On Easy Crier, Olender pieces together her most vulnerable moments to produce a celebratory and beautiful rumination on grief, and reminds us of the power that comes in really getting to know yourself.

    Recorded at The Church in Harlemville, NY, the album sees delicate keys dance alongside acoustic plucks, brooding strings and lush harmonies. There are moments of exploring the often fine line between funny and sad that makes Easy Crier a portal for relief. It’s an album that takes each shattered, heartbroken piece and puts them back together to form a strangely beautiful mosaic.

    Touring After A Winning Year

    Her newest single “Too Far To Be Gone” features guest appearances by her friends Sonny Landreth, Cedric Burnside, Kenny Brown, Oliver Wood, Charles Hodges and Aaron Lee Tasjan.

    She was also recently nominated for four Blues Music Awards for Album Of The Year and Contemporary Blues Album Of The Year (for Done Gone Too Far),  Song Of The Year (for “Too Far To Be Gone”) and Instrumentalist Of The Year (Vocals). Copeland was also the 2021 Blues Music Award for B.B. King Entertainer Of The Year.

    Shemekia Copeland is is considered the blues/soul voice of her generation. As a contemporary Black woman, she brings her immense talent and charisma to topical new originals that reflect her deep social conscience. She delivers her hard-hitting musical truths through her eyes, those of a young American Black woman, a mother, and a wife. But she likes to have fun too, and her music reflects that.

    “This album was made by all sides of me — happy, sad, silly, irate — they’re all a part who I am and who we all are. I’m not political. I’m just talking about what’s happening in this country” Says Copeland.

    Copeland has performed thousands of gigs at clubs, festivals and concert halls all over the world since her Alligator Records debut Turn The Heat Up hit in 1998. She has appeared in films, on national television, NPR, and in magazines and newspapers. She’s sung with Bonnie Raitt, Keith Richards, Carlos Santana, and many others. Copeland has also shared a bill with The Rolling Stones. In 2012, she performed with B.B. King, Mick Jagger, Buddy Guy, and others at the White House for President and Mrs. Obama. She has appeared on PBS’s Austin City Limits and was the subject of a six-minute feature on the PBS News Hour.

    NPR’s Jazz Night In America recently aired an hour-long program featuring Copeland. In April 2022, she performed at the United Nations General Assembly Hall for International Jazz Day celebrations. Copeland continues to host her own popular daily blues radio show on SiriusXM’s Bluesville
