  • EDM Artist Kayzo Takes Over Buffalo’s Town Ballroom

    Electronic artist Kayzo performed for Buffalo locals at the Town Ballroom for his Unleashed XL tour on Thursday, March 16. His blend of EDM and rock has introduced a new wave of dubstep, bringing drums and guitar into his live shows to add a unique aspect to his sets.

    Openers of the night included Automhate who at just 15 years old is making a name for himself on this tour. Followed by riddim producer Infekt and popular dubstep artist Ray Volpe. All of which kept the crowd pumped up before Kayzo took the stage and even blew a speaker beforehand.

    Kayzo, also known as Hayden Capuozzo, had his career first take off in 2012 when he won Insomniac’s Discovery Project challenge. This then started a ripple effect for his growing fandom around the world. He later started playing for renowned festivals and venues. In 2018 Kayzo launched his very own record label Welcome Records further leaving his imprint in the scene as well as bringing attention to other new talent.

    When Kayzo took the stage at the Town Ballroom a wave of electric energy filled the venue. The popular producer not only knows how to hype up a crowd but also introduce different elements into the EDM scene that make his shows a new experience. Joined by Tyler Lacca on drums and Ben Havok on guitar, the trio were undeniably rage worthy.

    Kayzo performed many of his hits like “Battle Drums,” “Domination,” and “Suffocate.” He also performed remixes from various artists such as Sullivan King, John Summit, and Fred Again. The EDM producer does not shy away from doing what is different. As many EDM artists do he samples from popular songs. Although, what makes Kayzo standout is how he incorporates old school rock and metal into these tracks.

    This blend of live music and bass is something that fans don’t know they’re missing out on until they hear it live. Which paid mind to the nonstop mosh pits that opened up throughout the show. Opener Automhate even joined in on the moshing for his birthday celebration.

  • In Focus: Rising Jam Band Dogs In A Pile at Buffalo Iron Works

    Asbury Park, New Jersey natives Dogs In A Pile stopped in Buffalo for their latest tour on Sunday March 12. Although these guys are considered young in the jam band scene, their chemistry and talent on stage pays no mind to that.

    Opener Hayley Jane blew away the crowd with her infectious energy and emotive vocals. She brings various styles to the stage including 60s/70s rock, musical funk, blues, soul and more. She played a few songs with Dogs In A Pile which was captivatig to see the collaboration.

    The eclectic quintet is made up of Jimmy Law (lead guitarist/vocalist), Joe Babick (drums), Jeremy Kaplan (keyboard), Sam Lucid (bass), and Brian Murray (guitar). Babick and Law started jamming together as young kids. Later on they met the other three and formed the band in 2018. They have built their sound through instrumentation of aural mosaics as well as use of psychedelia.

    Dogs In A Pile played a wide range of material on their setlist full of funk tunes and covers. They also performed songs off of their newly released album Bloom. Some of which were “Today,” “Bent Strange,” and “Fenway.”

    The group played late into the night filling Buffalo Ironworks with their blend of genres and introspective soundscapes. Dogs In A Pile uses their storytelling techniques to make connective music and fun live shows. Additionally, their energy is undeniable to the crowd which left many new fans of the boys’ ever-growing Dog Pound.

  • KeyBank Center in Buffalo is the Only New York Stop on Adam Sandler’s Tour

    Actor and comedian Adam Sandler is continuing his critically acclaimed comedy tour this spring, with shows in seven US cities, including Buffalo at the KeyBank Center. Kicking off on April 13, Sandler will make his Buffalo appearance on April 16, as the tour will be a short-lived one, ending on April 21.

    Born in Brooklyn, Adam Sandler is famous for his comedic work, including 1999’s Big Daddy and the 2010 film Grown Ups, just to name a few. The actor’s theatrical releases have grossed more than $3 billion worldwide, and his Netflix original movies have been some of the most successful releases on the streaming service. His latest film, Hustle, was released last June, becoming a favorite among critics and audiences. Sandler began transitioning to Netflix as early as 2016, when his 2018 comedy special 100% Fresh, his first in 20 years, was released on the service.

    For his work in stand-up and films, Sandler has won a number of awards, most recently a Kid’s Choice Award for King of Comedy at this year’s ceremony, and a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role at the 2023 Screen Actor’s Guild Awards.

  • The Gaslight Anthem Tour makes 3 Stops in New York this Spring

    Rock band The Gaslight Anthem is following up their 2022 comeback with a headline tour this spring. During the tour, the band will perform at the Buffalo Outer Harbor Site, The Paramount in Huntington, and the Beak & Skiff Apple Orchards in LaFayette.

    The band’s 2022 tour marked the first time since 2018 that they performed together.

    The Gaslight Anthem consists of Brian Fallon (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Alex Rosamilia (lead guitar, backing vocals), Alex Levine (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Benny Horowitz (drums, percussion, backing vocals). The band first came on the music scene in 2007, with their debut album, Sink or Swim. Their most recent album, Get Hurt, was released in 2014, after which the band went on an indefinite hiatus. After a brief reunion for the 2018 Governor’s Ball Music Festival, the group officially got back together in early 2022. The Gaslight Anthem announced they were working on their yet-to-be-titled new album in Dec. 2022.

  • Spafford Bring the Jams to Buffalo Iron Works 

    Jam rock band Spafford made a stop in Buffalo for their winter tour on Tuesday, January 31st. The group has traveled all over the country in honor of their latest album release Simple Mysteries. This 4th studio album of theirs was recorded throughout the course of the pandemic and now gets to be played for fans everywhere.

    Firstly Litz opened up the funk filled night at Buffalo Iron Works. Their use of various musical influences allows listeners to sonically transport. The group utilizes funky horn riffs, pounding bass, and progressive rhythms that just make people easily drawn to their energy.

    Spafford then later took the stage and gave the crowd an awe-inspiring performance. The members include Brian Moss (guitar/vocals), Jordan Fairless (bass/vocals), Cory Schechtman (keys/vocals), Nick Tkachyk (drums/vocals). They first played “Funkadelic” followed by “The Remedy.”

    Watching Spafford’s improvisational abilities and ways they create rhythms on stage is astonishing. These festival regulars know exactly how to put on a show and use their extended musical palette to create off-the-cuff extended jams. Their cover of Primitive Radio Gods song, “Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth With Money in My Hand,” exhibited exactly how each of these musicians communicate with one another through a single note to create a journey through their music.

    The quartet played late into the night and ended their set with their song, “The Reprise.” It fully encapsulated the night of groovy tunes and the range of influences that this band uses. Spafford left the venue full of fans impressed and ready for more.

  • Trivium and Beartooth Co-Headline Tour at Buffalo Riverworks and The Paramount in Huntington

    Trivium and Beartooth have announced they are co-headlining a tour stopping at 29 cities, among them Buffalo Riverworks on May 9 and the following day in Huntington at The Paramount on Wednesday, May 10. Malevolence and Archetypes Collide will join the bands on all dates across the upcoming tour.

    Trivium has expressed excitement for this tour, saying “Trivitooth! We are elated to announce our co-headlining monster of a tour with the incredible Beartooth. We have been fans of what they do, and pals with them for ages — so it’s great we’re finally doing something so massive together. Trivium and Beartooth are both bands supported by each of our wonderful fan-bases — so we know these shows are going to go off.”

    On collaboring with Malevolence and Achetypes Collide, Trivium added, “Add in Malevolence, one of our favorite bands on the planet, and Archetypes Collide, one of Beartooth’s favorites, and we have a hell of a bill.” “I’m so excited to go out on this amazing tour with metal legends Trivium,” said Beartooth frontman Caleb Shomo.

    Additionally, Pollister named The Paramount in Huntington the #1 worldwide club back in December. First opening in 2014, Buffalo Riverworks has been named the city’s top waterfront entertainment destination.

    Declared by Forbes as “inching towards a tipping point of becoming the latest arena headliner,” Beartooth released their latest hit Riptide in 2022. The song sees frontman Caleb Shomo put the pain of the past in the rearview mirror as he takes the steering wheel from fate to command his own destiny, and focuses on the struggles of self-acceptance and mental health, two themes that have defined the band since their inception.

    The upcoming tour supports In the Court of the Dragon released in 2021 through Roadrunner Records. Performing for more than two decades, the band has continued to receive International acclaim from The New York Times, NPR, Forbes, Billboard, and more. Through the years, Trivium performed alongside Metallica, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and many others and graced the main stages of Download, Bloodstock, KNOTFEST, and more.

    Tickets can be purchased starting Friday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster. Ticketless VIP upgrades are being offered to fans as a joint package, allowing fans to meet both bands.

  • Bryan Adams Will Tour at Madison Square Garden and Key Bank Center

    Canadian musician Bryan Adams is returning to the road for his So Happy It Hurts tour with rock ‘n’ roll band Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, in support of his 15th studio album of the same name. The tour includes stops at Madison Square Garden and Key Bank Center in Buffalo.

    Adams and Joan Jett and the Black Hearts will perform at Madison Square Garden on Friday, June 9. The tour will stop at the Key Bank Center on Tuesday, June 13. Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 3 at 12 p.m. “So Happy It Hurts” is also nominated for Best Rock Performance at the 2023 Grammy awards, this Sunday, February 5.

    Bryan Adams is regarded as one the most exciting live musicians in the world for over 40 years. Adams’ songwriting has garnered him a number of awards and accolades, including three Academy Award nominations, five Golden Globe nominations, Grammy Award and 20 Juno Awards.

    Rock ‘n’ roll was largely a male dominated genre during Jett’s youth. She formed her band The Blackhearts in 1979, and they released their first album “I Love Rock ‘n Roll,” in 1981. Their debut single of the same name shortly followed, itself a cover of the hit single by Arrows. Jett has since become an inspiration to generations for her work in music, film, television, Broadway, and humanitarianism. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts returned to the road last summer with Def Leppard, Motley Crue and Poison for The Stadium Tour, after two delays due to Covid-19.

  • Lotus Sells Out Buffalo’s Town Ballroom 

    On Saturday January 28, electronic jam band Lotus made a stop in Buffalo in honor of their new album Bloom & Recede. The Town Ballroom was packed with Lotus fans for a sold-out show from the Indiana natives.

    The group consists of Jesse Miller (bass/synths), Mike Greenfield (drums), Tim Palmieri (guitar), Luke Miller (guitar/keyboards), and Chuck Morris (percussion). Lotus is known for blending electronic with jam music forging a new musical taste in the jam band landscape. They don’t shy away from any genres. Their influences consist of electronic dance music, funk, post-rock and dance rock.  

    The long-running quintet opened up the night playing “Tip of the Tongue,” followed by “Contagion” which they hadn’t played live in three years. Lotus brings a nuanced groove to jam band culture. They meticulously build up beats and take the crowd on a journey through their music.

    For their second act they performed a cover of the popular Rufus Du Sol song “Innerbloom.” The use of synths and guitar riffs gave a new spin on this EDM classic which definitely needs to be on Spotify soon. 

    They ended the night with an even greater crowd pleaser: a cover of Talking Heads, “Once in a Lifetime.” Lotus enhances energy levels and uses psychedelic rock stylings to make their show an experience for all show goers. Not to mention their lighting exhibited the mood of each song and only furthered their effortlessly addicting ambience that they can create.
