Dave Matthews Band recently closed their summer tour, and for a group that’s pretty much been on tour nonstop for the last 20-plus years, they immediately announced their Fall Tour. A very short one that is, with only eight East Coast dates, kicking it off earlier this month on November 7 in Savannah, GA.
As they made their way up the East Coast, the run of shows would come to a close at Madison Square Garden for two sold-out shows.
Highlights from Friday night included guest appearances by Susan Tedeschi on “The Weight”, being joined by Derek Trucks on “All Along The Watchtower” and “Lie In Our Graves”, plus bass from James Genus on “#41”, and trombone and vocals from Trombone Shorty on “Come Together” and trumpet from Jon Faddis on “Jimi Thing” and “Brick House”.

Jimkata, the three-piece anthemic, synth-washed, electro-rock band based out of both Ithaca and Los Angeles have announced Winter Tour dates for 2024, with six Northeast performances planned.

Jimkata has built a large grassroots following over the last two decades, including two and a half years on hiatus, which was recently ended. The group have released six studio albums all with their signature swirling synths, infectious pop hooks and candid lyrics.
Jimkata’s Winter Tour for 2024 will include stops in NYC at Nublu, Buffalo Iron Works, and The Waterhole in Saranac Lake. These dates are in addition to the upcoming show at Photo City Music Hall on Saturday, December 2.

It’s been five months since Half Moon Run were in New York for their album release show on the Rooftop of the Live Nation headquarters. On Friday, November 17, they returned with the purpose of conquering Brooklyn, headlining The Music Hall of Williamsburg, along with support by Le Ren.
Fresh off a Tour of Europe that ended in October, this current tour started in the US in late October and will be running into their home country of Canada until the end of the year.
Half Moon Run hit the stage around 9pm to a very packed and crowded room. Music Hall of Williamsburg is a very small and intimate room, it allows for a great concert experience both in sound and lighting and overall atmosphere. The band got a massive Brooklyn cheer as they hit the stage and wasted no time by starting off the night with their hit song “You Can Let Go”. the Power Trio of Devon Portielje, Conner Molander, and Dylan Phillips captivated the audience with their skill of rotating instrument changes between them, all pretty much-playing everything on stage at one point or another in the show.
The energy at the show was great, the band leaned heavily on songs from the new release Salt as well as the debut album Dark Eyes. The highlight other than the very strong opening was the Encore which consisted of unforgettable performances of “Favourite Boy,” “Fire Escape,” and the finale “Full Circle” which is always amazing to see live.
Here’s hoping they come back to our area in 2024 and play a much bigger venue next time.

Legendary heaby metal group Pantera announced the second leg of their North American headline tour, including a stop at New York City’s Madison Square Garden (MSG) on February 22. Following the band’s 20-date tour this past summer, the band has announced 14 new shows across the country throughout February.
Pantera formed in Arlington, Texas in 1981, and have released nine full-length albums since their formation. Their current lineup features original members, vocalist Philip H. Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown, as well as new additions guitarist Zakk Wylde and drummer Charlie Benante.
Pantera’s upcoming tour will feature special guest Lamb Of God opening at every date on the second leg of this tour. More special guests are to be announced.

In addition to their headline tour, Pantera is scheduled to support legendary metal group Metallica at five stadium shows next summer on their M72 World Tour. The band will also make a trip across the pond in June to play at Download Fest in Derby, UK.

A fine Brooklyn Bowl tradition, The Hold Steadywill be returning with a four night residency at the famed venue from November 29 to December 2.
The Hold Steady is a Brooklyn-based band that has performed in all 50 states and throughout Canada, Europe and Australia. A band upholding the values and integrity of indie and punk rock, The Hold Steady embrace rock classicism, fusing the bar band vigor of the Replacements with the epic-scale musical backdrops of Bruce Springsteen, while vocalist Craig Finn spilled out stories that were as impassioned as they were unpretentiously literate.
The Hold Steady have attracted a fervently dedicated following who embraced the beery, anthemic style of their debut album, 2004’s Almost Killed Me. They refined their music and lyrical stance while increasing their guitar on 2014’s ambitious Teeth Dreams, and they explored an alienated culture with near-operatic sweep on 2021’s Open Door Policy and 2023’s The Price of Progress.
Jon Batiste has announced his Uneasy Tour: Purifying The Airwaves For The People in support of his newly Grammy nominated album World Music Radio, with one stop in NYC.
Batiste was born into a musical life being part of the musical dynasty, the Batiste family. He started playing percussion and drums at the age of 8 in the Batiste Brothers Band, and from there, he only developed his musical skills even further.
Today, his tour announcement comes on the heels of Batiste’s six 2024 GRAMMY nominations, with five on behalf of World Music Radio. His nominations include Album of the Year, Record of the Year for “Worship” and Song of the Year for “Butterfly.” Additionally, he earned nominations for Best Jazz Performance for “Movement 18 (Heroes)” and Best American Roots Performance for “Butterfly” from the album, as well as a nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for his collaboration with Lana Del Rey on her track “Candy Necklace.” Jon Batiste will make several appearances in support of the album in November including the world-famous Macy’s Day Thanksgiving Parade on November 23 and annual Root 100 Gala where he’ll be honored as the first “Voice and Vision” Award Recipient at the Apollo Theater on December 5.
World Music Radio invites the world to experience the marriage of hard-hitting pop songs to a rich tapestry of international sounds, with Batiste collaborating with a diverse range of global talents including Lil Wayne, Lana Del Rey, Kenny G, Fireboy DML, J.I.D, Camilo, NewJeans and more. The album received critical acclaim upon its release, with NPR describing it as “a sprawling exploration of what global music can sound like” and NME praising Batiste for “reinventing his sonic wheel.”
In 2020, Jon Batiste was honored with an Academy Award® for Best Original Score for his work on the Disney/Pixar film SOUL, which he shared with fellow composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. After spending more than a decade traveling the world together with the touring act Turkuaz, the members of Cool Cool Cool decided to team up and form their own band in 2022. “Never Noticed” is the much anticipated debut single from Cool Cool Cool. The track is loaded with entrancing vocals, hard hitting horn lines and an ever-driving groove, marrying vintage tones with modern production. At its core, “Never Noticed” is the first true collaboration from a group of people who, while having performed together for years, perhaps didn’t quite understand what they had together.
This song lays a funky beat mixed with lofi-type vocals, making a truly different sound. It’s relaxing, yet makes you want to get up and dance. The most striking part of this arrangement are the horns– so powerful and yet seamlessly weaved into the music so that they’re not overbearing. “Never Noticed” will transport you to a funky club down in New Orleans: a place where you can relax and just feel the music.

Peter Hook & The Light announced a run of North American tour dates, scheduling for August and September 2024.
Including a stop at New York City’s Brooklyn Steel, the former New Order and Joy Division bassist will have surprises in store for fans of all his music ventures.
This run of tour dates will specifically feature performances of the Substance albums by Joy Division and New Order in full, revisiting and celebrating Hook’s previous projects. Hook first revisited Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures in 2010 for a commemorative charity show, and has since done so every year from the discography of both Joy Division and New Order.
It still amazes me how enjoyable it is to play the Substance LPs. The contrast between Joy Division and New Order is very apparent but both complement each other very well. My only frustration is not being able to play more of our records each night. I am totally looking forward to the next phase. So, let’s enjoy some Substance and get ready for the future. The Olayan Group announced they have partnered with Kristopher Hull to bring classical music out of the concert hall and into The 550 Garden, the largest green space to be built in East Midtown in decades.
As part of the artist residency, the Garden will host live performances on Tuesdays and Thursdays in a limited engagement. Kristopher Hull is a cultural fixture in New York City, known for pushing his custom-mounted 1964 Baldwin Upright Piano around lower Manhattan, bringing a mix of Chopin études, preludes, and nocturnes into the Garden for the enjoyment of all New Yorkers.
Referred to as the “Pianist Errant” after the knight-errant Don Quixote, the majority of Hull’s work is performed in front of murals and in public gardens around Greenwich Village and the Lower East Side. Now, in partnership with 550 Madison, he is bringing live classical music to Midtown. Inspired by 550 Madison’s architectural heritage and the natural history of the region, the 550 Garden is East Midtown’s first new publicly accessible space in decades. Designed by architects Philip Johnson and John Burgee, 550 Madison Avenue is one of the city’s most recognizable architectural masterworks. It is a postmodern gem known for its distinctive “Chippendale” curved roof pediment and pink granite façade.
The reawakened space, open year-round and features a heated hearth seating area, embraces nature as an amenity for building tenants, area residents, and visitors. New Yorkers find solace within the Garden among trees and plants and now live classical music.
The 550 Garden offers an elegant and welcoming space where New Yorkers can immerse themselves in nature without stepping outside the heart of Midtown. Hull is a self-taught classical pianist who began learning the instrument at 20 years old, inspired by recordings of his favorite 20th-century pianists such as Vladimir Horowitz and Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli. He has also performed at some of the city’s most renowned street art venues like Freeman Alley, First Street Green Art Park, and the Park Avenue Tunnel. His performances at the Garden will feature Chopin and Mozart.

The anticipation for the album began to build during their 2022 world tour, where the sneak peek of the unreleased track “I Won’t” served as the catalyst. Fans eagerly speculated on the album’s title, unraveling the mystery on November 12, 2022, as “TMM” was revealed, prompting imaginative guesses like “The Music Men” and “Ten Meter Men.”
Building up to the release, the band strategically dropped singles, including the emotionally charged “God Is Really Real,” a poignant tribute to their father, Gary. The Irving Plaza show itself was a rollercoaster of emotions, pranks, and heartwarming moments that left fans buzzing with excitement. Jack kicked things off with a resolution to be more positive towards Ryan during this album cycle, but true to form, couldn’t resist poking fun at him after the first song, “Maybe Man”. Ryan, on the other hand, shared a humorous anecdote about a dozing-off 10 year old fan during “100 Bad Days,” emphasizing the cyclical enthusiasm whenever eye contact was made.
The band playfully teased the young fan chasing Ryan’s approval and pretended to entertain on fan song requests like “Thirsty” and an impromptu tattoo-drawing session. Jack continued the brotherly teasing, asserting that a young fan was seeking Ryan’s approval, deeming it underrated. Fan interactions included an acapella rendition of “Thirsty” by their photographer Austin, responding to a fan’s sign, and collaboratively drawing a fan’s next tattoo, with Jack humorously criticizing Adam’s addition.
“Steve’s Going to London” became a heartwarming sing-along, and the brothers shared a poignant moment, expressing gratitude for their late father, Gary, whose favorite thing surpassed even pastrami sandwiches (#2) and his sons (#3) — the fans. A Gary chant echoed through the crowd, and Jack revealed their dad heard the new album before his passing.
Drumming up nostalgia, Jack joined in on the drums for “Don’t Throw Out My Legos,” and a production breakdown preceded the track. “Inertia” got its inspiration from a friend’s inertia-laden job at a bank, adding a humorous touch to the performance. The show concluded with a faux farewell, leading into the encore with “Weak” and “2085,” leaving the audience on a high note and cementing AJR’s reputation for unforgettable live performances.
In tandem with the recent album promotion, AJR is making a stop at Rough Trade Records in NYC for an in-store record signing for “The Maybe Man”.
