New Paltz native Ryan Liberty Megan just released his chaotic video for his dreamy and melodic song “Sweep.”
The track hits your ears in all the right places with a groovy trumpet instrumental in the back as well as Ryan’s semi-raspy nostalgic voice. An alt-country track, “Sweep” is a song you can put on when you need a release, swaying back and forth to the guitars and harmonies dancing together in harmony.
Speaking of “Sweep,” Ryan Liberty Megan said “Imagine it like a phone call that’s being made to the most fragile part of you, giving you instructions on how to survive other humans, how to survive humanity. And in the end, the most important part of that advice or sage wisdom is to be able to just sweep it away. You need to be able to let things go.”
Ryan Liberty Megan is a New Paltz native, a doting father who gave up music to provide for his son, returning to music after about ten years, giving him that familiar relief. He started as a noise rock artist known for chaotic and rowdy shows, and turned the page into the simpler yet complex artist he is today. Reminiscent of acts such as Mr. Bungle, Ween, and Melvins, he transcends also into acts like Beck, Wilco, and The Flaming Lips.

The video accompanying “Sweep” is chaotic and brings the viewer on a journey. With a kaleidoscope of dark purples and lighter colors, the music video features Ryan singing the sweet tune, transitioning in and out of backgrounds that include things like dogs, horses, and the highway. The most intriguing part of the video is random trivia strewn throughout.
Some say things like “A snail can sleep for three years,” or “The eye makes movements 50 times every second.” About the video, Ryan said “I loaded this video with useless trivia, so no matter what, people will walk away with something they didn’t have before. My buddy owns a float spa, and he filmed me floating in a tank for some of this!”

Kitchen Dwellers, a genre-bending quartet from Bozeman, Montana, has announced their 2024 “L.F.G. Tour.”
Included on the tour for Kitchen Dwellers are two performances at Brooklyn Bowl Williamsburg, and one performance at the Westcott Theater in Syracuse, which round out the tour in March and April, 2024.
The quartet—Shawn Swain (mandolin), Torrin Daniels (banjo), Joe Funk (upright bass), and Max Davies (acoustic guitar)—twist bluegrass, folk, and rock through a kaleidoscope of homegrown stories, rich mythology, American West wanderlust, and psychedelic hues.
After amassing 5 million-plus streams, selling out shows, and receiving acclaim from Huffington Post, Relix, American Songwriter, Forbes, and more, the group brings audiences back for the ride on their third full-length album.
In the past, the group’s songs touched on the physical surroundings of Wise River, a 30-mile long river running through the Southwestern region of Montana. This time, the band decided to dive deeper and talk about the issues everyone has faced after the pandemic in 2020.

On the evening of Saturday, October 21, fans gathered at the legendary Brooklyn Bowl in Williamsburg to witness an unforgettable performance by Daniel Donato. The 1000 capacity venue was completely sold out as Daniel and his ensemble graced the stage, bringing his unique presentation, “Cosmic Country,” to the streets of Brooklyn.
Daniel, who is currently in the midst of his fall tour, made a resounding statement by packing this iconic venue to the brim. The atmosphere was electric. Taking the stage promptly at 8:00 PM, Daniel showcased not just his musical talent but also the profound connection he shares with his audience. “Cosmic Country,” originally the title of one of his albums, has become more than just a moniker; it symbolizes a journey into the world of Americana, and the boundaries he pushes as he explores each song.
Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, Daniel had previously made guest appearances at this venue earlier this year with the Kitchen Dwellers, and his growing popularity as an original artist has also seen him collaborating with mainstream icons. Daniel’s “Cosmic Country” experience takes the audience on a captivating journey, with his influences in jam band music shining through. Full of gritty energy, thoughtful storytelling, extremely tight improvisation, a spectacular light show, and a palpable connection to their audience, Kitchen Dwellers brought their unique brand of psychedelic bluegrass to Cohoes, NY on Thursday, October 12th.
No strangers to the Capital Region, Kitchen Dwellers have played the area many times over the years, but the second show of their 2023 fall tour would be their first at the historic Cohoes Music Hall, one of the oldest (and allegedly haunted) venues in the country. Delivering an absolute scorching performance, the level of musicianship on display was scary good.

Showing up to the corner of Remsen and Cayuga, you were instantly met with heady vibes from the municipal lot as the jokers and tokers greeted one another. There was a laid back feeling of familiarity and optimism as people of all ages lined up to check out the plethora of band merch and the gorgeous limited edition show poster designed by artist Dan Dippel. Fans who got there early enough were treated to a delicious appetizer from the young-and-hungry opening act, Fireside Collective from Asheville, NC.
After a brief set change, Capital Region show promoter Greg Bell of Guthrie Bell Productions took center stage to welcome everyone to the Cohoes Music Hall and wax nostalgic for a moment before introducing Kitchen Dwellers to a massive ovation. Wasting no time serving up the main course, the band set the tone early with a “Sundown” opener, the first of five songs that would be played from their latest album, Wise River. They had the crowd captivated from the very first note.

Consisting of Torrin Daniels on banjo, Joe Funk on bass, Max Davies on guitar, and Shawn Swain on mandolin, describing their inspired sound is no easy task. Utilizing traditional string instruments, adding a few effect pedals and foregoing a drummer, their expansive playing is full of character, bombastic banjo riffs, lightning fast licks, virtuosic finger picking and foot-stomping grooves. These guys make the complex look effortless. After squeezing “Their Names Are The Trees” into a “This Time” sandwich, the Kitchen Dwellers were cooking with pure gasoline as they alligatored “Smokestack” through a pair of choice covers – “Salt Creek” and “Alcohol in the Bloodstream.” Coming up for air to greet the audience and exchange some friendly banter about the proper pronunciation of Cohoes, the band would then invite Fireside Collective dobro player, Tommy Maher, to the stage for the remainder of the set.

Taking control of the ship and guiding the band through the crowd-pleasing title track of 2019’s Muir Maid, upright bassist Joe Funk’s vocals sounded fantastic here, while the extended interplay and energy of Torrin’s flying dreadlocks and Maher’s youthful exuberance sent the room into a fever pitch. With the venue itself located just on the outskirts of Levon Country, perhaps that was their intention all along, as a well-placed cover of The Band’s classic “Chest Fever” would bring the opening frame to a close.

When Kitchen Dwellers hit the stage for round 2, it didn’t take them long to address the elephant in the room, or in this case, the ghost. Nicknamed “The girl who made vaudeville famous,” many believe the spirit of Eva Tanguay has haunted the Cohoes Music Hall since her death in 1947. Often “felt” hanging around just off stage left and sometimes in the center of the balcony’s second row, the band acknowledged this bit of folklore by offering up their song “Ghost in a Bottle” in tribute.

The real meat and potatoes of the set would come next as the Dwellers found their groove on “Stand at Ease” which seamlessly segued into a cover of “White Freightliner Blues.” Showing a deep respect to their roots by weaving together a tapestry of their influences, the dexterity and speed at which these guys play make it almost impossible to stand still. After a stellar version of “Gypsy,” the band gave a special shoutout to a group of friends who traveled there from Vermont, allegedly breaking the record for the most people you can cram into a van, something which Torrin found debatable. Announcing they weren’t going to do the typical encore thing and that they’d just play until the venue kicked them out, the enthusiastic crowd were then treated to a sizzling combination of “Mountain” > “Drowning (… Again)” > “Ebenezer’s Winter” to bring the tasty night of galaxy-grass jams to a close just after midnight.
Putting a fresh spin on an old genre and blending the past with the future, Kitchen Dwellers rose to the occasion in Cohoes and threw down a performance that will be talked about for years to come. Upon leaving the Cohoes Music Hall, perhaps one excited fan summed it up best, saying “That was the best $20 I’ve spent in a very long time.“
With fall tour just getting underway, fans in New York won’t need to wait long to catch them again. Kitchen Dwellers have been tapped by Twiddle to take part in their final shows next month before going on an indefinite hiatus. Zach Bryan added new dates to his 2024 Quittin Time tour, including two shows on March 30 and 31 at UBS Arena.
The announcement comes a matter of weeks after Bryan surprised fans with the release of his Boys Of Faith EP, which has features from Bon Iver and Noah Kahan. That was preceded by his self-titled, self-written, and produced album which topped the Billboard 200 and Billboard’s Top Country, Rock & Alternative, Americana/Folk, and Rock Album charts. The most recent single from the album, “I Remember Everything (Feat. Kacey Musgraves),” also made history by topping the Billboard Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, Hot Rock Songs, and Hot Rock & Alternative Songs charts at once, being the first song ever to do so.

Recorded at Dragline Studios, the album was produced by Childers and his longtime band, The Food Stamps—James Barker (pedal steel), Craig Burletic (bass), CJ Cain (guitar), Rodney Elkins (drums), Chase Lewis (keyboards) and Jesse Wells (guitar, fiddle).
The new album follows last year’s triple album, Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven?, which featured eight songs presented in three distinct sonic perspectives—Hallelujah, Jubilee and Joyful Noise. Before Hounds, Childers released 2020’s Grammy-nominated surprise album, Long Violent History, which NPR Music called an “explicit and remarkable stand in solidarity.” His two previous releases, 2019’s #1 Country Squire as well 2017’s RIAA Platinum debut, Purgatory, were released to overwhelming critical and commercial acclaim. Tedeschi Trucks band made their debut with a ‘Garden Party’ at Madison Square Garden (MSG) on Friday, September 29, with the help of friends Trey Anastasio, Lukas Nelson and Norah Jones. There was some intense rain causing serious flooding around this day, but luckily the show went on.
The performance recalled Derek Trucks sitting in with Phish, just a month prior for the Vermont Flood benefit. And now it looked like New York City would be flooding, but only an outpouring of love and music rained down at MSG this evening.
Lukas Nelson and Promise Of The Real opened up the night with a rocking, bluesy set full of originals including a heartfelt “Georgia” and a thumping “Something Real” to close up their set.
When it was time for the main act, the first reaction was “Boy do they have a large band even without three special guests!” The full Tedeschi Trucks Band played a memorable show with their guests, one that was full of surprises which included “The Seeker” & “Layla” with Trey sitting in, Susan killing it on “Sugaree”, Norah and Susan on “Have a Little Faith in Me”, TTB bangers like “Midnight in Harlem” and “Made up Mind”.
The encore included “A Song For You” with Lukas Nelson and “Soul Sweet Song”. The band brought out the whole crew including Trey, Lukas, & Norah for two Sly and the Family Stone songs including “Sing a Simple Song” and “I Want to Take you Higher,” an incredible ending to a phenomenal night.

Country music icon Tim McGraw is extending his highly anticipated 2024 Standing Room Only Tour with the announcement of 11 new tour dates, including a stop at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo on May 4 and UBS Arena in Belmont Park on May 5.
The Standing Room Only Tour is set to kick off on March 14, 2024, and will cover over 40 cities across the United States and Canada. Joining Tim McGraw as a special guest on all tour dates is Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Carly Pearce.

Borderland Music & Art Festival brought some heavy hitting national and local bands to the historic Knox Farm State Park situated in the small village of East Aurora. Over three beautiful days – September 15, 16 & 17 – the historic grounds hosted many great bands on two stages that filled the air with sounds to sooth the soul from some amazingly talented artists.
Friday started as a wonderful partly cloudy morning with perfect temps. As festival goers started to flow in, setting up their chairs and blanks for the day, you could hear the first band. Folk/Americana jam-type band The Stove Pipes playing the Homespun stage which was situated off behind the horse stables at the top of the hill opposite the Mainstage. As the day progressed there was very minimal overlapping of each band’s sets. Making it an easy walk between both stages through or around the horse stables to see each band play throughout the day.
On the Homespun stage you could catch other local and reginal acts like, Dirty Blanket, Not Fade Away Band (Playing Dead Zepplin) & Farrow. The Mainstage acts included local, regional, and national touring acts like Leroy Townes Band, The 502s, Dawes & Goose. Goose being the closing act of night one, brought the house down with their amazing set of music. An absolute not to be missed band of abundantly talented musicians. Setlist via Elgoose.net.

Saturday at Borderland was met with beautifully clear skies and temperatures out on the farm. Saturday’s crowd filled in the ground of Knox Farm State Park much earlier being a Saturday. Again with very little overlapping of each band’s sets, it was quite easy to catch most of each act playing both the Homespun and Mainstage. Starting out the day on the Mainstage with a great improvisational set was The Damone Jackson Outcome, a band known for their high energy improv sets.
First up on the Homespun stage was A Girl Named Genny, a folk/Americana band with a little bit of Rock and Roll. Other Homespun stage acts included local and reginal bands, Never Ben, Public Water Supply, Grosh and Organ Fairchild. Other Mainstage acts included local, reginal and national acts like, Miller & The Other Sinners, Mighty Poplar, Neal Francis and Sammy Rae & The Friends. Trey Anastasio Band closed out night two with a stellar set of mostly Phish tunes to send everyone home only wanting more. And what an exceptional set of music it was, made even better with an almost Phish/Kuroda level light show. Setlist via Phish.net

Sunday, was the closing day to the perfect three-day Borderland Music & Arts festival and the weather could not have been better for mid-September. Starting out the day on the Homespun stage was The Red Grenadines, followed by Folkfaces, and NYS Dead Coalition. During Folkfaces and in between The Red Grenadine & NYS Dead Coalition was the Tailgate & Buffalo Bills Watch Party with many in attendance. Starting the day on the Mainstage was Karina Rykman, followed by, Krasno/Moore Project, The Infamous Stringdusters, and to close out the night, and festival, with two sets, our hometown heroes, moe.
