The single marries his penchant for the simple and driving melodies of folk music with the complexities of synth-80\/90\u2019s pop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>When I was creating this song all I could think about were sold geometric shapes from the 80\u2019s and 90\u2019s and cutting acoustic guitar rhythms and how they balanced each other.<\/p><cite>Ryan Leddick<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leddick calls his single a fusion of folk and synth pop but upon listening to it you might find that his booming voice and imposing percussion sound more like a rock ballad. Or we discovered that rock music is actually what you get when you combine folk and synth pop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dev.nysmusic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Ryan-Leddick-1-768x768.jpg\" alt=\"Ryan Leddick\" class=\"wp-image-414059\"\/><figcaption>Photo: Mike De Socio \/\/Design: Courtney Mann<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This expansion of Leddick\u2019s sound came after her reconnected with his guitar during the pandemic. The synth sequences were in an effort to recreate what he called the \u201cgeometric shapes\u201d of 80s and 90s pop music. \u201cThis mixture of acoustic guitar, electric drums, and synths always seemed to paint a geometric landscape in my mind,\u201d Leddick explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It might just be modesty on Leddick\u2019s part but the most notable part of \u201cState of Mind\u201d is Leddick\u2019s careening voice which when it first surges onto the track appears Adele-esque in its depth and control. His voice often quavers as if he\u2019s getting choked up sharing something personal with us, giving his music an emotional introspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The hook repeats the lyrics \u201cthis is my state of my mind\u201d. It might be slightly heavy-handed, but you certainly can\u2019t say Leddick didn\u2019t put his heart into it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ryan Leddick &quot;State Of Mind&quot; Live at The Linda WAMC&#039;s Performing Arts Studio\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0MvdAuj92Js?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cState of Mind\u201d marks his second collaboration with producer and musician Carl Blackwood of the band <a href=\"https:\/\/nysmusic.com\/site\/2020\/08\/07\/walking-in-bendt-world-rock-music-beyond-the-surface\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bendt <\/a>and Mastering Engineer Carl Staff.
