  • American Authors Announce “The Best Night Of My Life” Tour, Stop at Racket in Chelsea

Alternative rock band American Authors will be back on the road for the new year. The band has just announced a full US headline tour this winter, titled the “Best Night Of My Life Tour” featuring Billy Raffoul.  The month-long tour kicks off on February 10th in Fairfield, then makes a stop in New York City February 12th at the new venue in Chelsea, Racket.

Frontman Zac Barnett shares about the tour: “It’s been so long since we’ve done a proper tour, we’re pulling out all the stops on this one! Playing all your favorite American Authors songs from the past, new jams from our upcoming album, & who knows, maybe even some requests & cover songs. Oh ya, & there might be some special collaborations with our good friend Billy Rafoul who will be opening the shows every night too.”

Since releasing their debut album Oh, What a Life in 2014, pop-rock outfit American Authors have experienced milestones most bands only dream about. Their anthemic hit single “Best Day of My Life” has been featured in over 600 movie trailers, TV shows, commercials, and as a theme song for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Despite this, lead singer Zac Barnett states, “We just want to keep going. We can’t wait to continue this adventure.”

Earlier this year, the American Authors pushed their limits with six different versions of their new single “Blind For Love.” They even recently released a brand new music video for this track. They’ve also been getting into the holiday spirit with the festive “Christmas Karaoke” and “Sleigh Ride.”

Fans can look forward to more new music soon, as the band gears up to release a new album in early 2023.

  • State Champs Release Acoustic Singles “Act Like That” and “Outta My Head”

Local to Albany, State Champs have released their newest acoustic single “Act Like That,” an energetic, bouncing track, and “Outta My Head,” with its stripped back guitar licks, both bringing vocal harmonies and breathing new life into the songs. Earlier this year, State Champs planted their flag firmly in pop-punk history with their 4th studio album, Kings Of The New Age, out now via Pure Noise Records

State Champs Act Like That Outta My Head

Kings Of The New Age includes hit singles “Eventually”, “Everybody But You” (ft. Ben Barlow), “Outta My Head”, and “Just Sound.” Alongside this, seven new tracks featuring additional guest vocalists Chrissy Costanza, Mitchell Tenpenny, and Four Year Strong.

“If any band were to be crowned royalty amongst the current generation of pop-punk acts, we have little doubt the honor would go to New York’s State Champs.”

    – Beyond The Stage Magazine

Starting in bedrooms and basements in 2010, State Champs quickly ascended in the pop punk scene owing as much to early Fall Out Boy and Green Day as latter-day Warped Tour bands. In 2022, Kerrang! declared them “one of the most authentic and well-respected bands in pop-punk. Derek DiScanio, Tyler Szalkowski, Ryan Scott Graham, and Evan Ambrosio deliver a strong message throughout Kings Of The New Age.

State Champs delivered their music and heartfelt message on extensive tours with bands like Fall Out Boy, 5 Seconds Of Summer, A Day To Remember, and Simple Plan; three different Warped Tours; and a co-headliner with Neck Deep.

“With their pop-punk flag firmly planted, State Champs may have just provided us with the soundtrack to help remind us of the carefree days and the endless possibilities of a summer that could change our lives for the better.”

    – Chorus.fm

On the highly anticipated release, the band shares, “Kings of The New Age is our fourth album, the one that we spent the most time on, and the one that makes the biggest statement. After writing over 30 songs, we narrowed it down to 11 that best represent our mission as a band, and sonically, match the energy level we wanted to captivate heading into this new chapter.”

    State Champs Act Like That

“We had a short press week back in June where we did some in studio acoustic sessions,” explains guitarist Tyler Szalkowski. “We fell in love with the acoustic versions of Act Like That and Outta My Head. We knew we had to get these recorded and get them out to you all. Enjoy and see you all very soon on the Kings of the New Age tour.”

“[Kings Of The New Age] is full of engaging, high-velocity pop punk songs that are great for summertime listening.”

  • Hudson Valley Artist Denitia Announces Upcoming Single and NY Shows

Singer-songwriter Denitia is set to release her imaginative new single, “Old Friend,” on August 12 and has announced four upcoming NY-area shows.

Originally from the Houston area, self-taught Denitia explored all types of music as a teenager, including rock, alt-grunge, traditional roots, and more. Growing up performing at praise and worship services shaped her confidence, and the artist recently transitioned from a pop/R&B sound to more of the folk and country realm.

Much of Denitia’s latest work centers around feelings of isolation during the time of the pandemic. That period gave her the space and ability to work on her storytelling. Denitia focused on the feelings of nostalgia and a need for human connection over this time, themes that largely inspire her heartfelt music.

“Old Friend” came out of this pandemic experience, where Denitia wonders about the realities of connecting with an old friend, singing, “Forgive me if I’m doing that thing, Where folks romance all that was / But my memory was dark and it cleared, and you were standing here.” The single is delicate and beautiful in its guitar instrumentation, with Denitia’s ethereal voice capturing the message perfectly.

When the track goes live on Aug. 12, listeners looking for something to sway with and pour over should be sure to play it on repeat. Fans can also expect more music and single releases from Denitia before her album, Highways, is expected on October 14.

Catch Denitia at shows this year as she joins The Black Opry Revue Tour this fall alongside some other amazing talents of the Black country music scene. The tour will play three shows in NY and Denitia will have a solo performance at Levon Helm Studios on Aug 26. For the full list of dates, see below.

  • Charlie Burg Releases “Ohh! Sumthin’ New” Ahead of Debut Album

On Friday, July 29, indie and alternative R&B artist Charlie Burg released his newest single, “Ohh! Sumthin’ New” from his upcoming debut album, Infinitely Tall, out on August 19.

The artist was born in Detroit, Michigan but previously studied at Syracuse University’s Setnor School of Music, and is now based out of Brooklyn. His upcoming album, Infinitely Tall, takes place across three spaces: Burg’s childhood home in Detroit, his beloved college house in Syracuse, and finally his experiences in NYC.

In the single, “Ohh! Sumthin’ New,” Burg explores the story of a character yearning for fresh and authentic experiences. With upbeat instrumentation and lyrics which critically examine the world around him, the track entices while simultaneously offering deeper meaning.

Of the track, Burg shares that it “celebrates and laments the rootlessness of youth … the world of social media makes the protagonist feel like a poser and a fraud, mostly because of how much they subscribe to and partake in its evils. The protagonist desperately wants a change of pace, which is ironic in the face of their desire for solid ground to stand on.”

Painting: Charlie Burg / Editing: Corinne Ferman

With soft vocals and acoustic guitar suddenly transformed by the sounds of electric guitar,”Ohh! Sumthin’ New” takes listeners through a whirlwind. Burg incorporates unexpected backing vocals, sounds, and lyrics to keep you guessing and embodies the phrase “a change of pace.”

Burg’s previous releases, including “Channel Orange in Your Living Room” and “I Don’t Wanna Be Okay Without You,” garnered him much attention, but his upcoming release marks a new shift in sound and ambition for the artist. The young 25-year-old expands on his previous works and leaves nothing behind in this new record.

Burg will hit the road this fall across the EU, UK, and North America in support of the upcoming release from September through November. Get tickets now via charlieburg.world. To see the complete list of U.S. tour dates, see below.
