  • Rock and Roll Playhouse Announces Halloween Concert Run, Several NY Dates

    The Rock and Roll Playhouse, a family concert series, has announced a nationwide run of shows for Halloween weekend, with four happening in NY.

    Running from Saturday, October 29 to Sunday, October 30, the classic rock-themed series will feature 18 shows cross country.

    As for NY’s concerts, day one will include a Tom Petty tribute show at Garcia’s at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, and a “New Orleans Funk & Soul” themed Halloween party at Brooklyn’s Industry City featuring Black Tie Brass. The doors of Garcia’s will open at 1:30 p.m. before music begins at 2, while Industry City’s show will run from 1 to 2.

    On day two for the Playhouse, Brooklyn Bowl will open its doors for a “Halloween Spectacular” show at 11 a.m. before music starts at noon, and City Winery Hudson Valley in Montgomery will open its doors for its own Halloween-themed concert at 10:30 a.m. before music also starts at noon.

    The Rock and Roll Playhouse was founded in 2013 at the Brooklyn Bowl by Amy Striem, a NJ-based youth educator, and Peter Shapiro, co-owner of the Brooklyn Bowl and owner of the Capitol Theatre. Since its beginning, the program has held performances in over 42 venues across 30 cities for its core audience of children under 10.

  • The Rock and Roll Playhouse Father’s Day and Juneteenth Celebration

    The classic family concert series where kids and parents can rock out to the classics, The Rock and Roll Playhouse celebrates a special run of shows in celebration of fathers. This concert takes place June 18 and 19 on Father’s Day and Juneteenth Weekend, hosting 19 concerts nationwide of the music of Bob Marley for Kids. This will be the playhouse’s biggest show return since the pandemic. 

    The Rock and Roll Playhouse’s goal is to introduce the next generation to timeless classics while providing kids with early music exposure and encouraging creativities. The Playhouse was founded in 2013 at its flagship venue Brooklyn Bowl by Peter Shapiro, entrepreneur and co-owner of the Bowl and owner of The Capitol Theatre, and Amy Striem, a certified Early Childhood and Elementary teacher.

    The Playhouse was designed to create an experience live music to bring families together, along with an experience in historic venues. This project continues to unite families through music with hundreds of unforgettable shows nationwide. A portion of the weekend’s sales will be donated to the Preservation Hall Foundation.  

    The Rock and Roll Playhouse has established itself as the premier family-friendly national concert series and we are thrilled to welcome them to The Troubadour for their LA debut. Their incredible band will introduce the next generation to Bob Marley, spreading his messages of love, peace, freedom and unity, as we celebrate both Juneteenth and Father’s Day

  • The Rock and Roll Playhouse Announces Earth Day Activities With Grateful Dead For Kids

    The Rock and Roll Playhouse has announced that a national Earth Day weekend celebration on April 23 and 24 is coming to Port Chester, NY. The Playhouse is a family concert series where kids rock out to the classics, and this concert series will feature music by the Grateful Dead for Kids.

    Stephen Grybowski, Senior Director of the Playhouse, said they are excited to bring families together for this event.

    We’re excited to bring families together across the country to celebrate Earth Day Weekend. The Grateful Dead were not only a phenomenal band with classic songs, but they were environmentally aware—that’s a connection that makes these shows an even more special celebration for families as we inspire the next generation of young rockers.

    It provides kids with early music exposure and promotes creativity. It is introducing the new generation to music by artists including The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Phish, David Bowie, Prince, Aretha Franklin, Dave Matthews Band, and more. It was founded in 2013 at the Brooklyn Bowl by Peter Shapiro, co-owner of the Bowl and owner of The Capitol Theatre, and Amy Striem, a certified Early Childhood, and Elementary teacher.

    Proceeds from the shows will go to the Grateful Dead’s official non-profit Rex Foundation, which supports charitable organizations working to protect the Earth. Tickets are on sale now.
