Wu-Tang Clan and Nas Bring ‘NY State of Mind’ Tour To Prudential Center on Sept. 13
Hip Hop Legends Wu-Tang Clan and Nas have released the dates for their upcoming 25 city summer tour. Beginning in August, the five-week trek will see Nas and the Clan make their way to the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ on Tuesday, September 13.
Wu-Tang Clan are recognized as one of the greatest hip hop groups of all time since their breakout debut, 36 Chambers, in 1993. They have set numerous trends and have had a significant impact on the rap game and have provided us with some of the rap game’s greatest personalities.
Despite having nine distinct characters, the group seamlessly merges under the musical guidance of RZA. While all skilled rappers, his vision for the group both sonically and stylistically has created an everlasting movement. The group became famous for sampling martial arts films, RZA kept a heavy Motown and oldies influence throughout the Clan’s music, and sampling the likes of Syl Johnson, Aretha Franklin, among others.
Unlike many groups that have phased out of the limelight, the Clan remain relevant, regardless of time. While the group has always taken regular breaks, they have still managed to churn out three platinum albums and more than 85 full-length releases. They were also one of the first acts to diversify their brand, with Wu Wear becoming a popular hip hop brand.
Never the slouch, Nas had his big break after the release of his 1992 song “Halftime“, from the Zebrahead movie soundtrack. He released his classic debut, Illamatic, in 1994 with Colombia Records. With gritty and thought provoking rhymes alike, Nas is certified as one of the best rappers of all-time.
After winning his first Grammy-award for his 2020 album, King’s Disease, Nas was again nominated for “King’s Disease II,” a testament to his longevity.
With the substantial amount of influence both parties have had over decades within the hip hop community and worldwide, the tour is sure to be highly successful.

Basilica Hudson Announces 2022 Season
Multidisciplinary arts center Basilica Hudson has announced their 2022 season, and this season is loaded with tons of film, music, art, environmental, and community programs.
For those unfamiliar, Basilica Hudson is an arts and performance venue built inside an old factory in the city of Hudson, NY. The factory produced railroad car wheels in the 1880s and was later converted into a glue factory. It closed in the 1980s but was rebought to be used as a cultural arts center. It lies alongside the east of the Hudson River and has been serving its community as an epicenter for cultural arts for over twenty years now.
Since then, the venue has been renovated and is now solar-powered. An extension of Basilica Hudson, BASILICA GREEN, works hard to develop public programs, push for green initiatives, and promote environmental stewardship in the Hudson Valley community. Notably, on April 24th, BASILICA GREEN will host an Earth Day event on their campus. Here, there will be tons of educational opportunities as well as live music and advocacy letter-writing campaign opportunities.
Basilica Gallery will open on May 5th. This will be a weekly series, dubbed Jupiter Nights, and will be an opportunity for local creatives to showcase their music, poetry, or other art. Those interested in performing or displaying their work in the gallery should contact info@basilicahudson.org.

Wiz Khalifa and Logic Announce ‘Vinyl Verse’ Tour 2022, Barclay’s Center, SPAC and Darien Lake stops included
Wiz Khalifa and Logic have just announced their co-headline Vinyl Verse Tour featuring special guests. In fact, the 28-city tour will make a stops throughout New York at the Brooklyn Barclay’s Center on August 16, and at Saratoga Springs’ Saratoga Performing Arts Center on August 23. Truly, you won’t regret adding the dynamic experiences of Wiz Khalifa and Logic to your summer 2022 agenda.
The two infamous rappers have joined forces with Live Nation for their upcoming Vinyl Verse Tour. Featuring special guests DJ Drama, C Dot Castro, and Fedd the God, the 28-city trek kicks off July 27 at the FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine, California, making stops in Houston, Atlanta, and Brooklyn, before wrapping up in St.Louis.
Multi-platinum selling, Grammy and Golden Globe nominated recording artist Wiz Khalifa rose to fame with the success of his first major label debut album, Rolling Papers in 2011.
Rolling Papers holds infamous hits such as “Black and Yellow” and more. These successful songs gave Wiz the platform to win the “Best New Artist” and “Top New Artist” music awards. Later on, Wiz’s track “See You Again,” off the FURIOUS 7 soundtrack catapulted to the top of the charts across 95 countries. Throughout his career, Khalifa has inspired various elements of pop culture from music integration and content creation to MMA lifestyle apparel.
Also known as Sir Robert Bryson Hall II or Bobby Hall, Logic has made a name for himself as one of the most prolific and prevalent artists of the past decade since his emergence in 2010. Ariel Arbisser Wants to See Red In New Single ‘Bloodshed’
Ithaca-based singer Ariel Arbisser embraces the darkness within with her new single ‘Bloodshed’. This is her first release since her 2021 album, Risk of Love.
The powerful songstress uses the new single as a vehicle to express her personal struggles. We’ve all had moments where we struggle not to become whatever we’re fighting against, whether those issues stem from trauma, frustration or injustice, but while listening to ‘Bloodshed’, listeners can take a moment to stop fighting and give in, if only for a few minutes.

Ariel ArbisserThe multi-talented singer has delved into many sections of the art world including musicals like “Rent”, “Little Women” and “Candide”, as well as plays like “Museum” and “The Maid”. Arbisser also wrote, produced and starred in the original web series “Sex, Drugs, A Cappella”.
In addition to starring in theater productions, Arbisser has also traveled around the US teaching her “Sing It Like You Mean It” module, along with other workshops. The module employs tools from the Meisner Technique to help singers become more comfortable and connected during their performances.
PC : Drew Bordeaux Since 2018, Arbisser has been working on her personal music while helping those around the country learn new performance techniques and ideologies. In 2021, she returned to Ithaca to finalize and release her debut album, Risk of Love, after previously singing with groups like The Funx and Frisky Business.

Adequate Phil Drops Psychedelic New Single
Adequate Phil doesn’t tether themselves to one genre, and their newest single, “Can’t Not,” showcases this. In it, elements of psychedelia, hip-hop, and folk infuse to make one cerebral concoction. This single is the third of many to come from the new “folk-freak” group coming out of Troy, which falls just north of Albany and lies alongside the Hudson River.
The band consists of three members. Sean McLaughlin provides vocals throughout the track. Moreover, Phil McGrath plays the guitar. Notably, Runey Ghosh provides beautiful bass instrumentation on this project. It is thick, it is beautiful, and it is funky. His instrumental abilities add an essential layer of personality to this song.
Their previous release, “Baby Leeches/Vessel” was previously covered by EQXposure on WEQX, an independent radio station in the Capital Region of New York.

Syracuse’s Carrier Dome to Change Name
Syracuse University’s Carrier Dome will finally change its name after 43 years. The venue’s naming rights will go to JMA Wireless, a local technology company.

The famed Central New York stadium got its name after Carrier Global Corporation made a $2.75 million donation in 1979, the year before it opened, in exchange for naming rights in perpetuity. The University and Carrier decided to end their partnership this month, nearly two decades since Carrier closed to production plants in Syracuse after laying off more than 1,200 workers in 2003.
In addition to numerous sporting events, the Carrier Dome has also hosted many well know musicians and concerts. Some of the most notable acts that performed there include Prince in 1985, Billy Joel in 2015, and Paul McCartney in 2017. The former Beatles front man is scheduled to perform at the Carrier Dome again on June 4 of this year.
Prince’s performance at the Carrier Dome, from March 30, 1985, was live streamed on the deceased icon’s YouTube channel in May of 2020. The footage was made available as part of Prince’s estate’s efforts to release previously unseen videos contained in his Paisley Park archives. The Syracuse show then became a live album with sales from the album donated to the World Health Organization.
Paul McCartney will be making his second stop at the Carrier Dome this June. Prior to the concert scheduled for this summer he had performed at the Carrier Dome in September of 2017. The two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee had also been slated to play the venue in 1993 before cancelling his show.
Despite the impending name change, it’s too early to tell if this will affect future bookings. The name change has not yet been officially announced by either Syracuse University or Carrier. There is still no confirmation of the venue’s new name.

‘It’s A Little Bit Magic’: Indie Rock Band Big Thief At Kings Theatre
Brooklyn-based indie rock band Big Thief played an intimate performance to a sold out Kings Theatre on Friday night. This was the first night of two-night residency for the band which has been touring in support of their new double album, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You, since late-January.

Photo by Lindsay Brown Canadian composer and musician, Kara-Lis Coverdale (K-LC), opened the night with a moody electronic set. K-LC will be on tour with Big Thief for the month of April while they make their way out west for a number of shows going through June.
Big Thief started their set with title track “Change” off of Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You, playing a mix of songs new and old throughout the evening including “Not” and “Certainty”. Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You is the indie rock band’s fifth studio album which was released February 11, 2022, featuring 20 tracks. In addition to celebrating the recent release of Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You on tour, guitarist and vocalist Adrianne Lenker announced that drummer and producer James Krivchenia dropped his second solo album Blood Karaoke this past week.

The indie rock band took several opportunities to address the crowd during the show, thanking everyone for their support and singing along. One of the most notable moments was guitarist and backing vocalist, Buck Meek, reminiscing about his days spent busking in New York City parks with Lenker a number of years ago to a now sold out King Theatre which seats over 3,000 people.
Another highlight of the evening was Lenker inviting her little brother, Noah, on stage for their last song, “Spud Infinity” where he lends his talents with a jaw harp to add a bit of twang to the track. Meek commented after the song, “I wish we could keep playing all night, but we’re actually out of time so goodnight!”

Proctors Collaborative Announces Capital Repertory Theatre’s 2022-2023 Season
Proctors Collaborative has announced the next shows coming to Capital Repertory Theatre in Albany. The annual Proctors Collaborative announcement was recently held on the the Capital Repertory Theatre Facebook page.
Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors
The 2022-2023 season at theREP starts with Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors, co-written by Gordon Greenberg, scheduled for late September and running until October of 2022. Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors is a lightning fast, laugh-out-loud 90-minute magical romp. Famed female vampire hunter Jean Van Helsing and her motley company chase Count Dracula from the English Countryside to Transylvania.

The Rock and Roll Playhouse Announces Earth Day Activities With Grateful Dead For Kids
The Rock and Roll Playhouse has announced that a national Earth Day weekend celebration on April 23 and 24 is coming to Port Chester, NY. The Playhouse is a family concert series where kids rock out to the classics, and this concert series will feature music by the Grateful Dead for Kids.

We’re excited to bring families together across the country to celebrate Earth Day Weekend. The Grateful Dead were not only a phenomenal band with classic songs, but they were environmentally aware—that’s a connection that makes these shows an even more special celebration for families as we inspire the next generation of young rockers.
It provides kids with early music exposure and promotes creativity. It is introducing the new generation to music by artists including The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Phish, David Bowie, Prince, Aretha Franklin, Dave Matthews Band, and more. It was founded in 2013 at the Brooklyn Bowl by Peter Shapiro, co-owner of the Bowl and owner of The Capitol Theatre, and Amy Striem, a certified Early Childhood, and Elementary teacher.
Proceeds from the shows will go to the Grateful Dead’s official non-profit Rex Foundation, which supports charitable organizations working to protect the Earth. Tickets are on sale now.
