Darien Lake Amphitheater 2022 Summer Lineup And Schedule

Darien Lake Amphitheater has announced its 2022 summer performances including various shows and tours. Located in the Western New York town of Darien, the venu was opened in 1993 as a replacement for Lakeside Amphitheater, the venue has a capacity of 21,600, with 6,410 seats under pavilion.

Ellen Pieroni & the Encyclopedia of Soul to Debut at Jack Rabbit in Buffalo on May 27

Buffalo musician Ellen Pieroni has a new original project that will makes its debut at Jack Rabbit on Friday, May 27th.

Ellen Pieroni & the Encyclopedia of Soul – or EoS – presents a refreshing brand of smooth-infused soul jazz. While the group is inspired by artists such as Grover Washington, Stuff, Freddie Hubbard, and the Crusaders, EoS places an emphasis on new, original music.

EoS was founded by Pieroni (saxophone, compositions), James Benders (bass), and Adam Bronstein (guitar) earlier this year over a mutual love of the band Stuff.

I was a bandleader in my first band, Ellen Pieroni Quartet. For almost a decade, I bounced around town as a side woman in a multitude of projects. In many ways, EoS is a culmination of all of these experiences I’ve had playing various genres locally – trad jazz, bluegrass, afrobeat, jam, r&b. It took me that long to realize I wanted to be a bandleader again. I think the Encyclopedia of Soul is the band I’ve wanted to have all along.

In April, EoS played a session at The Beat Barn – a studio and creative space in Orchard Park owned by Buffalo-based drummer Joe Goretti. The founding trio was joined by Steve Davis (keys) and local legend Darryl Washington (drums). The band recorded a few tracks and a video that will be dropping soon.

EoS has since been playing with a new configuration, which include Tyler James (keys) and Isaiah Gethers (drums), with a live rehearsal at The Gypsy Parlor on Grant Street in May and another on May 24.

The Encyclopedia of Soul is a massive passion project for Ellen Pieroni, formerly of Folkfaces, Intrepid Travelers, Buffalo Afrobeat Orchestra, Blue Stone Groove, and more.

Catch Ellen Pieroni & the Encyclopedia of Soul’s debut show at Jack Rabbit on Friday, May 27th at 10pm. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Inaugural Elmwood Summerfest to be held in the heart of Buffalo

Despite recent troubling times, the city of Buffalo has continued to band together and are now working towards showcasing the best of their city. The Beer Keep, Jack Rabbit, and Breezy Burrito Bar have announced the inaugural Elmwood Summerfest, to be held on Sunday, June 26, 2022. The festival is meant to celebrate summertime in Buffalo including beer, food, community, togetherness and, of course, music.

Elmwood Summerfest will showcase over 15 bands and performers on a large outdoor stage located between 1000 & 1010 Elmwood Avenue. Besides musical performances, Buffalo Eats will host its first annual Hot Dog Eating Competition, followed by a Live Art installation, and a Genesee Brewing beer tent featuring your favorite beers, ciders and seltzers. The music lineup will spotlight acts from Buffalo as well as the Rochester area. It will feature bands like Sideways, Witty Tarbox, Farrow, Grosh, American Nosebleed, Folkfaces, Well Worn Boot, Johnny Hart and the Mess, Kevin Sampson and the Night Shift, plus more.

For a next-level festival experience, The Beer Keep, Jack Rabbit and Breezy Burrito Bar will be opening their doors exclusively to VIP pass-holders. At all three locations, VIP pass holders will be able to enjoy air conditioning, private bathrooms, fully stocked bars, patio access and lounging areas.

Why Elmwood Summerfest is Happening

Recently, the Bidwell Park area of Buffalo’s Elmwood Village has been rejuvenated and seen a rebirth as an entertainment and hospitality destination.

“The Bay Strikes Back Tour” with Testament, Exodus and Death Angel play to sold out Town Ballroom

On Friday May 6th 2022, Testament brought their “The Bay Strikes Back Tour” to Town Ballroom in Buffalo. The tour features Death Angel and Exodus as support for Testament. This show was originally scheduled for a different date last year but had to be rescheduled because of Covid-19. Testament has not played New York in many years, but that has now changed.

Death Angel is an American thrash metal band from Daly City, California, initially active from 1982 to 1991 and again since 2001. Death Angel has released nine studio albums, two demo tapes, one box set and three live albums. The band has gone through several line-up changes, leaving guitarist Rob Cavestany as the only constant member; he and vocalist Mark Osegueda (who joined the group in 1984) are the only members of Death Angel to appear on all of their studio albums.

Death Angel is often referred to as one of the key bands in the Bay Area thrash metal movement of the 1980s, and secured opening slots at club venues in that decade, including opening for their peers Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, Exodus, Testament and Overkill.

Exodus

Exodus is an American thrash metal band formed in 1979 in Richmond, California. Their current lineup consists of guitarists Gary Holt and Lee Altus, bassist Jack Gibson, drummer Tom Hunting, and lead vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza. There are no original members left in Exodus other than Hunting, who has departed from the band twice, in 1989 and 2004, but rejoined in 2007. Exodus is also notable for its inclusion of guitarist Kirk Hammett in its initial lineup; he eventually left the band in 1983 to join Metallica as Dave Mustaine’s replacement.

Testament

Testament is an American thrash metal band from Berkeley, California. Formed in 1983 under the name Legacy, the band’s current lineup comprises rhythm guitarist Eric Peterson, lead vocalist Chuck Billy, lead guitarist Alex Skolnick, bassist Steve Di Giorgio and drummer Dave Lombardo (formerly in Slayer).

Testament has experienced many lineup changes over the years, with Peterson being the only remaining original member, though they have since been rejoined by one of its songwriters Skolnick, who was out of the band from 1992 to 2005. Billy has been a member of Testament since 1986, when he replaced original singer Steve “Zetro” Souza, who had joined Exodus as the replacement of Paul Baloff. He and Peterson are the only members to appear on all of Testament’s studio albums, with the latter being the only constant member overall.

Testament’s fan base is mostly older fans, but the younger generation was peppered in the crowd for The Bay Strikes Back Tour. Their set featured 14 songs for the sold-out crowd. Playing such hits as “Children of the Next Level”, “Eyes of Wrath” and “Disciples of the Watch”. Their stage show used co2 air blasts, and arena LED stage lighting with strobes that was changing colors often.

Drummer Dave Lombardo sat atop his high rise drum platform hidden from camera and the crowd but with his playing technique he sits really low on his drum throne so it is hard to get a glimpse of him. There were many mosh pits happening and crowd surfing all night. The fans really enjoyed the show because they needed a way to release their stress from the current world situation happening. Parking was cheap, drinks were cold and cheap, and fun was had by everyone the whole night.

moe. announce 2022 Summer Tour Dates with Nate Wilson and Suke Cerulo in place of Chuck Garvey

moe. has announced they will play a handful of tour dates for this summer, joined by Suke Cerulo on guitar and Nate Wilson on keys for a majority of the shows.

The shows were announced as “for the remainder of the year” meaning moe.rons will only have 8 chances to catch moe., following shows at Summer Camp Music Festival in May, and Norfolk Harborfest and City Bisco in June.

A free show on July 6 in Albany will take place at the Empire State Plaza, with a performance at Levitate in Marshfield, MA the next day, followed by Great South Bay Music Festival in Patchogue. They’ll then return to New York for two shows over Labor Day weekend in Lake George.

Sitting out the run is moe. guitarist Chuck Garvey as he continues to recover from a stroke. Chuck is making progress but will need some more time to get back to the stage with his bandmates. moe. hopes you’ll join them for a celebration of life, music and the fa.moe.ly they have built over the past 30 years. Buffalo band eberwine Release New Single “Worlds Away”

The Buffalo-based rock/blues/jam fusion group eberwine released a new single “Worlds Away.” The single is their first from the upcoming debut studio album One Vision.

“Worlds Away” is a 7-minute tune that showcases the band’s rock medley sound. “It’s about understanding the nature of reality,” noted lead guitarist and front Todd Eberewine, “The knowledge that we’re here now and that we’re not guaranteed anything beyond this moment.”

Eberwine originally started as a solo act in 2016. The band is known for his soulful lyrics and high energy shows. When he started performing live in 2019, Eberwine looked to secure a permanent lineup to accompany him on the road.

In its current live performances Eberwine (guitar, vocals) by Donny Frauenhofer on keys (Intrepid Travelers), Aaron Ziolkowski on guitar (Little Mountain Band), Jay Race on drums (Dead Alliance Buffalo), and Paul Zabrycki on bass(Dead Buffalo Alliance). The released single, which was recorded in the Strand Theatre, features Ryan Nogle (drums), Keith Lindner (bass), Eric Crittenden (keys), and Aaron Ziolkowski (backing vocals).

Music is Art Present The 716 Music Expo at Babeville on April 23

Music is Art, based in Buffalo, will host it’s newest event, The 716 Music Expo, at Babeville on Saturday, April 23.

Music is Art is an organization dedicated to creating opportunities that fuel the unifying power of music in Western New York. The 501c3 organization was founded in 2003 by Goo Goo Dolls bassist and Buffalo resident Robby Takac.

Taking over Babeville on Saturday, April 23, the 716 Music Expo is for WNY musicians and music lovers alike. The day-long event features a trade show with music industry vendors, eight workshops presented in conjunction with Buffalo Music Club, and an evening performance featuring some of Buffalo’s best soul, R&B, and hip hop artists.

The trade show will run from 1pm-5pm and feature venues, recording studios, merchandise providers, college music programs, production companies and more. Workshops will run from 2pm-6pm with two amazing options at the top of each hour. The evening performance will feature Kenyada Nikile, Farrow, and Buffalo hip hop artists Rick Hyde, Heem, and LoveBoat Luciano – collectively known as Black Soprano Family (BSF).

For this, our inaugural event, we hope to mirror what goes on in the big music cities and offer something for every local musician, at every level. If you play music in WNY, you need to be here.

Five Finger Death Punch Tour Coming to Jones Beach, Syracuse, Darien Lake

Hard rock band Five Finger Death Punch released new single “AfterLife” and announced a summer and fall tour with stops in Jones Beach, Syracuse, and Darien Center.

“Afterlife” is the first single and title track from Five Finger Death Punch’s upcoming studio album.

On their tour Five Finger Death Punch will be joined by hard rock/metal legends Megadeth, Mongolian sensation The HU, and newcomers Fire From The Gods. The tour begins in Portland on Aug. 19. It will stop in New York on Sept. 12 at the Jones Beach Theater, Spet 20. St Joseph’s Health Amphitheater at Lakeview, and on Sept. 27 at the Darien Lake Amphitheater.

Five Finger Death Punch will also appear in the “The Retaliators” a horror movie set to be released this fall. The gave both an on screen performance and contributed to the movie’s soundtrack. Currently, the movie has a rare and notable 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Tickets will go on sale April 15 at 10 a.m.

In Focus: Twiddle and Andy Frasco & the U.N. at Town Ballroom in Buffalo

Twiddle and Andy Frasco and the U.N. came to The Town Ballroom in Buffalo on April 7. You can tell both bands on tour are having a ton of fun because all three sets featured various members and friends sitting in, giving a vibe that you were seeing a collective of friends and musicians versus two seperate bands doing their thing.

The show started with a set by Mihali and a few friends which was a mellow open to get the night started. Andy Frasco & The U.N. was next. Half show and half house party on stage, Andy Frasco and his band ramped up the energy, whether swigging from a bottle of Jim Beam, jumping on the piano or pulling various friends and musicians onstage, Andy Frasco is all about having a good time onstage and the Buffalo crowd ate it up.

Twiddle rode the energy from Andy Frasco and the U.N. and kept the crowd dancing all night. An encore of Baba O’Riley brought all of the musicians throughout the night back together onstage for a finale that left the crowd walking out with smiles.

Trinity of Terror Tour sells out Buffalo Riverworks

On Monday April 11th 2022, The Trinity of Terror Tour made a stop in Buffalo at RiverWorks. This is a triple headlining tour featuring Ice Nine Kills, Black Veil Brides and Motionless in White. The Buffalo show was a sell out with 5,000 people singing along to every song. Buffalo RiverWorks is the city’s newest premier waterfront, boating, sports, music, dining and entertainment destination located along the banks of the Buffalo River.

There are three guarantees in life; death, taxes and waiting in long lines at a sell out concert. Many concert attendees did not head the advice of the venue to arrive early. Traffic was as expected and one of those meandering snake single file lines to enter the venue in the parking lot. Some fans waited over an hour to enter the concert in the rain. But once fans passed through security, they were greeting with a huge two floor, standing room only, 50,000 sq. ft space, filling up with music lovers alike. The stage had a large drum riser with 2 LED video screens. One in front of the drum riser and a larger one behind it that would play music videos in between sets. Along the edge of the stage were remote light bars that are blinding if you look at them directly.

Motionless in White

Motionless in White is an American heavy metal band from Scranton, Pennsylvania. Formed in 2005, the band has stated that their band name is derived from the Eighteen Visions song “Motionless and White”. Their set was nine songs in length featuring songs like, “Disguise” and “Another Life”. During “Cyberhex”, the song was stopped at the last chorus because of a fan injury. Security and medical professionals were able to attend to the fan and the show continued on. Their second last song was a Killers cover, “Somebody Told Me” where almost every fan was singing along to the lyrics, because who does not like The Killers? It was announced that the bassist Justin was not there because he was at home expecting a new born child in Rochester.

Black Veil Brides

Black Veil Brides is an American rock band based in Hollywood, California formed in 2006. Their style has constantly been changing ever since the group was formed in 2006. They were originally described as metalcore when they were formed but now resemble glam metal/shock rock like Kiss or Motley Crue. Singer Andy Biersack was recently diagnosed with Covid-19 and had to drop from their current tour for a few shows. He was recently cleared and they have rejoined the tour.

Ice Nine Kills

Ice Nine Kills (sometimes stylized in all capital letters or abbreviated to INK, and formerly known as Ice Nine) is an American heavy metal band from Boston, Massachusetts who are signed to Fearless Records. Best known for its horror-inspired lyrics, Ice Nine Kills formed in its earliest incarnation in 2000 by high school friends Spencer Charnas and Jeremy Schwartz. Charnas is currently the only remaining founding member.

Throughout their set, they used props like axes, drills and chainsaws for imagery to remind fans of horror movies as each band member was a separate character. Some of their inspiration was from movies like American Psycho, Hostel, Psycho and The Evil Dead. Their 13 song set featured songs like: “Welcome to Horrorwood”, “Hip to be Scared” and “Wurst Vacation”. During their third song, a fan appeared to be injured and security signaled to pause the show again. Security was overhead saying that the fan just dropped their phone and were struggling to get back up. Shortly after this the show resumed.

This tour will be stopping in Huntington NY at The Paramount on Friday April 15th for another sold out show. Ice Nine Kills will be back in Buffalo opening for Metallica on August 11th at Highmark Stadium (Home of the Buffalo Bills!)
