Wiz Khalifa and Logic have just announced their co-headline Vinyl Verse Tour featuring special guests. In fact, the 28-city tour will make a stops throughout New York at the Brooklyn Barclay’s Center on August 16, and at Saratoga Springs’ Saratoga Performing Arts Center on August 23. The two infamous rappers have joined forces with Live Nation for their upcoming Vinyl Verse Tour. Featuring special guests DJ Drama, C Dot Castro, and Fedd the God, the 28-city trek kicks off July 27 at the FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine, California, making stops in Houston, Atlanta, and Brooklyn, before wrapping up in St.Louis.

The Brooklyn Film Festival has announced its 25th edition will be staged on June 3-12, 2022 at Windmill Studios in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

This edition’s theme is Unthinkable. Executive Director Marco Ursino explains Brooklyn Film Festival’s efforts to address the current cultural moment.
“It is undeniable that we are living in divisive times, where every political and social current creates and follows its own fabricated truth.,” said Ursino. “In such a world, any profound statement is destined to please some, while it offends others. What we used to define reality, has been carefully hidden, to the point that it has become almost unthinkable.”

He hopes that Brooklyn Film Festival can be a source of inspiration for it attendees.
“Brooklyn Film Festival wants to reignite the audience’s imagination,” said Ursino. “[And] offer an opportunity to revisit reality, and reinforce the Unthinkable, by presenting 150, uncensored film projects from every corner of the world.”
Brooklyn Film Festival divides its movies into six categories: Feature Narrative, Documentary Feature, Short Narrative, Short Documentary, Experimental, and Animation. The festival has had the same selection criteria—which it considers its trademark—in place since its inaugural edition in 1998.
Movies submitted cannot be older than two years and are all eligible to participate in awards competition. Which means even the smallest movie could be awarded the top prize, known as the Grand Chameleon. In an effort to highlight the selected movies it does not screen films that were not submitted for consideration.
Brooklyn Film Festival 2022 will also continue to hold its annual KidsFilmFest at Windmill Studios on June 4 and online throughout the festival’s duration. KidsFilmFest presents two programming slates; one for kids aged 3 to 7 and another for kids 8 to 15. All the movies selected for KidsFilmFest are G rated and include animated, live-action, and documentary movies.

Brooklyn collective Underground System has recently released “Desnuda.” The single comes in anticipation of their forthcoming EP, Into The Fire, which is set to release on May 6th.
Underground System is a compelling collective that blends reggaeton, funk, and house music. The deep bass lines on this cut mixed with the ethereal Spanish vocals create an atmosphere that only a few other artists can replicate. Underground System may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but if any of the former genres interest you then it is definitely worth checking out.

Brooklyn-based PEAK has released their second official live release in the band’s Hot Clips series. They’ll be in Manhattan this on Saturday, April 16, supporting Lespecial at Gramercy Theatre.
PEAK culled together Hot Clips 2 from some of their favorite jams from Summer and Fall 2021, including unreleased songs, songs from previous albums and a cover of Mac Demarco’s “Freaking out the Neighborhood.” The bookends to the album – “Path Paved with Roses” and groovy earworm “Starlight Child” – create a digestible sample of PEAK’s live experience, with a sound that harkens back to 90’s roots of the Northeast jam scene.
The PEAK quartet features songwriter and guitarist Jeremy Hilliard (Turbine), Kito Bovenshulte (Particle) on drums, Josh T. Carter (Haley Jane and The Primates) on bass, and Johnny Young on keys (Mick Taylor Band). The self-described pychedelic indie funk band can be found jamming extensively during live shows, and allow the songs on the album to speak for themselves.
The group released their sophomore studio album, Choppy Water, in October of last year, chocking the album full with groove-based psychedelic rock and plenty of funk, electro-pop, prog, and Americana. The deep, polished grooves from Carter and Bovenshulte complement Hilliard’s and Young’s solos, wailing with searing intensity. Check out their recent show at Brooklyn Bowl on November 30, 2021.

Brooklyn-based artist Max ZT shared his new performance video for his single “Daybreak,” off of his solo debut album Daybreak, released on April 8.

Daybreak traces its roots to the darkest darks of the pandemic, with all the lockdowns. Max turned to music for healing and restoration at a time when society’s future was uncertain. He would send recorded improvisations to friends and family, who found them to be extraordinary sources of solace and relief.
The reaction was shocking. I know music has always been a balm for me, but to see the effect it had on others, on such a direct, one-to-one level, was honestly incredible.

NPR has described him as the “Jimi Hendrix of dulcimer.” He has scored an Emmy-winning ESPN documentary, co-wrote the music for his wife Priya Darshini’s GRAMMY-nominated debut Periphery, and shared the stage with the likes of Ravi Shankar and more.
His first lead single “In It” shows his unique ability to invite deep thought through his music as the track goes through different emotions to get to a resolution. The new single “Daybreak” is beautiful and heartbreaking as it takes you on a journey through deep melodies and strong conclusions.

New York City-based A Beacon School is back with his first single in three years, “Dot,” an immersive multi-instrumentalist dreampop track. In addition to the songs’ release, A Beacon School is having a release show at The Sultan in Brooklyn, featuring Creature of Doom and S.C.A.B on April 9th.

Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Patrick J. Smith is the mastermind behind this dream pop project. Smith began making music as A Beacon School in 2009, releasing a home-recorded demo single was released in 2011, and a self-titled EP by a full-band lineup appeared near the end of 2012. He has played with bands such as Modern Rivals and Bluffing, additionally working with Parquet Courts’ Max Savage as part of Maxband.
In 2018, A Beacon School’s Cola was released by Grind Select. After receiving positive press and slowly gaining a worldwide following, an expanded vinyl edition of Cola was released in 2019 in conjunction with Fat Possum’s House Arrest imprint, amassing over 40 million streams.
Smith adds layers of soothing guitars and vocals with ease, reaching a build-up that feels natural, without ever fully peaking.

Brooklyn-based two-time GRAMMY award winner Lucy Kalantari is an artist, composer, and producer passionate about creating children’s media. She is the frontwoman and bandleader for Lucy Kalantari & the Jazz Cats. She just released a new music video for her song “Art” off of her EP What Kind Of World?

Her album All the Sounds won the Grammy Award for Best Children’s Album and in 2020, Kalantari produced, recorded and arranged the Grammy award-winning album All the Ladies, by Joanie Leeds. Her latest EP, What Kind of World?, had the title track named Biggest Songs of 2021 by SiriusXM Kids Place Live. Her music promotes joy, and inspires community while highlighting the power of resilience.
She is a full time music creator and mother to an nine-year-old musician, and she still takes time to mentor, teaching high school and college students to pursue their passions.
The video for her song “Art” features handdrawn art by by seven-year-old Hannah, and directed by Matt Mayers. The song is a mesmerizing and thought-provoking song that addresses the evolution of self, growth, and how things don’t last very long.

Forever Honey is composed of Liv Price (lead vocals, guitar), Aida Mekonnen (lead guitar, vocals), Steve Vannelli (drums, keys), and Jack McLoughlin (bass, production). They are known to blend different sounds, stories and emotions to relate to their fans.
Their newest song came to be from personal experiences and the title of it is meant to be literal. Forever Honey created a song that expresses the point of view of social media users scrolling through the various platform. The group focused on the everyday thoughts, anxieties, and pressures from using social media.
“Number One Fan,” in particular, is our least abstract/most literal song, lyrically. The entire thing is about scrolling through instagram and seeing the highlights reel from everyone’s life. You know people, deeply, in the least meaningful ways; you fall in love with the least accurate version of someone.

The group also discussed, during the beginning of the pandemic everyone was focused on TikTok and Instagram, which is where the lyrics from “Number One Fan” originated from.
Despite enduring obstacles, as a result of the pandemic during the debut of their first EP Pre-Mortem High, Forever Honey still managed to grasp an audience and make a name for themselves within the music industry. Their first live show took place in the Summer of 2021, following the release of their single “Satellite” and ever since Forever Honey has continuously elevated their skill set.

Juno Award-winning band VOIVOD announces their tour dates for this coming June, “Synchro Anarchy” Tour for North American shows. The tour will stop in NY on June 14th in Buffalo at the Rec Room, June 17th in Brooklyn at the Market Hotel, and June 18th in Liverpool at Sharkey’s.
