As an individual with Autism, the New Jersey native has worked hard on social media platforms like Tiktok and Instagram to spread awareness and raise support for his community. He has become a social media sensation and gained over 13 million likes on Tiktok, coining the phrase “Let’s Normalize Autism”.
Cory Singer also promotes positivity through his music. Following his win on Kandi Burruss’s singing competition, The Kandi Factory, he released a number of singles including ‘Someone’, ‘Goodbye Felicia’ and ‘Blind in Love’. His newest single ‘Break of Dawn’ aims to give hope to those who with disabilities and show them that they are loved.
Singer appeared in Joe DiPietro’s play “The Last Dance” and was nominated for “Best Vocal Performance” in 2013. He went on to continue his theater performances with his 2019 participation in Westfield Community Players “Follies” and the award winning musical “They Call It Gravy, We Call It Sauce”.
Singer has recently joined forces with the “I Am Able” Foundation. As part of their advisory board, he will provide fresh insights and help bring forth new ideas. “I Am Able” is a fast growing movement created to show the world that those with disabilities are able to live the life they’ve always dreamed of.
The National Recording Registry has announced its list of inductees for 2022, including material from NY natives Alicia Keys, A Tribe Called Quest, Wu-Tang Clan and more. Inductions are based on cultural, historical or aesthetic importance.
The 2022 class features inductions of Hip Hop and Latin sounds, as well as historical radio broadcasts, a podcast interview and presidential speech. After receiving over 1,000 nominations, the Library of Congress announced the finalized list of recordings that will be inducted this year.
Harlem native Alicia Keys will receive the honor of having her 2001 debut album, Songs in A Minor, immortalized in the LOC registry. The album became a critical success immediately after its release and won Best R&B Album at the 2002 Grammys.
A Tribe Called Quest’s 1991 album The Low End Theory will also be inducted, due to its innovative fusion of jazz and rap. The group’s sophomore album was championed by critics as a milestone for alternative rap, opening doors for future artists like Pharrell, Mos Def and The Roots and launching Busta Rhymes’s career.
Wu-Tang Clan’s 1993 album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) shaped the sound of hardcore rap and changed the way East Coast rap would sound for years after. The group’s impact on pop culture runs deep and wide as members have launched their own projects. The Staten Island collective has launched the careers of many members including Method Man, Ol’ Dirty Bastard and Ghostface Killah
James P. Johnson’s ‘Harlem Strut’ cemented the jazz pianist as one of the best of his time. He composed many hit songs including ‘The Charleston’ and inspired a number of great acts to follow including Duke Ellington, Pat Flowers and Cliff Jackson. The pioneering artist was seen as the bridge between ragtime and jazz.
Max Roach’s 1960 album We Insist! Max Roach’s Freedom Now Suite covered a crucial time of racial injustice and civil rights in America. The five track album was found to be “too controversial” at the time of its release, but has finally been recognized as an important aspect of Black peoples’ fight for equality and liberty. It has been called a “jazz landmark” and “enduring civil rights statement”.
Public radio station, WNYC, will make an appearance thanks to their courageous coverage of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The NPR station broadcast the first details of the World Trade Center attacks, even as they struggled to keep the signal live. The station would continue to give updates throughout the day.

Hip Hop Legends Wu-Tang Clan and Nas have released the dates for their upcoming 25 city summer tour. Beginning in August, the five-week trek will see Nas and the Clan make their way to the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ on Tuesday, September 13.
Wu-Tang Clan are recognized as one of the greatest hip hop groups of all time since their breakout debut,36 Chambers, in 1993. They have set numerous trends and have had a significant impact on the rap game and have provided us with some of the rap game’s greatest personalities.
Despite having nine distinct characters, the group seamlessly merges under the musical guidance of RZA. While all skilled rappers, his vision for the group both sonically and stylistically has created an everlasting movement. The group became famous for sampling martial arts films, RZA kept a heavy Motown and oldies influence throughout the Clan’s music, and sampling the likes of Syl Johnson, Aretha Franklin, among others.
Unlike many groups that have phased out of the limelight, the Clan remain relevant, regardless of time. While the group has always taken regular breaks, they have still managed to churn out three platinum albums and more than 85 full-length releases. They were also one of the first acts to diversify their brand, with Wu Wear becoming a popular hip hop brand.
Never the slouch, Nas had his big break after the release of his 1992 song “Halftime“, from the Zebrahead movie soundtrack. He released his classic debut, Illamatic, in 1994 with Colombia Records. With gritty and thought provoking rhymes alike, Nas is certified as one of the best rappers of all-time.
After winning his first Grammy-award for his 2020 album, King’s Disease, Nas was again nominated for “King’s Disease II,” a testament to his longevity.
With the substantial amount of influence both parties have had over decades within the hip hop community and worldwide, the tour is sure to be highly successful.
For all fans, tickets will be available for purchase on Tuesday, April 26 at 10 A.M.

Multidisciplinary arts center Basilica Hudson has announced their 2022 season, and this season is loaded with tons of film, music, art, environmental, and community programs.
For those unfamiliar, Basilica Hudson is an arts and performance venue built inside an old factory in the city of Hudson, NY. Since then, the venue has been renovated and is now solar-powered. An extension of Basilica Hudson, BASILICA GREEN, works hard to develop public programs, push for green initiatives, and promote environmental stewardship in the Hudson Valley community. Notably, on April 24th, BASILICA GREEN will host an Earth Day event on their campus. Here, there will be tons of educational opportunities as well as live music and advocacy letter-writing campaign opportunities.

Syracuse University’s Carrier Dome will finally change its name after 43 years. The venue’s naming rights will go to JMA Wireless, a local technology company.

The famed Central New York stadium got its name after Carrier Global Corporation made a $2.75 million donation in 1979, the year before it opened, in exchange for naming rights in perpetuity. The University and Carrier decided to end their partnership this month, nearly two decades since Carrier closed to production plants in Syracuse after laying off more than 1,200 workers in 2003.
In addition to numerous sporting events, the Carrier Dome has also hosted many well know musicians and concerts. Some of the most notable acts that performed there include Prince in 1985, Billy Joel in 2015, and Paul McCartney in 2017. The former Beatles front man is scheduled to perform at the Carrier Dome again on June 4 of this year.
Prince’s performance at the Carrier Dome, from March 30, 1985, was live streamed on the deceased icon’s YouTube channel in May of 2020. The footage was made available as part of Prince’s estate’s efforts to release previously unseen videos contained in his Paisley Park archives. The Syracuse show then became a live album with sales from the album donated to the World Health Organization.
Paul McCartney will be making his second stop at the Carrier Dome this June. Prior to the concert scheduled for this summer he had performed at the Carrier Dome in September of 2017. The two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee had also been slated to play the venue in 1993 before cancelling his show.
Despite the impending name change, it’s too early to tell if this will affect future bookings. The name change has not yet been officially announced by either Syracuse University or Carrier. There is still no confirmation of the venue’s new name.
The Rock and Roll Playhouse has announced that a national Earth Day weekend celebration on April 23 and 24 is coming to Port Chester, NY. The Playhouse is a family concert series where kids rock out to the classics, and this concert series will feature music by the Grateful Dead for Kids.
The Rock and Roll Playhouse Grateful Dead Earth Day celebration.
Stephen Grybowski, Senior Director of the Playhouse, said they are excited to bring families together for this event.
We’re excited to bring families together across the country to celebrate Earth Day Weekend. The Grateful Dead were not only a phenomenal band with classic songs, but they were environmentally aware—that’s a connection that makes these shows an even more special celebration for families as we inspire the next generation of young rockers.
It provides kids with early music exposure and promotes creativity. It is introducing the new generation to music by artists including The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Phish, David Bowie, Prince, Aretha Franklin, Dave Matthews Band, and more. It was founded in 2013 at the Brooklyn Bowl by Peter Shapiro, co-owner of the Bowl and owner of The Capitol Theatre, and Amy Striem, a certified Early Childhood, and Elementary teacher.
Proceeds from the shows will go to the Grateful Dead’s official non-profit Rex Foundation, which supports charitable organizations working to protect the Earth. Tickets are on sale now.
Northwell Health’s “Side By Side: A Celebration of Service” is making its return to the UBS Arena with a special benefit concert from John Legend, along with a special appearance from Jason Derulo. This two-day festival starts on Sunday, May 29.
This event will begin with a block party in Flatiron Plaza on May 28, hosted by Alfonso Ribeiro, with appearances from Questlove, Stars of Broadway, the Northwell Health Nurse Choir, and more.
As a part of Memorial Day Weekend and New York’s Fleet Week, the first day of the festival includes active military members, veterans, and their families who will get the chance to mingle with the public for a day of games, food, music and more. Subsequently, day two will solely honor the nation’s active-duty military, veterans and their families with Legend’s hit songs.
Memorial Day weekend is a dedicated time every year to reflect on the sacrifices so many Americans have made in our country’s history. We should never take for granted the freedoms we enjoy in this country or forget our heroes in the armed forces who will stop at nothing to protect those freedoms. We are honored to host ‘Side by Side: A Celebration of Service’ for those very reasons – to honor our service members.
Michael Dowling, president and CEO of Northwell
Northwell Health’s “Side By Side: A Celebration of Service” first launched in 2019 and has had a great turnout ever since. In fact, this festival has raised more than $2 million for Northwell Health’s Military Liaison Services, an organization that focuses on benefiting those who have served and are struggling with post traumatic stress disorder, with medical and behavioral services, as well as better employment opportunities.
Tickets for the concert event will be accessible on Friday, April 15 at 10 A.M. For more information visit Side By Side NYC.
