Saturday Night Live stirred up one of their own mighty veterans as Will Forte, complemented with music guest and recent rockstar Måneskin for the January 22 episode. Forte used the monologue to announce the upcoming second season of MacGruber after its official beginnings on SNL back when he was still a cast member.
Reminiscing on his olden days, Will Forte opened up about his misfortunes waiting for his special moment to host after watching his colleagues Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Andy Samberg, Fred Armisten, and Jason Sudeikis already do so. Finally, after 12 years, we get to see Will’s face, of course that was too soon joined by an appearance from Kristen Wiig and upcoming host Willem DeFoe, who Will was mistaken for after Lorne Michael’s phone had autocorrected “Willem.”
The show started with a cold open Fox News update from Kate McKinnon interviewing Aidy Bryant’s Senator Ted Cruz and Pete Davidson as Novak Djokovic, an unvaccinated tennis player. Senator Ted Cruz urged us to book our Cancún vacations today, escaping this horrid New York winter.
MacGruber came back tonight alongside his longtime friend Kristen Wiig. Except this sketch had been modified to our current climate and Will Forte sported a cut open mask to then detonate his iconic bomb.
Mark Zazz (Will Forte) hosted Kid Klash, a show where Aidy Bryant had to find the flag at the bottom of the whipped cream pie, cross the slippery monkey bars above nacho cheese sauce to her shrimp parents.
On hiatus from their international nomination for Best Song of the Year for the 2022 Brit Awards, Måneskin rocked “Beggin” in a patterned white head-to-toe suit. Full faced, featuring a signature silver smokey eye, Damiano David showed us how he won our hearts winning Eurovision and later at the American Music Awards last year.

‘Cinema Classics’ was welcomed by Keenan Thompson and gaslit by Will Forte. Kate Mckinnon played his wife who was gaslighted around gaslights.
Måneskin came back for more with “I Wanna Be Your Slave.” A new flowered covered dazzling suit brought him to his knees whining beneath his guitarist Thomas Raggi just before luring the audience back in. Prancing about the stage with bassist Victoria De Angelis, he had us dancing until the end of the night. His performance on MTV UK sported a similar look this past November.

Alan Braufman announces a new live album due on April 8, tilted Live In New York City featuring the recording of Braufman with his five-piece band, Cooper-Moore (piano, ashimba, recitation), William Parker (bass), John Clark (French horn), Jim Schapperow (drums) and Ralph Williams (percussion) in an early 1975 live radio session.

Alan Braufman was born in 1951 in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island. After some time, he moved to Boston to attend Berklee in 1968 to pursue music. Doing so made him become an instrumental figure in New York City culture. He currently lives and performs in Salt Lake City, UT, and became a teacher along with learning to play the saxophone.

Braufman is an experienced saxophonist, flutist, and composer within the Jazz community and preforms with many acts such as Alan Michael Band, Cooper-Moore, Cecil McBee and many others. In 2016, the Alan Michael Band became nominated for Best Jazz Artist by the Salt Lake City Weekly.

Braufman would go on to work with drummer William Hooker and his own groups before relocating to Salt Lake City. His album “Valley of Search” has gained popularity and captures a unique historical slice of New York’s creative underground Jazz.
The vinyl of the album is a 94-minute performance that is spread over 5 album sides on 3 LPs and 2 CDs. Along with this, the album will feature a live version of his song “Chant.” The album will be available on vinyl, CD and to stream on April 8th via Valley of Search and is available for pre-order/ pre-save at Bandcamp.
Tanglewood announced it’s huge 2022 season lineup running June 17, 2022 through September 3, 2022 including big names like Ringo Starr, Judy Collins and Richard Thompson, John Williams, and many more.
Tanglewood is the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra which owns and operates the venue. The venue is located in the Berkshires, more specifically, Lenox, Massachusetts. The Tanglewood Concert series started under a different name all the way back in 1934 and has since grown into the staple of the Berkshires it is today. This summer will mark the first time since 2019 that Tanglewood will offer a full season of concerts and events. Both in 2020 and 2021 the season was greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020 season was canceled and an online festival was held instead. The 2021 season was held in person but with limited capacity.
This year’s Tanglewood season will present a wide range of programs that spotlight favorite returning musicians and repertoire and introduce new performers and programming. This season will include eight world and American premieres and 28 works by living composers, as well as 21 artists making their Tanglewood or BSO debuts. The 2020 season will take place at the Seiji Ozawa Hall, the Linde Center for Music, and the Koussevitzky Music Shed.
The Season will start on June 17, 2022 with a performance from Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band at 7PM at the Koussevitzky Music Shed in Lenox, MA. It will end with Judy Collins and Richard Thompson on September 3 at the Koussevitzky Music Shed, in Lenox, MA. Some of the other big names that will be partaking in the season include Brandi Carlile, John Williams – The Tanglewood 90th Birthday Celebration, Garrick Ohlsson, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Empire Strikes Back, James Taylor, and many more.
Tickets to the tanglewood season go on sale on March 10, 2022 at 10AM. Check out the entire list of programs here. Proof of either vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test are required for entry to performances and concert activities at the Linde Center. A negative COVID-19 test must either be a PCR test taken within the last 72 hours or an antigen test taken within the last 24 hours. Proof of a negative test can be in the form of a photo or email of negative test results from a clinic, testing center, or medical professional, or a time-stamped photo of an at-home test. Options for proof of vaccination include showing a vaccination card, a photo of the card, or a digital vaccine record. Attendees will also be required to wear masks while indoors regardless of vaccination status.

Critically regarded as one of the top lyricists in the contemporary generation, Joey Bada$$ proudly represents his home borough in his discography, going even so far to release a song parading his Brooklyn roots in “Brooklyn’s Own.”
After first gaining internet popularity in 2010, Joey’s professional rap career quickly came to nascency in 2011, where he formed the Brooklyn-based hip hop collective Pro Era. The collective consisted of rappers such as CJ Fly, Kirk Knight, and the late Capital STEEZ. A year later, Joey would go on to release his first mixtape, 1999. This project featured classics such as “Killuminati” and “Survival Tactics,” both featuring Capital STEEZ. The lyricism that Joey showcased in these two respective songs would foreshadow his future success in hip hop.

Buffalo metalcore legends Every Time I Die announced their split across social media on Monday, January 17. The split comes with some controversy as members Jordan Buckley, Andy Williams, Stephen Micciche, and Clayton “Goose” Holyoak released a statement separate from lead singer Keith Buckley.

Every Time I Die started back in 1998 and is an American metalcore band in Buffalo. Over the years they have released nine studio albums including their latest album Radical which dropped on October 22, 2021. Their latest lineup consisted of Jordan Buckley, lead guitarist (1998–2022), Andy Williams, rhythm guitarist (1998–2022), Stephen Micciche, bassist (2001–2005, 2011–2022), Clayton “Goose” Holyoak , drums (2017–2022), and Keith Buckley, lead singer (1998–2022).
The band’s split was announced originally on Jordan Buckley’s twitter saying, “Andy, Jordan, Steve and Goose’s last show with Every Time I Die was on Dec 11, 2021. While we hoped to come to an agreed upon legal statement that outlined the truth, we were informed today of something planned to be released not mutually agreed upon that consists of inaccuracies and controls a narrative to benefit one.” The post continued saying that the band was not going to be replacing their singer and that they are forever grateful for their fans. The post also touched on some of the reasons behind the split saying, “There has been no direct communication with Keith, because it’s either impossible for direct communication with him solely or we’ve been cut off to any and all communication by him himself. Every Time I Die was these 5 members, and we were never budging or accepting any changes.”
Keith Buckley responded to his former bandmates by posting a legal notice given to him in late December and by speaking his truth on what went down with the separation of the band on January 19, 2022. Prior to the split, Keith Buckley was currently on a break from the band for his own mental health. He stated on his twitter that this needed hiatus was due to talks from his bandmates replacing him, in particular his brother. He spoke on why he prioritized his mental health over the band after the band made an “official statement” indicating that they would finish the tour without their singer which has since been deleted. Keith Buckley said back on December 3, 2022 that his experience was quite different from the statement and that “while meditating in a side room yesterday I overheard my own brother tell an outsider that ETID had been in talks to replace me this entire time. I thought they were my biggest supporters. but Jordan had lied. his concern was a cruel trick. their statement is proof.”

Steve Miccich chimed in on January 19, 2022 saying it was actually Keith Buckley who wanted Jordan Buckley out of the band and that there were a lot of complications while on tour that played into the decision to split but that it was what was needed in the end. And the 4 of us rightfully so, were setting boundaries and protecting our interests. That’s it. That’s all that is. And for this to have even gotten to where it is is soooo sad..”

Every Time I Die was originally supposed to head out on tour with Underoath and Spiritbox next month but it has been confirmed that new support will be announced on Monday January 24, 2022 by Underoath on their social media.
Slipknot, the notorious heavy metal band, will pass through Brooklyn and Albany this May. This information comes amidst the announcement of Knotfest Roadshow 2022. Special guests Cypress Hill and Ho99o9 are expected to join Slipknot amidst the second leg of their tour and will perform in the two New York venues.
Slipknot was first formed in 1995 in Des Moines, Iowa and their 1999 debut self-titled album propelled them to international fame, selling over two million US copies to date. Since then, the band has dominated the heavy metal scene for over twenty years. Their most recent studio album, We Are Not Your Kind, was released in 2019 and debuted at #1 in 12 countries, including the US, UK, Australia, Canada, and Mexico.
The Grammy-award-winning band announces their 2022 tour following the success of Knotfest Roadshow 2021, which sold out amphitheaters across the country. Moreover, Slipknot’s highly anticipated seventh studio album is expected to drop this year, and their 2021 single, “The Chapeltown Rag,” which debuted at Knotfest Los Angeles, has fans craving for more music. Hip hop groups Cypress Hill and Ho99o9 are also set to follow Slipknot on the second leg of their tour and will be joining the band in Brooklyn and Albany. Cypress Hill initially gained notoriety from 90’s rap songs such as “Insane in the Brain” and “Hits from the Bong.” Since then the group has dabbled in numerous other genres and gained respect from the likes of rock legends Mike Shinoda and Tom Morello. To this day, the group remains a permanent staple of the 90s West Coast hip hop scene. Ho99o9, on the other hand, is a horrorcore rap group, more emblematic of the metal themes that Slipknot portrays. Their music is significantly more uproaring in the way it mirrors and pays respect to heavy metal vocals. The group may not be well known, but they have gained respect between the genres that they envelop, working with the likes of rapper GHOSTEMANE and industrial metal band 3TEETH.

Folk and protest music legend Pete Seeger performed on The Late Show with David Letterman in 2008, performing “Take it From Dr. King,” a tribute to the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Seeger, who helped popularize the Civil Rights movement’s protest anthem “We Shall Overcome,” first met Dr. King in 1957 at Highlander Folk School, a social justice leadership training school and cultural center located in New Market, Tennessee. Seeger recalls the day:
I met her, I met all three of them that day. As a matter of fact there is a picture taken of us out standing out standing in front of a cinder block wall that they enlarged the barn which became their library and King, Abernathy, Rosa, Me and Miles and Zelphilia’s teenage daughter were there. Seeger would later write the song “Take It From Dr. King,” a tribute to the legacy of a man who led a non-violent movement that championed civil rights and equality.

On September 2, 1957, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., visited Highlander Folk School in Tennessee. Part of the school’s mission was to help prepare civil rights workers to challenge unjust laws and racist policies that discriminated against African Americans. The school also made a point of bringing blacks and whites together to share experiences and to learn from each other. It was a dangerous idea. At a time when southern laws kept blacks and whites segregated or separate, some white racists terrorized African Americans with deadly violence.
Dr. King delivered the main speech that day, honoring the school’s 25th anniversary. As part of the meeting, folk singer Pete Seeger got up with his banjo. He plucked out a song he had learned at Highlander, and led the audience in singing it.
Later that day, Dr. King found himself humming the tune in the car. “There’s something about that song that haunts you,” he said to his companions.
That song in question was the protest movement song “We Shall Overcome.”

For the first episode of 2022, SNL welcomed Ariana Debose to host, along with Jack Antonoff’s Bleachers as musical guest. Debose won a Golden Globe earlier this week for her performance as Anita in Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” and gained additional honors as the 200th woman since 1975 to host the NBC variety show.
During her monologue, Debose was joined by veteran cast member Kate McKinnon for a medley of “West Side Story” numbers, including “Tonight,” “Something’s Coming” and “America;” during “I Feel Pretty” the pair fist bumped following the famous line “I feel pretty and witty and gay!”

The show began with “Message from the President” and featured new cast member James Austin Johnson as President Joe Biden blaming the spread of the omicron variant of COVID-19 on too many people seeing “Spiderman: No Way Home.” Biden at one point wondered if there were other President Biden’s in the multiverse, leading Pete Davidson to arrive as a Biden variant from another universe.
Local business commercials in the New York Metro area were spoofed by Davidson and Chloe Fineman, who advertised their shop for prom and formal wear in “Formal Emporium,” with featured player Andrew Dismukes as their nerdy son.

Chris Redd made his debut as new New York City Mayor Eric Adams, in a NY1 press conference sketch where Adams made his arrival to the podium with Mase’s “Feel So Good”as walk on music. Adams bragged about the swag he brings to the office and gave stark comparison to the predecessor, who was never parodied on SNL in his eight prior years in office.

Jack Antonoff’s NYC-based indie-pop group Bleachers performed an energetic “How Dare You Want More,” off 2021’s Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night, and was performed on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last year.Mark ‘Rat’ Ratner Antonoff was joined by singer-songwriter Blu DeTiger on bass, Claud on keys and Rick Antonoff, Jack’s dad, on guitar.

The Sound of Music has been a regular musical sketch number on SNL, appearing in sketches twice in the last four years. Debose’s Broadway chops were on display in “Governess” where a widower, Kenan Thompson, hired DeBose to teach his children, who sang a take on “Do-Re-Mi.”
For Bleachers’ second song, Antonoff’s 2020 collaboration with Bruce Springsteen, “Chinatown,” was featured, with Claud shifting to guitar. Antonoff recently confirmed that he will release a new Bleachers album, the group’s fourth, by the end of the year.

Rapper Roddy Ricch was originally scheduled as musical guest this evening but had to withdraw due to members of his team being exposed to COVID-19. SNL returns on January 22 with host Will Forte and musical guest Måneskin.
One sketch that was cut for time, “All On Me,” features a rapper (Chris Redd) performs a song with his entourage (Ariana DeBose, rapper Freddie Gibbs, Kenan Thompson) after signing a major deal.
Annie in the Water have announced a slate of winter tour dates, ahead of the release of their forthcoming studio album, Sun at Dawn, set to be released Friday, March 4th.

Our forthcoming album Sun at Dawn represents the paths we took in life as individuals and how it brought us together in the band. The album consists of songs that were written along these separate life experiences and are joined by songs that were written together as a band. The sun at dawn illustrates that this is just the beginning of our adventures musically and as friends.
We have a lot planned for 2022. Beyond releasing our newest album we are lining up bigger tours than we have had in recent years. Not only that, but we have also began writing more new material after the recording process of the upcoming album ended. Broadway announced new regulations requiring full COVID-19 vaccination for kids 5 and older on January 10, in the wake of the surging omicron strain sweeping across the country.

The new regulations will begin on January 29, 2022 and will involve all 41 theaters of the Broadway League requiring full vaccinations for children ages 5 to 11 for all performances. To be fully vaccinated, the guest attending a performance must be at least 14 days after their second dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine or at least 14 days after their single dose of a one-dose vaccine. The owners and operators of all 41 Broadway theaters who are part of the Broadway League also have extended their mask and vaccine requirements through at least April 30, 2022.
Children under five years of age, who can not be vaccinated yet, must have a negative PCR test performed by a medical provider within 72 hours of the performance start time or a negative rapid antigen test taken within six hours of the performance start time to be allowed entry to the event. Also, the “Buy With Confidence” program has also been extended, allowing for flexible exchanges and refunds due to COVID-19 incidences.
Being vaccinated means on the date of the performance a guest is at least 14 days after their second dose of a two dose COVID-19 vaccine OR at least 14 days after their single dose of an approved single dose COVID-19 vaccine. Any guest whose last vaccine dose (excluding boosters) was fewer than 14 days before the date of performance must, in addition to meeting these requirements, also present proof of (a) a negative COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours of the performance time, or (b) a negative COVID-19 antigen test within 6 hours of performance time. Proof of vaccination must come directly from the healthcare provider that performed the vaccination. Guests may display proof on a smartphone or present a physical copy. New York State residents, or anyone who received a COVID-19 vaccine in New York State, may present proof through the use of the Excelsior Pass (for more details, visit epass.ny.gov) or any other digital app.
Currently the regulations through January 28, 2022 stand as guests 12 and older will need to be Vaccinated (as defined below) with an FDA or WHO authorized vaccine AND present a government-issued photo ID such as a driver’s license or passport. (Guests 12-18 may use a government-issued ID or school ID – no photo required.) Children ages 5-11 may enter the theatre only when (1) accompanied by an adult who complies with the theatre’s vaccination entry requirements, and (2) has proof of at least one dose of an FDA or WHO approved vaccine. For international guests two doses of any “mix and match” combination of an FDA or WHO approved COVID-19 vaccine are acceptable.
