After the year wait since their last single released, Hawkns dropped their debut new single ‘Head and Heart’ released on April 29 and is streaming now.
Hawkns consists of the three Frank brothers, Ricky, Josh, and Joe, who were born into a family of immigrants. The Frank brothers have come together through a lot of hardship such as almost losing their home and Ricky Frank being diagnosed at fifteen for a rare muscle disease.
The brothers soon later in New Haven, CT found their lead singer Hawkins French who walked into a local music studio and became the missing piece of the Indie Pop Rock outfit “Hawkns”.
Across the East Coast, the band has performed at major stages including Mohegan Sun Casino, The Bitter End, Foxwoods Casino, and the Pleasantville New York Music Festival where they shared the stage with Blues Traveler, Suzanne Vega, and Living Colour.
“The process of creating “Head and Heart” was tough for us as a band, it took a few months to get the vision we had in our head out into our headphones. We wanted to create something that was true to our story, all of the song’s lyrics also are based on real moments from our lives and our journey as a band chasing this crazy dream together, even when we felt like giving up at times. The last lyric in the song “keep on running” is meant to leave listeners with a sense of hope. We plan to follow up with a music video which is going to drop on May 6th.”

Courtney Barnett wrote a lot of songs in the beginning of her career through her experiences of driving through Australian bushland and desert to play shows. A few of her songs, “Dead Fox”, “Scotty Says” and “Out Of the Woodwork” from her early EPs and debut album were created during those days.
The “Here and There” tour is partnering up with The Ally Coalition (TAC) throughout the tour to provide site-specific programs. Courtney Barnett is partnering also with Plus1 to donate $1 ticket to The Ally Coalition.
“This concept was something that remained floating in the back of my mind when I started playing music. Here And There feels like a natural culmination of energy after years of touring, and ten years of working on my label Milk! Records. It’s something I’ve been forever daydreaming about, and part of an always evolving project to share spaces and build new platforms for art and artists that I believe in.“

Not many bands are able to survive for four decades after achieving legendary status, but VOIVOD continues the uphill climb as one of the most creative and passionate bands on the planet. VOIVOD consist of Daniel “Chewy” Mongrain (guitar), Denis “Snake” Belanger (vocals), Michel “Away” Langevin (drums), and Dominic “Rocky” Laroche (bass).
The Greyboy Allstars are set to release their upcoming album Get A Job with music from the original broadcast series Soul Dream on April 1st. The first song off the album, ‘I’ve Got Reasons’, recently dropped along with accompanying video along with Spring Tour Dates where they’ll perform in Woodstock and Brooklyn this April.
The quintet jazz band, Karl Denson (saxophone, flute), Elgin Park (guitars), Aaron Redfield(drums), Chris Stillwell (bass) and Robert Walter (keys) turn up the notches with their new album consisting of 10 unique never-before-released covers that consistently captivated their famed live performances for nearly three decades. Gil Scott-Heron, Gene Ammons and Burt Bacharach are some of the artists who’s songs are showcased on the ‘Get A Job’ album.
The delivery of these covers shows the formative music that shaped the band while also adding a twist of their own funky imprint to the song’s arrangement and legacy.
The more we play together, the more I enjoy listening to the other guys. It seems like a simple idea but finding a place in the mix is what’s important: not the solo. Weave a thread inside the fabric.
-Elgin Park
A running list of around 70 tunes that became live favorites during shows and music that came out of Prestige Records are showcased with the Greyboy Allstars. The soul-jazz band from San Diego, California will be coming to the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock and the Brooklyn Bowl in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
The 21-date ‘Get A Job’ tour has 6 of the shows on-sale now and the remaining 15 shows go on-sale February 4th at greyboyallstars.com
