Jam band supergroup Dead & Company<\/a> make their summer tour stop at the land of chocolate, Hershey Park, <\/a>on August 28. With them as always, following is their eclectic, eccentric, and electric fanbase: the Deadheads, as colorful as their kaleidoscopic visions can take them. The fanbase is incredibly kind, tight knit, dedicated, and functions as a self sustaining community that follows the band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The band started the night with \u201cThe Music Never Stopped,\u201d a good way to get things going. \u201cTouch of Grey\u201d proved to be a most apropriate song, one whose message we can all relate to in the midst of a worldwide health pandemic. Mayer shines on \u201cTennessee Jed\u201d with some fancy chicken picking and long time superstar vocals on \u201cMr.Charlie.\u201d The band wrapped up the first set with an incredible \u201cCassidy,\u201d featuring iconic Weir vocal parts and a fast, fun, everyone sing a long \u201cDon\u2019t Ease Me In\u201d to end the set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second set blasted off with a psychedelic \u201cHere Comes Sunshine\u201d, featuring Mayer leading everyone into the sun, vocally and theoretically speaking ofcourse. Now Bobby gets to shine on vocals as the band goes into an epic \u201cEstimated Prophet\u201d. Dancing shoes are coming on and the band pulls of several extended, even for Grateful Dead <\/a>standards, improvised sections on a massive \u201cEyes of The World\u201d. Mayer gets to shine on vocals again with \u201cAlthea\u201d. And now comes time for the rhythm devils as the rest of the band leaves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After \u201cSpace\u201d Dead & Co went into an unexpected Miles Davis cover of \u201cMilestones,\u201d a most psychedelic and sonically unexpected spectacle. They switch gears into \u201cGoing Down The Road Feeling Bad\u201d and quickly again into \u201cDeath Don\u2019t Have No Mercy.\u201d This featured a somber Weir on vocals, really belting out about death and loss. And to close out the set, a most apropriate \u201cOne More Saturday Night\u201d played with all the vigor and groove a Saturday night show should have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bobby declares that there is a strict curfew in play so they\u2019ll skip the formalities of getting off stage and get right to the encore which was a thumping sing along, \u201cQuinn the Eskimo.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
