  • LOCKN’ Announces Dates and Lineups for Three Mini Fests in 2021

LOCKN’ has announced dates and lineups for three mini fests in 2021 across the month of August. The mini festivals will include live music, food, activities, and camping and will help reduce capacity for smaller and safer concert experiences. The festivities will be taking place on August 13 – 15, August 20 – 22, and August 27 – 29, at LOCKN’ Farm (formerly known as Infinity Downs Farm).

    LOCKN 2021

The LOCKN’ festival has been taking place since 2013 and takes place at the LOCKN’s 387-acre property located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Arrington, VA known as the LOCKN’ Farm. The festival generally hosts Jam bands. During its mini festivals, each weekend will be special in its own way, with a different band headlining the lineups celebrating the past, present, and future of LOCKN’. Of course, all three weekends will also feature an array of activities to enrich the summer days and nights while creating lifelong memories for all who attend.

    LOCKN 2021

The first weekend of fun will take place on Friday, August 13 to Sunday, August 15 with headliners Joe Russo’s Almost Dead performing six sets over three days, joined by special guests The Slip each night. In addition, Friday and Saturday night will see late-night jams and camaraderie thanks to Garcia’s Forest Improv Sessions Hosted by John Medeski and Billy Martin.

Admission tickets are available now via Front Gate Tickets HERE; camping passes are available HERE.

The second weekend of fun will take place on Friday, August 20 to Sunday, August 22 will feature “Goose Presents FRED the Festival,” a historic three-day event headlined by Goose. After an eight-year hiatus, Vasudo will also be featured at FRED the Festival. Regarded as Goose’s musical predecessor, Vasudo’s feel-good sound can be described as Jamaica meets Nashville. Admission tickets are available now via Front Gate Tickets HERE; camping passes are available HERE.

    LOCKN 2021

The third and last weekend will take place on Friday, August 27 to Sunday, August 29 will feature a weekend of collaborative magic headlined by Tedeschi Trucks (performing Saturday and Sunday). • Goose Fall Tour includes Two Terminal 5 shows

Goose will make their return to New York City this Fall Tour for a pair of shows at Terminal 5 over October 8-9. These will mark Goose’s first public indoor shows in 568 days, the most recent being their sold-out performance at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in January 2020.

Goose will make September appearances at 4848 Festival in West Virginia, Bonnaroo in Tennessee, and stops over Halloween weekend at The State Theatre in Portland, ME over October 28 and 29, then at The Palladium in Worcester, MA from October 30-31.

Really fascinated to see the kind of energy we’re going to create with our fans this Fall. There’s really nothing like all being in the same room together, and it’s been so long, I have a feeling we’re going to see some really special nights…especially in all of these new places we’ve never played before.

    Peter Anpsach (vocals, guitar, keys)

The band will migrate to uncharted territory in November, beginning with inaugural Atlanta shows at recently constructed venue The Eastern. After making their New Orleans debut at The Republic on November 9, Goose will touch down in Texas for the first time, playing four shows in Houston, Austin, and Dallas. Tour concludes in Denver at Mission Ballroom, the band’s largest venue to date.

With the exception of the Mission Ballroom shows, a limited number of tickets to each fall date are now available through a fan lottery running today through Wednesday, May 19th at 5 PM ET. Entrants will be notified by end of day on Wednesday, May 19th.

Pre-sale tickets for Goose Fall Tour dates, including Terminal 5 and most other shows, will be available on Thursday, May 20th at 10 AM venue local time using the code ‘STOCKS’. General on-sale commences this Friday, May 21st at 10 AM venue local time.

For the Mission Ballroom shows, lottery will run until 5 PM venue local time on Wednesday, May 26th, followed by a presale from 10 AM – 10 PM local time on Thursday, May 27th. General on-sale begins on Friday, May 28th at 10 AM venue local time.

  • Goose takes Pelham: Thunder, Dungeons, and The Rise of Tennessee Ted

In an act of courage, Goose took the stage only 30 minutes after the last bolt of lightning struck at The Caverns in Pelham, TN. Rain was imminent. Fans marched deep into the woods, adjacent to a misty cave spitting dragon-like smoke. On the night of May 9, a life-time’s worth of campfire stories materialized.

The Connecticut based jam band experienced meaningful growth over the last few years. Fans felt a calling and a reason to travel far and wide. Many were on quests to seek healing after such a painful year. Seekers flew or drove day in and day out in order to find what they were looking for. For many, Goose’s quality live streams provided one small pocket of joy during the COVID-19 shutdown. Those out of work had a reason to find out what day was; especially during the Bingo Tour.

Goose delivered a reflective musical journey. Each song during the first set had a dark undertone. Lights were minimal and intimate. The atmospheric music complemented incoming thunder, lightning, and pouring rain. Upbeat songs like “Butter Rum” were not all fun and games after some lyrical digging.

During set break, fans were asked to descend into the cave where concerts are typically held in order to take shelter from the storm. There was uncertainty, but spirits remained high. This waiting period built up serious energy in the crowd. Everyone prayed for a collective bargain. If the band could only play a few more songs, they would pay back the energy ten-fold.

Goose returned for a heavy hitting, yet positive second set. The power of the crowd pouring out of the cave could only be described as one with dragons. The band was armored with an easy up, and fresh clothes appropriate for the high seas; as well as plenty of towels.

What ensued next was where the deviation in future folktales unfurled. “Madhuvan” roared. The weather cleared. Catharsis achieved. Some reported questioning their state of awakening and considered the probability that they were dreaming. Others briefly contemplated retiring from Goose shows all together in order to end on a high note. The consensus was that the exorcism-like power of “Madhuvan” followed by the reincarnating comfort in “Spirit of the Dark Horse” released everyone from their beasts of burden.

The rest of the night was light hearted. Pure bliss covered everyone’s face, while mud covered the rest of them.

Quests complete and beasts slayed, Goose once again delivered an experience that will last a lifetime. Much appreciation was felt for the crew, band, and fellow attendees for making it an unforgettable night.

  • Goose Announce “Shenanigans Nite Club” Album, Summer Tour Dates

Goose has announced the release of their eagerly awaited new album, Shenanigans Nite Club, slated for a Friday, June 4 release. They’ll embark on a summer tour, of which the first dates are already sold out. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, March 24 at Noon via pre-sale, with code ‘SHENANIGANS,’ with general on-sale following on Friday, March 26 at 10AM local time.

    goose shenanigans

The Norwalk, CT-based band’s second studio LP and first full-length collection in more than five years, Shenanigans Nite Club, which follows the recent release of their cover of Vampire Weekend’s “2021 (January 5th, to be exact).” The track was personally commissioned by Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig – a longtime Goose fan – with the only directive to make it twenty minutes and twenty-one seconds long.

Shenanigans Nite Club is led by a the mesmerizing new single, “Spirit of the Dark Horse,” which is generally recognized as the first Goose song ever written. The boldly ambitious track – which originated after a “twelve-minute meditation” between co-founders Rick Mitarotonda (vocals, guitar) and Trevor Weekz (bass) – has long been a setlist rarity, featured in only a handful of live performances during the band’s early years.

The album serves as an ode to oft-forgotten vestiges of Goose’s musical journey, both personal and collective. Shenanigans Nite Club marks the apex of the rich history between friends of differing ages and experiences from the same small town in Connecticut, drawn together through a deep love of music and storytelling. Songs like the tectonic “Labyrinth” and the ruminative deep-dive, “SOS,” fluidly traverse genres with head-spinning hooks, technical fireworks, and the kind of rare chemistry only possible among truly close collaborators.

While we’ve been touring, the record has been happening in the background. It’s been quite the process. At times, it was difficult. The record is a companion to those growing pains.

Our dream is to inspire people to step off the beaten path. There are a lot of voices that tell you to play it safe. I think the coolest thing in the world is when someone breaks free and goes for whatever weird shit they dream of doing.

  • Music Festivals Return: Suwannee Rising Announces 2021 Lineup

It’s been a year without live music, but there are signs of life coming this spring. Looking to the South as the weather breaks, socially distanced shows and festivals are starting to pop up. Suwannee Rising will welcome Umphrey’s McGee, Lettuce, Goose, Eric Krasno’s Chapter 2, Andy Frasco and the U.N., Big Something and many more to the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park (SOSMP) in Live Oak, FL – April 8 – 10, 2021.

    suwanee rising

Suwannee Live produced two drive-in podded events earlier this year – Larry Keel/Grass Is Dead and the Funky Mardi Gras Masquerade – serving as successful test runs for the return of Suwannee Rising, which is set to be one of the first multi-day music festivals in the US since the pandemic.

For this event, they will offer P.O.D.S. (Personal Outdoor Dance Space), providing a safe and socially distanced setting for fans to enjoy live performances, including Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, Mark Lettieri Group, Magnolia Boulevard, Melody Trucks Band, and Anthill Cinema.

When we cancelled Suwannee Rising 2020, we never imagined the challenges it would present to society and especially the live music industry. We viewed the situation with a glass half-full attitude, realistic but hopeful. No one wanted to accept a world without the live music experience.

After producing two intimate post-Covid shows at the park and attending other drive-in events, we learned that while no one can eliminate 100% of risk from their lives, it is possible to produce a great show that fans, staff, and artists can attend and still dance and feel safe. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting our musical community over the last year through the twists and turns of the Covid-19 pandemic.

    Suwannee Live’s Paul Levine

Although the 800-acre park is home to multiple permanent stages including its famous amphitheater, Suwannee Rising will feature two stages side by side that are located in one of their vast fields, allowing plenty of space for socially distanced P.O.D.S. When one stage ends, the other will start. Large video screens allow every guest to easily view the performances from any of the spacious P.O.D.S., which offer a safely spaced area for family and friends to enjoy the live music, with each including four weekend tickets and primitive camping. P.O.D.S. owners can add up to two extra tickets for a maximum of six people per P.O.D.S. Guests are also allowed to bring their own food and drinks to the show.

And yes, there are still safety measures in place. Masks are required when festival goers aren’t in their P.O.D.S. and additional safety measures will be in place giving fans peace of mind to relax, let go, and soak in the healing power of live music. To learn more about these initiatives and the safety squad please visit the FAQ page.

Tickets and P.O.D.S. go on sale Wednesday, March 3 at 10am EST on Suwannee Live, with Suwannee Rising 2020/21 ticket holders having the first access to the P.O.D.S. starting March 2. For cabins, RV hook ups and golf cart rentals please visit MusicLivesHere.

  • Goose to release 2019 Buffalo show to benefit Nietzsche’s

Goose has announced the release of their latest live album, 2019.11.16 Buffalo, NY, from the Connecticut group’s show at Nietzsche’s, Buffalo’s longest-serving music venue. The release is a newly remastered soundboard recording that is now available on all streaming platforms.

    goose buffalo

Buffalo was a sure highlight for us in 2019. Like a lot of our Fall 2019 shows, it was our first time headlining in town and the show sold out way in advance, so the energy was through the roof. One of my favorite things to do on that tour was survey the crowd, and that night we had people from all over the place, it was really humbling to see that people had traveled just to see us at this small bar in Buffalo, and it turned out to be an absolutely magical night.

    Peter Anspach

In addition to the streaming release, the band plans to press select tracks to vinyl, with a 2-LP, eight-track package available for sale through Bandcamp. Collectors will have an opportunity to purchase regular (vinyl only), deluxe (signed postcard + poster), or test pressings at varying price points.

A portion of proceeds will be donated to Nietzsche’s, as the independent venue continues to weather the multitude of challenges presented by the current pandemic.

Without spots like Nietzsche’s, we wouldn’t have gotten our feet off the ground. You need small venues and local scenes to get started as a band. Even if you’re not making much money per gig (which you aren’t), playing shows keeps the momentum up, the enthusiasm high, and allows you to grow musically as a band so you’ll know what you’re doing when and if you make it to larger venues. Let’s go Buffalo!

    Peter Anspach

The heavy improv of Set 1 features a 14-minute cover of The Wood Brothers‘ “Atlas,” followed by a 20-minute “Arcadia” anbd closed with a 30-minute “Drive.” Set 2 kicks off with “Creatures” and includes covers of Otis Day and the Knights’ “ShamaLamma Ding Dong” and a-ha’s “Take On Me.”

Vinyl is now on sale as of Noon ET, Friday, January 8. For more information, visit goose.es/buffalo-vinyl.
