Seems the air is getting cooler which means our summer is coming to an end, but to kick it off you might as well go out with a bang at Riverboat’s seasonal closing party. The second annual Alex Bay Summer Send Off Party will be the weekend of Friday October 1 and Saturday October 2. There will be two full nights of live music that’ll feature headlining performances by Wild Adriatic and LITZ on Saturday night.
This summer’s send off will be rooted in the spirit of rock & roll. Wild Adriatic is a third time returning guest at the stage, with roots in the Capital District and a smooth sound filled with groove heavy guitars and enough grit to get you moving.
The power house psychedelic funk band LITZ will close the night right on Saturday, or close out the year essentially. This Maryland based band will have something for everyone, from funk, jam, go-go, soul, to even electronica. Their late night set has tons of built up anticipation where this will be their debut at Alex Bay and they know how to make a good first impression.
If you can’t make it on Saturday, Friday has a lot in store. The Reflexions are performing at the Pre-Party as an 8 piece in alt-funk band project put together by none other than Joshua West (Annie in the Water and Lucid). The reggae/roots Americana band will debuting at The Riverboat along with HANZOLO fusing soul, jazz, rock, and funk. The Upstate alt-funk band will continue to fill the air and stage with another 7 piece band.
On Saturday for happy hour, loop master Cozmic Theo will perform a solo set to set off the night, followed by Nash Robb of The Old Main.

ZASH Global, a brazen startup co-founded by Ted Farnsworth, wants to give a gift to the city ZASH calls home. On October 2nd, from 4 PM – 11 PM EST in Clinton Square in Syracuse, Dandelion will give life to an all-FREE Electronic Dance Music concert equivalent to the productions found in Miami.
Nicky Romero will fly from Holland to headline the event. Not only does Nicky have a claim to fame as a DJ, but he is also a known producer & mogul whose label is at the forefront of modern Dance Music. From his hits “Toulouse” and “I Could Be The One” to his recent No.1 US Dance Radio track “Sometimes’” with DallasK & Xylo, Nicky boasts an impressive discography of originals, remixes, and co-productions proving his ability to the ever-changing landscape of electronic music. The success and impact of his label Protocol Records in which he had a hand in producing “Right Now” by Rhianna, “It Should Be Easy” by Britany Spears, along with multiple collaborations with David Guetta… to name a few.
Joining Nicky will be Deorro. After more than a decade of developing his genre-blurring musical style, Los Angeles-born producer Erick Orrosquieta, known as Deorro, has become a worldwide-touring DJ, reputable songwriter, and bona fide superstar producer. Deorro will hone in on the variety of styles that he’s become known for, like Melbourne Bounce and Latin. Andrew Moore, known as Kryoman, will also perform at The Dandelion. He has performed Syracuse before and no one forgets his performances. Miami-based, but London-born, Kryoman makes his presence known with 10-foot tall robots suits, equipped with high-powered lights, smoke guns, and high-definition LED mapping. His music techniques include trap and future house. Moore was a dancer at the main stage at Ultra Music Festival Miami and toured with David Guetta, Steve Aoki, the Black Eyed Peas, and Akon.
Additional artists include the EC Twins, SVNF8, Tadeo Fernandez, and Talia Eisset. The EC Twins have been credited as two of the most influential figures in electronic dance music and thanks to their “British Invasion,” played a large part in the explosion of Electronic Music in the USA. They began by performing in small clubs in Los Angeles and invested all of their finances into their music and performances. Dandelion will be hosted by none other than the Voice of Dance Music. For 24 years, the VODM has hosted Ultra Music Festival, the world’s largest touring festival. His talents have been showcased in front of millions spanning over 3 decades, 75+ cities, and 6 continents around the globe.
Tour dates have been announced for Sean Chambers, following the release of his most recent album, Thats What I’m Talkin About on Quarto Valley Records. The album is packed with nine tracks, most that long term fans will remember from the 90s. He honors his former guitarist as well as producer on his new label. You can find him in Lima, Seneca Falls, and Buffalo at the end of September starting the 21st, and in New York City at Terra Blues on September 29.
This album went out with a heavy heart, where it is a tribute to former Howlin’ Wolf guitarist Hubert Sumlin. Lucky for the band, this album was recorded in March 2020 just before the pandemic hit. Ben Elliot passed away shortly after engineering and producing the album. In tribute to Sumlin, the album includes 10 songs Sean regularly performed on the road as a member of Hubert Sumlin’s touring band, as well as “Hubert’s Song,” an original piece saluting Sumlin. Sean Chambers and his band also join lauded keyboardists Bruce Katz and John Ginty on a few tracks as well.
It all began when Sean received a call asking if they’d be interested in backing up Hubert at ‘Blues Stock’ in Memphis. After relentless practice, the performance with Hubert in October of 1998 was nothing short of extraordinary There was no denying the immediate chemistry between Hubert and Sean, he soon asked the group to become members of the full-time band and they went on to tour for over four years. Hubert was a mentor to Sean, giving him a ‘college education in the blues’. ‘That’s What I’m Talkin About’ was used as a title where it was a phrase commonly used by Hubert.
I will always be grateful to both Hubert Sumlin and Ben Elliott and will never forget all the work we did together, as well as all the lessons that I learned from them both. The music will always live on, and I hope that you enjoy this album as much as we enjoyed making it
Sean Chambers
This album being Ben Elliott’s last project pushed the band to put a picture of the two behind the mixing board for his last song. Ben of course also produced the band’s previous two albums, Trouble & Whiskey and Welcome To My Blues.

Eddies Music Hall of Fame announced their class of 2021 inductees and their Induction ceremony which will take Place on October 27, 2021. The ceremony will take place at the Universal Preservation Hall in Saratoga Springs and will feature live performances.
The Eddies Music Hall of Fame was founded back in 2019. Recipients receive a plaque and a short video about their career playing at the Eddies Music Hall of Fame Wall at Universal Preservation Hall in Saratoga Springs. The Hall of Fame is conducted in conjunction with the Capital Region Thomas Edison Music Awards, both of which are parts of the Proctors Collaborative. Universal Preservation Hall is also a part of the Proctors Collaborative.
This year’s inductees includes big band vocalists and brothers Bob Eberly and Ray Eberle; country musician Marty Wendell; the rock band the Figgs, radio disc jockey Jim Barrett, jazz band leader Skip Parsons, Cuban and African percussionist and educator Eddie Ade Knowles; Old Songs founders Kay (Andy) and Bill Spence.
To be considered eligible to be inducted into the Eddies Music Hall of Fame nominees must have been born in the Capital Region and / or have lived here and / or worked professionally in the Capital Region during their lifetime. As a general rule, nominees must have been active in the music industry for a minimum of 20 years. Exceptions are made in the case of a candidate’s premature death or due to outstanding service or special circumstances.
Both physical performers who are nominated for the Instrumental and / or vocal work and non-performers who are Songwriters, producers, conductors, engineers, disc jockeys, record company executives, journalists, promoters, and other industry professionals who have had a major influence on music, business, organization and institutional leaders, philanthropists, venue operators are eligible to be nominated for the Hall of Fame.
Jim Murphy who is the co-founder and co-producer of the Eddies Music Hall of Fame spoke on this year’s inductees saying, “This is our biggest class so far and it brings the total number of inductees to 15. Judges have nominated nearly 100 individuals and groups since we started the process so there is no end in sight to celebrating our local music scene as more bands and individuals enter eligibility.”
The Eddies Music Hall of Fame Induction ceremony is scheduled to take place on October 27, 2021 at 7 PM. The ceremony will feature performances from artists playing the inductees’ music: Dylan Perillo; Sean Wendell; BROWN LIQUOR SOCIAL CLUB featuring Chris Dollard and J Yager; and Peter Pashoukos and Greg Greene (of the band Perennial). Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the show.

Schitt’s Creek co-creators and the father-son duo, Eugene and Dan Levy, ended their Emmy and Golden Globe-Award winning show after 6 seasons and at the height of its fame, preserving its all around quality. Finally they give fans a little more, with Dan and Eugene Levy announcing a celebration for the launch of their book titled Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: The Story of Schitt’s Creek. If their short Netflix documentary left you in tears, hearing from them at their special one-night event at New York’s Beacon Theatre on October 25th will melt your heart.

Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: The Story of Schitt’s Creek will encapsulate the glowing and hysterical environment that was Schitt’s Creek. This book will remind you how this record breaking show came to be, including a catalogue of Moira’s wigs, vocabulary, David’s knits, and Alexis’s adventures. They’ll delve into detail of Schitt’s Creek major scenes like Moira at Herb Ertlinger Winery, the Rose Family Christmas episode, and Patrick and David’s first kiss. We may never get more episodes of Schitt’s Creek but at least Levy’s book will evoke the memories and laughs we had watching the show for the first time.
On Wednesday, September 22, The Fugees reunited at Pier 17 in Manhattan, with Lauryn Hill, Pras and Wyclef performing together for the first time in 15 years. The trio was three hours late for their 45 minute performance, but who can complain when a classic 90s hip-hop/reggae group reunited for an intimate performance for lucky fans. Hip hop supergroup, The Fugees, will be making a return to arenas and stadiums across the world in celebration of their magnum opus, The Score.
The group – who broke up shortly after the success of 1996’s diamond-certified sophomore effort – will be performing together for the first time since 2006. Their last major reunion tour – following another reunion at Dave Chapelle’s Block Party – ended in disarray as members had to grow accustomed to different dynamics within the group. Such as, Ms. Lauryn Hill’s amplified stardom. The friction led to an abrupt end to the tour as group members traded jabs.
But, to put it nicely, it’s dead. Me and [Wyclef Jean], we on the same page, but Lauryn [Hill] is in her zone, and I’m fed up with that s**t. Here she is, blessed with a gift, with the opportunity to rock and give, and she’s running on some bulls**t? I’m a fan of Lauryn’s, but I can’t respect that.
Nonetheless, the group’s lasting power within hip hop has left fans clamoring for a return despite the members differences. After releasing their experimental debut, Blunted on Reality, the trio found their groove on, The Score. Recorded in the now-infamous “Booga basement,” the album was curated as an actual film and score all-in-one. Like most feature presentations it provided plenty of social-political commentary while it’s “main characters” got a chance to develop through dialogue laden lyrics and skits.
Upon its release, it peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 charts and earned the group two Grammy Awards. Fugees were also the first hip-hop group ever to be nominated for Album Of The Year. It pawned the hit singles “Killing Me Softly With His Song,” “Fu-Gee-La” as well as “Ready or Not” and instantly turned the Brick city natives into the biggest hip hop act in the world. It was also the platform on which Hill emerged as the group’s undeniable star, which — along with her deteriorating romantic relationship with Wyclef – served as a divisive seed that set the group on the path to disbandment.
And now with the album’s 25th anniversary upon us, the group has decided to commemorate the occasion with another world tour. Presented by Diaspora Calling and produced by Live Nation, the 12-city international tour will kick-off tomorrow, September 22nd with an intimate pop-up show in New York City, at an undisclosed location. The rest of the tour will commence November 2nd at United Center in Chicago and will make stops across the globe in Los Angeles, Miami, Newark, Paris, London, and more, before finishing the tour in Africa, with the final shows taking place in Nigeria and Ghana.
The Fugees have a complex but impactful history. I wasn’t even aware the 25th anniversary had arrived until someone brought it to my attention. I decided to honor this significant project, its anniversary, and the fans who appreciated the music by creating a peaceful platform where we could unite, perform the music we loved, and set an example of reconciliation for the world.

As I celebrate 25 years with the Fugees, my first memory was that we vowed, from the gate, we would not just do music we would be a movement. We would be a voice for the un-heard, and in these challenging times, I am grateful once again, that God has brought us together.
In March of 2020, Brooklyn Comes Alive was set to be a masterpiece at the new Avant Gardner in, you guessed it, Brooklyn. Just days before the event would take place the governor put New York in lockdown due to COVID-19. It was one of the first events cancelled due to the pandemic, but it would not be the last.
Multiple online off-shoots of the event have sprung up over the last year and a half. Justice Comes Alive and Georgia Comes Alive, for example, were highly successful online festivals, meant as a way to spread the word about, and fight injustice and bring our country closer to salvation. After a year and half away, the “6th” inaugural Brooklyn Comes Alive will take place at the Brooklyn Mirage, the massive outdoor venue of Avant Gardner on Sunday, September 26th, 2021.
The lineup includes two sets of The Disco Biscuits who, coming off a cancelled weekend in New Haven, will have plenty up their sleeve for the event. The night is rounded off by sets from Karina Rykman, Break Science: Live Band, The Motet, and a trio made up of Joe Russo, John Medeski, and Dave Harrington. It wouldn’t be Brooklyn Comes Alive without at least one super-group. The night will also be hosted by none other than Sirius Jam On’s, Ari Fink.
Instead of the normal event with multiple stages and venues, this year they decided to keep it simple and safe. The outdoor venue will provide ample room and fresh air for fans, with the King’s Hall being open as well for bathrooms, full bar, and a place to relax in between sets. This will also ensure fans don’t miss a second of music.

The Albany Pro Musica are a preeminent choral ensemble based in New York’s Capital Region. They are known for their distinctive artistic style and of a wide range of musical genres. They are critically acclaimed for their performances of intimate a cappella pieces and large-scale choral works alike. They are led by Opalka Family Artistic Director Dr. José Daniel Flores-Caraballo. They reside at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall.
Albany Pro Musica will be returning to the concert hall in 2021 after having a fully virtual 40th anniversary season last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This season will feature Broadway to Brahms with a little something for everyone. This season will feature the high level of artistry and creativity that is known from them. This season will feature new compositions, educational programming, and more.

The Troy Savings Bank Music Hall Corp. requires proof of vaccination for entry to all events at the Music Hall or any ancillary location. Ghost Light members Holly Bowling and Tom Hamilton will release their first album as a duo, Lacuna, on November 19 via Royal Potato Family, with six intimate performances starting on November 26 in New York City.
The music on Lacuna comes from one stream of consciousness – a completely improvised recording session at Hamilton’s studio The Ballroom in Philadelphia. Through a series of ambient excursions, Hamilton and Bowling showcased their powerful musical connection, as seen in a video excerpt from the recording session below.
The impetus for recording Lacuna came during the summer of 2020 while Bowling was isolated at her home in Northern California and Hamilton essentially lived in his Philadelphia studio. Bowling—pregnant with her first child at the time—embarked on a cross-country road trip to visit her family in Maine. On her way back home in September, she took a detour to visit Hamilton. The pair caught up, sat down at their instruments, Bowling on baby grand piano and Hamilton on acoustic guitar, and hit record.
It was all very organic. We hit save, she left, and we didn’t talk about it.

The music would sit on a hard drive, unheard, until Hamilton listened back in February 2021 and realized they had something special. The resulting 46 minutes of ambient instrumental improvisation became Lacuna. Recorded in one take with no overdubs, the pair had to reverse engineer the album, splitting the improvisation into eight tracks with names.
We were just playing to play. I was so intensely missing that spark and connection of playing music with someone else and having that back and forth. It was the happiest I had been in ages, even though the music sounds pretty dark in places, and it was definitely a very dark time. Tapping into that and then getting it out was cathartic.
Holly Bowling
The title Lacuna came from one of the many books Bowling read during quarantine. She didn’t know what the word meant so she looked it up and found that the definition: “a gap, an unfilled space, or an intentional, extended passage in a musical work during which no notes are played.” It perfectly encapsulated the pandemic era and the sounds the pair had made while living through it. “I’ve felt more and more comfortable in those in-between spaces,” Bowling says. “That’s really where I’ve been wanting to spend my time, and with Lacuna, that’s the entire thing.”
Among the six shows are performances in New York City, Colorado and San Francisco, with additional dates planned for 2022. The first show is at (Le) Poisson Rouge in Greenwich Village on November 26, followed by a special performance on November 27 at The Ballroom, the studio where Lacuna was born. Update – September 17, 2021: Elton John is postponing his 2021 European dates on his world tour until 2023 so that he can have an operation on an injured hip. Elton John said of the injury and postponement:
Despite intensive physio and specialist treatment, the pain has continued to get worse and is leading to increasing difficulties moving. I have been advised to have an operation as soon as possible to get me back to full fitness and make sure there are no long-term complications.
With great sadness and a heavy heart that I am forced to reschedule the 2021 dates of my Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in Europe and the UK to 2023.

Elton has promised fans that “the shows will return to the road next year and I will make sure they are more than worth the wait.”

The final dates for Elton John’s “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour have been announced. This final tour for Elton John will take him around Europe, America and New Zealand, with dates into 2023.
Elton John released a statement regarding his new tour dates, and the return to his ‘final’ tour:
Hello, all you wonderful fans out there. I’m coming to you today with an announcement I’ve been working towards for, well, all my life: the shows that I announce today will be my final tour dates ever in North America and Europe. I’m going to go out in the biggest possible way, performing at my very best, with the most spectacular production I’ve ever had, playing in places that have meant so much to me throughout my career.
